Bought the Facelook IPL full arm deal on Juztoday.com but cancelled it 2 days later

Making appointment was easy.

But I didnt like that they didnt state on the voucher or on the deal page that the number of shots is limited.

The voucher was only good for 20 shots. I was asked to top up another $100++ for an additional 20 shots.

The beautician even admitted that the machine that they use has a small surface area.

I felt it was better to cancel my voucher and find another salon.

Groupon is also selling vouchers for Facelook now.

Only Aesthetics QPX - the final treatments

I have to say that their customer service standards improved significantly in my last few treatments. The people were friendlier and I see that they finally pick up calls. They were also more thorough with their treatments. During my first few treatments, I felt that they were very halfhearted. They did not zap the lower part of the underarm and did not clean the gel off completely. But my last few treatments went well. Kinda depends on luck I guess.

I didnt get perfect results. There's still hair growth. But I only have to shave maybe once a month? And it's more at the lower part (probably caused they missed it in the first few sessions).

For the existing customers, please give feedback by ticking on the form after you sign on their chit. I think it helped to get rid of the rude ones.

Also, insist on them zapping the entire underarm! Don't be like me!

When my package ended, they tried to promote a lifetime qpx treatment for $98 I think. I didnt get it. I can get a $88 lifetime package with Musee Platinum Tokyo if there is Groupon promo. I have never tried Musee Platinum Tokyo but the location is more convenient as it is in Plaza Singapura.

I have been to quite a number of sessions of QPX underarm.

I must say that I feel that their service level has improved tremendously since I first started.

It is easier to make appointments. Previously, they dont accept bookings 2 months in advance. I had to call at most 1 month before my appointment date. My QPX is at 2 months interval so I had to set reminders to make appointments. Their phone lines were also always engaged or calls were unanswered. Now, I can make my next appointment after every QPX session.

Their beauticians are friendlier and more detailed. In my first few sessions, I encountered a beautician who I felt wasn't too friendly and did a slip shod work. Recently, the beauticians are more patient, more detailed and generally more friendlier.

Less hard-sell. Even when they promote their packages, they are sweet about it. I didn't feel pressured to sign any packages.

Ibeauty & Slimming centre - massage

Just went for a 60 minutes massage session at Ibeauty (Ang Mo Kio branch) after I bought the $20 deal from www.bestbargain.com.sg

I won't be going back.

I don't like how the masseuse kept asking me to upgrade the massage from the 'relaxing' one to a better one. She said that an additional $20 will get me a 'better', more targeted treatment massage and cupping or gua sha. After I declined, she lowered to $18 which I declined again. Initially, I wanted to ask for more attention on the neck and shoulder. After hearing her promotion of the more 'targeted' treatment, I didnt as I wanted to avoid further hard-sell.

After the massage, she offered peach tea which was nice and she promoted her packages to me. She then said that the massage that she did was only 抚摸式, which literally means gentle strokes. There were times I felt that she was just touching me. Perhaps I would have gotten better treatment if I upgraded the massage. Personally, I don't think it is a nice marketing technique and I didnt want to support it.

During the talk, she also admitted that she was actually better at giving facial and that she would recommend me their better masseuse if I sign their packages. To my mind, I wondered why she would confess such a thing. And why did the company get a facial lady to give a massage to a first time customer. Shouldn't they assign a more experienced masseuse to convince the first time customers that their bodies would be in good hands if they buy the packages?

When asked about the prices of their hot stone massages, the masseuse initially said that if I sign the package it would be $48 per session. However, subsequently, after hearing that I used to pay $80-90 per session, she said the hot stone massages are $88 per session if I sign the package. After I showed hesitation, she introduced a CNY promo where the sessions are $88 for 1.5 hours.

If you are interested in going, the parlor is located near Ang Mo Kio MRT, above KOI. The staircase is behind KOI. It's hard to miss the signboard once you go behind KOI. It is simply decorated with mandarin music playing at the background. I'm not too sure if the masseuse speaks English but she is definitely more comfortable speaking Mandarin.

Okay, I don’t understand this judgment.

Why was she only charged with driving a car without insurance coverage and without a licence?

The public prosecutor recognized that she had been drinking substantially and raised her intoxication as a aggravating factor. Why not just bloody charge her with driving under the influence?

This was what the TP had to say in 2010: Traffic Police would like to remind the public that drink driving is a very serious offence and the penalties are severe. Even if the driver's alcohol content in his blood or breath does not go beyond the legal limit, he can still be charged for drink driving if he is unable to control his vehicle properly. Drink drivers, on conviction, will be disqualified from driving for at least 12 months, which would, in effect, invalidate their driving licences. In addition, first-time offenders can be fined between $1,000 and $5,000, or jailed up to 6 months, while repeat offenders may be punished with a maximum fine of $30,000 and a mandatory jail term of up to 3 years. They may also be caned up to six strokes should death or serious injury be caused

This judgment compromises the efforts by the TP on the severity of drink driving.

And, I would not call her actions negligence. I would call her plan reckless. She knows she had been drinking, she knows she does not have a license, she knows she failed her basic driving test for 13 times.

A young woman who caused the death of an elderly pedestrian when she lost control of her car in Bukit Batok in 2011was on Wednesday jailed a total of four months and banned from driving for 10 years.

