my 365 project has failed again.. I only reached 66 pics compared to 90+ pics in 2011..

It was still an eventful year full of fun and adventure.. And I made a few videos throughout the year

The USC night league 2013 was held at Emperador Stadium this year and was very exciting.

My Ultimate team went to Binondo for a fun food trip

Went early and biked from Harbor Point south to Zoobic Safari, then north up to Subic Town. just a nice 66km ride..
Spent the rest of the day hanging out watching Beach Ultimate

How time flies.

It's been 60 days (today is March 1)
Looking back I would like to say it's been a good year so far.

K3 played well in the New Year's League (4th place in pool A)
I've been biking more and in the past week started to swim again.
Timex 226 is still in December but I need to start training now.

Looking forward to more trips out of town, getting closer to my in-laws-to-be and being more proactive at work (they've asked me to join a few committees)

So much to do, so much I want to do.. I just have to remember to focus and enjoy.

I did a portrait shoot of my friend Gretchen
She's my Ultimate (Frisbee) teammate in K3.
When she told us she was publishing a chapbook, I got curious about this shy little girl

Where are you from? What do you do? What do you have going on in life?

I’m from Quezon City, and I just graduated last October 2012 from Ateneo with a degree in Creative Writing. (Although I’m still waiting to march on March 2013.) I started working as a copywriter and marketing assistant at Crazy Monkeys Design Studio, and I also write freelance for WhenInManila.com and Glamourbox. When did you start writing? Who do you write for? (Who's your audience) Writing was always something I loved to do, even as a little girl. So as early as kindergarten, I’d be writing silly poems about nature, my favorite toys, the people I loved—anything under the sun really. And I’d give these poems to my mom, dad, Lola, Lolo, Titos and Titas. I think it was in the 7th grade when I was so obsessed about WWE and was starting to get crazy about Harry Potter that I began writing my own fanfiction on the wrestlers/characters I loved to ship—which eventually led to writing original work. I don’t really write for a particular audience. I write because I want to. Because I can create my own world. Because I can take people, events and moments—and manipulate them in such a way that appeals to me. It’s a bit escapist, but I love the feeling of holding my pen and draft notebook, or sitting in front of my laptop, and knowing I can do anything or be anything.

Describe your writing process: What do you do when you have a writer's block?

I love writing at night or in the wee hours of the morning. There’s just something about the mood and the silence that gets the creative juices flowing. I also always bring a pen and my little draft notebook with me. So anywhere I go, when an idea sparks or I think of something as simple as a one-liner I can use for a character, I can jot it down.

I think the best way to avoid writer’s block is to live, and I mean to really live. Heighten your senses. Feel things completely. Step outside your comfort zone. With me, I grew up in a very sheltered environment—my parents were (are still) overprotective, I studied in an all-girl private school, and even in college I was quite spoon-fed. It’s only now that I’m really getting to experience life outside the box—because of people in ultimate and climbing. I also think that reading, and reading a lot, is a good way to evade getting stuck in a rut.

What made you publish this chapbook? Do your friends and family look at you differently now that they've read?

It’s always been one of my dreams to publish a novel. So when my block mates were thinking about publishing a series of chapbooks to give us more exposure and allow a wider range of readers, I was definitely in on the idea. It probably sounds contradicting, but I’m a little shy to let people read my work. There are only a select few that I actually show my work to (aside from professors and workshop classes).

Publishing the chapbook helped me get rid of that wariness. I’m actually not sure if my family and friends look at me differently now. Maybe! Haha. Especially those who didn’t think I was capable of such twisted plots.

Dark, Lonely, yet Funny.

I hear you're a Potterhead. Do you despise Twihards?

No, not really. I’ve never read the books though—just watched all the movies. My cousin, who hates reading, actually read the series. So I don’t see the point of despising something that encourages more people to read.

What else do you enjoy reading?

I’m a huge, huge fan of Megan McCafferty’s the Sloppy Firsts series. That’s actually where I got the quote, “My thoughts create my world.” Right now, I’m reading The Memory Keeper’s Daughter by Kim Edwards. I’ve got about twelve more books in my reading list, including The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami, and The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

It's Chinese new year.
I heard mass with my parents in the morning while my siblings Ira and Issa went to spend some family time with their fiances who happen to be Chinese.

It's the year of the water Snake..
I don't read much into the texts but supposedly it's going to be a good year.

In any case, I feel really good and it's my plan to make it a good year. I hope you guys have a good year as well

Long day at work and late night at frisbee practice.. by the time I got home, I only had 20 minutes til midnight and i hadn't shot anything for the day..
I was thinking should i dress up first since i was still my my smelly ultimate get up, or shoould I start looking for a shot.. It was extra dusty in Corinthians tonight and decided to take a quick shower, so when I was stripping down, I noticed the empty hamper, and I knew I got my shot..

this is my empty hamper using my Sigma 10-20, and I just popped a flash into it

So it's been a month and I would like to share some thoughts on my progress of the 365

I've had 2 of my photos on the Explore page of Flickr.

It's a very special honor since they pick the most interesting images of the day from the 10s of thousands of pics they post everyday from all around the world

The first one was my breakfast picture:

It's got around 800 views and a lot of likes..
I was trying to take a top down view but all my test shots were horrible. My egg torta was bit overcooked and it didn't photograph well. This was a last minute angle change before I moved on and took shots of the bookshelf. Those didn't come out well also and I finally chose this out of dozen of bad shots that day. Lucky shot? maybe..

The next photo which got featured in Explore was Day 8

The family (actually just Issa) was taking down the Christmas decorations and I had to take a shot with the lil Santas before they put them away.

I have a number of followers here different from the ones that see my work in Flickr.
Mostly friends and acquaintances, I see how the likes on Flickr and Instagram differ and how their tastes are different from each other

Things I've learned:

1. If you put #hashtags, there are people around the world that search for those tags and will like your photo

2. I should bring my camera with me all the time. I do have my cellphone, but my current phone has a SUCKY camera and I'm unhappy with all the ones I took with my phone

3. Biking around is not only for exercise, but is a good way for me to look a nice shot
