The cemetery where Whitney Houston was laid to rest has been closed to the public indefinitely.

Officials at the Fairview Cemetery in New Jersey made the decision following a series of traffic problems resulting from grieving fans wanting to pay their respects to the singer, who was buried there on Sunday.

Police Captain Cliff Auchter said: “It’s a private property, and it’s up to them to make that decision. It was done in light of the overcrowding that occurred.

“The cemetery is a maze of very small roads, so if two cars come face to face, you have a Mexican standoff.”

Those with relatives buried in the cemetery will not be affected by the ban, and a round-the-clock police presence will remain in place for the foreseeable future.

Capt. Aucher added: “I don’t have any idea as to when that will change. It’s being evaluated day to day [by the cemetery].”

Despite the traffic problems, there have been no incidents at the site.

He added: “It’s been relatively quiet.”

Whitney was found dead in the bath of her Beverly Hills hotel room on February 11. She was 48 years old.

The ‘I Look To You’ singer’s “going home” service had taken place on Saturday and stars including Oprah Winfrey, Mariah Carey, Clive Davis and Kevin Costner – Whitney’s co-star in movie ‘The Bodyguard’ – were among the mourners.

Kevin paid tribute to the singer in a moving eulogy at the funeral, telling her fans to remember “the sweet miracle” of the singer.

He said: “I urge us all inside and outside, across the nation and around the world, to dry our tears, suspend our sorrow and perhaps our anger just long enough, just long enough to remember the sweet miracle of Whitney … So off you go Whitney, off you go, escorted by an army of angels to your heavenly father and when you sing before him don’t you worry, you’ll be good enough.”

Riri stunned us all by releasing two “love duets” with her ex, Chris Brown.

The shocker came as she ran riot before the Brits award at London’s O2 arena – demanding a private dining space and more booze in her dressing room. Before she hit the stage, the Barbadian star’s voice could be heard on a remix of Brown’s track “Turn Up The Music” singing ‘I love you baby’ and ‘ you make me laugh’. On the other hand Brown was more explicit about his feelings on Riri’s hit Birthday Cake, as the 22 year old sings: ‘girl I wanna f***you right now. Been a long time, I’ve been missing your body.’

Should Chris’s girlfriend be worried?

Well, the singer’s girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, hit the beach with him in Miami over the weekend – where he was pictured being attacked by seagulls.

The model is now said to living with the singer, amid claims Brown, 22, is spending more time with his ex Riri after he was spotted at the star’s 23rd birthday party on Valentine’s Day.

RiRi and Brown have also been spotted partying at the same album together in Hollywood with reports that the diva is on a mission to get back her ex-lover.
A source told me: ‘They have probably hooked up no more than half a dozen times in the past year.

‘Rihanna doesn’t care if she were to get public backlash if they were to reconcile, she is the one calling the shots now, which she likes.’
It’s a good thing Karrueche doesn’t seem to be the jealous type as her boyfriend Spent time in the studio with his ex!
Only time will tell if this will end in tears! Watch this space.

Still relatively new to television, Danny Miller won his first major role in 2007, when he played Kyle Brown in the long-running BBC children’s show Grange Hill. In 2008 he landed a prominent role, being the second actor to portray Aaron Livesy on the ITV soap opera Emmerdale. Sadly Danny has decided to leave the show and told me that after 3 years although he has loved every minute of it, he has itchy feet and wants try something new.
Danny’s father Vince Miller is a close family friend and I have worked with him for many years in the industry. Vince is in my opinion one the best compares’ in the country – he is a true professional. Vince often talked about Danny over the years and I know is very proud of his achievements so far.

After the death of Gavin Blyth at only 41 who was the TV producer in charge of Emmerdale, Danny along with his good friend Daniel Jillings set up a new charity ‘Once upon a smile’ which was founded in 2011. They have already been recognized throughout the UK as a source of support for families who have suffered the loss of a parent or child from a long term or terminal illness. The charity have already held a few events including a children’s Santa Day in December but are having their official launch hosting an exclusive dinner at the Hilton hotel in Manchester on February 18th, which will be sponsored by OK! Magazine and attended by celebrities from Emmerdale, Coronation Street, Hollyoaks and Eastenders.

Danny is also one of the celebrities featured in a new documentary ‘Celebrity Charities’ made by Paramount Media productions and produced by my son, Alex Morgan which highlights the hard work celebrities put into helping their chosen charities that is often overlooked in the media – along with Sir Cliff Richard OBE, Denise Welch and Willie Morgan.

I had an informal chat with Danny and he told me that now he has left Emmerdale he would be putting any spare time he has into raising awareness of the charity.

Sensation in the art world: At the Madrid Prado Museum experts have discovered a “twin sister” of the famous “Mona Lisa”. Here it is with the original in the workshop of Leonardo da Vinci.

The image has been hung on a wall in the Madrid art gallery for years, “its value was not recognized as yet”, said Miguel Falomir, head of Italian painting of the Prado Museum. It has only now been found during restoration work, and it seems that the work arose in parallel to the original.

The painter was likely Francesco Melzi, who belonged to the most important pupils of da Vinci. The painting has been called “Mona Lisa of Prado”, you’ve had so far associated the Flemish school. During the restoration, it has been found that this had been a mistake.

The experts discovered that the black background of the copy is only subsequently been applied. Including the Prado experts discovered the appearance of an Italian landscape as she is seen also on the original.

Science confirms simultaneous emergence

The copy is almost the same size as the original “Mona Lisa” and arose also at the beginning of the 16th century. With the help of infrared rays, it has been found that the painter had made similar corrections in his work like Da Vinci to the original. This shows that both works were created simultaneously.

