JUZ - 5. Key Points to Ponder.

Surah An Nisa Ayahs 24 to 147

*[4:24] Men are forbidden to marry already married women.

*[4:25] Nikah is the only way to fulfill a person's sexual desires and it's a noble contract between two serious people. There is no concept of a boyfriend girlfriend relationship in Islam.

*[4:28] Always think well of Allah azza wa jall and never think His laws are making things difficult for you. Allah 'azza wa jall wants you to prosper and truly, by not following His instructions you are making your own life difficult.

*[4:29] Allah Ta'ala prohibits His believing servants from illegally acquiring each other's property using various dishonest methods such as Riba, gambling and other wicked methods that appear to be legal, but Allah knows that, in reality, those involved seek to deal in interest.

*[4:29] Murder and suicide are strictly probited. Both acts are Haraam and carry severe punishment in the Akhirah.

*[4:31] Keep away from major sins (kabaa'ir) like shirk, disobedience to parents, e.t.c. and Allah will remove all your minor sins AND He will give you Jannah, now that is Mercy! :')

*[4:32] Do not wish for what other people are given, of blessings or luxuries that you don't possess, for this is decreed for them by Allah who is All Wise All Knowing, and wishing [or envying] does not change its decree. However, Allah tells you to ask Him for His favor and He will grant it to you, if it is best for you. For indeed He is Most Generous and Most Giving.

*[4:34] Men are in charge of women because of their physical strength and their responsibility of earning livelhood.

*[4:34] A righteous woman is obedient to her husband and protects her honor and her husband's property when he is absent.

*[4:36] Being kind to parents is mentioned directly after worshipping Allah alone: We need to stop ourselves from shouting at my parents and strive to do good for them.
Be good to close and far neighbours and remember this is an act of ibaadah.

*[4:38] Never give sadaqah to show off to others!

*[4:51] Believing in Jibt (sorcery) and Taghut (shaytan) is Shirk and there's no forgivness for this sin.

*[4:56] The punishment for disbelieving in the ayaat of Allah is Hellfire which burns the skins over and over again. Imagine the skin being roasted in the Hellfire; the skin is an extremely sensitive part of the body and very sensitive to pain. May Allah protect our necks and skins from the Hell Fire.

*[4:58] Every Amanah [trust] is important, even of a child.

*[4:59] Judge fairly between two parties, even though you prefer one of them! Solve arguments looking at what Allah instructs and not in ways you "feel" is best.

*[4:69] Obeying Allah and His Messenger will make you gain the companionship of the prophets, siddiqeen, martyrs and righteous ones in Jannah. :)

*[4:76] The Believers strive in the way of Allah and the disbelievers strive in the way of Taghoot and both groups have different goals.

[4:78] No matter how safe you think you are, death will find you- so don't ever fear men over Allah- and do your duty.

*[4:79] Whenever you are afflicted by pain or problems, reflect over your past sins and immediately repent.

[4:82] Contemplate (tadabbur) at least one ayah from the Quran a day.

*[4:86] Say Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu to those you know and those you do not know of Muslims. :)

*[4:92] Killing/Murdering a believer intentionally is the most hateful thing to Allah and its punishment is the Hell fire

* [4:97] There's a big reward for the ones who do hijrah for the pleasure of Allah. One can also do hijrah by leaving off a sinful life, repenting and turning to Allah.

*[4:103] Make praying ON TIME a priority and ask Allah to help you pray on time. You will instantly feel the effect on your emaan when you pray on time. Qasr [shortening the prayer] is allowed during travelling and Salat Al Khawf is allowed during war.

*[4:104] After praying, do a lot of dhikr and tasbeeh, whether it is while you are sitting, standing or lying down. Just remember Allah a lot.

*[4:114] Secret talk are allowed if it is regarding a righteous deeds. However secret talk while you backbite, gossip and envy is forbidden.

*[4:119] Know shaytan is your enemy and increase in saying with conviction (as if it is a sword): aoodhu billahi minash shaytanir rajeem! Study ways how shaytan deceives people and learn from them.

*[4:123] Success is only achieved by doing righteous deeds and not by wishful thinking. Take steps to please Allah and watch your life get better! :)

*[4:134] Don't just expect reward of Dunya. Strive in doing good deeds while focusing on the reward of the Hereafter.

*[4:136] Believers should always keep adhering to their eeman and maintain it so that their actions become righteous.

*[4:135] Always stand up and witness to the truth, even if it is against yourself.