Candy Siow Pei Shan, 23, had admitted to causing the death of Mr Tan Son Seng, 70, at the signalised cross-junction of Bukit Batok East Avenue 3 and Bukit Batok East Avenue 4 on Feb 12, 2011.

She had also admitted to driving the car without insurance coverage and without a licence that morning.

The court heard that Siow, a waitress, had been drinking brandy with her boyfriend at her workplace, Club Axchange, in Tanjong Pagar, and subsequently drank some more brandy and beer at a club in the Esplanade.

While driving her boyfriend's car along Bukit Batok East Avenue 3, she swerved right to make a right turn without first stopping at the junction of Bukit Batok East Avenue 4.

She panicked when she saw a car approaching in the opposite direction.

In a bid to avoid hitting the car, she lost control of the vehicle which veered to the left, mounted the road kerb and hit Mr Tan, who got crushed between the vehicle and the traffic light pole. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Citing aggravating factors in the case, Assistant Public Prosecutor Raja Mohan said Siow was legally not allowed to drive as she had no licence; had consumed a substantial amount of alcohol from midnight to 5am; and driven some 14km.

Having been unsuccessful in her 13 attempts to pass her basic driving test, she would have known that she was not competent to drive a vehicle, and yet, she did, he said.

Siow broke into tears after she was sentenced to jail by District Judge Chay Yuen Fatt who told her that she had been flippant in her conduct and negligent in her driving and that had caused the death of the pedestrian.

Just made appointment for a haircut + treatment, a deal which I got on Groupon for $29.

I actually called last week but it was fully booked for this week.

I called again just now. I only wanted to do it on Monday because it would be most convenient for me. I only managed to get an appointment on 30 Jan.

Being busy is okay, it means the business is good which probably means he is not too bad.

But the receptionist was really very flamboyant. He talked as though he did not need my business. I really did not appreciate that.

I tried calling back twice to re-schedule but no one answered. /:(

Update: I managed to get through after trying 4 times. This time, the receptionist was way better. He was a lot more polite.

This is not easy to find in Singapore. I could not find it in Watsons, Guardian or CK. I eventually bought it from Giant at around $8/$9.

I use this when my scalp feels sensitive, oily or when the weather gets humid and hot.
My scalp tends to feel sensitive at certain time of the month (sometimes even flaky), which I attribute to a change in hormone levels.

It is white and has a creamy texture. Gives a tingling sensation when massaged into scalp. SHIOK!

When applied, it can feel slightly oily but it washes off easily and does not leave a residue.

I called to make an appointment on 7 December 2011. My appointment was scheduled to be on 3 Jan 2012.

I received an SMS (screenshot below) from OA asking me to reschedule.

Rather disappointed at the short notice given. I was only informed on 31 December, 3 days before my confirmed appointment.

And she did not even bother to add my name in the SMS. I was merely referred to as customer. This is definitely not the way to build customer relations.

Growth is obviously slower than usual. I only have to shave once every few days.

No Trans fat. Healthier choice logo at the bottom

I got the Sunshine Wholemeal Cream Roll, Raspberry Flavour from NTUC. It looked pretty good. It had the Healthier Choice logo and had no Trans fat. It was not overly sweet. But the jam was surprisingly crunchy.

Initially, I thought it was the seeds from the jam. If it had been, I would have been impressed. Sadly, it was sugar! The sugar had not dissolved in the jam. It was as though the manufacturers just poured sugar out of sugar packets and forgot to stir!

Sugar for added crunch?

Super fail, I would not buy it again.

Review: Nestle Breakaway

This is super shiok, super addictive. It comes in a row of 5 (or 6, I cant remember. They were gone in a flash). I could only find this in the Market Place at Raffles City and not in normal supermarkets. They were on sale, maybe $2 or $3. Usual price would probably be double that.

The chocolate is like KitKat but the chocolate coating is more generous than Kitkat.
The center tastes very distinctly like digestive biscuits. I could taste the oat.

I would say that it tastes most similar to the dark chocolate digestive biscuits from Marks & Spencer.

On top of its awesome taste, it is only 99 calories!

To put things in perspective, the UK four-finger Kit Kat contains 233 dietary calories and the two-finger Kit Kat contains 107 calories. Marks & Spencer Dark Chocolate Digestive Biscuits has 85 calories in a single biscuit.

Breakaway is also more filling (probably because its made up digestive biscuit and not wafer).

Fewer calories + more filling = slimmer waistline + satisfaction!

Would definitely buy again!

Muffin from Edmunds Cafe, SMU ($1.80)

The muffin was okay for its price ($1.80). The chocolate chips were pretty generous but the muffin itself was average. Apparently, it was featured on the Straits Times a few years back.
I prefer the the muffin at the store below School of Accountancy. It is better and cheaper ($1.50). And have better service.

The auntie at Edmund's Cafe gave a very snappy "what do you want?" when I was ready to order. It was 4.30pm on a Saturday.

She proceded to take out a muffin from the fridge and placed it in a bag directly.
Yes, she expected me to eat the muffin cold, straight from the fridge. From my previous experiences, I was always asked if I wanted the muffin warmed up.
So disappointed with the service.

I actually ordered the Dark Cherry Mocha but was given the Toffee Nut instead. Oh well.

I could taste the toffee. It was strong but not overwhelming.

People with a sweet tooth would love this. It was sweet but acceptable for me.
