Capital, Eagle meet for 5A state football championship

Not only are Capital and Eagle two of the most dominant football programs in the state this season, but the two schools separated by only nine miles feel like they have something to prove. Capital, which last won a state title in 1991, lost the championship against Meridian two years ago. Eagle, which last won in 2001, came up short against Highland in last year's title game. "I think this town has a chance of seeing a heck of a show," Eagle coach Paul Peterson said. "We're all in one big neighborhood and I really believe this will be a great football game."

It won't be long until Idaho (15-14, 11-5 WAC) and Boise State (7-21, 7-9) reacquaint themselves with each other, as they will meet in the first round of the WAC Tournament in Las Vegas. Swimming begins at 5:30 p.m. Friday, and 8:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. The meet features 190 swimmers from the Boise YMCA along with teams from Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Utah.