*[4:139] Never seek your honour in careers, reputations, joining forces with those who don't fear Allah in order to gain power or to win an argument. Real honour ('izzah) is in Islam and obeying Allah.

*[4:140] It's not allowed to sit in gatherings when people make fun of Islam or the commands of Allah.

*[4:142] You have energy for anything but when it comes to salah you feel tired? Standing lazy in salah, praying differently when with people and not being present with your heart are signs of hypocrites. Check yourself!

*[4:142-143] Deceiving Allah, being lazy in performing prayers or showing off when praying, not remembering Allah and always staying doubting about the aspects of Deen are traits of the hypocrites.

*[4:146] Stay away from hypocrisy. Repent, return to Allah, hold on to His rules and submit truly and sincerely to Islam.

*[4:147] Be more grateful and complain less. Constantly complaining about big or small matters becomes a habit ( it's too hot! the same food again? etc). Realize that being grateful is a way to avert the punishment of Allah.

************************************************
Please share your reflections and points from Juz 5 in the comments. Jazakumullah Khair. Share the Khair!

May Allah guide us to reflect and act on these points. Aameen

RAMADAN: Read, Recite, Reflect, Understand, Practice the QUR'AN!

Want to get EIGHT gates of PARADISE opened for yourself & enter through any one that you wish??? YES? Then read the hadeeth below to know how!

'Uqba b. 'Amir reported that we were on watch guarding camels & when my turn to guard came I took the camels back at night. I found the the Prophet (sallAllahu 'alyhi wasallam) addressing the people. I heard these words from that speech •► "If any Muslim performs ablution well, then stands and prays two rak'ahs setting about them with full khush'oo in his heart and face, Paradise would be guaranteed to him."

I [Uqba] said: "What a fine thing is this!" And a narrator who was before me said: "The first part (of the hadeeth) was even better than this. When I cast a glance, I saw that it was 'Umar who said: "I see that you have just come and observed, The Prophet (sallAllahu 'alyhi wasallam) said •► "Whoever of you performs Wudu' carefully and then affirms: `Ash-hadu an la ilaha illallahu Wahdahu la sharika Lahu, wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan `abduhu wa Rasuluhu [I testify that there so no true god except Allah Alone, Who has no partners and that Muhammad (sallAllahu 'alyhi wasallam) is His slave and Messenger],' the eight gates of Jannah are opened for him. He may enter through whichever of these gates he desires (to enter).'' "

(Muslim :: Book 2 : Hadith 451)

JUZ - 4. Key Points to Ponder.
Surah Ale Imran Ayahs (92 to 200)

*[3:92] We must adopt Al Birr (Righteousness)! AlBirr is spending and giving that which you 'love the most' in the way of Allah. The point behind giving sadaqah (charity) is not necessarily to just give something away, but rather to give away things we love in order to develop our faith, train our souls upon seeking the Hereafter and the Love of Allah, and detaching it from the desire and frivolities of the Dunya (world).
*[3:97] Love the Bayt-Allah/Ka'abah and perform Hajj once in your life if you are able to do so.

*[3:102] Spend your whole life in the obedience of Allah and let death meet you while you are in a state of eeman.

*[3:103] Hold on tightly to the rope of Allah i.e., the Qur'an, be firm on its path altogether as an Ummah and stay away from division.

*[3:103] Acknowledge the biggest blessing of Allah and thank Him with our heart, tongue and good actions as He blessed you with guidance and saved you from being a kafir destined for hellfire.

*[3:104]] Calling people to the Quran, its rules, and to righteous deeds is every Muslim's duty.

*[3:110] Allah calls the nation of the Believers the best nation because they enjoin Al-Ma'rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all that Islâm has ordained) and forbid Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and all that Islâm has forbidden), and they believe in Allâh.

*[3:121] The Muslims suffered loss at the Battle of Uhud because of the love of wealth/Dunya. To be successful in both worlds one needs to work sincerely for the sake of Allah.

*[3:134] Be a Muhsin [doer of Good] - who gives charity in hard times and easy times, while healthy or ill, and in all conditions. He controls his anger and forgives/pardons those who wrong him.

*[3:136] Race and strive hard in good deeds and sabr to gain Allah's forgiveness and a place in His vast Jannah.

*[3:144] Be of the Shakireen (the grateful ones) - who bear the biggest of sorrows for the sake of Allah, the ones who sacrifice all that they love to spread the Deen of Allah.

*[3:146] Allah strengthens His servant and his eeman by testing him again and again. If you fear him and are patient, you will be successful.

