The Formula One governing body the International Automobile Federation (FIA) has been criticized over their decision to allow new teams to enter F1 for the 2010 season.

In a column published on the official Ferrari website, the Italian team has gone on the attack towards the FIA for encouraging the struggling newcomers Campos F1 and US F1 instead of supporting the older teams such as BMW and Toyota, who have both left the sport.

The Ferrari column attributes blame for the current problems to the former FIA president Max Mosley, who rowed with established manufacturers such as Ferrari last season over his plans to bring in new teams. "This is the legacy of the holy war waged by the former FIA president," the column continued. "The cause in question was to allow smaller teams to get into Formula One.

This is the outcome: two teams will limp into the start of the championship, a third (Stefan Grand Prix) is being pushed into the ring by an invisible hand... and, as for the fourth (US F1), where have they gone?

On 24 February 2010 it was reported that Campos and US F1 were in discussions about the possibility of a merger which means Jose Maria Lopez could be transferring to the Campos F1 team.

In the meantime, we have lost two constructors along the way, in the shape of BMW and Toyota, while at Renault, there's not much left other than the name. Was it all worth it?

The 2010 F1 season starts on March 12 with practice and the first race on March 14, Who will be there at the first round? Do we need to wait until May to see a full grid?

747-8 flies

Boeing's giant 747-8 freighter is the biggest plane the Boeing company has ever built, It took off on its first flight today which is a year later than originally planned and one day earlier than the anniversary of the first flight of a 747 41 years ago. The 747-8F took off from Everett's Paine Field at 12:39 PST and Touched down at 4:18 PM.

The 747-8 Freighter reached a speed of 230 knots (264 mph/426 kph) and an altitude of 17,000 feet (5,181 meters) on the first flight. It is about 5.5 meters longer than the existing 747-400 jumbo jet. The company conducted high and low speed taxi tests on the freighter on Saturday, with the aircraft performing well.

At this stage there are 76 firm orders for the freighter and 32 for the 747-8 inter-continental passenger jet which was launched on November 14, 2005, Boeing has firm orders for 10 planes from Cargolux of Luxembourg and eight from Nippon Cargo Airlines of Japan and has a list price of more than $US300 million.

After completing the test program, the first freighter will be refitted and delivered to Cargolux later this year. The first delivery was to have been in late 2009 and the first passenger version in late 2010, but Boeing pushed back the dates due to design changes, limited engineering resources and an eight-week strike that shut down factories.

The 747-8 passenger version will carry up to 467 people in three classes, with a range of just under 7,000 miles and assembly of that plane will begin around mid-2010, with the first delivery in the fourth quarter of 2011.

Air New Zealand announced a few months ago its plan to have lie down beds in economy class on its long haul flights which will be a world first, Its a project that an Air New Zealand team has been working on for the last three years.

Just today they released the design, Its a row of three seats which will provide a flat surface for two adults to sleep on, Later this year Air New Zealand takes delivery of the first of its new Boeing 777-300 aircraft that will be fitted with these new lay down beds (Skycouch).

A Skycouch ticket will be based on buying two seats at the standard price and the third seat at half-price, there will be Twenty-two sets of Skycouch seats and they will be going on sale from late April.

The 340 seat 777-300 aircraft will be configured with 246 in Economy (including 66 seats creating 22 Skycouch combinations), 50 in Premium Economy and 44 in Business Premier.

The first routes to offer travelers the new Skycouch seats will be on selected services between Auckland and Los Angeles from December this year, and then followed by dedicated return services between Auckland and Los Angeles and through to London from April 2011.

Air New Zealand will also be re-fitting its existing fleet of eight Boeing 777-200s fromJune 2011 and its Asian, North American and UK services should have the new skycouch in 2012.

No Boeing 787-3's on order.

What does this mean? Is Boeing abandoning the 787-3 or has it been mothballed just like Airbus mothballed the A380 Freighter variant?

