9:14 p.m. — Eagle 22, Capital 21: Taylor Kelly scored on a 26-yard run with 2:44 remaining in the game, then kicker Jace Johnson scored a two-point conversion on a fake point-after try to take the lead and put Capital on its heals. 2:44 remains in the fourth quarter.

Eagle, Borah grads remain alive in NCAA women's soccer tournament

Sophomore and Eagle High graduate Halley Kreminski scored two goals, including the game-winner with less than two minutes remaining, to lead the No. 2-ranked Pilots to a 2-1 victory against the Washington Huskies in an NCAA second-round game Sunday in Portland. Kreminski has 10 goals this season, despite starting only once.

Cross country: Nike Cross National Northwest Regional preview

The Nike Cross Nationals Northwest Regional cross country meet returns to Eagle Island State Park on Saturday for the third consecutive season.

Teams from Idaho, Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming will race over 5 kilometers of grass, sand and packed dirt. Runners in the championship races, which begin at 2:05 p.m., will be competing for invitations to the national championship meet Dec. 5 in Portland.

Capital (10-0) and Eagle (9-1) moved into the 5A state semifinals, all three local 4A teams were eliminated and Fruitland (7-3) clobbered Orofino in 3A action. The playoffs continue Saturday.

9:03 p.m. — Capital 38, Mountain View 13: The Eagles appear to be on their way to the state semifinals. Running back Charlie McMartin scored on fourth-and-one with a 54-yard touchdown run up the middle with 4:34 remaining in the game.

9:02 p.m. — The winner of this game will host Highland next week. The Rams beat Idaho Falls 34-26 at Holt Arena tonight.