*[3:150] Whatever the situation, what or who ever you feel like turning to, tell yourself: huwa khayrun naasireen - He is the best of helpers.

*[3:159] Be lenient and forgive the mistakes of your companions on account of their sincerity, sacrifices and past good acts.

*[3:164] Allah Ta'ala has truly blessed the Ummah by sending His Messenger (sallAllahu 'alayhi wasallam) to purify them and teach them His Book. Do we take this blessing for granted?

*[3:169] Wish and pray for martyrdom to find special provision and reward from Allah in the Hereafter.

*[3:173] Whenever you are stuck in a problem, facing challenges from your enemies then just have strong eeman, yaqeen and tawakkal in Allah, His might, His Help and say: HasbunAllahu wa ni'mal Wakeel ("Sufficient for us is Allah , and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs.")

*[3:185] Protect yourself from the traps of this deceiving Dunya. Real success is for the one who is saved from the hellfire and made to enter Jannah in the Hereafter.

*[3:190-194] Aisha (radiAllahu 'anha) narrated that when these ayaat were revealed RasoolAllah (sallAllahu 'alayhi wasallam) wept till his beard became wet and he said: 'Woe to he who recites it but does not contemplate it.'

*[3:191] Increase in doing dhikr during your daily routine, eg while cooking, when in bed, when waiting for the bus, while sitting on the sofa.
*[3:193] Always make dua that you die as a Muslim.

*[3:200] Sabr is not only dealing with hardship you endure by the hands of people, it is also being patient with (ie resisting) your own evil inclinations!

Surah An Nisa (Ayahs 1 to 23)

*[4:1] You must fear Allah, know that he is Always Watching and be caring towards your relatives and treat them with kindness for the sake of Allah and avoid breaking off ties with them.

*[4:3] A man is allowed to marry more than once if he can guarantee treating all four wives with equality.

*[4:4] Giving the dowry to the wives is obligatory on men when they marry.

*[4:11-12] It is necessary to distribute the inheritance according the portions that Allah has ordained.

*[4:17-18] Do not delay seeking forgiveness of Allah after you commit a sin. Repentance at the time of death will not be accepted.

*[4:19] Men should treat their women kindly and not be harsh with them. They should not ask their wives to return the dowry in case of divorce or separation.

************************************************
Please share your reflections and points from Juz 1 in the comments. Jazakumullah Khair. Share the Khair!

May Allah guide us to reflect and act on these points.
●|● Ramadan 2015: Let's Purify Our Heart - ANGER & ITS CURE ●|●

Purification of the heart involves two stages:
1. Cleansing the heart of its vices and diseases
2. Increasing the good characteristics and virtues of the heart.

To achieve the first step, we need to consider the various
diseases and their causes.

1. Ghadab (Anger)

Excessive anger prevents the afflicted person from thinking straight, often overtaking his intellect, and sometimes even religion.

This type of anger may result in the person committing verbal and/or physical abuse, perhaps without him even realising it.

Such anger is nearly always followed by regret and remorse, and the consequences are such that families and relationships may suffer or be broken because of its effects.

As such, it is imperative that one understands how to deal with the
emotion of anger and control it.

Abu Hurayrah, may Allaah be pleased with him, reported that a man said to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), "Advise me." He said, "Do not become angry." The man repeated his request several times, and each time the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) told him, "Do not become angry." (Reported by al-Bukhaari, Fath al-Bari, 10/456)

According to another report, the man said: "I thought about what the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, and I realized that anger combines all kinds of evil." (Musnad Ahmad, 5/373)

● Causes of Anger

1) Internal Causes

A test from Allah (subhanAllaahu wa ta'ala), this is a natural tendency to get angry quickly, such that the slightest irritation can lead to great frustration. This is a test from Allah.

Allah has created mankind all with different strengths and weaknesses. This is as a test for each individual.

One person can find it hard to control his anger but easy to give in charity. Another could find it easy to control his anger but very difficult to be generous. It is upon each person to work on his own personal weaknesses such that he at least reaches a level of acceptance in Islam; that is, such that his weaknesses do not cause him to leave an obligation or fall into a prohibition.

2) External Causes

This type of anger is a result of the environment that the person finds himself in. A person may keep company with people who boast about their anger and lack of forbearance. They speak proudly about how they act in accordance with their anger and call this bravery and courage. When a person keeps company with these types of people he may eventually begin to glorify this excessive anger and think that it is something good. And as the fire of anger gets severer the person becomes blinded by that anger and becomes less and less prone to listening to advice about his temper. If someone advises him, he does not listen to them; in fact, this enrages him further. And if his intellect tells him that he is wrong, the anger gets the better of him and extinguishes any rational. He is overcome with blinded emotion that he must act by.

