There's lots of mash up artists out there but this guy has caught my eye because of his superb use of video game soundtracks and rap. I love mash ups but there is something special about what they have done with music. All tracks are available on their website. But I will share a few of my favorite here off two of their great albums.

Vinyl Fantasy 7 has some real songs and the first time I heard it I was overcome with awe. My favorite game of all time done justice with some great tunes. Here's one of the best tracks on there feauturing a memorable song set to MF Doom's rap.

Not only one of the most perfect games to be compiled but also a soundtrack that is just as good if not better than Final Fantasy's. Every song on this album is great so take the time to go to their site up top and view through this album. Here's one of the gems.

Good Games, Food, and Movies

Today was a decent day for me, I finished all my work then did some yard work at home and capped it off with a night out. Now I'm home and planning out my next two days. It's supposed to pour rain for the rest of the weekend so I am trying to pick a good RPG to get into and spend some time playing. Or maybe I'll resubscribe to World of Warcraft if I have no plans. Rain or shine tomorrow I am going out with a few friends garage sale hunting looking for a new Nintendo 64 and maybe some old school games if I am lucky. I got a good recipe I wanna try tomorrow for sirloin burgers which I will grill despite the rain because burgers are just that much better on a grill :D. I'm excited to get to sleep but first I need to pick a good movie to watch or a few for the next few days. Any new releases you guys recommend? I was thinking of starting to watching Deadwood or Doctor Who also. Well I hope everyone's saturdays aren't as rain filled as mine will be. Have a good one all.

One last thing for all you game fanatics I stumbled across a pretty cool site for keeping track of all the games you play in order to share with others. You can find the website here. If you wanna make one we can start following each other and I need to start adding all my games O_o. That could be a whole day in itself. Finally here is an awesome gallery that I found. It's basically on set pictures from classic movies. The pictures are awesome, enjoy.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://docwaffles.blogspot.com/2011/06/rainy-weekend-good-games-food-and.html' title='Rainy Weekend? A group of guys from Taiwan spend the past two months creating this epic stop motion story about Cloud fighting Sephiroth in order to save Aeris. Here's some footage from the upcoming Battlefield 3. I'm not the biggest FPS fan but this one looks like it will be a good one so thought I'd share it with those who haven't seen it yet. The heat is brutal over here hope all of you are staying cool. Gonna make myself some iced coffee and read today before my day really starts going. Another interested bit is this essay I read about privacy on the internet. If you have the time read it because it is worth it and covers the whole "I don't need internet anonymity, I have nothing to hide" argument. Here it is. If you don't have the time to read 28 pages (understandable) here is the conclusion:

"Whether explicit or not, conceptions of privacy underpin nearly every argument made about privacy, even the common quip “I’ve got nothing to hide.” As I have sought to demonstrate in this essay, understanding privacy as a pluralistic conception reveals that we are often talking past each other when discussing privacy issues. By focusing more specifically on the related problems under the rubric of “privacy,” we can better address each problem rather than ignore or conflate them. The nothing to hide argument speaks to some problems, but not to others. It represents a singular and narrow way of conceiving of privacy, and it wins by excluding consideration of the other problems often raised in government surveillance and data mining programs. When engaged with directly, the nothing to hide argument can ensnare, for it forces the debate to focus on its narrow understanding of privacy. But when confronted with the plurality of privacy problems implicated by government data collection and use beyond surveillance and disclosure, the nothing to hide argument, in the end, has nothing to say."

Other Bits and Pieces from E3

Here are a few trailers also from E3. A few of which aren't really getting much press so maybe this will be your guys' first time hearing about these. I'm not going to say I was disappointed with E3 this year because that wouldn't be the right word. There was a lack of PC games but there usually isn't anything that big for us anyway. I just don't like everything being pushed to be played with motion technology. Anyway back to the list, here it goes.

The age old joke that Rock Band/Guitar Hero was time that sohuld have been spent learning an actual instrument. Well apparently Ubisoft heard the jokes and saw the South Park episode. Basically you will have your own real guitar and learn lessons like you would with an actual teacher. A cool idea let's see how it works out when it's released in October.

