Since I decided to dive into their actual pint ice cream line I’ve had to try as many flavors as possible, Vanilla Maple was next on my list. As I said before, the first thing that caught my eye (which probably caught yours) was the 150 calories per pint stamped right on the front. That’s about 85% less calories than a normal Ben & Jerry’s pint. SOLD! But how does the taste compare?

First and foremost the macros on it are awesome. When has it ever been possible to eat ice cream and feel as though you’re eating something healthy? “Now” would be the appropriate answer and “Thank you” would be my follow-up

We can debate about each individual ingredient all day long for the people who diagnose everything but what we will agree on is that almost everything in moderation is fine. If you eat 20 pints of this just as if you ate 20 can of tuna or anything else, it wouldn’t be good for you. Too much of anything is bad. Now off to the benefits:

Benefits:

< 150 calories per pint

Gluten Free

Low Sugar

Suitable for Lactose Intolerants

Only Natural and Organic Ingredients

Low Gylcemic & Suitable for Type 2 Diabetes

14 grams of Whey Protein per pint!

Kosher (Chof-K)

Non-GMO

8 grams of Fiber per pint!

No Hydrogenated Oils

No Sugar Alcohols

Before eating this ice cream it is best to leave it out to thaw for 10-15 minutes (which they tell you to do) or throw it in the microwave for 10 seconds like me if you are impatient!

Now Vanilla Maple to me doesn’t sound too great. I’m not that much of a vanilla fan and maple…well, I don’t ever really crave anything “maple”. The smell of this smells exactly like vanilla maple should so I was wondering if it would taste the same as it smells (delicious)…and it does! They hit the nail on the head with this one. As I said before the consistency isn’t “identical” to ice cream but with this one it’s pretty close. This one has the perfect blend of vanilla and maple. The maple is not too strong or too light – just like you think it should taste! Awesome job by Arctic Zero.

This is definitely a way to get your craving out of the way while still remaining healthy (and not feeling guilty).

You can find where to purchase this at their homepage http://myarcticzero.com

or Facebook at http://facebook.com/arcticzero

Overall:

Taste: 9/10 (I’d say almost identical to the high calorie alternative!)

Cost: 6.5/10 (About $5-6 a pint which is on the high end but lets face it…you’re paying more for the macros and that’s worth it)

Healthiness: 9/10 (37 calories a serving…GREAT substitute)

Also I feel I should state this in my reviews: I have no issue giving a company a bad review even if they do send me a product to try for free – they are NOT paying me for a positive review, these reviews all come from me with my complete honesty.

Since I’ve reviewed a few other previous Arctic Zero products I decided to dive into their actual pint ice cream line. The first thing that caught my eye (which probably caught yours) was the 150 calories per pint stamped right on the front.

Non-GMO

8 grams of Fiber per pint!

No Sugar Alcohols

So I bet you’re wondering how this “healthy” ice cream tastes. As stated in the paper you receive with it, it’s best to let this thaw out for 10-15 minutes before you eat it (tastes a lot better). I found microwaving it for 10 seconds sped this process up (I was craving it!).

As for how it compares to actual mint chocolate ice cream – not so bad. It’s definitely not the same “consistency” as regular ice cream but it’s cold and produces a fairly good resemblance to it. The chocolate portion of it is good – it does need more of a mint flavor in my opinion. Now even thought the consistency is not the same, it still hit my sweet spot (I ate the whole pint in one sitting)!

Now I should probably say this – for WHAT IT IS (150 calorie 15 grams of whey protein ice cream) it does more than a good job at tasting good!

This is definitely a way to get your craving out of the way while still remaining healthy (and not feeling guilty).

Taste: 7/10 (Pretty accurate. Needs more mint flavor!)

Cost: 6.5/10 (About $5-6 a pint which is on the high end but lets face it…you’re paying more for the macros and that’s worth it)

Like I said before we’ve all had those “sweet” cravings on a diet. Well a grade A answer to those cravings is a company called Arctic Zero. In this review we will talk about the two other flavors I didn’t previously review, chocolate dipped strawberry and chocolate dipped orange cream ice cream bars that they make!

The benefits of this bar:

85 Calories

Gluten Free

Low Sugar (5g)

Suitable for Lactose Intolerants

Only Natural and Organic Ingredients

Low Gylcemic & Suitable for Type 2 Diabetes

Made with Whey Protein

Kosher (Chof-K)

Non-GMO

Contains Fiber

No Hydrogenated Oils

No Sugar Alcohols

To keep it simple, good things DO come in small packages every now and then.

The chocolate dipped strawberry and chocolate dipped orange cream come in a four pack together (two of each). As noted when you get the box you should let them thaw out for 5-10 minutes before eating them (makes them tastes a lot better).

