Its the time of the year again for Reflection! 2011 has been fast... without noticing, we are about to welcome 2012. Here I'm again, to re-look at my past blog post to refresh my memory. This is again the reason why I am still keeping this blog even though Facebook and Tweeter are becoming more and more popular. Who has the time, at this era to read a long blog post like this. Anyway, this is more for myself. We will all age and it will come to a point where we mix up the events and the time they took place.

So, in Jan 2011, I went to Bangkok with my family and Cy. It is my second time in Bangkok and nothing much changed. lol Shopping is still good and food remains sinful.

In Feb 2011, it was Valentines' Day! Cy and I had our lunch celebration at Au Petite Salut and he bought me a Nex-3! This gift changed our lifestyle. lol We become slightly more interested in photography and I learned how to use light room. :)

As mentioned, we took more photos after Nex-3!

In Feb, I also started our my new journey with a school for special needs. My second career is a school-to-work coordinator! hah... fast forward 10 months, I am a psychologist. whee...

In March 2011, I went home for Dad's bday. As much as I like my job, my weekends were compromised. Thus, I have lesser time to go home.

Also in March, I completed a 3 days 2 night camp in OBS. No picture as my students are to remained confidential. It is this camp that I did Jetty jump, quarry jump, 6 hours of hike carrying at least 6kg of bag and belaying. Well, it is once a lifetime experience.

Here comes May 2011. Its Cy's bday! Xia Shien and Sin Ye came over and we had a surprise bbq for Cy! :)

It is only after 6 months from our BKK getaway, Cy and I finally left Singapore for another short trip. 2 days 1 night stay at Ubin. Hmmm, the trip was not fantastic but still a short trip. :P

July 2011. Our 9th year anniversary. Cy planned a secret holiday! Krabi.... Though the weather was not kind to us, we still manage to enjoy ourselves.

Nov 2011 was all about work! I was so busy as I transit to become a psychologist.

Last but certainly not least, Dec 2011. We completed another half marathon since Sundown in 2010. :) We hurt our knees and was not able to walk properly the next few days. lol Now, I shall think twice before I sign up for another 21km!

Christmas has just ended. Celebration was not those bombastic onces but I think I really enjoyed myself. We didnt go back to malacca as a friend's wedding fell on the 24th. So, we had to stay back in Sg.

Eve of christmas eve

Its the eve of christmas' eve. Weird that Cy is out tonight and no one else is home. I had my usual combi of dinner. Yogurt with oat, Milo with crackers. After dinner, I did my laundry, watched my TVB dramas and went to gym.

Nothing unusual but at this time of the year, I will usually reflect on what the year has been. 2011 has been very fast. I contracted myself to my second career, in a school for special needs. When people ask if I like it at the school, I will definitely say yes. I will want to continue to make my impact for the students. Like what my ex-principal said, "we are here to impact, not to impress".

Today is also one of my colleague's last day and in my organization, when people leave, they usually send a goodbye email. As I am reading hers, I typed another colleague's name in the search bar to look for her goodbye email. I usually delete all goodbye emails, except for the latter colleague which I mentioned. I search for mail, as I know I still have it.

She wrote a farewell email to all who are still with the organization. In her email, she mentioned that she started her journey in the school with high spirit and motivation to impact. Though little, she want to explore how much difference can she make. After a year, she tendered and left. As I read, I started to wonder her departure. Why did she leave when she wanted to impact? This is the reason I kept her email. Till today, I have yet got the answer.

As I am writing this post, I am wondering and thinking of possible reasons which I may end up writing those goodbye emails....

Its my second half marathon! The very first one that Cy and I did was Sun Down Half Marathon in 2010. That time, we were considered fit and prepared. The daily training in NTU allowed us the confidence to sign up.

However, this time, I signed up myself. Cy didn't want to do any marathon anymore because his knee hurt so badly last year. So, I trained on my own, with my colleagues and Cy, but most of the time, I don't have the discipline like last year because of work.

So i was mentally preparing myself to run solo until 2 days before the race. Cy's colleague gave him his race bip to run for free! :)

We started today's race at 630am, and managed to finish in 3 hrs and 15 mins. :) So proud of ourselves but we both suffered painful knees right now. In fact, I never felt so painful before in my running years. Today, I finally understand how painful it can be. It failed me at 18 to 19km, was unable to run anymore. So, we just slow jogged and walked.

