I sat down (on MSN) with 19 y/o blogger, Alexander Huseby of www.thefashionista.us, the star of this month's ILVOELV Profiles. Residing in Norway, Alex is currently studying Finance at BI Norwegian School of Management (Handelshøyskolen BI). He loves to hang out with friends, design women's clothes, travel and see the world.. and be with his fiancée, Sara. Yup, he's engaged.

Bengt: With just three words, how would you describe yourself?
Alex: Energetic, honest, caring.

Bengt: When did you discover that you love fashion?
Alex: Quite early. I have always looked at my mother and grandmother to be fashionable. I inherited my mothers love for beauty at quite an early age. You know the picture of me when I was little, I always like to dress nice :P
Bengt: Hahaha... Yeah! Love the red bowtie! ;)

Bengt: So, I assume that they are your fashion inspirations? Aside from your Mom and Grandmother, who else inspires you?
Alex: Yes, they are. Epecially my grandmother! She is incredible at her age. Aside from that, Gabrielle Chanel is one of my biggest icons! She had the guts to do what everyone else said not to, and for me, thats what fashion is about. Working in your own directions.

Bengt: So, what's the story behind your blog. When did you start writing and why?
Alex: My blog is quite new, I started October 14th, but despite this, I have had great success! What I wanted to do with my blog, was to give the readers a different experience. I realized there are too many "regular" fashion blogs out there. I want to give my readers a good time. This "new" way of thinking gave me a whole lot of new readers, and I think they enjoyed what I did.

Bengt: What are the goals you want to achieve within your lifetime?
Alex: First off, I want to finish my degree in Finance. It has been both a dream of my fiancée and me to start our own fashion brand, so it might end up with that. My lifetime goals are to follow the footsteps of so many amazing people in fashion.
Bengt's Thoughts: *me too, I want to have my own label*
Bengt: Like whom?
Alex: My favourite personality in fashion right now, is Grace Coddington. Grace is probably the only person left in fashion with those old aesthetics. She really cares about her work, and I respect her for that. Other people would just do their job for a paycheck.
Bengt: True! She was amazing in The September Issue.. Makes me wanna work at Vogue.. :p
Alex: Exactly.

Bengt: So, what makes you happy?
Alex: My fiancée! I am so lucky to have found true love at such an early age. I truly love her, and I look forward to living the rest of my life with her.
Bengt: Aw, that's sweet.. :)

Bengt: What is your favorite piece of clothing? Why?
Alex: I wish you asked for footwear, I am that kind of guy!
Bengt's Thoughts: *Seriously?! We have too much in common, I'm crazy for shoes too! I've been lusting over those patent/suede Lanvin sneakers for ages*
Alex: Well, my favourite piece of clothing is a sort of Cardigan by the Sweedish brand Hansen & Jacob. It is divine, and it fits my body like hand in glove.
Bengt: So you're more into shoes than clothes?
Alex: I guess I am! I love my collection. Hand sewn in Italy most of them :P

Bengt: What/who are your favorite brands/designers?
Alex: Oy vey! There are so many. I will just have to say a few. Phillip Lim, John Galliano, Marc Jacobs, both for himself and for Louis Vuitton, Vivienne Westwood, Thakoon... These are all people creating something a bit out of the ordinary, not so mainstream. Plus I like a story behind the clothes.
Bengt: Me too. The inspirations behind the collection and how the designers interpret it really interests me..

Bengt: Let's fast forward time. You are already a designer running your own fashion house, which city would you show at? New York, London, Milan, Paris?
Alex: New York! Only one city in the world in my heart, New York!
Bengt: I <3 NY
Alex: The city represents so much
Bengt: I absolutely agree!

Bengt: So I'm done with the 'serious' questions, now i'll ask you some random stuff.
Alex: Okay :P
Bengt: If you have a special power/ability, what would it be?
Alex: Turn back time! I would like to meet Miss Chanel.
Bengt: And when you meet Mademoiselle Coco, what would you say to her?
Alex: First of all, I would faint. When and if I ever wake up again, I would like to ask to see her work for a day.
Bengt: LMAO! Hahaha..

Bengt: This is one's tough.. Please answer honestly and precisely..
Alex: Okay
Bengt: Ready?
Alex: Yes
Bengt: What would I find in your refrigerator right now?

Louis Vuitton Mini Noé Rococo

This has got to be one of the most fabulous bags made by Vuitton... ever! Its called the Mini Noé Rococo named after the elaborately ornamental late baroque style of decoration prevalent in 18th-century Continental Europe. With approximately 13 thousand pieces of brilliantly shimmering sequins, the Mini Noé Rococo is a magnificent masterpiece, a perfect accessory to any glamorous occasion.

