I came across this old photo a few weeks ago, circa 1977. You can tell it's the 70's, I'm wearing a rainbow shirt, carrying a leather purse that had flowers painted on (remember those?) and was growing out my Farrah Fawcett hairstyle.

It's not the best picture, but still a memory of a vacation I want to remember.

I used my Silhoutte for the islands and aloha, along with the May kit from the Paper Bakery. I also added some sequins, my new fave thing to use to a layout ;)

I have a new layout up on the Pretty Little Studio blog today!

Although I’m pretty sure this wasn’t an owls nest that we found on vacation, the cute owl flash card from the new Nature Walk collection was the perfect embellishment for my layout!

I added a bit of twine as a reminder of the little pieces of string the sweet birds had woven into the nest and a few flair buttons too!

{While in New York...}

It's been almost 10 years since my last trip to New York. Somehow I never made a layout with pics of one of my favorite little places to shop.

The Ink Pad is one of those stores I could spend hours looking in. It's a paper crafter's paradise.

I used the May kit from the Paper Bakery which includes the cute DIY Shop ephemera pack from Crate Paper. Could the map and corner store piece be any more perfect! I also used one of the photo overlays as an embellishment. I think they look cool layered in among everything, not just as a photo overlay.

{Glitz Roadshow & a Sketch}

Here's a new layout I made with the "Glitz Roadshow" kit from the Paper Bakery along with the newest sketch challenge. Don't you just *love* the sweet Maggie Holmes camera paper :)

And here's the sketch I used for my inspiration.

I used the Crate Paper photo overlays to represent the squares behind the photo, then added bits and pieces here and there for some layering.

There is still plenty of time to enter the sketch challenge, I'd love to see what you come up with!

Here's a layout I made for the Pretty Little Studio blog for this weeks "Out of the Box" challenge. This is the image I was given for inspiration:

Right away I noticed how the letters are in alphabetical order, but yet still have a randomly placed look to them. Here's what I came up with for my version:

I copied the look by using my Silhouette machine to cut out each letter, then backed the negative cut with the chevron paper.

I also added a heart to the alphabet, and backed it with coordinating cardstock. A simple frame of two more pieces of cardstock completed the layout. There's a story that goes with the layout, but since I write like a 3rd grade school girl with big loopy letters ;) it would never fit, so I've written it on the back.

I have 2 cards made with the May scrapbook kit from the Paper Bakery to share with you today. First up, I found this idea on Pinterest and thought it was sooo cute!

"you can always count on me to be right here"

I used the number line cut file from the May kit and did a little creative erasing with my Silhouette, changing it into two lines of numbers and replacing the zero with the geotag flair.

And then a card for everyday. Don't you just love the mustache flair!

And now the fun part! The winner of my National Scrapbook Day drawing is...

Here's my take on the sketch using the May kit, Glitz Roadshow.

As you can see, I used 1 photo instead of 3 with 2 clusters of embellishments, and 1 horizontal stripe instead of 3 vertical stripes. I also used part of the number cut file from the May kit.

{1948 Along the Tule River}

{Inspiration!}

Where do you get your inspiration from? Sometimes I find it in something as simple as a scrapbooking magazine. Then there are other times when it is least expected. Here’s the source of my latest inspiration…

Yes it’s a Marshall’s commercial! The color is a bit off since this is a photo I took of my TV, but my source of inspiration still shows. See the girl on the right with the mint green shirt, white sweater, floral pants with a blue background behind her?? I took that and turned it into this piece of home decor for my friends scrapbook room.

I used my Silhouette to cut the words and camera then added the different pattern papers behind the cut out words.

But what if you still want the die cut look and don’t have a Silhouette?? Simply print your image or words in a light color directly onto you paper, then use a craft knife to cut them out

{2 Projects to Share!}

Hi friends, today I have 2 projects to share with you!! First up, a layout for Lily Bee Design. I've been Guest Designing for Lily Bee this month, and have such a great time playing with their fab papers!

With my photo as a starting point, I cut the various oval shapes out of the brown paper to resemble the stone path in the picture, then used the blue chevron stripe paper layered behind it to mimic the water.

I added a few layers behind the photo and the strip of red floral paper to bring out the red in my daughters pants and just to look cute ;) Since this is about feeding the ducks, I also added the red feather that I found at my local craft store. A quick and easy layout, but a great memory recorded!

I also have this fun project for Pretty Little Studio!

This is for the "Out of the Box" Word Challenge and this was our inspiration piece...

I focused on the lettering style, and came up with this cute little piece of home decor for a friend that just had her first baby. Don't you just love that sweet little deer!!

I love old black & white photos, and especially love old family photos. I am slowly but surely working through a box of over 500 pictures from my husbands side of the family, dating from the early 1900's. Someday, I hope to have them all scrapbooked. For this layout I used the "Lemonade Stand" kit from the Paper Bakery along with a photo of my dad-in-law as a young boy.

