Preparing for a wedding is perhaps one of the most stressful stage that most couple should go through before they could get to walk on the red carpet for their most awaited union. With all the many details that has to be considered (wedding venue, reception venue, number of guests, invitations, souvenirs, financial matters and many others...), many grooms especially the brides tend to lose some weight before their wedding date.

Ariel Cueto and Aime Gregorio were supposed to seal their 7-year relationship this month. Everything has been set from the couple’s wedding clothes to souvenirs, invitations, and food for the reception.

But the anticipated happy union between the two didn’t happen because Gregorio died on Tuesday, the eve of their wedding day. The news said.

Nobody likes to have a failed wedding party. That's the reason why some couples would rather personally plan and prepare for their wedding rather than hiring some planners to do the job. Some couples try to tighten their finances and hiring someone to do the plans and the preparation is not a part of the budget. For this week's Wednesday Whites I am glad to feature two of my good friends here in Phitsanulok, Thailand - JOY and PATRICK who will soon be joined together in the Holy Matrimony in Palawan, Philippines this coming October. Then why are they in wedding attire? This beautiful photograph was captured during their pre-nuptial pictorials held in Khao Kho, a province nearby.

Both look gorgeous in white with a vintage looking backdrop. And this is just one of the many pictures which I hope I can feature here in the coming days.

Introduction:

God is love and in some mysterious ways drawn two people together in love. Today, love has triumph and has manifested in the lives of (Groom's Name) and (Bride's Name). Today, we have witnessed the promise sanctified and blessed by the mighty source of love – Jesus Christ.

I welcome all of you to this banquet. This is a festivity of union. Two separate individuals have found each other, tie the knot to become one – we therefore have to celebrate. Good morning. I'm ( Lorenzo M. Caballes, Jr.) , I'm your host.

Grace Before Meals:

As we partake the bounties (Groom's Name) and (Bride's Name) have prepared for us, let us invoke the presence of the Lord and thank HIM once more for His constant provision. (Prayer Leader) will say the grace before meals.

The bond of marriage is a symbol itself. God created marriage as a symbol of His infinite love to his people, that we may also share it with our family and to others.

In the same manner, a matrimonial ceremony would not be complete if without the observance of several wedding traditions. As we formally send off (Groom's Name) and (Bride's Name) to their voyage bound to the next chapter of their lives as husband and wife, there's no other way of wishing them well but to pray for a smooth travel. Let our prayers be heard as we perform several matrimonial traditions in a unique Filipino way.

Slicing of Cake:

The cake is a symbol of a happy married life that the couple would enjoy from this day forward. Let us pray that (Groom's Name) and (Bride's Name) will continue to share the sweetness of love, that they will continue to live together with their hearts pure of joy in serving the Lord as husband and wife and as a family.

Sharing of Wine:

The wine that the couple is about to share is a representation of life's adversities. Life indeed is not a bed of roses, as (Groom's Name) and (Bride's Name) drink the wine, they affirm their pledge of loyalty and fidelity even in the most trying times of their married life. Let us pray that during these moments, they will cling to no one but to the Lord, the very foundation of their love.

The Wedding Host

The wedding host or Emcee whose biggest part falls during the reception time can simply make or break the whole ceremony. He/She plays a big role in the success of the drafted wedding program thus your wedding host must not only be gifted with communication skills but he/she must be adept in hosting matrimonial events.

What are some of the responsibilities of a Wedding Host?

He/She has to come to the reception venue to check whether everything such as sound system, microphones, music, etc are all set for the arrival of the guests and the whole wedding entourage.
He/She must welcome the guests and acknowledge them as they arrive.
The wedding host must make the necessary adjustments of the drafted program when the parts need to be adjusted.
The host should be quick to fill in the gaps so as to avoid "dead air" in the program.
He/She must encourage the guests especially the ladies and the gentlemen to participate in the tossing of the bouquet and the garter respectively.
The host must be alive, alert and enthusiastic to make the audience imbibe the same energy resulting to a successful event.

