<p>At the ceremony, Steve Steele the President of IBMC welcomed the honorees and their families. Diana Gunderson Vice President of Education spoke on “ABK and what it means” and gave the introduction of honorees.</p>
<p>Student speakers were Joanna Drohman, Elena Perez and Jennifer Pearson</p>
<p>The ABK Honor Keys, and flowers were presented by:  Angela Massengill, Jack Oleson, Ed Wulf and Jarrod Green.   Jose Valdes Dean of Academic Services presented the ABK sashes.</p>
<p>Student membership in ABK is based on the following criteria: Leadership and service in class &amp; school activities, personal integrity, good moral character, and a 3.75 cumulative GPA &#8211; upon completing 40 credits. When graduating, these students will wear a red sash of distinction denoting their ABK membership.</p>

<p>Alpha Beta Kappa is the only Honor Society in America that represents degree granting institutions, junior colleges, senior colleges, and student- centered private career schools. Membership demonstrates that an institution of learning is committed to students. More importantly, membership denotes earned recognition to those individuals who have studied to learn a marketable skill.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Institute of Business and Medical Careers (IBMC) campuses recently held a barbecue, a massage clinic fundraiser in addition to an internal promotion to benefit the Wild West Multiple Sclerosis Walkabout (August 20<sup>th</sup>-22<sup>nd</sup>), an event which helps benefit those who are stricken by this disease. During the drive students, staff and faculty members pitched in with a unified effort to assist in the effort with a total of over $3,200 dollars were donated.</p>
<p>The Wild West Multiple Sclerosis Walkabout is a 50 mile 3 day walk along the trails of Fort Collins. Each walker is to raise a minimum of $750 through sponsorships. The IBMC team of walkers includes: Tom Goehring, Hideo Matsushita, Rick Jennings and Paul Anderson. <p>Tom Goehring the Director of Technology Services at IBMC, has a direct interest in this foundation. His son Jonathan was stricken with MS several years ago. Jonathan has received several scholarships directly from the Center for Neurorehabilitation Services CNS Foundation, a beneficiary of this fundraiser.</p>

<p><strong>Wild West MS Walkabout &amp; Multiple Sclerosis</strong> <strong>Information</strong><strong>:</strong></p>
<p>The proceeds of the fundraiser Wild West MS Walkabout will be divided with 20% going to the support the local research and wellness programs of the Colorado Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS). Another 20% will support the Rocky Mountain MS Center. The mission of the Rocky Mountain MS Center is to help people living with MS and their families lead a quality life by providing individualized care, support, education and research.</p>
<p>The remaining 60% will go directly to people in need who live with MS providing items including medical equipment, environmental modifications, ramps, and mobility devices as well as therapy services not covered by other sources</p>
<p>Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system (CNS). The CNS consists of the brain, spinal cord, and the optic nerves.  Colorado has one of the highest prevalence rates of multiple sclerosis in the country. One in every 580 Coloradoans lives with MS. In fact, MS is ten times more prevalent in Colorado than it is in the South and the most commonly diagnosed neurological disease in adults ages 20-50. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Institute of Business and Medical Careers (IBMC) welcomes Kevin Gizinski as a new <em>Admissions Representative</em> at the new Longmont Campus.</p>
<p>Kevin comes to IBMC with twenty years experience in sales and customer service.  He has held positions which include: <em>Regional Sales Representative</em> for Spectrum Salon Consultants, an <em>Admissions Representative </em>for Westwood  College, and as <em>Sales Representative</em> for the Shane Company.  Kevin has a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.</p>
<p>In his new position Kevin’s responsibilities will entail interviewing and recommending prospective students for admission into IBMC programs of study. This includes the duties of evaluating and following-up with inquiries in addition to gaining referrals. His primary duties will involve enrolling and retaining students and to meet budget expectations.  Additionally, he will be involved in organizing and coordinating admissions events which include open house and orientations.  IBMC is pleased to welcome Kevin as the newest addition to the Longmont campus team.</p>

<p>Enjoy a spa-like experience through a variety of massage modalities such as:  Swedish, neuromuscular, deep tissue, and the IBMC signature massage.  Other specialty massages offered at the clinic will be: Prenatal/neonatal, sports massage, hot stone/ hydrotherapy, reflexology and chair massages.  Every experience will be tailored to fit each individual client’s needs. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Institute of Business and Medical Careers (IBMC) congratulates faculty member Rick Jennings who has been promoted to the <em>Lead Business Instructor</em> at the new Longmont campus.  His position will be effective September 20<sup>th</sup>, 2010.</p>
<p>Rick has been an instructor at IBMC for over 10 years teaching paralegal courses as well as English, business and marketing classes.  Rick is an <em>Attorney</em> with a Juris Doctor from Empire College in Santa Rosa, CA. and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wyoming.  He has practiced law in California and as a <em>Paralegal</em> in Colorado.</p>
<p>Rick will be instrumental in leading IBMC’s instructor team and in guiding our paralegal and business program students to success at the new Longmont campus. He will be a part of the exciting start up of the new branch campus in Longmont.</p>

<p>Jarrod is a degreed IBMC graduate of the Allied Health Medical Assisting program. He has held positions within the United States Navy from a <em>Leading 2</em><sup><em>nd</em></sup><em> Class Hospital Corpsman</em> to an <em>Integrated Environmental &amp; Safety Analyst at NORAD</em> and <em>Watch Specialist at NNMC</em>.  Additionally, he has held positions as a <em>Fire Fighter</em> for the town of Eaton and as a <em>Lead Medical Assistant </em>at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley.  He holds both military and civilian education and training certificates ie: Registered Medical Assistant,  CPR/ 1st Aid Instructor, Emergency Medical Technician,  FEMA Professional Development Series certified, NIMS Certified, Naval and numerous Norad-Northcom certificates.</p>
<p>Jarrod will offer in-depth knowledge and a great variety of medical and emergency preparedness experience to the Allied Health department and students at IBMC.</p>
