Google's Nexus One Photos

"GooglePhone", the Nexus One has been officially unveiled by Google (in chagrin with HTC) at its much talked about Android Press Event earlier today.It is the first time Google has designed and sold its own consumer hardware device.The phone, termed by Google as a "superphone".

The unlocked Nexus One would set you back by a cool USD 529, (Rs.25,000) which seems to be a good price for the phone of this calibre. That by the way sure does not look like the price at which the Nexus One will arrive officially in India! That said, the current iteration of the phone does NOT support the 3G bands that will be operational in India (hopefully, this year). However, Google has confirmed that more localized versions of the Nexus One is on the anvil -- so we have that bit covered.

Samsung Corby Pop set to hit Indian Market priced below the Rs 7000

Samsung has decided to launch ‘Samsung Corby Pop’ in Indian market with a relatively cheaper price tag.

Apparently, the handset features an integrated FM radio, a 1.3-megapixel camera, 22MB internal memory and a 960 mAh battery for avid talkers to continue their conversation for about 8 hours. The Corby Pop is expected to be priced below Rs 7000 Rs market. There is no word as to when this one will be launched.

The first picture of the recently confirmed Google Phone has been revealed courtesy of San Francisco blogger Cory O'Brien.

Assuming this is a legitimate picture rather than a fake, then it's clear that Google's new handset is very similar to the HTC Passion, albeit without the branding and the 'X' logo would seem to support the suggested Nexus One title.

Google Chrome OS To Launch Within A Week

In July of this year, Tech Crunch reported that Google dropped a Nuclear bomb on Microsoft, And It's Made of Chrome.

Today Tech Crunch reported that it is set to launch within a week.

On Googles Blog, it is stated;

Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Because we're already talking to partners about the project, and we'll soon be working with the open source community, we wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve

Google is being very tight lipped about the launch, and in fact has no official word on its Chrome site.

Possibly being aimed at the Notebook/Laptop/Netbook market, this new OS coming into any market has a lot of rungs to climb up the ladder of success. Can Google skip a few ? Will it take two steps forward and three back ? Only time will tell.

Fake Facebook e-mail contains Trojan

A new variant of the Bredolab Trojan horse is attached to a fake "Facebook Password Reset Confirmation" e-mail, security firm MX Labs is reporting.

MX Lab detected a new Bredolab variant masking itself as the “Facebook Password Reset Confirmation”. The From address in the email is shown as “The Facebook Team ” but the real SMTP from address is spoofed.

The attachment has the name Facebook_Password_4cf91.zip and includes the file Facebook_Password_4cf91.exe. the part between _ and .zip at the end is choosen randomly and contains letters and numbers.

The trojan is known as Trojan.Downloader.Bredolab.AZ (BitDefender), Bredolab.gen.a (McAfee) or W32/Obfuscated.D2!genr (Norman) and is only detected by 14 of the 41 AV engines at Virus Total.

Bredolab is a trojan horse that downloads and executes files from the Internet, such as rogue anti-spyware. To bypass firewalls, it injects its own code into legitimate processes svchost.exe and explorer.exe. Bredolab contains anti-sandbox code (the trojan might quit itself when an external program investigates its actions).

However, Facebook has said that such types of mails were not coming from the social network. The users have been advised to use the anti-malware software to heal the virus infection.

A Facebook spokesperson said, "This virus is being distributed through email, not on Facebook."

Be careful what emails you open on your computer. Some emails that you get may contain virus', worms, adware, spyware or other malicious files. As soon as you open the email you will be infected. Infections by virus', worms, adware and spyware may go unnoticed, you may not even know you are infected.

lways have your antivirus software running. There are several different antivirus softwares on the market that you can use. These are a must. You will get hit by a virus if you get email. Never browse the Internet or check your email without it.

Use an adware program to check your system at least once a month, more is possible. Most of them are free unless you want to monitor your system constantly like the antivirus software does, that costs a little more. How to Hide Scraps from Friends on Orkut

Orkut security features allow you to hide your scraps from people who are not in your list. But few times we have some bully friends and want to hide our scraps from them. You might be having your home members in your friends list and don’t want them to see your scraps for any reason. Since Orkut does not provide any official way to do this, we will play with some Orkut features to accomplish this trick. Now, you can hide scraps from friends, let’s know how to do this.

If you can recall, Orkut started a new Orkut Spam feature recently. Orkut spam is a spam protection that removes all spam scraps (at least Orkut thinks so, most of the time they are not spam) to a spam box folder. That spam box folder is accessible to you only. Orkut spam box look like the below screenshot.

Since Orkut spam box and it’s contents are visible to you ONLY, moving a scrap from your scrapbook to your spam box will make your scrap hidden in scrapbook. Let’s know how to do this.

In the above screenshot you can notice a check box just to the left hand side of your scraps. Check that box.
Click on Report Spam button to report that message as spam.
Now that scrap has been moved to your spam box and can be accessed by you only.
None of your friends will be able to see that scrap now.
You are done.

I know, this is not a healthy trick, but there is a saying “Something is always better than nothing”. As far as my personal view goes, hiding scraps from orkut friends will make Orkutting a bit boring. This open social network is for open friendship, why to limit it’s scope?

Orkut privacy feature allows someone to lock scraps from strangers, but there is no official way to lock and hide scraps from your friends. If you have got something personal in your scrapbook or simply want to hide scraps from your friends, you can now do this by using another Orkut feature. Well, you won’t be able to hide all your scraps or entire scrapbook from your friends, just a limited no of scraps (though there is no specified limit). We will use Orkut spam feature to hide scraps from our friends.

Orkut spam filter is designed to filter all spam looking scraps (scraps with rich text, HTML tag, flash contents, external links, external images etc) and send them to the spam box associated with your profile. This spam box is visible to you only. Now if you intentionally mark a scrap as spam and move it to the spam box, that will get hidden to all of your friends and the scrap will be visible to you only.

Trick to Hide Orkut Scraps from Friends

Navigate to your Orkut scrapbook.
Select the scrap that you want to hide from friends.
Click on report spam button to move that scrap to your spam box.
Now that scrap will be visible to you only and none of your friends can see it.
You are done.

If you want to see that scrap, simply click on spam link. You can find it on the left sidebar of your Orkut profile and it looks like this: I know that it’s not the perfect solution, however, since Orkut is not providing any official solution to this, you can follow this trick to hide Orkut scraps from friends.

Many of us don’t like adding unknown people to our friends list on Orkut. However there are people who keep sending friend requests to every other person just to increase their friends count. Personally speaking, each day I get 20+ requests on Orkut, but my friends list is limited to 112 only at this moment.