It was a beautiful Saturday morning of July 9, 2011 when I first attended a Christian Thai Wedding ceremony. It was Ajarn Oi and Jack's biggest day and I was lucky to be there to take part in such a happy occasion.

When the music started to play, the candle lighters made their entrance to alight the aisle and the altar candles. Then, the Pastors, Jack side by side with his Best Man marched inside the church while ushered by two little girls in white. When the bride made her entrance, the whole congregation turned their heads toward her direction to take a gaze at her smiles and welcome her as she walked down the red carpet with numbered steps. Ajarn Oi was accompanied by her father, her Maid of Honor, the ring bearer, Bible bearer and two little flower girls who sprinkled rose petals on her way.

Sealed.

The ceremony continued with the couple's exchange of vows, the exchange of rings, communion then the Pastor's message. The matrimonial rites was ended with the couple's "WAI" to their parents. At this point, the teary-eyed Jack and Ajarn Oi had to kneel before their equally emotional parents to ask for their final blessings. It was a touching moment.

The reception was held at the same venue. After the pictorial session, the church suddenly turned into a hotel-like banquet hall. Moments later, the feast began and the newly weds were treated with melodious song numbers from their Thai and Filipino friends.

The newly weds were such a lovely couple. Jack was awe-inspiring in his silvery suit paired with white leather shoes while Ajarn Oi was an elegant and sophisticated bride donned in a vintage body-fitting white dress.

Red Wedding

Red as a wedding theme will never be out of date. It will always be one of most bride's favorites because of its vibrancy aside from the fact that this expresses more than anythings else but love.

Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid Wedding that took place on December 22,2010, will always be one of my favorite celebrity wedding not just because they are both my favorite singers but because of how the whole ceremony went on. It was romantic, solemn and was full of crying moments. I guess the most touching part of it was when Ogie and Regine exchanged their vows which they personally made. Ogie was all but a poet in his beautifully crafted message for Regine who in turn sang a part of a beautiful song to express what she felt on that day.

What set that wedding apart from all the celebrity weddings was that Regine was in her red Monique Lhuillier gown, which costs half a million pesos paired with black biker boots underneath and not in a traditional white wedding dress.

Prince William - Kate Middleton: Royal Wedding Unfolds

Prince William and Kate Middleton have been pronounced man and wife at Westminster Abbey.

Prince William and his new wife exchange vows.

Miss Middleton is wearing an ivory and lace gown designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen.

Some 1,900 guests watched the couple exchange their vows, with many millions watching at home. The service is expected to finish at 1215 BST.

Thousands of people are lining the procession route the couple will take to Buckingham Palace after the service.

Despite the risk of showers, the pair will travel in an open-topped 1902 State Landau carriage for the procession, which was used by Prince William parents for their wedding in 1981.

The day has started off dry and cloudy in London but the Met Office says there is a risk of heavy showers developing later on. Temperatures in the capital are expected to reach a high of 19C (66F) in the afternoon.

The prince is wearing the red tunic of an Irish Guards colonel - his most senior honorary appointment - but the bride's dress design is being kept secret.

Prince William has been given the title of the Duke of Cambridge by the Queen, and Miss Middleton will become Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge on their marriage.

The prince has also became the Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus, which means Miss Middleton will become the Countess of Strathearn and Baroness Carrickfergus.

You and Me to the 9th

There are love stories that are meant to end even before it begins and there are love stories that are meant to last even before it has been told.

Their love account is a no ordinary one. Think of "you and me against the world" or "against all odds". They went through a needle's hole before they could get to the altar to exchange their vows. The early days and months and years of their marriage was like having no blessing at all from her family. He was still an outsider. They had to live on their own despite the unfavorable courses of time.

In all those trying times --- Detdet had Buboy and Buboy had Detdet to hold on to with LOVE as their binding power. Then came God's blessing for them, BJe and CJe who had been great contributing factors why the wounds were eventually healed completely. When Mr. Time had totally mended the bridge connecting the estranged "parents - daughter and son-in-law relationship", married life for Detdet and Buboy has become even more fulfilling.

Yesterday, April 18, 2011 was the day Buboy and Detdet marked their 9th year as man and wife. Nine years of togetherness, nine years of blissful marriage. Nine years and counting for more.