● Effects of Anger

1) General External

Among the effects on the person and his character are those of the person’s colour changing; confusion in speech and movements; clenched fists; red/blood-shot eyes etc

2) Tongue

Includes swearing, cursing and obscene speech that is generally considered unacceptable. Indeed the angry person himself would be embarrassed of his statements once his anger has calmed down.

3) Limbs

The effect of anger is manifested on the limbs in his wanting to tear things, hurt, beat, wound, perhaps even kill, the one whom he is angry with (if possible). And in the absence of this person’s presence he gives vent to his anger via stamping on the ground or punching the air/walls etc.

4) Heart

These include jealousy, hatred, rancour, malice and so on.

● Its Cure (Anger Management)

A person who suffers from extreme anger should cure himself with the following:

1) Allah’s Remembrance, reflecting over Allah and His attributes – the Mighty and Sublime – will develop a fear of Allah and cause him to be mindful of his actions, consolidating in his mind that he is only a slave of Allah whose goal is to seek out Allah’s pleasure and not His wrath.

"...and remember your Lord when you forget..." [Sūrat al-Kahf 18:24]

ʿIkrimah, one of the great tabiʿī scholars of Tafsīr, said idhā nasīt(a) here means ‘when you get angry’ to give the meaning, ‘Remember Allah when you get angry.’

2) Getting acquainted with the virtues of forgiveness, forbearance, endurance and restraining anger within himself.

Ibn ʿAbbās said that a man upon being permitted to meet ʿUmar said, ‘O Ibn al-Khaṭṭāb! by Allah, you do not give us much (from the public treasury) nor do you judge between us with justice.’ Upon hearing this, ʿUmar became so angry that he was about to punish the man, but Al-Hurr ibn Qays said, ‘O Leader of the Faithful, Allah (subhanAllaahu wa ta'ala) said to His Prophet Muḥammad, Hold to forgiveness; command what is right; and turn away from the ignorant [Sūrat al-Aʿrāf 8:199], and this[man] is one of ‘the ignorant ones.’ ʿUmar took his counsel and restrained his anger. When a person does this, he will know the rewards of suppressing anger and this will restrain him from taking revenge.

3) Fearing Allah’s punishment.

Also, he should realise that Allah’s punishment upon him is greater than what he himself can afflict on anyone. Indeed, the one who takes revenge out of anger should realise that he is liable to Allah’s anger on the Day of Judgement when he will be in dire need of Mercy and Forgiveness. Such reflections encourage one to forgive and show mercy.

4) Being wary of feeling enmity, revenge, and glee at the misfortune of his disputants and remember that he is no freer from being afflicted by calamities than they are.

5) Reflecting on the outward manifestation of anger and its ‘ugly’ nature as opposed to the calm and serene demeanour of the one who restrains himself in anger, for the state of anger distances one from the furthest from the manners and etiquettes of the Prophet’s and noble scholars.

6) Questioning that which entices his rage to pursue revenge; as if it is a result of fearing humiliation that demeans his standing in front of others, he should ask himself if it is worthy to save hisstanding with the people while sacrificing his standing with Allah and those who are beloved to Him.

7) Reminding himself of Allah’s decree and his helplessness in front of this, and that Allah’s will is more deserving of being pleased with than his own will.

8) Reflecting on the consequences of giving vent to excessive anger which inevitably results in regret and feeling remorse. Thus it is better that he save himself the embarrassment and shame of having to apologise later.

9) Appreciating that people avoid those with short tempers. If a person does not control his anger he may eventually find himself alone.

10) Seeking refuge in Allah: One should continuously seek refuge in Allah from Shayṭān, the accursed and rejected one.

Sulayman ibn Sard said: "I was sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and two men were slandering one another. One of them was red in the face, and the veins on his neck were standing out. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘I know a word which, if he were to say it, what he feels would go away. If he said "I seek refuge with Allaah from the Shaytaan," what he feels (i.e., his anger) would go away.’" (Reported by al-Bukhaari, al-Fath, 6/337)

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "If a man gets angry and says, ‘I seek refuge with Allaah,’ his anger will go away." (Saheeh al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer, no. 695)

11) Keep Silent or Changing his physical state.

