Last week I photographed a group of dancers practicing, and I really enjoyed the challenge of not blurring my images, but in the case of some of the photos, I don't mind the blurring/out of focus look at all.

Studio lighting. Not one of my fortes, but I really want to learn how to do it. The first couple weeks of class we've dealt with standard methods of how to light portraits, such as: broad, short and butterfly lighting, and also how to use and reflect the key light and add hair, rim, and background lights. All of our portrait had to be shot with a 3:1 ratio. Critique #1 was today, I had to

Yesterday I got a chance to go downtown and check out the Blacksburg Farmers Market, which takes place on Saturdays 8am - 2pm  and on Wednesdays 2pm - 7 pm. I really enjoyed myself. I got to taste fresh organic blueberry's, breads and fresh baked desserts, and I even bought some blueberry lemonade, fresh squeezed and it tasted amazing. I also got to try a crepe with sausage, cheese,

This year I celebrated Independence Day in Blacksburg, Virginia at the town's annual fireworks display. This was my first time shooting fireworks, so I was very excited to see what new challenges it would bring me. When I first got there I cold only see everyone in a silhouette outline and took advantage of that to come up with some creative shots, I think those were the shots I enjoyed shooting

Today I did some street photography around Blacksburg, VA, a small college town where Virginia Tech is located. I mostly shot on campus and in the downtown area, it's pretty much a quiet place, nothing really going on especially since most of the college students are gone for the summer. I went out at about 7 just as the sun was beginning to set. I have recently been inspired to try street

I fill these collection of photos demonstrate the variety of things I like to shoot as a photojournalist. Things ranging from dress rehearsals to nature I like to capture it all in the best way I can. As a photojournalist I feel that there is no limit to what I should shoot, I need to be able to have that photographic eye for everything I come in contact with. Nature Flowers Storm

The self portrait. Some photographers hate it, some embrace it, but I think its safe to say that every photographer has taken a self portrait at least once. The most notable photographer I'm aware of that is a master of the self portrait is Cindy Sherman. Sherman's conceptual photographs gained her international recognition when she came out with the series Untitled FIlm Stills, 1977-1980, in

. . . and its many forms. As a photographer I look at light differently, than the average person, any other photographer would understand this perspective. Light is what makes the image, and can be interpreted in all kinds of ways. Indoor, outdoor the light makes a difference but the question never changes, what type of lighting situation am I in. A building at 12 o'clock make look better at 6