More sweet years to come Mr. and Mrs. Junecar and Marydhet Naranjo!

Young Love. Sweet Love. Mr. and Mrs. Jason Aguilera

It's not always everyday when you get some sort of surprises. Yesterday, I got my share of a pleasant surprise when I browsed a Facebook album tagged by one of my dearest parents in ECSCI way back my Enfant Cheri years. It was a wedding album. It was a beach wedding.Wow...how cool...and I am seeing familiar faces - Hideyo, EI, IJ, Kristine, Andre and Jason in white. Wait, this must be a debut party with Jason as the honored debutante escort. But wait again, this cake fits not for a birthday but for a wedding. Eventually, it dawned on me, it was a wedding album after all.

The Groom: Rey Jason U. Aguilera

The Bride: Quera (His long time GF from high school whom he failed to introduce to me. :)

What got me into disbelief was the early ringing of wedding bells itself but I never had second thoughts about whom Jason would end up spending the rest of his life with. This goes to show that young love is a love that lasts, a love that blossomed early and has come to early maturity for reaping. This for me is Jason and Quera's love story.

Class Picture. Years ago, there was a photo such as this. There were 10 of them plus me. If all were here. There should have been 11 plus one.

I wonder who among rest of the nine pioneers would follow suit. Hmmnn...I hope not too soon...and I hope that if it happens, I would receive a wedding invitation perhaps asking me to be one of the principal sponsors...(wee...kidding).

Man of Honor, Best Woman, Bride's Men and Groom's Maids...

Yes! You are actually reading them right. Why? Maybe the correct question is: WHY NOT?

I have told Ate Grace that I would never attend her wedding day lest I would stand as her personal assistant. Not as a wedding planner or his coordinator, or his wedding host but as her Man of Honor (I coined my own word as I thought but yes, this is actually a correct term.) . She was like very skeptical about the idea and in fact she has not confirmed her acceptance for this proposal until now because it seems to her that the idea is somewhat absurd. (Shhh...she is a bit of conformist, you know...). But, I guess, after reading this, she would finally give in to my demands of giving me this very first MAN OF HONOR experience.

Wedding Participants

Wedding ceremony participants, also referred to as the wedding party are the people that participate directly in the wedding ceremony itself. Depending on the location, religion, and style of the wedding, this group may include only the individual people that are marrying, or it may include one or more brides, grooms (or bridegrooms), persons of honor, brides persons, best persons, groomsmen, flower girls, pages and ring bearers.

A woman’s bridal party consists of only those on her side of the wedding party. Those on a groom’s side are called his groom’s party.

Marriage officiant: the person who officiates at the wedding, validating the wedding from a legal and/or religious standpoint. This person may be a judge, justice of the peace, or a member of clergy.
Bride: A woman about to be married, or newly wed.
Bridegroom or Groom: A man who is about to be married, or who has just been married.

Attendants: Men of Honor and Best Maids

That's just how newlywed Lisa Threshie and her close friend Mike felt. "Mike always told me I would find Mr. Right, and when I did, I wanted Mike up there at my side too," Lisa says. "The wedding just wouldn't have felt right without him in it." How'd her fiance feel about that? "Being a traditionalist, I'd always thought my wedding would be a certain way -- and it didn't include a male bridesmaid," says David Threshie. "Would it look weird? Where would he stand? What would he wear?"

The most important thing to remember is whomever you choose, make sure your attendants feel comfortable in their roles.

The Logistics

It was very simple. Mike was last in the bridal procession and at the altar because he was the tallest. He wore the same tuxedo as the groomsmen, and he didn't carry a bouquet (his choice!). And to avoid any confusion, David and Lisa told the photographer ahead of time which attendants were whose -- a good idea. That way, Mike was in the attendants-of-the-bride photos and on her side in entire-group pictures, not shoved in among the groomsmen.

The Maid of Honor

The maid of honor (or matron of honor if she is married) has many responsibilities -- all of them fun, and all of them an honor (hence the title). She traditionally hosts the bridal shower (although, if she is unable to do so, another bridesmaid or friend of the family may host), and may also organize the bachelorette party if there is one (this is strictly an optional event).

