We get it — you have a lot to do. There’s no time to waste, and we want to help you get the icons and illustrations you need without slowing you down.

That’s why we are introducing shortcuts that make it super easy to download or copy icons, just by using your keyboard!

Here’s how it works: When searching on Iconfinder, we present a handful of keyboard shortcuts that can help you quickly grab the content you need, without too much clicking around.

Downloading

The keyboard shortcuts work when hovering icons & illustrations. For example, in order to download an icon from your search results, simply hover over the icon, and hit the D key. The icon will be downloaded in the last format you used. If you prefer a more specific approach to downloading, you can use S and P to download SVG and PNG respectively.

Copying to clipboard

In a similar fashion, you can use the ⌥ (MacOS) modifier with S and P keys to copy specific formats. So ⌥ + S and ⌥ + P to copy SVG and PNG respectively. For Windows users, that‘s Alt + S and Alt + P.

It’s as easy as that!

In fact, we hear a lot of people who use icons to design websites and apps talk about how it can be a challenge to keep their icons consistent. The size, the line width, style, the colors — they all have to match so that your design doesn’t end up looking like a hodge-podge of half-baked ideas.

That’s why we’re launching new ways for you to find closely related icons in the same style.

All content on Iconfinder is grouped in families with multiple packs. Each pack then has multiple icons (or illustrations). The goal with families is to group everything from the same designer into one large consistent group. (I’ll use icons in the examples below, but it will work the same way for illustrations and 3D illustrations.)

When clicking an icon from search results, you’ll now see a new row of related icons. And below those related icons there’s a little link that says “See all icons from Leto”. Clicking this takes you to the Leto family and you’ll get to see all the icons from this family.

The row of icons below are related results from the same family based on one or more tags. In this example, the tags are “laptop”, “student” and “woman”. You can see that all icons match one or more of these tags.

There are a few other ways to get to a family from an icon. If you click an icon in the new row above, you’ll get to the details page for that particular icon. On this page, you’ll find previews of a chunk of icons from this family. There’s also a little search field on the right side that lets you search inside this family only.

There’s a great chance of you working with tools like Figma, Miro, or Powerpoint. When moving an icon or illustration into one of these apps from Iconfinder you have to download the file, find it on your computer and drag it into the app.

Now, with the new Copy to clipboard feature, you can skip this step. Just click the Copy to clipboard button and paste it into your favorite app. When clicking the button, you’ll use credit like when downloading. Likewise, anything that is copied this way will show up in your download history.

There are two limitations at the moment: The Copy to clipboard is disabled for large PNGs so you don’t move too much data into the clipboard. And Firefox users will only have this feature available for SVG — we are working on an update so everyone can use this feature.

Simple usage overview

First and foremost, we wanted a way to mediate the most important data in the most simple way we could. The credit balance history gives you three quick observations:

• A timeline of the current subscription cycle
• Credit balance at the beginning of the cycle
• Credit balance to date

These observations make it easy to see the pace at which credits are being spent, up until the next credit refill, signified by the last date on the graph. The graph is live and updates daily, which helps to keep track of any changes made to the activity or the current Pro plan.

A quick reminder about credits: you and your team spend them to download premium content on Iconfinder. Downloading free icons or illustrations doesn’t use any credits. Also, you don’t use any additional credits if you or your team members download the same premium product within 30 days. You can find more information about credits in this article.

Stay updated on changes in usage

In the following report, we made it possible to track how many credits have been spent and compare it to a previous period of time. You can adjust this period for a more fine-grain comparison.

Knowing how many credits are required for your team on a monthly basis can help indicate whether you are on the right plan. The growth percentage helps with evaluation. Maybe you have had significant growth since the last period, so you can not be entirely sure whether your total will be representative for the next 4 weeks.

Understand the changes visually

The growth percentage can be a helpful indicator, but it doesn’t do a great job at showing just how that growth applies. We made sure to visualize in detail how the credit usage has changed over time.

The daily breakdown helps you make informed decisions. Use the date as a reference for any particular objective on that day or time period. The “previous usage” gives you a glimpse into the past. For a weekly period, you can compare this Tuesday to last Tuesday. With a 4 weeks period, we compare Mar 18th to Feb 18th. This level of detail can help uncover a wide array of insights that could be important factors to your team.

Make informed decisions with averages

Working in a team might require getting more hands aboard. Knowing the average credits used by a member gives an indication of how much room is needed in your current plan to add new members. This average is measured as the median of active members. An active member is defined as having used at least one credit in the observed period.

Insights about your team members

To help with tracking the usage, the Team members table gives a more granular view of your power users. The table adjusts with the rest of the usage reporting as you change the selected period of time. As an additional feature, you can click on any user to get their download history.

Like everyone else, we are watching what’s going on in Ukraine in horror. And we want to help as much as we can. Right now, there is a lack of quality content that can help reporters and others illustrate the conflict. We take it as our duty to help Ukrainians, reporters, bloggers, and others who need to communicate the events happening effectively and we ask for your talent and help with this.

Like most tech companies, we had to redefine how we work and connect in 2021.

We had a bit of practice in 2020, as we started working from home in spring that year. The foundation we set in 2020 for organising our remote work processes really helped to have smooth sailing in 2021. We stuck to our daily standup routine, planned work in short sprints, and moved a massive chunk of our creative work to Figma, Whimsical, and Dropbox Paper, ensuring easy access, transparency, and a good collaboration experience for everyone.

However, besides having great remote work practices, we quickly realised how important the social connection is for maintaining a good team’s health and smooth collaboration.

While in 2020 we were meeting regularly for social activities, right from the start of 2021, we were faced with a lockdown and multiple restrictions, which meant that we could not meet in person for more than 6 months. We had to look for new creative ways to connect with each other beyond just work tasks.

Here’s a bunch of things that worked well for us to keep the team spirit during the lockdown:

• Friday Hangouts. We introduced a weekly video call, where 2 or 3 colleagues had to present something they were passionate or curious about. Our topics ranged from aquariums to Counter-Strike, and we even had a live session of cake-making, where team members chose the toppings of a cake made in real-time by our colleague Bianka. What a way to wind down and finish the work week!

• Quizbreaker. We enjoyed this fun, personalised weekly trivia that helped us learn a lot about each other. And we awarded the winner at the end.
• Mental wellbeing day. At some point in spring, after several months of restrictions, we could all feel the toll it took on us. We decided it was a time for a day off, with an intention to take care of our body and mind — going for a long walk or a run, reading a book, or just preparing nice meals and taking multiple naps. Whatever made any of us feel relaxed and grounded.
• Care packages. To boost the spirit, we sent our team members little parcels that we named “care packages”. It included some healthy (and not so healthy) snacks, good wine, and a bouquet of tulips to decorate our home offices.
• FigmAdventure. You know how we all love Figma. So we just had to try this fun game (all based in Figma) with the team.

• Satisfaction surveys and 1–1 meetings. Throughout the year, we sticked to a regular schedule of our employee satisfaction surveys (we use Workday Peakon) and quartely 1–1’s to have a solid platform for both direct and anonymous conversations about all-things-work, as well as our experiences working remotely.
• Team retreat. When it was finally safe to do so, we went for a two-day team retreat in a beautiful historic castle close to Copenhagen. We mixed work sessions with fun games and long dinners.

This past year was quite different from what we had been used to, but it gave us an opportunity to find creative approaches to how we grow together as a team.

Now we look ahead and hope for a fun and hopefully a bit more hybrid 2022.