It was already 3 weeks since the Taiwan trip. Felt like ages since I have the holiday. Thanks to all the work load that I have... Life has been hectic but I decided to blog about the trip before forgetting everything.

Finding peace between hassles

This week has been mad. After two weekends of working without any rest day, last weekend was a blessing. Did everything I wanted at one go. Seems imbalance to do this way, but just cant seems to spread them. Did cycling with to Little GuiLin via the park connector at our place for acrylic painting.

Im never good at art but i thought painting on canvas would be fun. I see how my students direct them focus on it and never out burst during painting. Unless, something happened to their art la but thats not the point.

I would say painting is fun, allows concentration on details that i normally dont. I think it trains patience as well as it will definitely look ugly at the start. So never give up on fine tuning it with contrasts and other colors.

And ya. Went for Dinner and dance. Lots of lucky draw prizes an theres 4 ppl from my table that got it but not me! I just dun have such luck~

After so long, google finally launched their own blogger app on iphone! It takes so long since we have facebook app, pen-a-blog app, tweeter app and etc etc

Even when its so late, the app is still very basic. A lot more to improve. Nonetheless, at least its here now and i could blog more often. :)

little joy between work

It has been 2 weekends since my birthday weekend. I was working all the time without rest. Brought some students down to Chinatown for service learning, attended first aid course for 3 days, went back to office to work, mid-autumn festival yesterday and a final service learning session today.

I am looking forward for this coming weekend. I know I will have it for myself. All by myself. hehe. :) No matter what, I still manage to find some time to get some fun between work.

Ballet lesson on every Wednesday is something that I look forward to. Its fun! Love my instructor who is always so nice. Even when I look awfully stupid in the mirror, she will assure that I am getting it. Shall try to persevere and get some certificates. hehe

Besides, Cy has been great supporting me at and after work. Here are some places we go after my work.

Following the day after our sumptuous dinner, Cy arranged a spa appointment for me at Mary Chia. He insisted that I go alone and he will meet me at Sentosa after that. I already suspected that there will be people waiting for me there!

After the spa, I headed straight to Sentosa. And when cy brought me to the Costa Sand chalet, my family is already there waiting for me! :)

I turned 25 few days back! Every year, Dino will make it very very special. :) This year is definitely not exceptional. There was a lot of secrets before that and he disallow me to ask questions. zzz

On the 26th Aug, he brought me to Sentosa for dinner. It was a al fresco restaurant. It over looks to the golf course and a gigantic tree that was surrounded by lots of peacocks. :)

Batam short getaway.

I bought the deal from deal.com.sg months back. After at least 2-3 times of re-scheduling, Cy and I finally settled on a date to redeem our trip to Batam. Too difficult to find a good time where both of us are free, especially during the week days. Anyway, it was good and as we both are in our current job, we get a lot of flexibility to take off. :))

So, we set off to Batam last Monday. Took the 12pm ferry from Harbour Front. It was our first time. The ferry tickets are quite expensive, $40 for two-ways and it was not even straight to our destination. Had a stop at sekupang before reaching waterfront.

Luckily the ferry was quite big so, it was quite stable through the journey. It took us about an hour before reaching Waterfront.

Upon checking in to our resort, we got served lunch! yep, the voucher we bought included free land transfer, lunch, breakfast, and bowling. :)

Starter

Food was so-so. Was not fantastic. Cy had some stewed beef while I ordered chicken cajun. We were so full after the meal cause they served us complimentary fruits. Each of us had our very own fruit platter.

After the meal, we went to Nagoya, the so called newest shopping plaza in Batam town. Its about 30-40 minutes drive from Harris resort. The place is so run down. Reminds me a lot of the old malacca. Anyway, we spent most time in the hypermarket. Cy and I bought a lot of indo-mee. lol damn cheap!

Dinner was our cup noodle. lol. We didnt want to waste money on expensive hotel buffet.

The next day, the breakfast was quite good. :) Cereals and omelet for breakfast. :)

There were lots of cats around during breakfast. Fed them with omelet, sausages and bread.

The water was not fantastic but it was calm even though it was open sea. Cy and I kayak-ed for 30 minutes. Each of us had our own kayak. haha.

We had some Indonesian food in a nearby warung. Well, we still got to pay in Sg! zzz. Chi Tzar price.