On the day of the wedding, the maid of honor will help the bride dress, and basically assist in any way necessary. One of the most important things the maid of honor does is to stand beside the bride during the ceremony, and to hold her bouquet when necessary. She is also the "keeper" of the bride's train throughout the day, from adjusting it when the bride arrives at the altar, to assisting with the bustle before the reception. The maid of honor may be asked to give a toast at the reception, which will take place after the best man has given his. In some instances, the bride may choose to have two maids or matrons of honor, in which case the two honor attendants divide the responsibilities.

Bridesmaids stand up for the bride during the ceremony and attend the prewedding events. They also participate in the receiving line and assist the bride as requested at the reception.

Well, contrary to what we used to think that the secondary sponsors are only decorations in a wedding, the best man, maid of honor, brides maids and the grooms men do have their own significant roles in a matrimonial ceremony.

So it means, to be invited to stand as a secondary sponsor is not just a privilege but also a responsibility.

THE BEST MAN

Selection

Traditionally, the best man is a brother, relative or best friend of the groom. Choose someone who is dependable and can help with organizing things as well as offering moral support. It doesn't matter if the best man is single or married.

Advance Help
*The best man hosts and coordinates the bachelor party for the groom.
*The groom delegates fitting sessions for ushers and groomsmen to best man so that he is the only has to be concerned about his own fitting session.
*The best man attends pre-wedding parties.
*He attends the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
* He picks up the groom's formal wear prior to the wedding.
*The best man handles the toasts at eh rehearsal dinner.
*He assist the groom by confirming travel and honey for the couple on the day of the wedding.

Wedding Colors

Roses and Colors

Now, you have set the date of your wedding and on you go for the next detail - wedding theme and wedding color. There is a slight difference between the two although usually they go together. If we say wedding theme, we talk about the whole concept and that will include the color, let us say for example: the theme is beach wedding and your color is blue or white.

However, many couples do not anymore consider having wedding themes but go directly on choosing wedding color making it as the whole concept and guide as to how their guests should come in the party considering the tight budget for the whole wedding event. Of course, adding more details to it would mean additional expenses.

Here, I am compiling some popular Wedding Colors of my friends. This may also guide you on picking your own color for your own wedding.

1. Blue - Blue is always one of the top favorites. Cool and so comfy.

Beth. Happy bride in blue.


Beth and Roy. Mr. and Mrs. Robles with their maids and men.

2. Green - Catchy and pretty that is green or this green family. I don't have the exact term for this color. I don't know if bright green will do.

Cathy: Catchy and lovely in green.

Girls. The bride with her little flower girls.

3. Red and Gold - These two colors look good together. Simply vibrant and elegant.

RK and BENJUNE. Red in gold donned by lovely friends.

RK and BRO. Gold in red by the maids.

4. Brown and Green. Just see how the combination of both colors work. This time it's the pale green (I'm actually just making my own terms...hehehe).

PRIME and EDMUND. With friends in brown dresses accented with green.


Happiness. This time, the maids are in green with brown accent.

5. Brown and Gold. This combination is about elegance and sophistication.

JOEY and KZ. The barongs of the men are just so lovely.

A London Bridge Love Story

From the majestic Tower Hill Bridge of London, United Kingdom to the historical San Agustin Church of Intramuros, Manila is quite a long ride for Bruz and Rose's love tale.

They met at the famous London Bridge where a spark of familiarity occurred to him although it was actually their first meeting. The friendship began and was nurtured with constant communication until a special bond blossomed between them through that one fine day in Dover Whitecliffs where Bruz gained Rose's precious "yes". It was September 18, 2002.

The next significant chapter of this love story took place at Christ Church in Dublin, Ireland where Bruz marriage proposal was finally granted after he failed twice in a row. That was on July 2003.

Then came the very day where Bruz finally plucked her Rose to take her to his own empty pot with the blessings of both their beloved families and friends. It happened in a serene afternoon on December 15, 2004 at San Agustin Church, Intramuros, Manila, Philippines.

