Ice Miller LLP Secures Top Spot in National Publication for Number of Female Equity Partners

Indianapolis, June 3, 2009 – Ice Miller LLP has been recognized by The American Lawyer magazine as part of the publication's first Women in Law Firms study. Ice Miller reported the highest percentage of female equity partners – 27.3 percent – among the 180 firms of the Am Law 200 who submitted data. The Firm also ranked fifth in the category of women partners with 26.9 percent. Ice Miller was the only Indiana-based law Firm recognized in the article. "Ice Miller's heritage is built on a long-standing commitment to the principles of fairness and equal access," stated Byron Myers, chief managing partner. During the 1970s, Ice Miller was one of the first major firms in the state to elect a woman to partnership and the first major firm in the state to vote a minority female into partnership. Ice Miller Partner Recognized by the Indiana Supreme Court

Mary Larimore was elected to the Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure for the Indiana Supreme Court in 1999 and completed her service at the end of 2008. Chief Justice Randall Shepard said, "Mary has dedicated many long hours to this committee. It is obvious that she is committed to serving the Court and her fellow attorneys by making sure Indiana has clear and understandable rules. She truly left her mark of professionalism by helping to shape rules ranging from parenting time guidelines to evidence."

The Indiana Supreme Court recently acknowledged Mary, an Ice Miller partner and co-chair of the Drug and Device Practice Group, for her years of service as a member and chair of the committee. The Supreme Court Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure was created by the Court to conduct a continuous study of the Indiana Rules of Procedure and other rules as directed by the Supreme Court. The committee is charged with reporting recommendations and proposed amendments to the Court in order to promote simplicity in procedure, just determination of litigation, and elimination of unjustified expense and delay.

Ice Miller Ranks in National Survey of Private Equity Law Firms: Only Indiana Firm Recognized

Indianapolis, May 15, 2009 – Ice Miller LLP has been recognized as the 34th most active law firm in the nation based on the number of private equity and venture capital funds worked on for general partners and limited partners that had a final close in 2008. The ranking appears in the May 2009 issue of the Private Equity Analyst, a publication of Dow Jones. Closing a total of 43 deals in 2008, Ice Miller was the only Indiana firm on the ranking and was ranked 12th in the Midwest.

Ice Miller was also recognized as the 49th most active law firm in the country by number of funds based on the number of private equity or venture capital deals negotiated and closed in 2008. Closing a total of 47 deals in 2009, Ice Miller was again the only firm in Indiana to secure a spot and was ranked 18th in the Midwest.

"The ranking validates our work in the private equity industry for the last 25 years," stated John Thornburgh, co-chair of Ice Miller's Business Services Group. "We're pleased to be the most active law firm in Indiana and of the expansion of our reach in the Midwest."