9th Year - Krabi trip

13th July was our 9th year anniversary. Cy bought a trip and kept the destination secret from me. All I had to do was to take leaves. I was so so excited and I keep guessing and guessing where he will bring me. But, some giveaways were that it will not be very far as we are only away for 4D3Ns, and he said not anywhere cold. So it should be beaches. and yep, I was right!

KRABI.

The weather was rainy and cloudy when we were there. Quite sad that it kept raining. And we were also lucky that the day we booked our sea outing was not raining. :)

As the weather was not good for outdoor, we spend our time on massage, pedicure and medicure! Spend some time lazing in a coffee shop, sipping our cappuccino and writing post cards! :)

Nevertheless, the food is definitely a highlight is Thailand. In krabi, there are a lot of western cum thai cuisine restaurants along the beach. The pizza was only 150baht! That is like less 6 dollar! Super cheap... Cy and I decided to try out and it turned out to be good! Cocktail was only $220 and it was on buy 1 free 1 bargain! lol

Street food was also damn good! Got that ikan bakar for only 50 baht! tsk tsk. so ridiculous.. :)

Yep. not many things to elaborate on the trip. We just spend a lot of time together doing nothing. hehe... :) Now that we are back from hols, there's a lot to do at work.

too many things in life...

Im too busy. Everyday my mind and time is very very occupied with everything like work, side line business, tvb drama, exercising, loosing weight, iphone, ipad, etc etc

Until this morning, Cy called me when I was on the MRT to work. He told me that he felt dizzy and he could see stars. Immediately, I am frozen and don't know what to do. I admit that I already think the worse case and I could not lift my feet to head home. I am quite stupid to be catastrophic but just imagine one day, its not that minor. I continued on with my initial plan, doing things within my control but at the back of my head, I stay frozen. Anyway, Cy is fine k. Doctor said its pre-set of migraine.

Well, looking back, if tomorrow is my last day, I still have no answer on what I will do. I live on the principal of living life to the fullest. That is why I occupied and stuff myself with doing all sorts of stuff. Then I notice that life is too short to do everything I want. For example, I want to be a psychologist, but that requires a few years to study. At the same time, I want to be rich, own my own property and raring a dog. So how can I achieve the latter by spending a few years studying and not having income. Sad to say, life is short!

So, instead of living life to the fullest, I started to reflect that living one day at a time suits me more. :) I find that I am happier and contented. I started my very first ballet class yesterday. It was like living my childhood dream! I enjoyed myself very much. :) haha

Cy and I will be going off for a vacation next week. Til now, I have not find out where is it as its a surprise. Happy advanced 9 years anniversary!

Real LOVE

I do not have the answer if people ask if real love works even though I have been in a relationship for almost 9 years. However, I do believe that love do not disappoint those who believes in it. Yet, some disclaimers have to made here. Love only does not make a relationship works. Love powers a lot of other things. Constant effort to make it work is what I think is utmost important. Constantly thinking of what to do to love your the other half more, constantly thinking of how to show more love and care or the other half, and constantly thinking of the other person. :)

This coming 13th July marks our 9th anniversary! Though it was not a smooth sailing relationship, we believe we have overcame a lot, bearing in mind that there are more to come.

Cy is going to bring me for a vacation! I am really really excited about it. I do not know the exact place, but we are going off for 4 days 3 nights. hehe...

Shall update once I get to see the tickets on 13th morning! But for now, there are 2 weeks of hard work at work! 3 Days 2 Night camp on this weekend, followed by 5 full days of work and another event on Saturday! hmmm.. no weekend for 2 weeks ahead!

It has been sometime since I find some personal time to blog. Its school holiday hence, my workplace has turned from a highly hectic place to a relaxing and peaceful environment. Its like how you walk in to you primary school and finds out that there is no school. Only a few teachers working overtime and they are not in their usual formal attire. lol

I am enjoying the peace at school while trying to catch up with all the paper work but at the same time, I kinda miss the students. Their greetings and noise. hehe...

At the same time, Cy has started his second job as a stock broker. It is what he has always wanted to do. So, I really hope that he finds his true passion.

