The L.A. Times’ Chris Dufresne says BCS haters should be careful what they wish for. This scenario would certainly make Boise State fans happy. (At least, it should.)

Dufresne is not alone in projecting two non-BCS teams (TCU and Boise State) to make one of college football’s five biggest bowl games. ESPN.com's bowl projections also forecast both teams in BCS games.

No incentive for BCS conference teams to play Boise State

No one will play

WAC commissioner Karl Benson told the Idaho Statesman on Wednesday that Boise State is struggling to schedule a BCS-conference opponent for 2011 — even with the help (and exposure and money) of ESPN behind the effort.

The Broncos are not asking for a return game in Boise. Just one road game. And about 10 teams have turned the Broncos down, according to Benson.

Boise State's Wilson, Idaho's Veltung earn WAC honors

Boise State cornerback Kyle Wilson and Idaho kick returner Justin Veltung earned WAC defensive and special teams player of the week honors Monday.

Wilson, a senior, had a 27-yard interception return for a touchdown in the Broncos' 45-7 rout of San Jose State. He also had five tackles, including one for loss.

Veltung, a freshman, returned the opening kickoff 94 yards in the Vandals' 35-34 victory against Louisiana Tech. It was Idaho's first kickoff return for touchdown since joining the WAC in 2005.

Fresno State's Ryan Mathews earned WAC offensive player of the week honors.

Eight AP voters put Oregon ahead of Boise State on ballot

At least eight voters of the 60 Associated Press poll voted Oregon ahead of Boise State in their ballot this week. Boise State defeated Oregon 19-8 in the season opener at Bronco Stadium.

Nearly 1,500 tickets remain for Saturday’s 1 p.m. kickoff between No. 6 Boise State and WAC foe San Jose State at Bronco Stadium.

There are also a number of student and guest tickets remaining.

Fans can purchase three tickets and receive one free in the south end zone as part of the Broncos’ “Tick-et Treat” promotion.

Fans are encouraged to wear orange to the Halloween day game.

UPDATE: 4:30 p.m. — From ESPN's Graham Watson:

ESPN's "College GameDay" is coming to Air Force Academy for the Air Force — Army game on Nov. 7.

Next week’s game will mark the third time "College GameDay" has broadcast from the Academy. The crew was there in 2001 for the Army game and in 2002 for the contest against Notre Dame. "College GameDay" will kickoff a week of programming in conjunction with Veterans Day.

ESPNU to televise Broncos-Vandals on Nov. 14; H-Bowl wants Idaho

ESPNU will televise Boise State’s annual rivalry game with Idaho on Nov. 14 from Bronco Stadium, the Broncos announced Wednesday morning.

Kickoff has been moved to 1:30 p.m. It was originally slated to kickoff at 1 p.m. and be televised by KTVB.

UPDATE: No, the game will not be shown on KTVB. ESPN has an option in its television contract with the WAC that allows it to select additional games for its family of networks. ESPN exercised that option for this game.

ESPNU is on channel 301 on CableOne, channel 614 on Direct TV and channel 148 on Dish Network.
