To become a veterinarian, most students will go through four years of college and four years of veterinary school. This is twice the amount of schooling a typical college graduate must go through and it can be very expensive. When I first created it, one of the dreams I had for Ichabod Ink was that it would provide financial support to veterinary students. This week, we helped our first student.

What I like best about my role at Ichabod Ink is the chance to visit veterinarians in their hospitals and see what they are up to. I must admit, even though I am a veterinarian, I’m often surprised with what I find. Veterinarians are doing amazing things everyday to help animals.

It’s hard to believe that only months ago Ichabod Ink was just an idea – an idea that came to me while I was sharing my book in school classrooms. I met a lot of kids and teens that were just like me. I was 11 years old when I decided I wanted to be a veterinarian and today’s classrooms have a lot of future veterinarians with the exact same aspirations. So, I decided to create a web community for all of you.

These are popular events attracting thousands of visitors because there are so many things to do. Visitors can look for buried bones, participate in teddy bear surgery, visit petting zoos, dress like a surgeon, do a physical exam on a pony, and guess how many fleas are in a jar. And of course there are animals everywhere.