The copy is better preserved than the original. Their discovery would allow the art experts to gain new details about the making of the original. The “Mona Lisa” by da Vinci is located in the Louvre in Paris. It is in the Italian original “La Gioconda” (joyous) and Lisa del Giocondo was named after the Florentinerin.

The origin of the copy was confirmed also by the Louvre, the Spanish news agency EFE reported. The image will be presented officially on 21 February.

Two manipulative and hypocritical twin sisters – the Shannon twins from America, have rocked the Celebrity big brother house!
Some very strange characters have been in the Big Brother house over the years but the twins are in my opinion are the most conceited housemates ever. After becoming public enemy number one with viewers after their fight night with Denise Welch, Karissa and Kristina Shannon were still arrogant enough to admit that they believe they can win the show. The Playboy twins seemed unaware that they ware not favourites in the house and were way behind retired Welsh rugby stars Gareth Thomas and X Factor reject Frankie Cocozza.

Their behaviour is unacceptable – bullying Denise Welch which as you can see from their picture’s was just one big farce and accusing Frankie of sexually harassing them telling Big Brother that they are certain the 19 year old wants to sleep with them stating that he has got the hugest crush on us, obviously he wants to bang us and then she added that he is disgusting.

Denise Welch may be riding an emotional rollercoaster with her fellow contestants in the house, but here on the outside her buddies and the British public are still there for her. Speaking at the National Television Awards red carpet, Jane McDonald told of the pride that the Loose Women gang have for the 53-year-old actress and added that they just want to go in there and get her out now, but at least she’s standing up for herself. Support was also forthcoming from Carol Vorderman, ready to welcome Denise back with open arms and a big hug.
Speaking from my personal opinion knowing Denise now for over 20 years I would like to say that Denise Welch is one the the kindest ladies I know, she hasn’t got a bad bone in her body and has worked tirelessly for many years raising money for her devoted charities – I am very proud to say she is God Mother to my daughter Jessica who adores her.

Richard Fleeshman is and actor/singer/songwriter and the son of former Brookside and Coronation Street actress Sue Jenkins and actor/director David Fleeshman and has two sisters, Emily and Rosie who are also actresses.
I have known the family for many years and have done many charity events in the past where they would come and support me. As a young boy I remember Sue coming down in the daytime during set up to a particular music event I did every year and would set Richard to work helping us out with whatever needed doing at that time – he never complained just got on with it and always with a smile. He was always such a polite young man, a credit to his parents and a few years later at my wedding in 2005 he was a guest along with his family but also did me the honor of singing at the evening party – Elton John’s rendition of ‘Your Song’.
In 2002 Richard joined the cast of Coronation Street and played the role of Craig Harris that really catapulted him up there in the spotlight and his last episode was aired in October 2006. He also won Soapstar Superstar in 2006 and won £200,000 for his chosen Charity, The Kirsty Appeal which I remember well as Sue would text me to support Richard which of course I did! Richard’s true passion is singing/song writing and he signed a major record deal with Universal Records in 2007 and then completed writing his debut album – In 2008 he was invited by Sir Elton John to join him on his summer stadium tour – it doesn’t get much bigger than that!

In June 2010, Richard joined the company of Legally Blonde in London, taking over from Duncan James in the role of Warner and currently he stars in Ghost The Musical playing the role of Sam Wheat (played by Patrick Swayze in the film) He finished his role in the West End on 12th January before moving to New York to star in the new Broadway production in March which his Dad had told me a few weeks ago when had he had found out!
I went to London last week to see Richard’s last show with the Fleesman’s and a few close friends – the show is an emotional pull on the heartstrings anyway but alongside the fact it was Richard’s last night we were all in tears at the end as they took their bow to a full standing ovation and I noticed even the ushers were in tears.
We have all planned to fly to over to New York for Richard’s opening night in April – can’t wait!
Throw away your new gym membership, ditch the New Year’s resolutions to not watch so much trashy TV and forget about your promise to spend more time with friends and family – Celebrity Big Brother is back and it’s here to take over your January.
As the house welcomes one of my best friends, Denise Welch along with some other ‘fun’ characters I think we are going to see one of the best yet!
Natalie Cassidy had to perform a task as soon as she entered the house and traditionally, housemates who have to do the first secret task do quite well but I think Denise will have a few tricks up her sleeve. I was excited when Denise told me she was going into the CBB house because she’s not going to hold back if someone gets on her nerves and she’s a very funny lady. Not only that, but she’s been on the showbiz circuit for over twenty years, and believe me she has some great gossip.

I recently spent a week in the Bahamas with her when we bid for a villa in a charity auction with a few other friends and just being herself she is pure entertainment – I laughed for a week!
It was nice to her close friend Pammie there to support her going in to the house and also fellow ‘Loose Women’ Andrea Mclean who I met recently in London studios when the ladies were filming a show – I couldn’t believe the hard work that actually goes into every show!
I know Denise was dreading going into the house as was her eldest son Matthew who told me he wasn’t too keen for his mum to go in – I suppose being a protective son as they are very close in case of back lash as the media can be cruel, however ‘Little Louis’ as I call him, Denise’s youngest son was very excited.
I told Denise I thought she would do well – just to be herself whom she always is and most of all enjoy the peace and quiet and not having to take 10,000 phone calls a day!

VOTE DENISE!!!!

BY EMILY SPAIN

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg got snubbed at his interracial faith breakfast Friday morning.
The missing guests?
Some of the city’s key Muslim leaders — who hoped to send a message by not dining-in.

