Two events Chicago-area photographers may dig coming this weekend

This weekend, The Chicago Tribune hosts the Printers Row Book Fair, the Midwest's largest annual gathering of authors, booksellers and readers in the South Loop's historic Printers Row neighborhood.

Two events will be of particular interest to young photojournalists (besides good finds on used photo books):

Sam Freedman, Letters to a Young Journalist
Sunday, June 4 @ 12:30p.m.
River Room (Individual Appearance)
University Center (525 S. State St.)

An inspiring look @ the art and craft of modern journalism, from one of

A friend of mine is heading to Chile in August and is looking for some
help.

[i]My name is Christine Mladic, and I am a photographer from Chicago who
will be going to Santiago, Chile in August through an organization
called Voluntarios de la Esperanza.

I will be living at an orphanage, and will be directing a class to
encourage the children to express themselves creatively through
photography.

For this reason, I would like to collect 40 point-and-shoot digital
cameras, either new or used. If possible, any digital cards that are