Each sequin underwent a non-abrasive treatment so each piece is soft to the touch and would not damage your clothes or other bags during contact. Another amazing feature of this bag is that each sequin has a print of the Monogram motif!

Mini Noé Rococo features a rope detail handle (a recurring aesthetic to the pieces from the Cruise 2010 collection), has viscose lining (rayon fabric), has one lipstick pocket and one Blackberry or iPhone pocket. Lastly, set in the middle of the sea of glittering sequins is the Louis Vuitton Inventeur plate made from golden brass, a wonderful centerpiece.

Daisy Lowe for Louis Vuitton Beachwear 2010 Press Kit

London 'It girl'-slash-model Daisy Lowe was booked by Louis Vuitton to star in a press kit for its new beachwear collection which consists of ready-to-wear, shoes, bags and accessories. The kit will be shot in Miami this weekend and will be sent to editors in January. The goods are expected to hit the shelves come April.

Prada: The Book

Prada unveils its ginormous 706-page self-titled book that covers the 30 years of innovations and experiments in fashion, art, architecture, cinema and communications.

"For Prada, fashion, luxury and style go beyond producing an infinity of clothes and shoes, so the book wants to illustrate the various aspects through which Prada expresses itself," said Patrizio Bertelli, chief executive officer of Prada Group.

The book is published by Prada Progetto Arte and is available in English and Italian versions in Prada stores worldwide, in select bookstores and on prada.com/pradabook for €100 or approx. US$150.

For Cruise 2010, Miu Miu presents the Stage bags, a collection of insanely ravishing purses made from either the buttery soft Nappa leather or intricate lurex fabric with detachable crystal handle straps that could double as a bracelet or necklace. Now that's witty! You could carry the bags as a clutch or on the elbow, or carry the bag as the clutch and wear the crystal strap as a bracelet. The possibilities are endless. But its just quite woeful to think that the strap might snap... hopefully it won't.

The collection consists of three groups of three bags, all of which will be available at Miu Miu stores and online retailers by the end of the month.

Louis Vuitton L'Excellence du Savoir-Faire: The Red Cross Special Order

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Red Cross, a movement initiated on the battlefield of Solférino in 1859, Louis Vuitton has created the Boîte Spéciale Croix-Rouge. The hard-sided case in Monogram canvas, equipped with Louis Vuitton's signature natural leather handle, brass S-lock and corners, opens frontally to reveal an array of red and grey aluminium medicine boxes arranged in such a way as to form the familiar emblem of the Red Cross. The logo of the Red Cross is hand-painted on the front of the case.

"When reflecting upon our collaboration with the Red Cross, it came to my mind to create a special Red Cross kit. The compilation of the red and silver aluminum boxes to form a red cross on the inside along with the logo on the outside make it visually impactful and a truly unique piece." says Patrick-Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton celebrates L'Excellence du Savoir-Faire and collaborates with six masters of know-how - artist Damien Hirst, chef Ferran Adrià, photographer Annie Leibovitz, musician Gustavo Santaolalla, designer Marc Jacobs, and Patrick-Louis Vuitton - and creates six limited-edition special orders to benefit the Red Cross.

Luxury brand Louis Vuitton, synonymous with the art of travel and highly qualified craftsmanship, collaborates this year with six masters of savoir-faire and creates six limited-edition Special Orders to benefit the ‘Red Cross’. Sotheby’s London will co-host the gala charity sale of these unique special pieces at its New Bond Street premises on November 17th, 2009. The proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Red Cross for their Fight against Malnutrition programme in Nigeria.

Since its creation in 1854, Louis Vuitton has offered customers the possibility of producing Special Orders to cater a specific need or to fulfil a particular desire. In order to celebrate over a century and a half of exceptional savoir-faire at Louis Vuitton’s first workshop in Asnières, France, Louis Vuitton offered six masters of savoir-faire the opportunity to create a unique Special Order that embodies their exceptional expertise in their respective professions. The six personalities are the artist Damien Hirst, the chef Ferran Adrià, the photographer Annie Leibovitz, the musician and composer Gustavo Santaolalla, the designer Marc Jacobs, and Patrick-Louis Vuitton, the head of Louis Vuitton's Special Orders department and a member of the fifth generation of the Vuitton family. Each piece was designed by Patrick-Louis Vuitton in collaboration with the personality.

Uniting tradition and modernity, these pieces are testament to Louis Vuitton’s savoir-faire in the domain of Special Orders. Ranging from hard-frame to soft-sided, they are interpreted in a variety of materials, from Monogram and Damier Graphite canvas, to Nomade leather and alligator. In addition to the six unique special orders created by the masters of savoir-faire, the auction will also include a limited-edition Red Cross medical trunk, crafted by Louis Vuitton to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Red Cross. These Special Orders will have travelled the world to cities such as Mexico City, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Dubai, Seoul and New York between July and November 2009, for a series of exclusive viewings by clients of Sotheby’s and Louis Vuitton.