Is it because JAL and ANA which are the only customers to express and interest in the 3 version and have decided that the range capability wasn't enough and have decided to go with the 787-8 or 787-9, Or maybe the Japanese operators just want earlier deliveries of the 787 to be able to compete in the tough Asian market.
This leaves the question, If Japan airlines and All Nippon Airways are taking deliveries earlier, Other customers of the 787 must be prepared to take delivery later. This could then lead to some airlines deferring or canceling there orders.

Boeing could even delay the release of the 787-9, But this could lead to more cancellations or deferrals unless Boeing is prepared to pay compensation, There are several airlines that are seeking compensation, These airlines were relying on the 787 to replace currently leased aircraft whose leases have expired, The last thing these airlines want is further delays.

Deferral could be a good option with the worlds financial situation at present and the amount of people traveling have dropped dramatically over the past year.

Maybe Boeing are reducing the number of series in the 787 range to cut unnecessary capital expenditure and R&D.

Points scoring system for 2010 F1

The 2010 F1 season will see the most radical change in the points scoring system in 60 years. For the first time ever the drivers will be able to score points right down to 10th place, meaning that 38% of the starting grid next season will score at least one point. But what exactly does this mean?

The first thing to establish is how the points as distributed. Under the previous scoring system, the winner received 10pts, second 8 points, third 6 points, fourth place got 5 and so on as far as 8th position. While this rewarded consistency, it had it’s critics right from when it was introduced back in 2003. Many felt that it began to devalue the race win, Whereas previously it was a 4-point gap between 1st and 2nd compared to 2pts, which also meant that drivers had built up a sizable lead at the beginning of the championship, like Fernando Alonso did back in 05 and of course Jensen Button last season, and were able to sustain a championship challenge without needing to challenge for race wins but gain a steady amount of points consistently in the second half of the season. This prompted Bernie Ecclestone to try, but thankfully fail, to implement a ‘medals’ system whereby the driver with the most wins won the title regardless of how many points he had.

But under the current system this could all change. Instead of receiving 10 points for a victory, the winner will now receive 25 points, with 20 points for second, 15 points for third, etc:

787 Finally flies.

On December the15th 2009 Boeing's new lightweight carbon and titanium Dreamliner lifted off the runway for the first time into cloudy skies after more than two years of delays. It was witnessed by several thousand Boeing employees as well as industry VIP's, Enthusiasts and of course reporters from around the world.

The 787 Dreamliner production has been delayed five times in the past three years due to a shortage of bolts, faulty design and a two-month strike at its factory.The most recent delay was the most serious, as Boeing needed to reinforce the side of the plane where the wing meets the fuselage, and the first flight has been postponed six times which has stretched the patience of many of its customers, The advantage it has is that it will save airlines million of dollars in fuel and maintenance costs.

Airlines from around the world have ordered a total of 840 of the aircraft which is worth about $US140 billion, since 2004, when work began on the plane.

The four-hour test flight of the Dreamliner, painted in Boeing house colors, began at Paine Field adjacent to its factory in Everett 30 miles north of Seattle. This is only the start of an extensive flight test program that will take around 9 months to complete and will involve six 787s running around the clock, which Boeing executives have said will be like running a small airline.

Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a long range, mid size, wide body and twin engine jet airliner . It will have three versions, The 787-3 short range version will have a capacity of 330 passengers, 787-8 baseline version will carry 210-250 passengers and the 787-9 stretched version will carry up to 290 passengers. All three versions of 787 family will carry passengers non-stop on routes between 6500 km and 16000 km . Boeing 787 is using two types of engine, The General Electric GENX engine and the Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engine . The length of the plane is 56 m with a wingspan of 59 m and its height is 17.4 m.

The adventure capital of New Zealand (Queenstown) has launched a new hair-raising activity with Ziptrek Ecotours which combines adrenaline and nature. The company has been planning its Queenstown launch on iconic reserve land on Bob’s Peak for over four years and is now set to open later this week.