The Muslims chose not to attend because of reports that hit the headlines in Augustclaiming the NYPD is eavesdropping on businesses, mosques and taxi drivers. The group’s frustrated because it claims the mayor hasn’t done anything.

The NYPD insists it has done nothing wrong, but some Muslim leaders disagree and didn’t come to the breakfast to stand up for their civil rights. Here’s Nihad Awad from the Council on American-Islamic Relations:

“To be engaged in wholesale ethnic and religious profiling that’s wrong… The mayor when he knew about this he should have condemned it, he should have investigated it. The leaders in the community there communicated with his office and brought him a letter respectfully declining the invitation because it is an opportunity to send a message that this is wrong.”

15 leaders in the Muslim community signed this letter, which says:

“We believe with heartfelt conviction that during times when a community’s rights are being flagrantly violated its leaders cannot in good conscience appear at a public gathering with the government official who is ultimately responsible and smile for the cameras as if all is well, when we know full well that it is not.”

But a writer for the New York Daily News suggests the Muslims’ breakfast boycott was a big mistake, calling the group’s claim a “big misrepresentation.”

“…the NYPD’s counterterrorism unit has done no more than use census data to develop a portrait of Muslim New York and then follow leads, some sent the city’s way from abroad via the CIA, when they demanded investigation. Many a plot has been disrupted by this type of perfectly proper nonintrusive vigiliance [sic]… The next letter from the boycotters ought to be one of polite apology. We won’t hold our breath.”

Mayor Bloomberg continues to defend local authorities work in the city and told CBS New York:

“The city’s police department has worked very hard to bring crime down and prevent terrorism… We’ve done it in a ways that is consistent with making sure that we obey the law and don’t target anybody.”

But a former FBI director told CNN, even if city officials think they did nothing wrong, they still have to address the issue.

“Obviously, it’s a public relations almost nightmare for the city, they have to undo that… Depending how they handle it, depending on what happens in the subsequent investigations now will determine really what kind of relationship they have in the community, but they absolutely need the cooperation of the community.”

The Associated Press reports Mayor Bloomberg did not directly address the boycott at the breakfast, but did say “We have to keep our guard up, but if we don’t work together we won’t have our own freedoms.”

Actress Denise Welch and her husband actor Tim Healy have been close family friends for as long as I can remember. Famous for his role in Auf Weidersehen Pet I remember as a youngster Tim’s renditions of the old football songs as he used to come over to the family house to go to watch some of the matches with Dad when his beloved Newcastle were playing at Old Trafford. Denise famous for her role in Coronation Street where she played the character Natalie Barns, landlady in the soap’s public house, The Rovers Return is more recently seen on the panel of Loose Women as well as trying her hand in the world of professional ice dancing in the hit show ‘Dancing on Ice’ with her lovely partner Matt Evers and then went on to do the dancing on ice tour.

In 2001 I started an events company with my very good friend Julie Arnold with a mutual goal to help raise money for children’s charities. Denise wanted us to help some of the charities she was patron of to raise some much needed funds and so together we came up with the idea of putting on an annual spectacular celebrity/charity event hosted by Denise & Tim and held the first one in 2002, themed Ice Fantasy. The main charity that benefits from these events is ‘The Gem Appeal’ a charity close to Denise and Tim’s heart and 10 years on it is now one of the biggest celebrity/charity events in the UK. I did my last event in November 2006 before I moved to Portugal to live for a few years. The event is still run by Entertainment Today which Julie carried on with after I left and this years event is on the 26th November at G-Mex in Manchester and is themed ‘The Magical Ice Fantasy Ball’’ I am proud to have been part of creating an event which has raised hundred’s of thousands of pounds.

It would have made a great TV reality show something similar to ‘Big Brother’ had there been a camera crew there, but probably a good job as you know what they say…what happens on holiday stays on holiday!!

Actor and singer Howard Keel, who played Clayton Farlow in the mega TV series Dallas which is to return to our screens next year had put his name to Europe’s biggest celebrity golf charity event here in the UK ‘The Howard Keel Golf Classic’. After his very sad death in 2002, Don Felder formerly from the legendary band ‘The Eagles’ and the co writer of the world famous song, Hotel California took over as the tournament’s host and the event celebrated its 25th year a few weeks ago at Carden Park Hotel near Chester with over 50 celebrities’ flying in from all over the world to help support this prestigious event that has raised two million pounds for charities.

The event this year was in aid of the NSPCC and Christies and the evening’s celebrity cabaret was as usual world class including Tony Christie who blasted out amongst many his hit song, ‘Show me the way to Amarillo’ and top of the bill was Don Felder himself who played guitar and sang most of The Eagles hits, which brought the audience to its feet.

The event has been run for the past 25 years by my Dad, ex-Manchester United and Scottish International legend, “Willie Morgan’ and was going to be his last but at the request of so many celebrities’ and regular guests he has decided to pass the event down to me as I am very well established as an events organiser and was recently asked by Sir Cliff Richard OBE to run a charity event for him to help him raise some much needed funds for the Algarve charity he supports.

We will run next year’s event, as a father and daughter team and then Dad will finally hand over the reins to me the following year.

‘I am looking forward to working with Dad over the next few months, but as we have never worked on the same event together before it should be an interesting time!”

The following is an article written by Ryan Lawler for gigaom.com in September 2011, the content was so riveting to ICU Online Ltd members, and as I keep getting asked about the future of web TV, I though the best solution would be to re-post Ryan’s excellently researched and written article here.