Here's a layout I made a few weeks ago but forgot to share it here.

It's another layout of Gracie at the park ;) This girl loves going to the park more than any of the other 3 kids did combined! She has the swings mastered, but still wants Mommy to push her "so her toes reach the sky". Fortunately we have 10 parks just in our little city, so we have plenty to visit.

Don't you love the bright blue feather!

Well it's another layout for Gracie's album completed, and even though this isn't the first layout about her at the park, and surely won't be the last, it's another memory recorded.

{Bicycle Cowboy}

Here's a new layout for Pretty Little Studio, using just one everyday photo, that doesn't go with anything else. Of course I still want to scrapbook those kind of pictures, especially when it's an old family photo.

I cut the background with my Silhouette, then added the star, a bingo card that I crinkled the edges to make it look a bit worn, and the bicycle riding cowboy. I also added the cute bicycle flair button. Perfect embellishments for the old b & w pic of my father-in-law at play in 1950.

Hi friends! I have 2 things to share that are up on the Paper Bakery blog today. First up this fun card.

Don't you just love the "P" flair button! It's from the I Love Social Media set, and may or may not look like a Pinterest P ;) I thought it looked so cute to replace part of one of the Dear Lizzy diecut words with a flair button.

I also made this tag set. This could be added to a gift or as an embellishment on a scrapbook layout.

I used another one of the Dear Lizzy diecuts, and also snuck in a little piece of one of the exclusive Paper Bakery printables. Love that little camera!

I'm Guest Designing this month for Lily Bee Designs...woo-hoo!
Here's two layouts that are up on the Lily Bee blog today, using their fab papers. First up, a layout for their theme this week, "outside your window, with vacation pics taken out of a helicopter window.

Don't you just love the wood grain paper with the heart bokeh!

I cut the view master disk with my Silhouette ;)

Next, I used a variety of colors on this layout about Gracie.

We have a little saying between us that I'm so lucky to be her mommy, and that she is like the gold at the end of a rainbow. Of course I had to use gold letters, and added some sequins too!

I have 2 new layouts to share today, and 2 more for tomorrow! I was recently contacted by my friend Elizabeth to see what fun things I could come up with using the new Chantilly Paper collection from Close to My Heart. (Elizabeth is a great consultant if you're looking for one!)

Here's the first one, using just the beautiful papers and my Silhouette.

I stayed with the blues, greens & yellows from the collection for this layout too, and added a few sequins :)

I used old black & whites for both layouts, (you all know how much I love the old b &w's!) the papers go so well with them.

{Lily Bee Cards}

Here is one of three fun cards I have up on the Lily Bee blog today!

Lily Bee is focusing on "negative space" this week so I did a little cutting with my Silhouette machine to do a negative cut on the speech bubble.

Next I hand stitched the sweet little heart on to the kraft cardstock, then layered some of my fave Lily Bee papers and did a little machine stitching.

{Goldie's Butterflies}

A few months ago a I went for my daily walk. I pretty much have the same path, see the same houses and gardens etc. There is one house that always stands out with it's beautiful flowers. I had never seen anyone outside, but had always wondered who lived there and took such beautiful care of the yard. That was the day I met Goldie.
After chatting with Goldie for probably half an hour, she invited me into her backyard to see her butterfly garden. Needless to say I was amazed at the gorgeous flowers and the dozens and dozens of butterflies that made her garden their home. Since then I've spent many afternoons with Goldie, rocking in a garden swing as she points out the different types of butterflies, many that I swear I've never seen in our neighborhood before. I've been treated to her homemade scones and stories of her childhood growing up in England during wartime.
I've told her about my love of scrapbooking and have even taken some of my favorite albums over to share with her. I wanted to make a little something for Goldie and the first thing that came to mind was butterflies :)

I cut my background cardstock to fit inside the shadowbox, and added "Welcome" that was cut with my Silhouette. After fussy cutting the cute butterfly paper from Pretty Little Studio, I folded them in half before glueing each one to the cardstock to give it a bit of dimension.

When I gave this to Goldie she cried.

I've been so blessed by my new friend.

{Excited...um Yes!}

I've got some exciting news...
I'm the Guest Designer over at Lily Bee this month! Can I get a woo-hoo!
I *love* Lily Bee, so I am over the moon happy to say the least. Here's one of my first projects to share, made with their 3 newest collections.

I used my Silhouette to die-cut the "landmark" paper, then backed it with the oh-so-cute "marshmellow" paper.

I fussy cut the fun little polaroid frames, added a bit of machine stitching and a few sequins too!

And since it's inspiration week over on the Lily Bee blog, here's where I got the inspiration for my layout from.

These words were originally spoken from Christopher Robin to Winnie the Pooh. Perfect to use on a layout for my daughter ;)