Like many of the adventures in Queenstown, it involves wearing a hard hat as well as a harness but in this case it is to go on a series of flying foxes which is more than four hundred meters long, The ride goes shooting down a mountain side and the ride can even go upside down. Ziptrek have planted roughly 600 trees to make the project work.

A spokesman from Ziptrek Ecotours' says "It's just about having fun in the outdoors and this is just an extension of a lot of childish ideas about flying foxes and treehouses,"

Ziptrek brought the idea over from Whistler, Canada, where it has been running successfully for seven years.

"We are now the number one activity operator in the Whistler market taking out tens of thousands of people every year and the response we received there was one of the reasons why we looked at Queenstown as a great place to come," says David Udow from Ziptrek, Whistler.

Ticket prices for Rugby World Cup released.

Organizers of the 2011 World Cup have released the ticket prices that they hoped would counter the rising costs of hosting an event this size.

Tickets go on sale in April next year and prices will start at (NZ)$15 for children and (NZ)$30 for adults for most of the pool matches, The final to be held at Eden Park in Auckland to cost between (NZ)$390 to (NZ)$1250.

The International Rugby Board (IRB) retain all commercially generated income as well as taking $150 million as a hosting fee, Therefore New Zealand must rely largely on ticket sales to cover the cost of hosting the tournament and although the ticket revenue has been projected at $280 million, The organizers are expecting to lose $30 million, This is due to so many games being played around the country instead of just a few select stadiums in the main cities.

With these low ticket prices for pool matches, Most of the stadiums will be full, Rugby has a huge following here in New Zealand and is extremely multi-cultural, The atmosphere at all games will be electrifying.

First Boeing 747-8F

On the evening of November the 17th, Boeing moved the first 747-8F from the paint hanger in Everett, Washington.

Boeing says the aircraft is painted with an oversized number 8 on the background of the tail and 747-8 featured on the belly of the aircraft. The first flight of the 747-8F is scheduled for early 2010, with Cargolux being the launch customer and is scheduled to take delivery of the first 747-8F during the fourth quarter of 2010.

The Boeing 747 has been a very popular plane and is the worlds most recognizable aircraft. Boeing claims that design of the 747-8F will be quieter, more economical and more environmentally friendly than all previous versions of the 747 and has the economic benefit of similar training and interchangeable parts.

For the 747-8 family of aircraft, Boeing has given the wing an extensive overhaul that will improve the lift over drag and also the engine, This will incorporate all the newest techology that is going into the 787 project, This will allow the airplane to fly further and in a more efficient manner than preceding 747’s.

The passenger version of the 747-8 is called the Intercontinental (747-8I), It will be capable of carrying up to 450 passengers in 3-class configuration over 8,000 nautical miles (14,816 km) at 0.86 Mach, The Intercontinental is not expected to be on the flightline for quite some time yet unfortunately.

German car giant Mercedes-Benz have taken over Brawn GP. What does this mean for McLarens future for there engine supplier? Well at the moment Mercedes will supply McLaren with engines until at least 2015 and possibly longer and the team will continue with their current livery under the name of Vodafone McLaren Mercedes.

Mercedes parent company Daimler AG will take a 75.1 percent stake of Brawn GP, With Ross Brawn remaining as team principal.

Mercedes have'nt yet announced their drivers for 2010, Rubens Barrichello has already left Brawn for Williams, while speculation continues with the current world champion Jenson Button could be switching to McLaren to partner Lewis Hamilton.

Brawn GP has accomplished a lot in the 2009 season which included a deal with Mercedes to supply engines, winning both the constructors' and drivers' world championships, and now accepting this offer with Daimler which will secure the future of the team for many years ahead.

Brawn GP’s factory in the UK (in Brackley) is less than 30 miles from the Mercedes Formula One engine plant at Brixworth, which should make for an extremely efficient operation for the years ahead.

The FIA have confirmed the new US F1 team have paid their entry fee and will be on the 2010 starting grid after speculation about the team's future in an interview with a US-based Speed TV cable network.
The US team's factory is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, They sent their entry fee in 10 days ago at a figure of close to US$440,000.

