If one of the main problems with Pakistan today is controlling the militants in the tribal belt, then how can the Pakistani government solve this problem? Does the solving of this problem require a significant change to Pakistani policy towards paramilitaries? And if so what does this entail for the Pakistani military? Would this require the military to be expanded, so that there would be more soldiers to fight the Taliban in the Tribal belt? Or would it require a change in strategy when fighting the Taliban, instead focusing on a hearts and minds that would aim to win the people of the Tribal Belt away from the Taliban?

I being a Pakistani am ashmed of what happened in the then East Pakistan now Bangla Desh. The division of the sub continenant in 1947 nearly 2 to 3 million people were slaughtered than in the years of 1970’s again 2 to 3 million people were again slaughtered. for what ” for a new country ” are the poors of all the three country’s happy – No – even today No Food, No Shelter, No Self Respect, No decent Clothing – for the poors – but still the poors love their country maybe they have nothing else to love.

A question regarding the coordination of operations.

Question: Insurgencies tend to react to counter insurgency (COIN) initiatives by attempting to learn their weaknesses and eventually exploiting them. So it can be argued that new strategies to use against insurgents need to be continually thought of and potentially implemented, not just when a working strategy begins to show signs of the insurgents countering it effectively. And if a war by committee approach is used in COIN where the military, local officials and police, and government administrators all have a say in how COIN operations are conducted. Will COIN operations be hampered because of the delay that will most likely occur in the decision making process to implement new strategies against the insurgency? Basically is it worth having a war by committee approach to COIN if it allows the insurgents extra time to adapt and counter COIN initiatives?