Enjoy:

The Summer Of Discontent: How Web TV has Changed | by Ryan Lawler

The unofficial end of summer has passed with the Labor Day weekend, and with it goes a three-month stretch of bad news for online video viewers:

Netflix announced and implemented a new pricing plan that increases the cost of DVD and streaming by as much as 60 percent

Starz walked away from contract negotiations with Netflix to renew its streaming deal, and its content will disappear after Feb. 28 next year

Hulu was put up for sale after receiving an unsolicited bid, and the possibility of an acquisition has raised serious questions about its business model

Meanwhile, Fox has implemented an eight-day window on Hulu and its own network site for viewers who aren’t subscribers to one of its pay TV distribution partners

In other words, the summer has marked a major pullback in the amount of content that is available, as well as a major change in the way it’s licensed, priced, accessed and paid for. But more importantly, it shows that traditional media companies have moved past experimentation mode and are finally formalizing business models around digital distribution.

The empire strikes back

If the past few years of success by upstart digital distributors like YouTube, Netflix and Hulu represented Act One in the story of how content moved online, we’re clearly moving into a second phase, where the incumbents assert their power and launch their own attacks in the battle for consumers’ attention.

For TV programmers, the main weapon in the fight has been TV Everywhere. The idea is that cable subscribers can watch streaming on demand content, so long as they log in and prove that they pay for the network that they’re trying to access. This has proven highly successful for networks like HBO, which has seen millions of downloads for its HBO Go iPad app.

While originally introduced to provide more value to cable subscribers by putting previously unavailable content online, the model is now being emulated by the broadcast networks. The first to do so is Fox, which is now requiring a pay TV login for next-day access to new episodes of its shows on Hulu and Fox.com. But ABC is also reportedly interested in doing the same, and other broadcasters are sure to follow.

Of course, when applied to cable shows, the TV Everywhere model has the effect of providing more value to paying customers. But for broadcast content, authentication ends up taking away access to shows that were previously available for free on an ad-supported basis. The issue is further complicated when not all distributors are on board, as is the case with Fox. Of all the pay TV operators, only Dish Network has committed to enabling authenticated access to Fox shows online — which means that the vast majority of cable and satellite customers today are no better off than those who don’t pay for TV.

The changing economics of digital content

At the same time that content players like Fox are building walls around their newest content, they’re also making it increasingly more expensive to license for digital distribution. The best example of this is Starz, which originally struck a three-year deal with Netflix pegged at around $25 to $30 million a year. Last week, it reportedly turned down $300 million a year for the same content.

Not only does the Starz example show how much more expensive streaming licenses have become in a very short period of time, but it also highlights a general pullback in the willingness of networks to make their content available online.

There’s a fear among Wall Street types that this increase in the cost of content will ultimately undermine the Netflix model — that Starz is just the first of many content providers that will demand more than Netflix and other online distributors are willing to pay. Unable to provide a compelling content package, these distributors will see their subscribers flee.

Netflix as modern-day cable network

What these fears overlook, however, is that Netflix has never been about providing the newest releases or most popular Hollywood movies. In a statement after the Starz non-renewal, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings reported that Starz content makes up just 6 percent of all viewing on it’s streaming service.

That’s because viewers don’t necessarily log into Netflix looking for a certain piece of content — about 60 percent of all Netflix viewing comes from click-throughs on movies that are recommended to subscribers. Even if Netflix isn’t able to offer up the latest release from Disney or Sony pictures, it will be able to recommend something they might want to watch instead.

In many ways, the Netflix model and content catalog isn’t terribly different from what you might expect to have seen on cable a few years ago. Netflix is no HBO, but it might be TBS: the channel that catches your attention when there’s nothing else good on TV. Let’s not forget: Basic cable networks survived, and even thrived, on old movies and syndicated TV shows long before they began making award-winning original programming of their own.

Digital revenues finally matter

Content producers and online distributors increasingly have a symbiotic relationship; on their earnings calls, executives from CBS, Disney and Viacom all acknowledged that revenues from digital licenses were providing a boost to their top and bottom lines. The amount that Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and others are contributing is still small relative to their overall businesses, but it’s finally real revenue, not the digital pennies that then-NBC chief Jeff Zucker famously lamented just a few years ago.

Furthermore, there are now more digital licensees than ever. Netflix has grown large enough to spend billions of dollars a year on streaming rights. Amazon is investing heavily to grow its own streaming library and compete with Netflix. Meanwhile, Dish Network and Apple — which have stood on the sidelines while others grew their subscription video-on-demand businesses — are both rumored to be rolling out their own Netflix competitors soon.

The big knock against online distributors to this point has been that they potentially cannibalize viewership from more traditional channels, but without paying the same in revenues. There’s still an imbalance in the amount of money online distributors contribute, but as DVD sales and broadcast ratings decline, it would be foolish for the content companies to destroy new nascent competitors that provide an important new revenue stream.

More choices, not fewer

There’s a tendency to question the viability of digital video providers, given the general pullback that we’re seeing from the networks. But this type of short-term view overlooks the fact that viewers have more content choices now than at any other point in the past.

It’s not like 30 years ago, when the local cable company was the only game in town, or 15 years ago, when satellite finally provided a viable alternative, or even five years ago, when AT&T and Verizon began offering up competitive IPTV services. The emergence of online distributors are creating even greater competition for viewer attention — and they’re doing so at competitive prices.

Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Instant Videos and other subscription video-on-demand service might not have all the same content that is available on broadcast, cable or satellite TV, but they’re not supposed to have it all. Their value proposition comes from providing a wide range of TV shows and movies, and a smart way to find new content of interest. And more entrants will soon emerge, soon offering up even more choice.

So what does the future hold?

Online viewers might lament the disappearance of certain TV shows and movies from their online destinations today, but the trend looks temporary to me. As more subscription and ad dollars move online, more premium broadcast and cable content will follow. The latest pullback, then, seems a minor bump in the road to an otherwise broader array of content available online.

More importantly, the success of digital distribution platforms means new and different content to choose from, beyond just what is syndicated and re-broadcast from network television. Hulu has been showing web originals for some time, and looks like it will continue to do so. Netflix made headlines when it announced it would exclusively license the Kevin Spacey-David Fincher series House of Cards to run on its streaming service instead of pay TV channels like HBO or Showtime. And YouTube is quietly building an empire of web original content, which it is expected to program into channels — basically building the online equivalent of a 21st century cable company.

In short, as viewers increasingly move online, there will be no shortage of content to choose from. In the same way that cable networks came into their own despite costs associated with syndicating broadcast content, Netflix, YouTube, Amazon and others will continue to grow — and continue to offer an alternative to the incumbent production and distribution networks.

Recently I have come across a few friends who have joined dating websites (this is new news in my circle). Many of my friends, especially those I met at uni have spent the majority of their adult lives searching for that dream job. Don’t worry this is going somewhere, trust me!

So you’re on a dating website, fingers crossed your ‘love story’ begins here. You upload your picture; scroll through Facebook to try and find one where you don’t look trollied and you actually look half decent (whilst doing this you find dreadful pictures your cousin has uploaded behind your back…you will deal with her later!). Right, you have a picture, now for the profile; name (selective in certain spellings; any Greeks out there will know that spelling Magdalena Constantinides is mind boggling to non Greeks, therefore it transfers on the page to Mags Stan), age (maybe knock a few numbers off?!), area of residence (be as vague as you can) and you create a username; your stuck between Sweetgirl88 and Iheartdiamonds11, you go with sweetgirl88 (don’t really wanna look like a gold digger). And finally you are asked what you’re looking for; sex and age range. You click on ‘not fussy’ (can’t be in 2011) and settle for 22-35 (big enough to find someone right?). Profile created.

Job hunting. You Google the career path you’d like to follow, starting with Journalist, moving on to Writer, and settling on Receptionist (all of the others you looked at are way out of your league, even with that 2:1). You find something half decent and spend hours fine tuning a cover letter (you want to demonstrate your writing skills after all) and open the CV you have created most fitting for this position. After submitting your application, the website asks you ‘Would you like to store your CV?’ You click yes and once again you are instructed to create a profile. See where I’m going here? No picture needed, however it does ask for your area of residence and what you’re looking for. Salary: you select the figure you dream of earning but suddenly come straight back to reality and remind yourself that Simon Cowell didn’t reach that amount of money till his 40’s. So you compromise and go for something a bit more realistic, done. Profile created.

It dawned on me that selling yourself is something we do on a daily basis, whether it is for a job or for a date. Is searching for the perfect man (sorry to bring him up again) just like searching for your dream job? The start up is the same. The outcome is the same feeling; pride, happiness and success…until you get 6 months in and you start spitting in your bosses tea and screaming at him because he left the toilet seat up for the fourth time that day!

It goes without saying, these things may start the same, they will run their course, sometimes it won’t be easy and sometimes you’ll be so grateful you have them, but everything happens for a reason, so roll with it!

Till next time…x

The similarity of the philosophical attitudes of Plato and Voltaire in respect to the former’s book ‘The Allegpry of the cave’ and the later book ‘The story of the Good Brahmin’ is that both books deal with the themes of knowledge of being made aware of things and the culture of ignorance in the context of the lack of awareness of the subject matter.

The differences in the philosophical attitudes of both authors in respect of the themes of knowledge and ignorance is that Plato outlines an imaginary situation in which people are deliberately prevented from having the opportunity to think for themselves and are presented with an illusionary depiction of reality which they accept as being actual reality in defiance to a different perspective posed by a person who has been freed and able to realize that his former prisoners of ignorance have been provided with an illusionary depiction of reality and informs his former colleagues that they are being deceived and present evidence to justify his claim which they refuse to accept because they have accepted their indoctrination as reality without realising this fact.

However in the case of ‘The story of the Good Brahmin’ by Voltaire. The depiction of knowledge and ignorance is presented differently from the case of the allegory of the cave. This is because a prosperous Indian who had the possibility to receive a spiritual education realises that despite his privilege, he admits that he is ironically and paradoxically ignorant because what he has learned does not helping answer why he basically exists as a human being and these puzzles and upset him.

In contrast, his neighbour who Voltaire describes as ignorant, bigoted, stupid and poor when faced with a religious question about her existence is unable to answer as she does not understand the question posed to her as her poverty and perhaps as a result of the denial of an education in such religious matters. She is presented as being happy to accept that she is ignorant without realising that she is ignorant of such matters pertaining to why she believes in her religious faith.

In conclusion both people who have limited knowledge in both books know that they have a limited understanding of reality and ask questions to find out more information about reality as they saw it. The people who were considered ignorant in both books as a consequence of their ignorance of reality, have beliefs that are limited to what was presented to them ‘willingly’ and ‘against their will’ by others that if they understood what that term against their will means in a dictatorship and in the poor Indian lady’s case under her undesirable social and economic circumstances relating to the cause of the poor Indian woman’s poverty which she is possibly unaware of in terms of the causes of her poverty is due to her ignorance which she is unaware of.