And both of us are working really hard towards a common goal. Not to keep it, but we both want to lead a luxury life! haha... so we got to try and work hard! :)) I can't to the time where I wake up at my own time, goes to the gym/run in the morning, then come back home to do some simple yoga, then prepare some healthy oat with fruits breakfast... I already feel happier by imaging that day! :)

Things started to see some light and we are working towards it. lol I will consider sharing with all here when it is more confirmed. :P

Also, I am dying to go for some holiday. Where ever it is, because I feel as though I have not fly for a long time. I have no specific location but yea, where ever la! I already got my tickets to Taiwan in October but its like 4 more months? tsk.

Oh ya, I was home last weekend to see my family. It didnt go very well because I got to attend some family function. I think my parents have not grew out of the idea that I need to follow them where ever they go and I can't have my own plans. My youngest sister on the other hand was a surprise to me. Gone were the days where she never shouts at me. oh well, this is what I get for not going back often enough.

Getaway to Ubin

Cy and I headed to Pulau Ubin, an island belongs to Singapore. It is totally opposite of Singapore, where there is no high rise building, no crowded mrt/buses, not even a 7-11. All they had was a jetty, shop houses made of wood renting bicycles to tourists/visitors and restaurants. So, we thought that it would be fun to return to nature after being stucked at work and the city for months.

Unfortunately, the weather was not at our favor. It rained so heavily the morning we travelled to Ubin. Singapore actually got flooded, while it only drizzle in Ubin. So, we cycled in the rain and luckily we didnt get sick. anyway, the cycling trail was madness due to the slopes and down hills (it was so steep that i dont dare to cycle down). anyway, we survived and made to Chek Jawa.

But the "resort" had fish spa, so we tried and it was so so ticklish! The fishes were so hungry that they will just suck on to your feet! Scary...

Yep, that was a short getaway. Going home this weekend. And er, I am beginning to think that I travel so little this year. :((

Cy and I went to Botanic Garden last Sunday for picnic. Only manage to buy a some grapes and pistachio nuts there but I think it was enough. Even though weather was hot, we still enjoy lying on our picnic mats, reading our books and surfing on ipad. Manage to take some photos too.

Its a public holiday! Thanks to Vesak Day that I am able to stay at home on a Tuesday afternoon. Spent my afternoon swimming and lazing beside the pool side eating mango! haha

A meaningful day out...

I spent my long weekend of Mother's Day and Singapore polling day working. Instead of celebrating it with my mom at home, I celebrated with about 20 other mothers of my students. It was quite frustrating to know that I can't be home to thank my own mom because of work, nevertheless, it was a meaningful mother days this year.

Started today with preparation of the sandwich ingredients for the students and their families. I was in-charge of cutting the cucumbers and opening up the tuna cans. We worked in a team of 4 and I think it was a good work at the end because we have an expert chef. :) Lots of industry practices and all. :)

When families started to come in, we started of with sandwich making and it was good. Everyone seems to be working together and I know my colleagues and I have just created a chance for them to do something together. After the sandwich making, I brought the students aside to write a thank you card for their mothers. Its funny to see some students who wrote in their cards 'Happy Birthday'. They are that adorable. :)

After that, the students gathered in a group and gave a shout-out HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY. My heart melted right away. My students are average 18 years old and it is so sincere and warm that they wish their mothers. They are like big kids, literally.

When we set off to Botanical Garden, they laid their mats and ate their sandwiches. I joined some of the families and really feel so appreciated when some mothers came and thanked me personally for organizing such activities.

I am just so glad that I am at this place...

little spices in between work

Even though what I have given up from my previous job was precious as much as I love doing clinical related job, my current job gives me a whole lot of different things to do. In other words, it allows me to try and test new novel job. Though there are some use of my psychology knowledge when i interact with students and their families, what I do most is organizing events for them. It is fun to see how the events can be successful and my students enjoy themselves.

The next event that we can organizing is a picnic at Botanical Garden. So, my partner and I went to recce the place... hehe at 3pm, under the bright hot sun. Nevertheless, I would regard this as little fun that we can get from just sitting in the office.

It only takes 3 days to make me feel as though I am a free person. I forgot that I am a working adult. It felt good to have fun for the past 3 days and re-charge to be ready to go to work tomorrow. There is some reluctance but there are certain things that I am looking forward to at work. This week will be packed with some preparation to bring my students for picnic. :)

Anyway, that past 3 days had been happening as Xia Shien and Sin Ye visited Singapore and it was Dino's birthday. He turned 25 today! :) There are a lot to describe with words by I will just summarize with photos.