But for Bruz, that long ride was worth taking knowing it will end up in the fulfillment of his dream trip which was bound to another chapter of his life having Rose beside him all through the way.

Bruz and Rose. They traveled long for this wonderful moment.

Today: Bruz and Rose are still so much in loved with each other and are blessed with three beautiful kids - Hannah, Geoff and Raphael. And Oh! yes, they are still in London where they pay occasional visits to the bridge where their love story started.

Royal Wedding Countdown

Today, January 19, marks the beginning of the 100 Days Countdown of the Royal Wedding of Prince William of Wales and Kate Middleton. One hundred days from now, another fairytale will unfold before every spectators eyes around the globe.

Here are some little bits of information about the anticipated Royal Nuptials.

The Grand Royal Wedding will take place on April 29.
The matrimonial ceremony will take place in Westminster Abbey.
The Archbishop of Canterbury will officiate the Royal Wedding.
Kate Middleton will go to church by car.
After the marriage, the couple will ride in a carriage going to the reception.
April 29 will be declared Public Holiday in United Kingdom.

So, you have finally decided to "tie the knot", to "settle down" for good, to pledge your fidelity and loyalty to your other behalf? What's the next step then?

Let's face it, whether you go for a grand and luxurious wedding ceremony or prefer the quite and the simple one, you still need to prepare several significant things before you get to your "I do" moment.

I got this article from a website and I just thought that it is very helpful especially that I have friends who are actually on the planning stage of their own weddings and I mean THEIR because there are few of them actually. Some of these may not be applicable to a simple self-planned wedding but somehow this for sure will give a comprehensive idea as to how plans should go.

6-12 MONTHS BEFORE THE WEDDING

- Reserve the date with your florist, photographer, videographer and disk jockey

- Set the date and time of the wedding

- Reserve the location

- For church and synagogue weddings, visit appropriate clergy members.

- Establish the wedding budget

- Choose attendants, honor attendants and ushers

- Order your wedding invitations and announcements

- Pick out the Bride's gown and headpiece

- Shop for attendant's attire and accessories

- Establish a color scheme

- Order your wedding rings

- Register for china, silver and crystal patterns and other home gifts

2-4 MONTHS BEFORE THE WEDDING

I've been busy lately so I could not find any time to feature another love story or wedding story on this blog but I am going to share in here the movies I have recently watched which story revolve around weddings or something related to it. I have written about them in my other blog sites so I am just going to share the links so you can check them in there.

1. Here Comes the Bride is quite a hilarious movie about how the lives of 5 different people became entangled on the day of one character's wedding day.

Love and Treasure: A pledge of love and prosperity till death do us part.

The Wedding Singer, holding back himself from tears, closed his eyes when he started singing the theme song of the couple...

"Matud mo ako imong unungan,

(You said you will stay with me forever)

(Happiness is all that I feel)

Love @ 50. Tremendous years of war and peace, of prosperity and crisis, of sweetness and bitterness.

The Groom, who has just recovered from a mild stroke walked deliberately alongside with his Bride, who was teary-eyed heading to the altar of St. Isidore Chapel (Dacutan, Esperanza, Agusan del Sur) in the midst of quite and tearful guests on that drizzly afternoon of May 26, 2008, the 28th birthday of their youngest son which celebration was set aside to highlight their 50th Wedding Anniversary and to throw thanksgiving party for the fast recovery of the Groom from his recent health drawback.

"Way sukod ang akong pagtoo,
(I earnestly believe,)
Nga matuman ang akong mga damgo,
(That my dreams will come to reality,)
Kay ania ka man nining kiliran
(Because you are here by my side)
Bulawanong pagpangga naangkon ko na,
(Sublime affection is right at my grasp.)

Edgar & Julieta. Lighting the ceremonial candle is the sixth son and his wife.