“When you’ve found the right person; even if you lost them to somebody else or if you’d never had them in the first place, you never stop loving them” Sheila O’ Flanagan

Just finished reading The Perfect Man by Sheila O’ Flanagan, I won’t give away the storyline or ruin it for anyone that hasn’t read it yet (you should read it girls!) but it has provoked me to write this. It seems to have taken some sort of lovey dovey power over me?!

So here goes…

Love hurts! Whether it’s love for a friend, family member or lover; when it’s good it’s good but when it’s good and it starts going bad it’s not good and when it’s bad and you can’t get good it’s bad. The expectations and stereotypes that we are surrounded with, give us – with the power of our imagination – unrealistic expectations. Don’t get me wrong here I’m not preaching, god knows I’m not perfect and we’ve all made mistakes in relationships, but recently I have seen how LOVE can make you foolish.

You meet the person of your dreams on an unplanned night out (you’re not up to it; you feel down about being single, don’t have anything to wear…blah blah blah!), you exchange numbers, start seeing each other more often (and when you do, you get the butterflies in your tummy); you go on dates, sleepovers and holidays together. Time goes by and you’re making progress as a couple, you say those three magic words to each other: I Love You and you love each other’s company too much. You talk about your future together, living together, marriage, children, growing old. And one day they turn around to you and tell you that something doesn’t feel right and you’re not ‘The One’. And that’s it.

So your world comes crashing down, you feel those feelings you always try and avoid; rejection, inadequacy and failure, along with disbelief and shock. Your heart is broken. You can’t see a light at the end of this tunnel. However there is light! Love made you fall for them and hurt can make you feel the opposite for them.

I have no doubt in my mind that you have all experienced this, it is part of life, growing up, experiences – learning from your mistakes and all that, what don’t kill you will make you stronger.

Now re-read the quote at the beginning of this – it makes no difference if you have found the right person and lost them or not. You love them still. Despite this, it is true that you will find the right person again, you won’t make the same mistakes, and you’ll no doubt tread more carefully the next time round. And the chances are it will happen again; you will feel those butterflies in your tummy once more and it will be when you least expect it (trust me I’ve seen it ;o)).

All of this make me question this feeling – love. Does it make us foolish and so irrational that we are entirely consumed by everything to do with it? Despite the fact that the feeling of being in love fills you with a high you can’t get from anything else. Or does it fill us with warmth with the knowledge of knowing that we are loved? Wherever you are in your life I’d like to believe that you’ve felt love of some sort and loved someone in one way or another. So embrace it!

Til next time… stay lovely! x

If there’s one thing I love most about music and since becoming an Fm radio DJ Host; its meeting great artist with a fantastic message in their music as well as drive and aspiration. It’s very admirable to see that despite the world’s corruptions and oppression, there are STILL dedicated positive, active, creative artist that take full responsibility in their role in society.

They have the maturity to understand and recognise just how important their role as a musician is and the high influence they have on young people who listen and follow them in their music journey and how do I know this? Because I have had the pleasure, to pick the brains of all three here artist. Interviewing each of them finding out the truth behind their music. Meet the following artists….

Mac Nitti

Mac Nitti hails from Rochester, NY. He is the self-proclaimed Pharaoh of Rochester. He belongs to his own label, Pyramid Entertainment. Mac Nitti is best classified as a positive rapper, though he considers himself to be a Socially Conscious Poet. Mac is also a producer and has displayed his talents on the albums of many local acts. His debut album, Addicted To This, was released July 2007 and is flooded with his crisp beats and lyrical opinions on situations faced by people of the inner city. Mac is hoping to not only have his music heard, but to make as many changes, through his music, as possible. Always looking to make a positive change, he figures his music, is the best way to make a change. This includes speaking to other artists he is producing music for or collaborating with.

He added in a blog: “Yesterday I was talking to Renae Rain, who by the way is doing big things in the music world, and we were building on how we were thoroughly disgusted with the music industry, in particular the rappers of today. We were saying how we remember how Hip-Hop used to be a platform for people to express their dissatisfaction with the system and the unfair advantage given to the ghetto residents. Hip-Hop was a way for us to tell the world the dirty little secrets that the government tried so hard to hide.

But the all of a sudden, our heroes of the rap world decided to add a clause to their principles. The hands behind the scenes said, “Look, you can make more money and gain more fame if you stop talking about the ghetto and how you can’t get hired because of the color of your skin.” They said, “You can get rich quicker if you called women bitches and rapped about smoking weed and cooking coke and stop rapping about the unbalanced education system in the hood.” So, the principles we had set were set down and never picked back up. His album, ‘Still Addicted’, is passionate about social and economic betterment for the poor and neglected, while still proving his lyrical ability”.

Mac has rhymes reflect his environment; situations he witnessed first hand, or situations others in the ghetto were facing. He came from a middle class family and grew up in the inner city. “I grew up in a close family. I remember my mom playing Aretha Franklin and Earth,Wind & Fire. My dad played Sam Cook and Mahalia Jackson. So I was exposed to a variety of soulful music. But that was my parent’s music. I wanted my own. Mac would find his own music in songs like La Di Da Di, and I Need Love. “I was hooked. I ate Hip-Hop up! Anyone that had KRS-ONE or Just-ICE, I dubbed a copy. Finally, my own music.”