Also in Formula 1 news the new Malaysian-backed Lotus Formula One team has signed its first driver but haven't released any name yet. Italian Jarno Trulli, who drove for the now-departed Toyota team this year, has been linked in media speculation to the new Lotus team whose technical head is former Toyota technical director Mike Gascoyne.

Lotus and US F1 are just 2 of five new teams that are due to make their F1 debuts in 2010, with Toyota and BMW calling it quits.

And whats going on at McLaren? Lewis Hamilton is under contract until the end of the 2012 season and Kovalainen has been linked to a move elsewhere, but he can still retain his seat for the2010 season if the team can't conclude a deal with Kimi Raikkonen, Jenson Button or Nick Heidfeld.

No such dramas at Ferrari for 2010 though, With Kimi stepping aside to allow Fernando Alonso a drive, and of course the return of Felipe Massa which should give Ferrari some hope next year.

Qantas has stood down two pilots who failed activate the landing gear on a Boeing 767 on approach Sydney's Kingsford Smith international airport from Melbourne on Monday. The plane was less than 300 meters above the ground when the onboard computer system warned the pilots with the words "too low - gear, too low - gear".
The pilots then regained altitude and circled the airport before landing shortly after, This particular warning is designed to go off when the aircraft is too close to the ground.

The president of the Australian and International Pilots Association said it is "very serious" if the enhanced warning system is activated, and the incident is being investigated, In the meantime, The pilots have been stood down.

During take off and landing, You're dealing with air traffic, slowing the aircraft down, configuration changes and changing radio frequencies, So something as simple as landing gear can get overlooked.

The safety bureau is expected to deliver a preliminary factual report in about a month.

All Blacks beat Australia in Japan.

The New Zealand All Blacks have beaten the Australian Wallabies 32-19 at the Japan Olympic Stadium on Saturday night in front of over 45,000 fans .

Matt Giteau scored for the Australians first, with a long-range penalty early in the first half.

Matt Giteau then added another three point penalty in the 12th minute. A few minutes later All blacks number 10 Dan Carter replied with a successful penalty kick, to get the All Blacks off the mark.

All Black Sitiveni Sivivatu got the first try of the game after 20 minutes, touching down to put the All blacks ahead.

Matt Giteau then got the Australians back to within one point with a penalty 10 minutes out from halftime after

Dan Carter put the All Blacks' lead back out to four points with a penalty just before the half time break.

A few moments later All Black Sivivatu was shown a yellow card in the 33rd minute for tackling Australian second-five Adam Ashley-Cooper which the Australians took advantage of and five minutes from halftime the Australian winger Peter Hinds scored in the corner, and after some confusion with the Japanese video official, The South African referee Mark Lawrence awarded the try and the Australians led 16-13 at halftime.

The second half started with both sides improving there game but it was Conrad Smith who took the All Blacks out to a 20-16 lead with a try in the 46th minute of the game.

The All Blacks number 10 DanCarter kicked penalties in the 62nd, 68th and 73rd minutes to extend the lead the All Blacks lead to 29-19 and Australian Matt Giteau could only answer with a penalty in the 71st minute.

The Australians then began to lose disipline as the penalties started to go against them, Dan Carter then added a further three points to push the score out to 32-19.

Yesterday was my birthday, My lovely wife did something for me that Ive only ever dreamed about doing, She got me flying lessons, Flying has been a passion of mine for many years, I never really gave much thought about flying a plane because of the costs involved, Now i only wish i had done it years earlier. The plane was a Grumman AA-1C trainer and although we had 24-28 knot crosswind gusts it was extremely stable.

So where to from here? I may consider taking this passion further, I definitely intend to find out more about whats involved and if i can afford to do it then why not give it a go.

Last weekend was the annual speedshow exhibition, A great day out for the boys in Auckland. This year had a line-up of cars and motorcycles - new, performance, classic and customs.

