Last spaces for Mont Blanc

If you're looking for an early season ascent of Mont Blanc, we've two final spaces: 20-26 June (1 space), 4-10 July (4 spaces), and 11-17 July (1 space). After that it's late July to early September dates that still have space. It's a busy year for us, with an improved itinerary containing 3 nights half board in mountain huts to maximise your acclimatisation and summit chances.

SKI MONT BLANC  |  4810M

Ski tour to the roof of the Alps, via the Grands Mulets route, to ski down the North Face of Mont Blanc. Typically you will descend as far as the Plan de l'Aiguille, a vertical drop of 2500m!!!

The next date with availability is 25-30 May 2025, and the course includes Chamonix accommodation, IFMGA guiding, and the mountain hut on Mont Blanc. It's a lot more fun to ski down, than walk down, so spare a thought for those climbing the peak in the summer months...

TOUBKAL  |  MOROCCO

Ascend the highest peak in North Africa, situated in the Moroccan Atlas Mountains, close to Marrakesh, this is a brilliant half term escape, and we've got just 4 spaces on the trip running 24-31 May 2025.

It's a hard trek, rather than a climb, so is also suitable if you've got adventurous children you wish to take, who are aged over 14 at the time of the trip, and who are used to big days trekking in the mountains.

ALPINE INTRO  |  CHAMONIX

Kick start your Alpine climbing career, with our popular Chamonix based Alpine Intro course, which culminates in the ascent of a 4000m peak, often Gran Paradiso in North Italy. Course price includes all guiding and Chamonix accommodation, as well as a night in a mountain hut.

There's so much to adapt to climbing in the Alps, to keep you safe on glaciers, yet not carrying too much kit and learning to move efficiently and using short roping techniques. Next dates; 29 June - 5 July, & 13-19 July.

ROCK CLIMBING  |  UK

A weekend of rock climbs and roped scrambles, based in the Lake District, instructed by our MCI / WMCI team. These are brilliant preparation for those planning more technical summer Alpine climbs, such as Matterhorn or Eiger.

Develop rope work, movement skills on steep ground, and technical skills on anchors, belays, abseils, lowers, etc, that are essential for major Alpine routes, and for personal climbing. Dates; 24-25 May, 14-15 June, 12-13 July.

MONTE ROSA  |  ITALY

Enjoy a week of 4000m peak bagging, in a hut-to-hut week in the mountains on the Italian-Swiss border, in the Monte Rosa massif. During the week you can typically ascend 5 to 10 summits, with some days taking in multiple peaks along the frontier crest.

Each night you stay in amazing mountain huts, including the highest hut in the Alps, the Margherita on the summit of Signalkuppe (Punta Gnifetti). Next dates; 22-28 June or 28 Jun - 4 July.

It's always been a favourite trip, and this year is no exception. Most weeks are full or very limited availability now, so it this dream is still on your bucketlist, it's time to buckle in for the ride, and to get signed up ASAP. It's a harder climb than most people expect, but you maximise your chances by acclimatising ascending Gran Paradiso 4061m first, before Mont Blanc 4810m itself, link

Alpine summer approaches...

We've been staring into the crystal ball of what the Alpine summer conditions will look like. The winter has seen really variable weather, with the snow / rain limit often above 2000m, so already we're expecting early summer conditions to be good with slightly less snow cover than last year, which should make June and July early season conditions good, and major peaks like Matterhorn and Eiger possible earlier than last summer. Why? It's flexible which 4000m peaks you climb, the mountain huts are awsome, the food is great, the views are just epic, and you spend the whole week in the mountains, away from the bustle of the Alpine valleys. Alps training - Lakes rock

Success in the Alps is all down to your training and preparation beforehand. One of the most popular ways people use is to attend one of our Lake District based roped scrambles and rock climbing weekends, led my MCI instructors for two days to build your ropework and climbing skills, especially your efficient movement on step ground. Cracking tale - Koflach explosion

We'd been having a chat with a client about their choice of boots for the Alps. They wanted to use their faithful old (link) plastics, and true to form they exploded on their next training hike. A cautionary tale for anyone, but we're really of the opinion that B2's are ideal for Alpine summer climbs, unless it is exceptionally cold or unseasonably snowy. Read more here, link