At the front rows were the three elder sons with their wives, the eldest daughter (the only present among the three - one is deceased the other is working overseas) with her husband, and the son -in-law serving as their Grooms Men and Brides Maids all donned in formal dresses and "barongs" for the first time of their lives apart from their own matrimonial ceremonies. Ten of the 17 grandchildren were present. The lads and the lasses stood as Ushers and Usherettes while the two little boys aided as Ring and Coin Bearers and the three little cuties functioned as Flower Girls. Many a times emotional were the groom's sister and the bride's brother and a cousin witnessing as Principal Sponsors of that once-in-a-life-time occasion.

"Dili mabalhin, pitik ning kasing-kasing,
(The beat of this heart will never change,)

Kung talikdan mo ako magpabilin
(If you turn your back on me, I'll remain,)

Isaad ko nga walay makababag sa atong pagminahalay,
(I promise that nothing can ever break us apart,)

Duty. As I hand over these arrhae to you, I pledge my commitment as a better provider to you

The most heart-rending part of the ceremony was the exchange of vows where the Best Man has to assist the still frail Groom whose speech was momentarily disrupted due to his gentle sobs. The Bride, on the other hand, was equally sentimental as she pledged her loyalty and love for him during the remaining days of their lives together. As the attendees of the ceremony were wiping their eyes the ceremony went on with the hand-over of the golden arrhae (Las Arras), the donning of the veil and the tying of the matrimonial cord.

While the heavens continuously sprinkled drizzles to dampen the parched soil in that beautiful summer of May, in front of God and in the middle of their family and loved ones, Mr. Lorenzo, Sr. and Mrs. Victoria Molo - Caballes sealed their pledge of friendship, of togetherness, of love and devotion at 50 with a KISS.

Love at 50. Sealed with kiss.

Kate's Story...

Kate, 25, a mother of 1, married 2 times and is currently on the go for her 3rd wedding plans in time of their 10th year Church Wedding anniversary, less than 8 years from now...

At a young age she was smitten by Cupid's arrow and was taken to her first wedding, May 9, 2007 in a civil rights at the Regional Trial Court of Butuan City. Hereafter, she was a dutiful wife, an on-line career woman, and a mom after she gave birth to her 1st born son on the 7th day of the 7th month, year 2007. So goes the name Seven.

After 1 year and 7 months since their 1st signing of contract with Seven serving as the Ring Bearer, Kate and Julius took their parents by surprise (as in real surprise) when they just handed to them their wedding invitations fulfilling Kate's promise to her father, "Don't worry, I will invite you to my church wedding." Worry free indeed! They made sure their parents would not have to undergo pressure and stress about the finances, the couple had it ironed before the big day.

And yes, she is on the onset of organizing the 3rd grand wedding of her life, more or less, 8 years from now. Here's a peak of her list:

1. Limited GUEST LIST only for real VIP's in our lives.

2. I wish KUYA LORENZ (one of the most VIP's...hehehe) will be there to host since he was not able to be there on the 1st and the 2nd.

3. Hoping FATHER LONG GALIDO will be able to make it as the officiating priest this time.

4. I hope to regain my figure just as my first and 2nd wedding so I will be able to wear this beautiful gown.

After 3 years of blissful marriage, this is what Kate has to say "I am grateful to find a husband packed all in one. He washes clothes, feeds the baby, cooks for our meal and more, he makes me feel like i shouldn't be asking for more...and we still go on dating once in a while..."

Manet says I do

Manet and I used to be sharing funny exchanges about our zero love life back at our hometown days. Surely those moments will always end us up both in "tears" not because of desperation (oh please...) but because of too much laughter (bruhahahahaha...bruhihihihihi...).

The next turn of events brought us far from that humble place of ours. While I got my job at a place just an hour or two from Esperanza, Manet traveled far to the huge metropolis of Manila where she would eventually meet her prince charming, her knight in shining armor, her Romeo, her better half, her love, her forever, her Regan.

A year ago she asked for some tips and suggestions for her big day. I thought it was too long for a preparation, too long to wait. I guess I was more excited seeing her walk in the aisle with her long white silky dress, her veil flowing as she trudge on to the altar.

Time flies swiftly and that momentous day came - January 8, 2011, Manet and Regan were tied together as one.

Congratulations Regan and Best Wishes Manet. All the best. Cheers to both of you!