This year's event saw Speedshow fill to capacity with three main halls of the showgrounds, and an extensive outdoor display and activities to add to the attractions for the speed lovers. And the new children's area called Speedshow 4 Kids proved very popular with Roary the Racing Car shows at 10am and 12pm each day.

Some of New Zealand’s best drift cars were alongside historic racing cars and bikes and New Zealand’s best race car simulators.There were new cars and motorcycles from some of the world’s leading manufacturers and exhibitors with a wide range of motoring and motorsport-related products and services, but honestly there’s too much to mention so if you like cars and motorbikes, Speedshow was the place to be.

This year's key draw-cards included the world's fastest NASCAR and the original movie Batmobile from the original Batman movies courtesy of Warner Brothers Movie World on the Gold Coast, The motorbike from the movie "The worlds fastest Indian" as well as the world famous Britten motorbike.

The oldest exhibit was a 1903 Ford that cost 180 pounds when brand-new while nearby was a DTM-spec Mercedes Benz AMG supercar, one of only 100 in the world that cost well over $500,000 new.

This event has only been running 3 years in New Zealand and has already moved venue because of space, It doubles in size every year so next years event should be better again.

Well this it, Its goodbye from me on Entrecard. Its honestly just not worth it anymore. The latest decision regarding sponsored ads has made me re-think my time that i spend on Entrecard.

Ive subscribed to many of my favorites from Entrecard and i hope to see as many entrecarders as possible in other social networking sites.

Well well well, Look at what we have now.

Is it just me or is everybody else sick of crap being dealt to us on Entrecard? From paid ads to sponsored ads.

I posted back in April expressing my concern over the paid ads scheme and now they are back again, This time they will be displayed 15% of the time, (Or so they say). And we may not have a choice but to accept them which is one of my biggest concerns.

I hope they listen to the points put across to them from entrecarders and compromise for a change.

It sounds to me like someone bought a lemon, And now realizes it wasn't a good investment.
Oh well, good luck with your idea. I hope you can recover some of the initial outlay for buying Entrecard. I hope it was worth it.

Congrats to Graeme for selling when he did, He must have known the value of the Entrecard credit was worthless.

All Blacks win over Wallabies.

The All Blacks produced a hugely satisfying 33-6 win to wrap up the winter test season over Australia at the Westpac stadium in Wellington, but the question now is where to from here with an end of year tour starting in five weeks time?

The All Blacks only just avoided the bottom of the table for the tri-nations series, but beat the Wallabies with a clean sweep to regain the Bledisloe cup, It was an impressive finish to an ordinary Tri-Nations campaign that proved to the rest of the rugby world that South Africa are the number 1 team in the world after they dominated the super 14 season.

The All Blacks made good from their promise to kick on from their enterprising late rally against the South African Springboks last week and were lucky to be leading 16-6 at half time over the Wallabies, They showed they meant business from the opening whistle and finally produced a strong start to give their game the momentum that has been missing for much of the season.

It was good to see the coaching staff playing people in the positions they dominate at rather than trying them at different positions, I personally thought the coaching staff would have learn't a lesson from whats happened over the past 3 years. The response was a performance full of energy and, importantly, accuracy on both attack and defense.

The focus now will be on the end of year tour which starts on November 14 with five tests which will include games with Italy, France and England. Hopefully our coaching staff will continue with the team that have just dominated Australia which will then put New Zealand back in a position to regain the world number 1 ranking after the tri-nations in 2010.

Well it looks like all these problems on Entrecard are over (for the meantime).

I cant say I'm too happy with all the new points regulations but never mind, Due to this new policy of reducing the amount of Entrecard credits, I too have decided to do my part at reducing them as well, I will still accept all ad requests but you will only be able to buy an ad when i decide to accept the ads, This means it will only cost you 2,4,8 or 16 credits, Once it has reached 16 i will turn off the apply to advertise in my advert settings. I think that is a fairly good deal to those advertising on my site, considering the drops from your ad on my site don't receive any credit from the dropper.