This is Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning and it will be an Adventure RPG for the 360 and PS3. Basically from what everyone is saying it seems as if the developers realized that Fable two and three were crap and the world needs a good Fantasy RPG like the original. Looking forward to trying this one but it won't be released until sometime in 2012.

Now this is a third person shooter coming to the 360 and PS3 and will have multi-player as well as single player. This one seems kind of strange it's going to be heavily based around gravity with a lot of shifting in landscape and view. To me it sounds like Cloverfield so you'll get a headache and the music in the trailer is just the Inception bass. But all that aside it can be a cool one, we'll see in February 2012.

The Best Parts of the 2011 E3 Conference Thus Far

E3 has been full of remakes and sequels all while pushing Kinect and Move down the consumers throats. Here are the best parts that I have seen in my opinion. I've been watching most of the coverage and all joking aside there have been some cool stuff. First, here's sony solving the age old "screen looker" problem.

After some reading people say this have been done before buy Sony seems to be redefining it and I think that this is very cool. I've had several fights over this stuff personally as a child. Now just a few hours ago Nintendo released a showcase of their new console: Wii U

Looks pretty cool I'll wait for more. As for my other thing that I love is Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's demo. I really have loved all of the Elders Scrolls as an RPG fan. If you haven't yet you should try to play Oblivion and Morrowwind if you have never tried doing it. Some people say they're boring in the beginning but they are very fun and amazing stories.
I work a temp job for the summer and basically go around doing odd jobs for companies in my county. Today I had the privilege of unloading a furniture shipment from Thailand. It was pretty exhausting and hot to boot but I'm glad I did it. It was quite a work out and very hot inside of the 18 wheeler it came on. The people I worked with were cool and helpful, sometimes you get stuck with a lazy kid but everyone there did their part to make it go fast. Now, I am going to make some Asian Chicken Thighs on the grill and eat lunch with a couple of friends who are headed here.

A band that actually was formed in the town next to me but has since made it quite big is Titus Andronicus. I heard about them before I went to school in Boston then I was walking past a bar and saw they were headlining and I remember they were form the town near me in New Jersey. But anyway, they've made it big and are pretty talented.

If you have the time check out The Monitor by them if you haven't heard it, it's a pretty darn good album. I'll throw their popular track on here. Hope you guys like it.
Running on a little sleep but I'm good for now. What I'm here to discuss mainly is breakfast. Now forget all that "most important meal of the day". I'm not here for nutrition I'm here for the meal that makes me get ready to kick the day ahead of me in the face and smile the whole time. So what's the breakfast? What's the go to? I love to cook eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, waffles, the works. But this morning I was in a lazy mood and ate some cereal. Which may be my favorite.

Now the reason I'm writing this is I'm here to ask you what your favorite cereal is. Breakfast foods aside I'm just talking straight up pulling out the box and enjoying a large bowl of it. I had a bowl a few hours ago and either I'm gonna have another shorty or I think it's time for me to get cooking. Feel free to suggest what I should cook this week and post here. Also, playing a little a TF2 if you guys wanna play I'll post my steam ID.

Video Games You May (Not) Have Forgotten About

Hey all, hope you're all doing well and enjoying the weekend. Well after yesterdays post I learned most of my readers do not care for Kanye West. Oh well, subjectivity is big in music just giving you guys a taste of mine :P. Anyway I will be taking your guys advice and be posting some pictures and try to compile some recipes of the next good dish I cook. This will most likely be sunday afternoon or even monday. So thanks for that suggestion because I think it could help those of you who aren't comfortable in a kitchen to try some new stuff or even the most veteran cooks a new take on a dish they may be accustom to. So as for the blog currently, I'm gonna talk about some games I've been playing and enjoying that I haven't thought about in a while so try them out if you have them laying around.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors

(SNES & Sega Genesis)
This game my friends takes me back to simpler time of all my troubles being brisked away by walking across the street and playing this game with my best friend. We would battle as Zeke and Julie to save the overrun town of their zombie infestation. Developed by Lucas Arts and published by Konami I recommend this game for it's use of weapons and really becomes challenging in time.

Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber

(Nintendo 64)

One of the first discussions I had with my college roommate which I still firmly remember was a discussion of old school games. We both brought up this game, it's a rare one too and I knew he was a true old school gamer. It's a strategy RPG but the story of your character Magnus Gallant is really enthralling and is worth the play for any gamer.

Tomba!

(Play Station 1)

This side scrolling adventure started with a demo disc I believe I received in the mail for a mailing list for a magazine. After playing it I knew it was worth purchasing, I was still young and this was my type of game. Basically you play as Tomi and are trying to steal your grandfather's bracelet back from some evil pigs, damn pigs. Fun, energetic, memorable.

Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3

(Game Boy)
This is one of my favorite game boy games still I recently played it through when I discovered the box full of my old game boy games. It's really a neat adventure and a nice break from always playing as that punk plumber :D. The powerups in this game aren't classic like SMB but they are bad ass compared to Mario's. The adventure is fun and really a good story for a handheld game from 1994.

Well let me know your guys' experience with these games and I'll be sure to check back about what you have to say. Hope you liked my list of a few underrated games. I could really use a cup of coffee right now and think I'm gonna go fix myself one. Lately I've been working on my programming skills in my summer off from college (I'm a CS major). Also I've been cooking a good amount and trying some new recipes and such. There's also been a lot of work to do around where I live, but I enjoy doing it all. Anyway, I think it's time I should share a couple more of my favorite tracks with you guys. In no particular order I present to you a few of my favorites lately that I've listened to through my restless nights.
It is pretty creepy but it is one of my favorite secrets I have ever learned of. Enjoy!

Laid inside Elwynn Forest there is the human starting area of Goldshire, this is also the Lion's Pride Inn which is renown as being a whorehouse in Role Playing Servers. Once you get over this fact there is a layer of creepiness that surpasses all the cyber sex that has been educed in those rooms, especially when you consider that 80% of the time one party involved probably thought the other was female. But I digress, anyway at the edge of Crystal Lake there is a house which is normally empty except at a certain time. All World of Warcraft servers reset at 7:00 AM server time and if you find your way to this room you will stumble across six children standing in an interesting formation.

Yes, that's a pentagram and they are all facing the wall. I'll let you catch your breath because it gets even weirder. The music changes when you enter this room while they are in there. Several different players have accounts of strange noises on top of the music. There are even players that claim to have heard the noises of C'Thun (AQ boss) saying "you will die" and banshees screaming. Well here's the kicker, if you take the time you can follow them from the capital of Stormwind (at 7 A.M.) until they reach their home on Crystal lake at around 7:45 AM. Oh and isn't this just precious! They never break their pentagram form!

One of the additional things about the room they dwell in (only for a short time remember then they are gone) is the music that plays while they are there. Websites and players have searched for this music throughout the game and this room is the only example of any of this music being played throughout all of the world that the designers have created.

If you play the game, go check it out! It's not hard and every account hears different noises so maybe you will get something new. If not just enjoy the fact that you now know about one of the greatest Easter Eggs of our time, or at least the greatest in WoW. World of Warcraft holds oodles of Easter Eggs and it's hard to even scratch the surface of them.

Television (Rules the Nation)

I'm looking for a good TV series to start watching during my free time in the summer. I've watched a good amount through all the way and I'll show my favorites here. Maybe afterwards you could suggest something for me and please watch these series if you find the time to start, they are all worth the ride. There are several series I love but these three have the qualities that allow me to re-watch and still enjoy. I've been very busy doing some home renovation and have a lot more work ahead of me today but will try to post again after I finish. But without further ado here's the greatest television series I have ever had the privilege of viewing in their entirety. Hope you like this list!

My number one by far, the perfect series.

My comedy, the subtle humor and jokes are layered beyond belief.

