Make sure to read up on pugs as they do require special care. Their cute flat faces make it easy for them to have breathing problems or overheat, so you need to make sure to watch their temp. They LOVE food and can be somewhat sedentary, so make sure to watch that they don’t gain weight. Special attention must also be paid to pugs’ wrinkles (wash and dry them out so that bacteria doesn’t grow in the folds, yuck), and ears (they are susceptible to ear infections, so make sure to clean them out). Make sure to “pug proof” your house because pugs’ eyes are easily injured (they stick out a lot more than other dogs’!). Also, like any other dog, unexpected health problems may arise, so make sure to save up enough money for emergency vet visits before you get a pug. But overall, do your research and you will be fine. My pug is very fit and healthy, and hasn’t had any health problems since we got her.