It was a luxury to be able to walk to the car. haha and it was great to no need to wear dress and climb up and down the public transport. Thanks to Xia shien's car..

I discovered that I could take black-and-white photos with NEX 3! haha

We got to take a photo with the car. We were able to get to inaccessible places. That is why we chose to have our lunch at Prive at Keppel Bay. It would be very un-glam to walk into Keppel Bay.

At Prive bakery and cafe. The food was not fantastic but I suppose the environment was good. It oversees the sea and yatch. Rich people place. Nevertheless, I got to say that the service was bad.

Long weekend

Yay. Its my first long weekend after 2 months of hard work. As said, i like the new job but it is definitely more demanding than my previous job. A lot to do and there are more to be done. To let you know better, the culture is that if you are not busy, means you are not working.

Anyway, thanks to Good Friday, we manage to enjoy a good weekend. I cooked twice yesterday n today.

Cooked steak with butter prawn and brocolli yesterday for dinner. The beef was only medium, as i was scare to make it too hard. Then, cy and i were quite worried to see more blood oozing out when we cut it, so decided to cook it again. Lol

Fried bee hoon. My first time. Had to stir fry the mushrooms first. Then put in egg, the bee hoon, vege and the stir fried mushroom. I forgot bout the seasoning i bought! But it turned out good with only salt, light salt, pepper, and black sause. Lol

Also today, cy and i took the chance of a lazy saturday to go o JB. Went there in the morning for k-box, then red riding hood and lastly, shop for groceries and ta pau secret recipe cakes!! :)

Btw, red riding hood wasnt that bad. We were guessing for the real ware wolve the whole time and it was not easy. So, at least it wasnt predictable. :)

Also said, i was working very hard for the past 2 months. I felt like i am years into my job because i have done so many things, 1 significant project for the school, 3 meetings hosted and organized by my partner (who is also new to the job), 3d2n OBS camp, at least 3 trainings, 1 assessments (passed), and 1 trekking edventure. Lol the above photo was taken last tuesday. My colleagues and i went to recce the route from Mount faber to kent ridge park. We were to bring our students for a hike. If you are thinking it is an easy route, why need to recce, its because my students are all specials! :)

Yes, even though im only 2 month into the school, i have learned a lot especially from them. I know whats genuine, whats sincere and whats kind. They are really sweet. :)

Ok. Back to my weekend. Tomorrow is Sunday and we are going to give our morning to God. For him only we are having such wonderful weekend.

I wanted to blog with photos but just too lazy to send it to my laptop from my iphone. Didn't bring out my Nex over the weekend because Cy and I already have too much to carry. We are in the midst of preparing for tests! He is sitting for his broker qualifying exams and I am having a written and oral assessment for a certificate this thursday.

So, we are kinda like back to NTU days where we will hang out at canteens or cafes mugging! It has been a long time since I actually highlight readings and try to understand the whole content from a book. :P We are even more into re-living our NTU days just now because we went for our usual night jog. I miss those time when the hands in the clock merely mean numbers. It does not matter if its 2am and I am still awake. It does not matter if its 12pm and I am swimming under the sun. It does not matter if its already 6.30am and I am still asleep! hehe

Anyway, no matter what, i am still enjoying the life now. Less stressful compared to studying. :) And I am more happy to be settled down in my new found job. I find it very fulfilling and meaningful, and I am not complaining even though I have to type reports on weekends. lol

Singapore zoo again~

Went to Singapore Zoo again with Cy. lol It is our 6th visit to the zoo in 7 months. We still have a few more months before our membership expires in August.

Started our day with brunch at MacD! Had our coffee fix in the McCafe at Chuo Chu Kang. Only $2.50 for a cup of Cappuccino. Yummy... :)

From there, we boarded bus 729 to the Zoo.

behind me are the giraffes. do you know that they only sleep less than 4 hours a day and they stand when they are asleep. hah. something i learned today.

Took still while standing on one foot. Cy actually have to hold me or I will fall. I was hoping it can be more colorful.

Its great to finally visit the Zoo. We have been planning this visit for almost a month and we finally went. There are more to explore and we cant finish the zoo in a day! Maybe one more visit before our membership expires.

Life has been busy! and its really not easy to cope with so many things happening around us. Literally, there are tonnes of decisions to make each day and we are busy deciding what we want. Well, there is one more favorite photo here before I end this post.