This is one of my favorites due to the sure oddity of it and the length you have to go to find it. Basically Chris Houlihan won a contest in Nintendo Power to get his own room in the next Zelda game which was A Link to the Past. After winning this contest it seemed to most that he was lost among Nintendo's designers but now we all understand what happened.

This Easter Egg was very elusive for years only few knew about this room but thanks to the internet it has become more known. To find this room there are different methods but they all require the Pegasus boots and a good amount of luck. To get in here you need to gain enough speed to jump into it, not too much not too little or you'll go in another one. Once inside, there are 45 blue rupees and a sign stating "My name is Chris Houlihan. This is my top secret room. Keep it between us, OK?" Nintendo Power has since done contests but none of them allowed you to win a room like this one. The Chris Houlihan room is one of the more unique and jealous enducing Easter eggs of all time. His name now lives in infamy.

Happy Memorial Day (And 300 Followers)

Memorial Day is dedicated to the men and women who gave their lives for this country. My respect and gratitude is beyond comprehensible and there are some great stories and video games spawned from what they have done in the past. It's going to be a beautiful day and I will be spending it with some family and friends and hope you guys will be doing the same. It's a good time to relax enjoy good food and the company around you to remember what has happened before your time. Here are two of my favorite war movies.

The film is based on the book Heart of Darkness and is just a brilliant piece of film. If you get some free time read up on the filming of this movie and how it was "cursed". There is actually a documentary made on it in 1991 entitled' 'Heart of Darkness: A Filmmakers Apocalypse'. Everything that could have gone wrong basically did. First off there were several times that they went over their budget. Then Marlon Brando showed up severely obese causing them to shoot the scenes with him in the dark. It was shot during monsoon season which caused their sets to be destroyed several times. Martin Sheen had a heart-attack due to the fact that he was drinking heavily. But despite all of this somehow the film worked out in favor of Francis Ford Coppola.

If you have seen this film or know anything about it your mind will probably be drawn to the iconic opening scene. The gruesome depiction of D-Day would have been enough for everyone to remember it if the film had ended right there. This story is very different than Apocalypse Now. It tells more of a story about the bond that men form when they are fighting for the same cause. It's something that those who have not served really can't comprehend but I think it's a feeling stronger than love. All of the supporting cast around Hanks does a superb job as well. The raw emotion in this film is the best depiction of a war that I have ever seen and just the raw effect on the human psyche. If you have not seen this film yet please take the time to watch it. It reminds me of Apocalypse Now only because of the amount of high brow actors in it.

I want to thank everyone who follows my blog, sorry I don't have time for a longer post but I hope you enjoy your holiday and on top of the movies I hope you guys take the time to enjoy a few video games inspired from the wars of our past. I want you to explore the world outside of CoD because there are some really good shooters available on all platforms. I am predominantly an RPG gamer but I love a good FPS. I had just bought my own personal desktop and set it up in my room and had opened my mind to PC gaming. I was enthralled by the world of PC Gaming (which I still am) and needed to pick a good game. I chose World of Warcraft and spent the next five or so years building characters with friends (real life and those internet ones). It was the most positive game experience of my life to date and it's hard for me to find something similar to this date.

Since the past year or so I have gotten off World of Warcraft but I still love it. It just wasn't the same for me and I am too busy lately for it. But what I'm writing this for is to ask you guys what MMO you have fallen in love with or are still playing. I'm looking to try a new one this summer since I have more free time. I love just about all PC games and am willing to try some of the suggested ones. WoW will always be my staple for PC gaming and I'm sure I'll be dragged in every time an expansion comes out ;)

It was never a bad addiction like console gamers or people who don't understand WoW but it just made me happy to be there and there's no comparing it. It's easy to make fun of something you don't understand but I will always love MMO's (along with FPS, RPG, RTS etc.). But World of Warcraft just showed me a world that taught me how amazing gaming could be. I never did anything bad because I shouldn't have been playing WoW and did instead. Well that's my two cents, what's yours?