The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "If any of you becomes angry, let him keep silent." (Reported by Imaam Ahmad, al-Musnad, 1/329; see also Saheeh al-Jaami’, 693, 4027).

It was narrated that Abu Dharr said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to us: “If one of you gets angry when he is standing, let him sit down, and if that does not take away his anger, then let him lie down.” [Narrated by Abu Dawood, 4782; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood.]

12) Increasing in invocations and supplications to Allah to remove these diseases and vices, for only He alone is able to do so.

Du’aa’ is always the weapon of the believer, whereby he asks Allaah to protect him from evil, trouble and bad behaviour and seeks refuge with Him from falling into the pit of kufr (disbelief) or wrongdoing because of anger. One of the three things that can help save him is: being fair at times of contentment and of anger (Saheeh al-Jaami’, 3039). One of the du’aa’s of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was:

"O Allaah, by Your knowledge of the Unseen and Your power over Your creation, keep me alive for as long as You know life is good for me, and cause me to die when You know death is good for me. O Allaah, I ask You to make me fear You in secret and in public, and I ask You to make me speak the truth in times of contentment and of anger. I ask You not to let me be extravagant in poverty or in prosperity. I ask You for continuous blessings, and for contentment that does not end. I ask You to let me accept Your decree, and for a good life after death. I ask You for the joy of seeing Your face and for the longing to meet You, without going through diseases and misguiding fitnah (trials). O Allaah, adorn us with the adornment of faith and make us among those who are guided. Praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the Worlds."

Ramadan 2015: Let's Purify Our Heart

Juz 3 - KEY POINTS TO PONDER

2:253 -Some people have been *preferred* over others, some has been given more. What do you do with it, with your money, with your beauty, with your intellect? It is a test.

2:254 -Know that being popular or having a lot of friends doesnt matter ANYTHING on yawmul Qiyamah. Its about your deeds.
2:255
Realize the greatness of ayatul Kursee and increase in reciting it with FEELING. It protects us from fear, from magic, from jinn. Recite it after each fard prayer and before you go sleep. The greatness lies in the fact Allah azza wa jall is describing Himself in it. Learn the whole translation as when you recite it with conviction it will even be a stronger protection for you.
2:257
Be grateful Allah guided you, do you even realize it was Him who took you out of many darknesses and led you to the Light.
2:260
Whenever you feel weak in faith or you are unsure - look at the examples how Allah brought back to life that which was dead and be in awe of His power. He can surely reassure your heart - all you need to do is ask and take a step towards Him.
2:261-262
Realize being able to give sadaqah is an enormous blessing from Allah one you - each time you give sadaqah ask Allah to accept it and thank Him for giving you the chance and ability.
And never remind others of your generosity as it was not you! If you really did it for Allah alone you don't need appreciation of the creation: keep reminding yourself of this.
Your reward is with Allah.
2:263
Have sabr with people and forgive others if they don't show you the appreciation you wanted.
2:266
See your life as a garden whatever you planted will either show produce on Yawm ul Qiyamah or not. As long as you are sincere even the smallest deed brings many rewards.
2:268
Whenever you are about to give sadaqah and shaytan comes to you whispering "do you really need to give so much, what about those shoes you wanted to buy" expel him and say aoodhu billaahi minash shaytaanir rajeem. Shaytan treatens you with poverty but remind yourself charity only increases your wealth!
2:269
Wisdom regarding spending means: that you know what to spend, where to spend and how to spend to benefit the recipient and yourself the most. Allah for this wisdom regarding spending.
2:271
Make sure you give secret sadaqah regularly.
2:272
Do your best in doing dawah but don't get upset or discouraged when people don't respond- the guidance is from Allah alone.
2:275
Never try to justify dealing with ribaa (interest) to suit your own desires. If you are dealing with ribaa, be strong and step out of it, even if it means wordly loss. Your loss in the akhirah will be frightening.
2:280
Giving someone extra time to pay you back borrowed money (or items) or pardoning them alltogether for the sake of Allah is an act of worship!
2:282
Whenever you are dealing with transactions with another party, realize the importance of writing things down. (eg contracts for big and small matters). Worldwide you see when you buy something you get a receipt - this was prescribed by Allah 1400 years ago!
2:285-286
Read the last two ayaat of Surah Al Baqarah at night and it will be sufficient for you (as protection).
3:7
Never be of those who interpret the ayaat of the Quran according to their own liking, leaving some and following some. Ask Allah for understanding of His Book.
3:8
Keel praying for your heart to remain guided and not to deviate.
3:14
Don't let fashion, children, money and cars distract you from racing towards Paradise. Ask Allah to remove the love of this dunya from your heart.
3:15
The time before fajr is a prescribed time to do istighfaar (seek forgiveness of Allah). Make sure you take five min before fajr to sit down and ask for forgiveness.
3:24
Never think "it's just a little sin" or " eventually I will come out of the fire and go to Paradise". Think of the greatness of the One you are disobeying and His power to make people do a deed of kufr just before they die because they were not sincere in their life. May Allah protect us from this!
3:31
Make an effort to follow as many sunan as you can and you will get the love of Allah and His forgiveness: amazing!
3:35
Make dua for the unborn to be of those who will be for Allah's service.
3:43
When you are young and dealing with lots of temptations in your youth, think of Maryam and how strong she was in her worship.
3:54
Know that whoever plans against you or whatever plans you make which might fail and make you upset - wallaahul khayrul maakireen Allah is the best of Planners!
3:83
The entire creation submits to Allah willingly or unwillingly - be of those who submit to Him with love and devotion!
3:92
When you give something away in sadaqah you love, you will feel the effect on your emaan. Try it.