The chocolate dipped strawberry bar (above) is fairly identical to the real thing. The chocolate dipped part tastes exactly like it should however the strawberry is about 70% as accurate as the real thing. It’s not that it doesn’t taste like strawberry, it does, it could just use more of a strawberry “kick” if that makes any sense. Still a good tasting bar and a great substitute though!

The chocolate dipped orange cream bar (above) is amazing! Now I have to first say I am partial to orange over strawberry (which may be why I liked this one better) but how can you not love the original orange cream bars? This “low calorie alternative” is identical to the real thing. In fact, I would call it a safe bet if you were to blind taste test someone with the real thing and this. Love it!

These are definitely a way to get your cravings out of the way while still remaining healthy (and not feeling guilty). I would (and will) buy these again.

Overall:

Taste: 8/10 Strawberry 9.5/10 Orange Cream (Almost identical at 70% less calories)

Cost: 7/10 (You’re paying more for the macros)

Recently Supreme Protein sent me a few of their bars to review at my request. As I’m sure you’ve read I love anything with peanut butter in it (for the most part). If you grew up at all like I did, at some point in your life you fell in love with the classic PB&J sandwich. As you become more and more aware of how healthy things are, you realize the calories are probably better spent elsewhere. Is it possible to have a healthy variation of a PB&J?

According to Supreme Protein, it is. But does it taste like a PB&J? Well…according to me, it tastes even BETTER than a PB&J. First of all, it smells just like a classic PB&J sandwich which triggers your mouth to instantly eat it…which then leads to a mouthgasm of some sort. It is DELICIOUS. Probably the best protein bar combo I’ve ever had. The thin layer of jelly on top meshes perfectly with the peanut butter as you bite into it

As far as the macros on this bar go, they are great as well. Some would be quick to give sugar alcohol a bad look but in reality there is nothing wrong with sugar alcohol. As I’ve said before, like anything else, as long as you eat it in moderation (not large quantities) you are fine. Another plus for Supreme is that they make these bars with whey protein! Usually I would eat this before or after the gym.

You can buy these bars at CVS, Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens, GNC, and thousands of other retail locations. You can also purchase them online through the Shop portion of http://www.supremeprotein.com/

Like Supreme Protein on Facebook (they always have a ton of giveaways!): http://www.facebook.com/supremeprotein

Follow them on Twitter: http://twitter.com/Supreme_Protein

Overall:

Taste: 10+/10 (AMAZING! A PB&J sandwich combined into a protein bar…but better!)

Cost: 9/10 ($1-2+ – depends on the size)

Healthiness: 8/10 (really good – especially for the sweet tooth kick you get)

Also I feel I should state this in my reviews: I have no issue giving a company a bad review even if they do send me a product to try for free – they are NOT paying me for a positive review, these reviews all come from me with my complete honesty.

About a week ago I received the Turbo Shaker. Throughout the past decade or so I have gone through maybe fifty different protein shakers. We’ve all had shakers that have fallen apart, got ruined in the dish washer, started leaking, and so on. Could the Turbo Shaker be the end all to this?

It very well could be!

Over the course of the week I used it for making:

Pancake mix (great)

Mixed drinks during the Superbowl (great, especially to wash away the sorrow of my team losing!)

Morning and post-gym protein shakes (great)

The simple design that it is works extremely well at blending all of the ingredients you put inside it rather quick!

Now of course this is a competitive market as there are a few other good shakers out there nowadays so I will go ahead and state what the Turbo Shaker does better than the others that I’ve seen

It takes about two seconds to clean (nice and big and you’re able to fit your hand down to the bottom)

The seal is the best seal out of any other shaker I’ve had. There is nothing coming out of this when it’s closed

It’s cheaper than it’s competitors (while offering a variety of awesome colors)

It has a “wider” top so the room for error (spilling any ingredients while putting them in) is slim to none. I found this to be great since I’m prone to spilling some powder every now and then!

I used a protein + peanut butter combo for most of my shakes which blended amazingly well (about 5 seconds)

Another benefit of this shaker is the fact it has measuring labels on the side which I found extremely useful

You can buy the Turbo Shaker on their main website at http://www.turboshaker.com/

Like Turbo Shaker on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/turboshaker

Cost: 8.5/10 ($5-8 depending on how many you buy and where you buy them )

Ease Of Use: 10/10 (Self explanatory)

Overall: 9/10

Also I feel I should state this in my reviews: I have no issue giving a company a bad review even if they do send me a product to try for free – they are NOT paying me for a positive review, these reviews all come from me with my complete honesty.
