James Craft had 24 points and eight rebounds to lead the Lewis-Clark State men's basketball team past College of Idaho 76-69 on Friday night in the 23rd annual Duane Wolfe Memorial Golden Rule Shoot Out. Daniel Williams added 18 points and five assists for Lewis-Clark State (5-1). Led by Skyview High product Matt Ballenger, College of Idaho (1-1) hit five 3-pointers in the first eight minutes to build a 25-9 lead. Ballenger led the Coyotes with 18 points and seven rebounds.

Capital, Eagle meet for 5A state football championship

Not only are Capital and Eagle two of the most dominant football programs in the state this season, but the two schools separated by only nine miles feel like they have something to prove. Capital, which last won a state title in 1991, lost the championship against Meridian two years ago. Eagle, which last won in 2001, came up short against Highland in last year's title game. "I think this town has a chance of seeing a heck of a show," Eagle coach Paul Peterson said. "We're all in one big neighborhood and I really believe this will be a great football game."

The Vandals avenged an earlier loss at Boise State with a 25-16, 25-18, 25-20 win in Moscow on Thursday night. It won't be long until Idaho (15-14, 11-5 WAC) and Boise State (7-21, 7-9) reacquaint themselves with each other, as they will meet in the first round of the WAC Tournament in Las Vegas. Idaho, the No. 3 seed, will take on Boise State, the No. 6 seed, on Monday.