[Personal Lessons by The Ayah Journal]

************************************************
Please share your reflections and points from Juz 1 in the comments. Jazakumullah Khair. Share the Khair!

May Allah guide us to reflect and act on these points.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

Every good deed of the son of Adam would be multiplied, a good deed receiving a tenfold to seven hundredfold reward. Allah (may He be Glorified and Exalted) says: With the exception of Sawm (Fasting), for it is for Me and I shall reward for it; one abandons their desire and food for My Sake. The fasting person will have two joys: a joy at the time of Iftar (breaking the Fast), and a joy when they meet their Lord. And the mouth odor (of a fasting person) is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk.

- Saheeh Al-Bukhari, Book on fasting, Chapter on should someone say, "I am fasting" when he is insulted?, no. 1904; Saheeh Muslim, Book on fasting, Chapter on excellence of fasting, no. 1151

RasooAllah (sallAllahu 'alyhi wasallam) said:
“The difference between our fasting and that of the people of the book is taking the meal of suhoor.” (Saheeh Muslim)

Even taking a cup of water instead of a meal for suhoor has blessing in it, too.

Al-Bukhaari (1921) narrated from Anas that Zayd ibn Thaabit said: “We ate suhoor with the Prophet (sallAllahu 'alyhi wasallam), then he stood up to pray.” I [Anas] said: “How long was there between the adhaan and suhoor?” He said: “As long as it takes to recite FIFTY verses.”

So to fast in Ramadhaan, it is obligatory to make the intention during the night sometime before the arrival of Fajr of the day being intended to fast. A Muslim's rising up from sleep in the last part of the night and eating the sahoor is an indication of the presence of the intention. It is not required that a person utter the intention by the tongue by saying: "I intend to fast". This is an innovation (bid`ah) and is not permissible. The intention in Ramadhaan is to be done every day (for the next days fast) because each day is a separate act of worship requiring its intention. So the intention for the fast is to be made in the heart for everyday during the night. If someone makes the intention during the night, then sleeps and does not wake up until after the time of Fajr has entered, then his fast is valid due to the presence of the intention from the night.

Shaykh Ibn Fowzaan
Fataawa Ramadhaan - Volume 1, Page 162, Fatwa No. 95;

•ஐ• •ஐ• •ஐ• •ஐ• •ஐ• •ஐ• • •ஐ• •ஐ•

Allaah's Messenger (sallAllahu 'alyhi wasallam) said: "If one of you hears the call to Prayer and the vessel is in his hand, then let him not put it down until he has fulfilled his need from it."
(Sunan of Aboo Daawood, Imam Ahmad)

So Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, spoke truly when He said at the end of those Aayahs related to Fasting:

'Allaah desires to make things easy for you, and He does not desire to make things difficult for you.'

and '...that you should complete the number of days, and that you should glorify Allaah by mentioning takbeer for His having guided you, and that you should be thankful. '

So therefore from the Fiqh that is to be criticized, and which runs contrary to this Sunnah, is that a person says, "If someone hears the Adhaan and has some food in his mouth, then he must spit it out." So this is over strictness, and (ghuluww) exceeding the limits in the Religion, and the Lord of all of the creation admonished us, and reminded us, in His Book and in the Sunnah of His Prophet (saws) that we should not exceed the due limits in our Religion. So He said, in the Noble Quraan:

'O People of the Book! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, and do not say anything about Allaah except the truth.'