A TributeTo Difficult Video Game Moments

Now I could spend my whole day talking about NES games because truly back then the gaming industry wasn't catering to casual players and wanted everything for the most part to be a challenge. The fact that they did this makes these games still viable today. I don't want to make a NES list only so in this intro I will give a head-nod to the fact that NES had the hardest games I have ever picked up in my entire life (Battletoads, Punch out, TMNT bomb defuse underwater, Ninja Gaiden, etc.) . So I'm just going to make a short list of games that make me red in the face and still would to this day.

The Water Temple in my favorite game Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, just a confusing place with hard battles and plenty of anger to build up as you wander aimlessly through it. I recently played through this game and still spent days in this place refusing to look up any guide and fighting my way in circles.

The underwater Weapon named the Emerald Weapon in Final Fantasy 7. With the timer on and one bad ass boss I hated this battle. Breeding Chocobos to get the Knight of the Round Materia was also a pain. I have not done this since I was an adolescent but I remember how hard and how angry it made me.

The final boss in Half Life took me weeks of playing to actual get the strategy down to beat this guy. Between jumping all around the room and evading his glowing balls this boss battle was a true challenge but worth it because this game is still amazing.

C'Thun was a raid boss in World of Warcraft and by far the hardest boss I fought in the game in my years of playing it. This was a vanilla 40 man raid of the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj and his battle and this was before Naxx or The Burning Crusade for those who are new to the game. It's hard to describe how hard his phases were and just how worthwhile you felt after downing him.

Albums That You (May Not) Have Heard

Well in this post I will attempt to show you music not all of you have heard from different genres, I'm not saying you will love it, just telling you it may be different than what you are used to. Music and gaming are not only my two favorite things but a better pairing than bacon and eggs (or mac and cheese or pb&j). But sometimes I like to shut the console off close my computer screen and sit outside enjoying the weather around me while taking in the music. Lately I've been trying genres I haven't dug too deeply into. I'll show the three most listened to albums of the past few weeks. One again, remember music like all of life's great treasures is subjective so feel free to tell me what you enjoy too.

TV On The Radio - Nine Types of Light

TV on the Radio released Nine Types of Light about a month ago and just weeks after the release their bass player died from Lung Cancer. This band is very hit and miss for people so I'll let you preview this one. I have seen them live three times now and they are just an amazing group of musicians. I know this type of music probably isn't for everyone but I love all of their music and hope you guys do too.

MF Doom - MM Food

MF Doom will forever be the rapper that opened my eyes to how talented and amazing hip hop was. I can single handily attribute him to the taste of music I hold today. This is probably my favorite album by him but really all of them are perfect. He goes by several other names (Madvillain, King Geedorah, DOOM, Viktor Vaughn, Metal Face) and really epitomizes rap.

LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening

LCD Soundsystem recently did their final show and it was one of the most amazing things I had the pleasure of witnessing. If you have not listened to them before this album is a good jumping off point. James Murphy is extremely talented and I would probably name this as the best or one of the best albums to be released in 2010.

Honorable mention: Tyler the Creator - Goblin, I love rap and this guy has got a very unique style and I love his music. But part of me keeps myself from loving him entirely.

Video Game Soundtracks

Music in video games tends to be overlooked on the surface. But once you hear it outside of the game and you feel that emotional trip it sends you on you know someone has done something right. Once you find the appreciation for video game music it changes the way games impress you. To pick a favorite would be ludicrous but I am going to name ones that when I hear the sound I am transported to a time alone in my room gripping a controller tightly hoping to anticipate what comes next.

Final Fantasy has the most amazing soundtrack to me and Mario at a close second. There isn't a note you could play from either of those franchises that doesn't make me nostalgic. But if I had to choose my favorite single game it would be Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Today I want to discuss the fighters for I left a good amount out of yesterdays discussion. There are a ridiculous amount of arcade games so I am just going to skim the surface on ones that make me nostalgia hard. I know I am going to miss some that you loved so please feel free to add ones in the comments that I missed. I love arcade and wish there were a bigger market for them today. So I'll stop my rambling and start talking fighters.