Mac Nitti grew up in the ghetto. “Sure, I had a structured family. But I saw what drugs did to our community. The poverty and the torn families. Hip-Hop was a way to vent. All of Hip-Hop; rap, graffiti, dancing, slang; were tools for expression and venting. So I used it for that. It’s in me to crack a joke when I can to lighten up a tense moment, so from time to time I throw some comedy in my rhymes. At the same time, my rhymes are very serious. Feel me?”

Nick Javas

Nick Javas pleasantly dropped in my yahoo inbox about a month ago which was a huge surprise to me, seeing as he came all the way from New Jersey and managed to have learnt about my show all the way across seas’ in little old Bedford town.

Not only a hottie Italian stallion but also his flow and lyrical content is very much to my liking too.

What lit up my enthusiasm for this artist was how dedicated he seemed and positive about hip hop and it’s message. Nick has the kind of flow that makes you want to hear more and his conscious demeanor set a pace that is just timeless.

Understanding that music has a high role in being a kind of hypnosis in which lyrics and image do play a massive role in kids lives, Nick is very aware of the kind of music that he wants to put out there and also sticks to what true hip hop is all about. The impression I got from interviewing Nick Javas was that he despises the “bling” commercial scene and calls it “selfish” and we talked about artist not being aware of the impression they and particularly rappers leave (check out Material girl on youtube) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNGQiHAKn9s with those who listen to it and its strong influence on the attitude of today’s society and its values.

Nick’s music is inspiring in that the messages are generally positive and clear straight to the point with metaphoric clever rhyme wording and some humour.

With his mixtape entitled, Detour, which dropped May 27th, the New Jersey native is another young star that is making his dreams reality! Hard Work, dedication and commitment are just a few of the characteristics that describe Nick, and passion is a key element in his formula for success. “When I finished college, I just went into the studio hard! I started doing shows and when I felt like I had a strong demo, with me Being out in New York, I made sure that I was at all of the industry events. I eventually ran into DJ Premiere, who took a liking to me and my music. He was starting a new record label called Year Round Records at the time, and that’s where it all Began”. Nick admits, however, that music was not his first love. “I have always Been a hip hop fan but not necessarily a hip hop artist. When my athletic career was cut short due to a knee injury, I found my new sport, which is writing. This was my new passion, which Became a hip hop career.” And what a career it is turning in to be!

Outside of blazing the stage, Javas’ writing skills paid off when he was asked to perform his rhymes for the NFL. “I started this week one of the 2010 NFL season. What I did was I wrote a rhyme every Sunday night, recapping the highlights of the game. It would be a lyrical highlight rhyme that I would put together over night and make a video with it. I would drop it every Monday by 8am. This got the attention of ESPN, who aired one of my episodes on Sports Nation. The NFL reached out to me, and my episodes got played at all the playoff games. I got to work with guys like Big Boi B.o.B, Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, and Snoop Dogg to bring this project together.”

Jordan London

British born rapper Jordan London came on my radio show back in July on a super hot summers day, in his shades and his cool colour co coordinated attire, his look matched his vocal flow and ability (impeccable). JL has a style that is witty, fresh metaphorical and real! He’s always striving to improve and learn with extensive performances behind him and music videos coming out his ears. The work rate is certainly high with JL juggling everyday life supporting himself, while striving to be the best in his field which definitely reflects in his material. Whilst Jordon London joined me as a co-host on In2beats 106.5FM/www.intobeats.com back in July, where we both interviewed Bluey Robinson his energy and charisma was a pleasure to be amongst so much so that after his massive freestyle and at the end of the show his humble invitation to his next gig, I was unable to refuse.

So I touched down to the West End at the Hilton Hotel, to see JL do what he does best, the suspense was too much and the atmosphere and ambience was cool. Unfortunately no fault of JL the organisers who seemed to have had their wires crossed whilst the event advertised going on till late the late was no later than 10.30 there abouts leaving a lot of artist and unhappy spectators without a fulfilled bill in which they were meant to have performed….catch the outside aftermath quick up-close video of JL explaining all. I shall wait till the next meeting with JL before I go into much more depth and give JL a full feature about him and also load the video of us doing our thing on the SRT show. Check Jordan London out at the following links

Singapore grand prix.

An intriguing atmosphere at one of the longest races in formula one. A full two hour race, limited to that time on a track which twists and turns like a switch back. Add to that the fact that they’re racing at night, and the huge tyre wear, and it cant fail to be anything but an amazing race.
As usual we saw Sebastian Vettel take poll, with his team mate mark Webber in second, our own Jenson button and Lewis Hamilton in Third and fourth.

The cars wove around on the warm up lap sending sparks from beneath due to the maxed out fuel loads weighing the cars down. From a spectators point of view, the track looked incredible lit up in all colours and beautifully designed.

The cars exploded off the start line with Jenson Button quickly taking second from Mark Webber. Alonso overtook Hamilton and then Michael Schumacher dove in front as well. After Monza, this was definitely not what Lewis was hoping for.
The tide began to turn for the Maclarens as Lewis went round the outside of Schumacher and on the next lap, Rosberg, showing us some of the flare and fighting spirit we’ve all come to love.

Mark Webber did a great pass on Fernando Alonso into lap ten whilst Lewis Hamilton smashed his front wing into Phillipe Massa’s Ferrarri, puncturing Massa’s right rear tyre and dropping them both far back in the pack.
Lewis was given a drive through penalty for the incident, which put paid to any hopes he might have had of a podium finish in this race, as he fed back into the pack in sixteenth place.

Into lap 17 the top six looked very unusual. Vettel and Button in first and second wasn’t much of a surprise, but Paul DiResta in third made us look twice. Alonso in fourth with Webber and Rosberg bringing up fifth and sixth meant for an interesting beginning.