And our Messenger (sallAllahu 'alyhi wasallam) said, "Beware of (ghuluww) exceeding the limits in the Religion. Because those who came before you were destroyed by their exceeding the limits in their Religion."

So Allaah's Messenger (sallAllahu 'alyhi wasallam) has made it clear to us that there is latitude and a margin of ease in the matter of a person's taking suhoor, to the extent that he said: "If one of you hears the call to Prayer whilst the vessel is in his hand, then let him not put it down until he has completed his need from it."
(Sunan of Aboo Daawood, Imam Ahmad)

•ஐ• •ஐ• •ஐ• •ஐ• •ஐ• •ஐ• • •ஐ• •ஐ•

Do not forget to "SHARE THE KHAIR "! :)
Jazakumullah Khair!

●|● This Ramadhaan fast with your HEART - by Sister Asma Bint Shameem ●|●

Alhamdulillaah, a unique, a generous and a honorable guest has knocked at our door....a guest that visits us once a year and brings with it immeasurable blessings and happiness. A guest that brings with it the wide Mercy and Forgiveness of Allah. A guest that brings with it the smell of Jannah and the sweetness of Imaan....

That special guest, of course, is Ramadhaan.

Ramadhaan is the month of the Qur'aan, the month of Mercy, the month of Forgiveness, the month of making dua and prayer at night, of Iftaar and Suhoor.

And, Alhamdulillaah most of us are fasting.
However, it is HOW we are fasting that is of utmost importance.
Some of us are fasting by staying away from food, drink....but, alas, it is just that and no more.....
Because they do not keep their hands from committing evil and their tongues from committing evil and their eyes and ears from committing evil.

The Prophet (Sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: "Whoever does not give up false speech and acting upon it, Allaah has no need of his giving up his food and drink." (Bukhaari)

And the Prophet (Sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) also said: "It may be that the fasting person gets nothing from his fast apart from hunger, and it may be that the one who prays qiyaam at night may get nothing from his qiyaam but a sleepless night." (Ibn Maajah)

And some of us are fasting, not only staying away from food and drink, etc., but also watching our ears, eyes, tongue, hands and feet and keeping them away from sin. And this is definitely better than the first kind of fasting.

And then there is the third and BEST kind of fasting....the kind of fasting that Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta'ala loves and will be pleased with.....the kind of fasting we ALL should aim for and strive for.

And that is the fasting of the HEART.

The fasting of the heart is done by emptying it of all evil, all corruption.

It means getting rid, from our hearts, all forms of shirk, bid'ah, false beliefs, evil thoughts, filthy intentions and immoral ideas.
In fact, the fasting heart is only, and only, filled with the love of Allaah and the desire to please Him.

Its intention is pure, for the sake of Allaah, Alone.
It corrects its Aqeedah and rejects all doubts and false forms of worship.

It stays away from greed, envy, enmity and pride.
It stays away from arguments, gossip and gheebah.
It rejects stinginess and extravagance.
It places complete trust in Allaah, full of patience and serenity.
It doesn't hold any grudges, anger or hatred. It readily forgives anyone and everyone, no matter how much harm or grief they caused it.
It is free of deception, slyness and hypocrisy.
It is conscious of Allaah throughout the day and night, doing its utmost to do good deeds and staying away from all that is haraam.....aware of every thought that crosses his mind, every word that he utters, every action that he commits, lest it be displeasing to his Creator, the Almighty.

The fasting heart is generous and kind.....eager to give in the path of Allaah, not only the obligatory Zakaah, but extra acts of charity, of money and time and effort, with the intention of pleasing Allaah alone, hoping for a reward from Him.

Its day is spent in complete obedience to Allaah and its night in humble prayer.
At the time of Iftaar, such a heart is overwhelmed with gratitude and thankfulness to the Lord, Almighty for providing him with such abundant food, such immense blessings....

When this heart recites the Qur'aan, it is completely softened and totally overcome by the Power of the Words of the Almighty....understanding them, contemplating over them, determined to implement them in his life.

When the fasting heart stands in front of Allaah, it stands with utmost humility, eyes downcast, trembling with modesty, ashamed of its deeds, submitting completely to His Will.

It spontaneously exclaims.....

Yaa Allaah, I will no longer be a slave to MY whims and desires. Rather, I am a slave to YOU, O Allaah. My desires, my excuses don't count anymore. From now on, I submit ONLY to what YOU order me to do.