My regular routine of drops will continue as normal, So you will still receive the maximum exposure that you all deserve.

I don't know about the rest of you out there on Entrecard, But i am sick to death of the constant problems that have been occurring since the sale of Entrecard. Its not just the problems that are affecting all of with server problems etc but Ive also had many other problems with it since the sale. And Admin really dont seem to give a S#$%. Im sure most of us that have been with Entrecard for quite some time understand just how frustrating these problems can be.

About 3 weeks ago there was an ad that was supposed to be running on my site but it never changed, I notified the Entrecard admin and the reply i got was "it could be that our servers are in a different time zone. please allow a 24 hours delay if needed". Seriously what do you take us for??? Idiots?, We all know how it works and we all have some idea of when the ads change. So the ad for the previous day got 2 days exposure, Good deal for that blog but not for the site that was supposed to be there. Also just 2 days ago i informed Admin that drops on my site weren't being registered, Guess what.... No reply.
I have now decided that i am going to stop accepting ads until i feel that my advertisers are getting the exposure that they are paying for, I shall continue with my regular routine until my current ads in queue have all run there time and then i shall make my decision as to whether or not to continue with Entrecard.

First day at school

Today is the first day of school for my Son. It's a day that i shall always remember and it makes me feel so proud. His 2 years at kindergarten have really prepared him well for this moment.

He was so excited to be at school and when the bell rang for class to start he ran as fast as he could to get to his room. I really hope this enthusiasm will continue throughout his schooling days.

The last 5 years have just flown by so quickly.

During the last school holidays i had my 12 year old Daughter with me, She has been living with her Mother most of the time since we separated about 8 years ago, During those 8 years my Daughter was living with an aunt for 1 year, Her Grandmother in Australia for 1 year, as well as with me for the year of 2007, Unfortunately she went back to her mother for 2008 and 2009 because her Mother made promises to her that should could not keep or should i say they were just bribes to get her back. Ive put up with years of harassment from her mother which only got worse after i got married and have had to put up with listening to lies that she has told my Daughter about me and my wife, All to try and make me look bad.

My Daughter is nearly 13 now and has finally realised that all the crap that her mother has fed her about me over the years is lies, She will be coming back to live with me at the end of the year, And she will remain with me until she finishes with her education. Does my Daughter hate her mother for all the lies she told about me? You bet she does. Does her mother want to stop her coming to me next year? No because she knows she is a terrible mother and that she cant beat me if it went to court.

So if your one of these women that likes to bad mouth your ex husband/boyfriend in front of the children, You should grow up and think again, It will come back and bite you in the backside in future. I have no pity whatsoever for these mothers that loose their children when its there own wrong doing.

On my way home from work i was following a car with one occupant, He was a middle aged male wearing a suit, I could see him reach for his mobile phone, He pulled over to the side of the road and continued his conversation, (as people should without endangering the lives of other road users).

Approximately 100 meters further up the road a women was on her mobile phone while driving, Did she pull over? NO, What makes it worse is that she holding the phone in one hand and she applying eye make up at the same time. Does this tell you that she was concentrating on the road and thinking about fellow road users? Women are supposidly better at multitasking than Men but this is just pathetic. Is this really multitasking or just plain stupidity? We share the road with these clowns, Our lives are at risk everyday with people who seem to think they are the only ones on the road.

Even making it illegal to talk on mobile phones while driving wont solve the problem because these idiots still need to be caught.
Its all about common sense, Before mobile phones were around, People had to use the telephone at work or at home (Not in between)So do you really need your mobile phone on while driving?

I'm back from my working trip to Melbourne, Australia, I enjoyed my days away but nothing beats time at home. I thought the cost of living here in New Zealand was totally outrageous but the Aussies have it a lot worse, I could not believe the price of necessities in Australia. Now i know why ex-pat New Zealanders are coming home.

Melbourne is a fantastic city, Maybe next time i go it will be for a holiday.