Alonso passed Di Resta in lap nineteen after being led a merry chase.

Sebastian Vettel cruised along at the front with his usual skill and smooth driving style, a full fourteen seconds in front of second place Jenson Button.

Paul Di Resta dropped back in the field after his first pit stop, but very soon fought his way back up into seventh, with his eye on Adrian Suttil in sixth.

Lewis Hamilton made it through to thirteenth in lap twenty four, desperately hoping for a miracle to get him back in the running. We saw Jenson Button come back from equally far down the field in Canada. What a pleasure it would be to see something similar from Lewis.

Paul Di Resta took fifth in lap twenty eight as Lewis Hamilton got into tenth behind Michael Schumacher.

Nico Rosberg chased down Adrian Suttil in lap twenty nine, hanging on his tail wind as he put immense pressure on the force India driver.

Shuemacher crashes out

Rose erg almost lost a place to Perez as Michael Schumacher misjudged his overtake on Perez, slamming into the back of him and sending Schumacher smashing into the barriers.

This put Hamilton up into tenth place behind Rubins Barrichello and Sergio Perez. It also meant that the race leader lost his vast lead due to the safety car coming out.
Jenson Button pitted giving him tyre advantage, as did Lewis Hamilton, obviously hoping for a tear up through the pack as he put on the super soft.

And there off again! The safety car came in on lap thirty four as the drivers put the pedals to the metal. Mark Webber took advantage of the closed pack to get past Fernando Alonso.

Lewis Hamilton attacked Adrian Suttil trying to take seventh place, but the force India driver cut him off.

Sergio Perez surged ahead doing spectacularly after the restart, as Hamilton tried desperately to pass his friend Suttil. Finally succeeding in lap thirty seven, as Suttil let him past, proving friendship is more important than victory for some!

Hamilton now up to sixth place looked to Paul Di Resta for his next conquest. The Scot and the Englishman dicing for fifth place, as the commentators eloquently put it. Lewis came out victorious and surged through into fifth place.

Sebastian Vettel breezed along in first place a full twelve seconds ahead of second place man Jenson Button, showing his determination to take another world championship title to become the youngest ever double world champion in formula one.

The race now seemed to be a test of tyres for Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton. Which would keep their rubber off the road and on the wheels the longest.

Hamilton Passes Roseburg

Lewis lost out on a place as Webber pitted into new super soft options, managing to fly past Hamilton on his failing tyres. Jenson Button also pitted as his tyres fell off the cliff as well. The red bull team responded by pulling in the race leader Vettel, who nearly got wiped out coming out of the pit lane by a lotus!

Hamilton comes back out in ninth, though Button still maintained second place, now only none seconds behind Vettel, with Mark Webber following a close four and a half seconds behind him.

Lap fifty two, and Lewis Hamilton took Rosberg for sixth place, the new options giving him perfect traction to roar past his rival.

Jenson Button extended his lead, over third place man Mark Webber, to ten seconds, as Hamilton overtakes yet another driver to take fifth place.

Suttil and Rosberg fought tooth and nail for seventh place whilst Kobayashi caught up to Sebastian Buemi in thirteenth.

With six laps to go, Jenson Button floored his Maclaren, giving it everything he could to gain time on Sebastian Vettel.

The top five read Vettel, button, webber, alonso,Hamilton coming into the last lap. The sudden traffic of back markers proved damaging to Jensons bid against Vettel, slowing him down as Algiswari crashed, bringing out the yellow flags for the last lap.

Sebastian Vettel wins the Singapore Grand Prix as Jenson Button takes second only one point three seconds behind him. With Mark Webber in third, Fernando Alonso in fourth and Lewis Hamilton bringing up fifth place after another fantastic Grand Prix.

Spectacular fireworks signalled the end of another wonderful race on a truly awesome track.

The championship now reads Vettel, Button, Webber, Alonso, Hamilton. Barring a major incident, we could well see Sebastian Vettel take the world championship title at the next race.

Congratulations to Sebastian on another great race. To Jenson Button for another truly powerful performance, and to Paul DiResta for an utterly awe inspiring performance in his rookie season!

I first heard Kym Marsh sing at a charity event in Manchester in 2000 before she came into the public eye as a contestant on Popstars and eventually won herself a place in the band ‘Hear’ Say’. I remember being stunned by her beautiful voice back then and even though she left the band in 2002 and her career has had a few up’s and down’s she is now flying high landing herself a role as Michelle Connor in the UK’s leading and most well known soap opera, Coronation Street.

Kym married Eastenders actor, Jack Ryder in 2002 but unfortunately the marriage did not work out and she has now settled with Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas who proposed to Kym on Christmas Day 2009. After loosing their first baby ‘Archie’ to miscarriage Kym successfully gave birth in March this year to a beautiful baby girl, Polly. I met baby Polly at a Sunday lunch a few weeks ago and she is such a pretty little thing.

I went to the Crème de la Crème ball last week in Cheshire hosted by Dawn and Ashley Ward who raised over £100,000 for the three charities they chose for this year’s ball. With many faces there to support the couple from Wayne and Coleen Rooney, Katie Price, John Bishop and many more footballers and Soap stars, Kym was there to kick off the evenings entertainment and her voice is still as stunning as ever. The evening ended with Marti Pellow from the Scottish pop band who formed in the 80’s ‘Wet Wet Wet’ performing all the old hits including ‘Love is all Around’ and ‘Goodnight Girl’.

After a long break from Corrie to rest and have her baby Kym has started filming again and we will see her return onto our screens in October!