Moral Kombat, test your might. This franchise is still around today but the arcade was my introduction to it and left an impression on me and opened my eyes to fighters. It was revolutionary at its time and even looked down upon for its gore but it was a staple for my arcade visits.

While Mortal Kombat left an impression Street Fighter is a game that I still love today and will play if I come across it. The second one was also available on the SNES but when I was on vacation I would play this in the arcade and never bought the cartridge version.

Tekken 3 had graphics that made me fall back in my chair at the time and between Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag I spent a lifetime of quarters on these two. I would always fight my brother and there isn't a character in this franchise I don't enjoy playing.

Soul Calibur was a game that revitalized the fighter at a time it seemed to be slumping. I loved this franchise and hope to see more of it. I loved the weapons that this game used and the way that this was new to fighters also the graphics were stunning for anything of its time.

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, what a beautiful game and elegant way of putting two different worlds together. The amount of characters to choose from was monumental and left you pleased no matter what box you were going to land on. I loved the third one that came out recently but it wasn't quite on the level that this one was. This game took the most of my life by far and I still love playing this fighter.

Honorable Mention: Virtual Fighter, Super Smash Melee (I think of this as mainly GCube), and X-Men Vs. Street Fighter

The innovative games really set the course for gaming and recently I broke mine out and started playing. Here is the list of my top five games on the SNES, mainly based on how fun it was to replay after fifteen years of absence.

5. Super Mario World

What could Nintendo have possibly done after Super Mario Brothers 3? Possibly being one of the greatest games of all time many were left to wonder what they would have done. This game passed the test with flying colors by adding Yoshi adding a whole new dynamic of play. The graphics changed made it feel like a new game and made it deeper than SMB3 with all the bonus levels and re-playable levels.

4. Super Metroid

The level design of this game still holds up and its story is one of the best I have ever played in a side scroller. Samus' power ups and new weapon system is still very amazing and with the crazy boss battles this game held up with the passing of time, this was a game I was not sure of and it is absolutely awesome still. The map system added a new phase to the game and honestly this game shoots the NES one out of the water.

3. Final Fantasy III

This game really set the pace at which the Final Fantasy series would accelerate at over in the United States after the wide success of this game. The story still holds up and the way that the game progresses each individual story is rivaled by few other games even in modern days. Even the battle system did not bore me. I didn't want to be biased with Final Fantasy because it's one of my favorite series but this one is still great and should be played by all gamers.

2. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to The Past

I already spent the above paragraph praising the Final Fantasy series when in all honestly I could spend the rest of my life playing the Legend of Zelda series. If Ocarina of Time had never been released (please, no) this probably would be the single greatest Zelda game of all time. Similar to the way Super Metroid surpasses its NES predecessor this one built on the old one in so many ways. The world was substantial and the game seemed to never end, but only in retrospect. At the time I never minded spending all this time on my game. With all the side missions and hidden places this game is one of the best ever.

1. Chrono Trigger

As we write this I am playing this game for the second time through this year, I really can't say enough about this game and the different style of RPG it introduced but I will attempt to do so. The battle system for starters was new and a very nice change of pace from the usual random encounters. It has its roots in other RPGs because the people that worked on this game were developers from both Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. The character development is from some of the people who would go on to develop Dragon Ball Z. Chrono is one of my favorite characters and I reccomened this game to anyone. Honestly I recommend all the games on this list to anyone who enjoys a good time.

Well, that's all for now. Hope you enjoyed the list. There are others I wish I could of added but I wanted to narrow it down to just five of them. Enjoy!

Back on My Grind

Wow it's been a while. Got very caught up with personal stuff and am very happy to be back. In this post I am going to discuss a few things that have happened in my absence.

A whole lot of this game happened and also I started my job cooking a lot. Portal 2 was great, I won't go all nuts but it was pretty darn perfect. I have been leveling new characters in World of Warcraft and trying to get all the achievements I can on TF2. Tomorrow I will be making another top five list so I hope you all enjoy that. This is all for now.