Discussing this charity auction, Yves Carcelle, President of Louis Vuitton said: “For over a century and a half, Louis Vuitton's Asnières workshop has been the living symbol of the company's unique combination of tradition and innovation. To mark this important anniversary, Louis Vuitton will celebrate ‘l’Excellence du Savoir-Faire’ through its heritage of Special Orders by partnering with some of today’s iconic figures who themselves possess a rare expertise.”

Louis Vuitton opens its latest store at Northpark Center in Dallas, Texas. This spacious new store carries leather goods and accessories, shoes, jewelry, sunglasses and the first store in the city to carry watches.

Its also one of three U.S stores that displays a significant work of art, a bronze sculpture called “Suitcase in Exile” commissioned from French artist Vincent Dubourg. So if you're in Dallas, be sure to visit this new store.

Louis Vuitton is making a grand statement with its new flagship in NorthPark Center here, and not just because it’s the brand’s biggest store in the city and the first to carry watches.

The airy space features a two-story glass wall that faces the serene formal garden in the middle of the mall. It’s the first store to make the most of its proximity to the 1.4-acre park, which transformed a former parking lot when the mall expanded three years ago.

It’s also one of only three U.S. stores to feature a significant work of art, a sinewy bronze sculpture called “Suitcase in Exile” commissioned from French artist Vincent Dubourg.

“The garden was a big inspiration for us when we walked the mall with the owners looking at the opportunities,” said Daniel Lalonde, president and chief executive officer of Louis Vuitton North America. “We felt this was the right concept for Dallas to have a store that is very different and tied into the world of art, in line with the center, which is very contemporary and art-inspired.”

Vuitton’s facade along the interior hallway of the mall is also striking. An Op Art take on the popular Damier pattern, it features a wall of checkerboard glass positioned inches away from a matching black-and-white checked wall. As the viewer walks past the store, the pattern appears to move and swirl.

The store, which opened Tuesday, also features four dramatic Murano glass chandeliers that incorporate flowers and other signature Vuitton motifs.

The two-story atrium at the rear of the store towers over a shoe and bag salon. A prominent handbag bar and sunglass wall are at the front of the store, along with small leather goods, jewelry, men’s shoes, ties, bags, agendas and accessories. A boutique leading to the rear atrium displays watches and luggage, including antique trunks.

Vuitton’s mall entrance opens onto an interior court with monumental kinetic sculptures and neighbors, including Oscar de la Renta, Lacoste and Hervé Léger, which is slated to open this fall.

Over the past two years, Vuitton has been investing in Dallas. Only a year ago it renovated and expanded its store inside Neiman Marcus, which is steps away from the new flagship.

Vuitton renovated its 3,800-square foot freestanding store at Galleria Dallas about 18 months ago. Vuitton also has a boutique Saks Fifth Avenue at the Galleria and at Neiman’s in Plano, a Dallas suburb.

“Dallas has been a very resilient market for us even over the past 12 months,” Lalonde said. “It’s a market that has accepted Vuitton very well, and we feel strong potential to build the brand in this market.”

Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2010 Ad Campaign Scoop

2009 was Madonna's year for Vuitton, but in 2010, it's Lara Stone's moment. Word has it that the Dutch top model is booked for the campaign, to be shot by Steven Meisel (his third season straight for Louis Vuitton) at New York City.

Lara is one of my favorite girls coz she looks fierce and severe yet she's managed to look calm and pretty which makes her a versatile model. I'm really have my hopes high for the campaign. I mean, she's Lara Stone!

For the Men's collection, supermodel Gabriel Aubry got the job and has actually just shot the campaign in Ibiza.

Here's the first image of Louis Vuitton's Cruise 2010 ad campaign to surface online. Starring Isabeli Fontana, the campaign was shot by Patrick Demarchelier at the Hamptons last August.

Its such a lovely photo. The colors are amazing and really vibrant, makes me wanna go on a vacation. :p More images to come in the coming days.

Resonance, the product of this collaboration, is a unique project which celebrates the universal beauty of sound and gives everyone a chance to wander and lose themselves in a short journey within earthly boundaries.

Karl Lagerfeld must be singing Lily Allen songs in the shower coz he's totally smitten with her. The British singer was chosen as the star of Chanel's Coco Cocoon Ad Campaign alongside another Karl Lagerfeld favorite, French model Baptiste Giabiconi (who currently reigns supreme snagging the top spot of the model ranks according to models.com). The campaign was shot by Karl Lagerfeld in classic monochrome with Lily wearing pieces from Chanel's Fall 2009 ready-to-wear collection with the Cocoon bags in hand.