And as it stands for prayer, it does so, full of love for the Almighty....full of awe and Khushoo'....full of fear of His Wrath....and yet, full of hope for His Mercy.

As this heart listens to the recitation of the Qur'aan in Taraweeh, tears overflow from it. Uncontrollable tears of repentance....tears of regret and remorse, for all its previous deeds....all its previous sins....all its previous mistakes.
It cries out......

Yaa Allaah, You are the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful......forgive me!

I regret all my prior mistakes! I repent to you and I return to you!

This heart vows to do its utmost best from now on. It promises Allaah to obey Him to the best of his ability, resolving to stay away from sin, determined to set his life aright.

O Brother and Sister in Islaam,

Are there any hearts out there that are willing to fast like that??!!

The heart of the believer fasts during Ramadhaan and outside of Ramadhaan.

It is from the immense mercy of Allah upon us that He made us Muslims and believers and that He has extended our lives so that we have reached this Ramadhaan.

It is reported that the Sahaabah used to pray to Allah during the six months before Ramadhaan to extend their lives so that they can reach Ramadhaan, and in the 6 months after Ramadhaan, they would pray to Allaah to accept their fasting of Ramadhaan.

So take this great opportunity that Allaah, the Most Merciful has provided you with.

Make the most of this it and don't let it pass you by.

FAST THIS RAMADHAAN WITH YOUR HEART.

JUZ 2 – SURAH AL-BAQARAH – KEY POINTS TO PONDER
Ayah 2:142 – 2: 252: (Part 1)

*Change of Qibla (2:142- 2:145)
*A Believer's Aim should be to race to do good deeds. (2:148)
*Having fear of Allah, and abstaining from sins makes one gain the blessings of Allah Almighty and His Guidance. (2:150)
*Remembrance of Allah strengthens our Faith (2:151 – 2:152)
*Never be ungrateful and impatient due to trials of life (2:153- 2:155)
*Safa and Marwa – these two places remind us of the sacrifice of Hajar, her patience and her eeman. If you are stuck in a hardship alone like her then keep reminding yourself by saying Raditubilla hi Rabba (I am pleased with Allah as my Lord) ( 2:158 )
*Always eat Halal (food that is allowed) and Tayyab (pure), and don’t follow the footsteps of Satan. (2:168- 2:169)
*Let Taqwa be your provision especially during Umrah and Hajj. (2:197)

*Never prefer dunya for temporary benefits, our top priority should be the teachings of Qur’an and we have to follow them by all means. (2:175)
*Fasting is an important pillar of Islam, due to which we can attain Taqwa. (2:183- 2:184)
*Always hasten towards good, and get benefit from every kind of good deed, so that we would become Siddeeq (Truthful one) and Muttaqi (One with Taqwa) (2:177)
*Allah is close to His servants, He says He responds when they make du'aa to Him sincerely (2:186)
*Islam is the religion of peace, the only war is to remove oppression and Fitnah, indeed fitnah is worse than killing (2:191)
*Allah knows what is good for us, And He knows more than us so be content what He has bestowed on you, and never be displeased with His decisions. (2:219-2:220)
*Aqeedah is important, never compromise on it just to marry a person you like, this ayah gives criteria what should be chosen during marriage (2:221)
*Important law of divorce, islam teaches us to be kind even dealing matters of divorce, never ignore ordained limits of Allah (2:227-2:229)
*When a widow has fulfilled her term (iddah), she can remarry where she likes in a reasonable allowed manner. (2:234)
*Support the cause of deen with intention to please Allah, hard work and lots of supplication. (2:250)

************************************************
Please share your reflections and points from Juz 1 in the comments. Jazakumullah Khair. Share the Khair!

May Allah guide us to reflect and act on these points.
●|● Ramadan 2015: Let's Purify Our Heart - THE HEART ●|●

Al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “Faith is not the matter of wishes or outward appearances, rather it is that which settles in the heart and is confirmed by one's actions.”

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “If the heart is sound in terms of faith, knowledge and feelings, then this will inevitably lead to the soundness of physical actions, such as verbal statements and deeds. As the leading scholars of hadeeth said: Words and deeds, both inward and outward. What is outward must follow what is inward, so if what is inward is sound then what is outward will also be sound, and if it (the former) is corrupt, (the latter) will also be corrupt. Hence one of the Sahaabah said concerning the one who prayed carelessly: If his heart had been humble and focused, his body would have been humble and focused.

[Majmoo’ al-Fataawa, 7/187]

Ramadan 2015: Let's Purify Our Heart
