Plans for the 6,000-seat, 200,000-square-foot arena named after Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula, who graduated from Penn State, were formally approved late last week by the Penn State Board of Trustees. Pegula, in September 2010, donated $88 million to his alma mater to finance the construction of the rink and to help the Nittany Lions create a NCAA Division I men's and women's hockey program. The donation was the largest private gift ever made by a Penn State alumnae in the school's history.

Through the No.1 Icers' (5-0) first five games, two goalies have split playing time. A third will be getting his first chance between the pipes in Penn State's game this Friday. No one has locked down the goalie position for Penn State this season. Over the course of five games, sophomore Matt Madrazo and freshman PJ Musico have split time. When the team travels to No. 10 Rhode Island (7-3) this weekend, another freshman, Tim Carr, will get a start.