For Fall/Winter 2009-2010, Karl Lagerfeld designed 'Coco Cocoon', a new collection of sleek, casual handbags and accessories in washed lambskin or nylon. The Coco Cocoon line reveals turned inside out, the signature Chanel quilted pattern which corresponds to Coco Chanel's perspective that "true luxury is when something is as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside".

The collection features a number of pieces from handbags and small leather goods to large travel bags. All pieces are lightweight, really comfortable for use in travel or city escapades from day to night. I quite like some of the bags just because they're puffy and great for traveling (and could double as a pillow, lol). But some are really chic especially the white totes, bowling bags and the cute little pouches.

Here are the handbags from Chanel's Coco Cocoon collection. There are four pieces in this line, a large nylon tote, a medium lambskin tote, a small lambskin tote and a lambskin bowling bag. Not all of the pieces are reversible to dark red diamond quilting, but the non-reversible bags has dark red lining similar to that of the original 2.55.

Coco Cocoon Large Nylon Tote

Lightweight, reversible quilted nylon large tote with soft nylon handles. Its reversible from grey horizontal quilting to dark red diamond quilting. It has an interior zipped pocket and ruthenium hardware. Comes in five colors: Grey, Dark Brown, Taupe, Navy and Black.

I'm back! Its been quite some time since I've last written something. It's because of the construction that's happening here in the house. Our floor is being redone and finding a nice spot to sit 'normally' (without cutting circulation off my legs) is quite a challenge, but everything's done now and I have settled back in my corner... back to work!

Louis Vuitton Monogram Stresa PM

Now onto the bag. You may remember this one from the photos I've posted months ago, from Vuitton's Cruise 2010 presentation in New York. The bag was presented in Damier Azur canvas, but that version would be hitting the shelves months from now. You can, however, get the Stresa as early as now... in Monogram Canvas.

Named after a town on the shores of Lake Maggiore in Italy - a popular retreat for the elite - the Stresa has the town's calmness and timelessness in terms of the design. It's an elegant bag with an angular shape and offers a comfortable carrying experience even when full. Effortless chic I say.

Vogue Paris November 2009: Keith Me

Brazilian top model Isabeli Fontana graces the 'extrême' tribal graffiti-inspired cover of French Vogue's November 2009 issue, photographed by David Sims. The aesthetic was brought into the main editorial called Keith Me styled by the magazine's Editor-in-Chief Carine Roitfeld. The editorial was inspired by the characters of graffiti artist Keith Haring and echoes ethnic accents and raw notes of exotic tribal body painting.

Here's the Louis Vuitton shot. I love what Carine did to the Monogram Blanket, and Isabeli looked like a fierce but chic glamazon.

Speaking of Isabeli Fontana, look out for her in November/December fashion magazines as she is the face of Louis Vuitton's Cruise 2010 ad campaign that was shot at the Hamptons by Patrick Demarchelier. I can't wait to see it.

Happy 19th To Me!

I'm really thankful for everything that has happened to me. For my family, my friends, experiences and everything in between... I cherish them all.

Introducing my first Louis Vuitton piece. My first ever! And its a gift from my dear friend LVMode from Australia. I'm so happy! I can't wait for it to arrive!

Its really funny coz I posted a photo of the Macassar luggage tag hot stamped with my initials as my birthday wish in Facebook. I've never thought that LVMode would get it for my birthday, I was really shocked... I'm still shocked, and so happy. If only you saw my face, you'd die laughing.. Haha..

One of my lifetime wishes is to collect Vuitton luggage tags with my initials from all over the world (along with being the creative director/designer and revive the House of Madeleine Vionnet and more). I thought that my first luggage tag would be from Hong Kong (I was supposed to go to the Vuitton exhibit last July but I cancelled). Who would have ever thought that I won't have to ride a plane to start my collection? I'm just ecstatic!

Presented just a few months ago, Louis Vuitton's Cruise 2010 collection was inspired by the French coquettes setting off to the beach. The bags features nautical motifs such as rope handles and tassles, glitters, shine, and just pure resort glamour. The type of bags that you'd surely be want to be seen wearing while on a stroll at Saint Tropez or perhaps Costa Smeralda.

This is just so cute. Check out this backstage and finale parade from Vuitton's Spring 2010 show captured by Jeremy Kost.

"The hair stole the show at Louis Vuitton last week. Jeremy Kost was backstage with his ever-trusty camera in hand to capture two models butting Afros before the show. He also caught the final parade, with the dos set just so against the lights, making them appear almost angelic. Watch the hair-raising video for yourself."
