New York-based reggae artist Leighton is turning heads and creating a stir with the release of his latest single, Life, a 2012 remake of an old pop favorite from the 1980s.

Life is an adaptation of a haunting and hypnotic love song that was a number one smash single on both sides of the Atlantic. It was written by the Bee Gees for Barbara Streisand's Grammy winning album "Guilty". Leighton brought the song back to life with his lush, velvety vocals skillfully guided by the direction of producer Nikimo Palache and ably assisted by veteran reggae recorder Ed Robinson.

Leighton hails from St. Elizabeth, Jamaica where he attended Munro College before migrating to the United States. But his vocal gifts were making jaws drop in Jamaican churches from he was seven years old. In New York, he was a member of his Long island high school choir doing Broadway tunes before joining an R & B band, and this early experience has greatly helped him to take on the fast-paced and demanding world of reggae.

Here is an interesting youtube clip of life below, and Leighton's next New York City appearance is on Saturday March 10 at the Linkage Radio Reggae Awards in Mount Vernon.

Charismatic, sexy and lyrically lethal are words that could be used to describe the fast-rising deejay, 1st LADY made her first major appearance in 2007 at Victoria Park, St Vincent as opening act for Jamaican Artiste Tony Matterhorn.

Two months after the release of her first video which was a medley of four of her hits songs over the past years namely “Kitchen Dunce”, “Drop Sleep Pon Me”, “Ahh Nuh Nuttin” and “Drunk Like So” First lady has gained the attention of Top Jamaican Production Company “CASH FLOW RECORDS” with her 2012 hit song which is a counteraction to Jamaican Recording Artiste Baby Cham song entitled “Wine” on the “School Bag Riddim” which has been dominating the airwaves both Locally and Regionally for several weeks.

Her songs “Send on Di Money” clean version and “Send on Di B****y” Dirty Version has just release Regionally on 31st January, 2012 on many regional radio stations and has since created a major buzz with the space of a few hours. These very controversial songs are expected to earn major radio and club rotation within the coming weeks. Jamaican Record Company Cash Flow has praised the efforts of First Lady in her production of two songs on their “School Bag Riddim” and has public “A” rated her song as one of creative and hot lyrics.

Under the management of re-known St. Kitts based SKN Entertainment for the past several months, First Lady’s reputed for her controversial and hard hitting lyrics, didn't disappoint as she uttered "flexible wine cause rude gal no dead" in the well anticipated counteraction. First Lady has made a major accomplishment as the first Vincentian to ever collaborate with re-known dancehall producers Cash Flow Records out of Jamaica.

First Lady is described as being talented, young, bold and determine to become an artiste to reckon with in the Dancehall fraternity as she prove her worth and creativity in the eyes of several regional producers such as Cash Flow Records out of Jamaica. First Lady is very excited and enthusiastic about the future of her career in 2012 and beyond as she warn her fans both domestic and internationally to expect even more creativity and crowd pleasing material as the year goes on. First Lady and her management are also in the process of planning the production of a new music video for “Send on Di Money” in March, 2012.

For more information, Dubs, Jingles and Bookings please email: bookings@sknentertainment.com

She ends by saying “Nor If Nor But Nor Maybe” First Lady is going to take 2012 by storm.

Fanpage: Facebook

http://www.facebook.com/pages/First-ladHYPERLINK "http://www.facebook.com/pages/First-lady-svg/270545606345833"y-svg/270545606345833

http://www.IDancehallReggae.com

Truckback Records has released a brand new version of one of dancehall reggae's best loved rub-a-dub riddims, Freedom Blues, to mark the 50th anniversary of Jamaican independence in 2012. Starting with the bubbling, seductive melodies and bass line originally made a staple of Jamaican dancehalls by Pinchers, Admiral Tibet and Brigadier Jerry, Truckback producers Adrian and Steve Locke injected the dancehall classic with up-to-the-time vibes for Jamaica's biggest stars.

Now, for the first time, Tarrus Riley, Gyptian, Busy Signal, Warrior King and Turbulence contributed contemporary narratives and are excited to team up with Truckback on this brand new commemorative release, called Freedom Shines, that will connect longtime dancehall fans and the newest generations. Truckback's Steve Locke says the Freedom Shines riddim is one way for Jamaica's older and younger generations to come together through the music. "Going into the project, we wanted to use the power of music to unite Jamaica. Freedom Shines brings together the old and the new -- everything old is new again!" Adrian Locke adds, "Tarrus, Gyptian, Busy, Warrior and Turbulence loved the idea of reintroducing a classic with a special spin on it." Indeed, freedom certainly shines on Truckback's first release of 2012.

Blue Print: Since the release of her reggae single, Brand New Page last week, dancehall artiste Spice says she is pleased with the response the track has garnered thus far.

The reggae song which was produced by Blaqk Sheep Music on the Tropical Connection Riddim was the perfect way to start the year, Spice says. "I chose to release it in January because that's always the time most persons are determined to stay true to their new year resolutions and improve on things in their lives. That's what Brand New Page is about - getting rid of things that shouldn't be in your life and making a fresh start."

"So far the response has been great, I can't complain. The roots reggae stations and their listeners have been loving that song and before promoting my next single, Take Him Out alongside Mya, this will be the track that my team will be promoting both here and in Europe," says Spice.

The creative artiste is also up for a number of nominations at this year's Youth View Awards, scheduled to take place on February 4 at the National Indoor Sports Centre. The nominations include: Young, Hot and Hype Female Artiste of The Year, Fashion Icon Female, Favourite Local Female Artiste and Favourite Dancehall Artiste Female.

Spice who is known for her hits including, Ramping Shop with Vybz Kartel, Slim Versus Fluffy, Jim Screechie, Hot Patty Wine, Funalongside Missy Elliott and more, says, "I'm definitely looking forward to this year's YVAs; it's always so much fun and they always come with some great concepts. I also am extremely happy with the number of nominations I received and I want to thank all the fans who have been voting so far."

http://www.IDancehallReggae.com

Riding high with a cadre of hits such as: ‘Cups High’, ‘Menke’, ‘Internet Bad Boy’ and the Christopher Birch produced ‘Have Nuh Gal Like We’, established entertainer Ninja Kidhas released his first official single for 2012.

The song titled ‘Tongue Ring Shot’ is a very provocative number dedicated to the ladies who are wearers of the trendy body art. Kid, whose given name is Ojukwu Simpson credits the current tongue ring and body piercing trend as the inspiration behind the composition.

“Almost every girl you meet or see nowadays have some kind of piercing and quite a few of them pierce their tongue. So I just sing a song about it and highlight what they doing and them seems to like it.”

Produced by Marcus Myrie, son of incarcerated Reggae superstar Buju Banton___ the song has already found its way onto the FM airwaves and local party circuit despite being only days old. “I played the songs for a wide cross-section of females to get feedback and they said they loved it, so based on that the decision was taken to release it as my first official single for 2012.” – Kid intimated.

Plans are also in motion for an accompanying video in the weeks ahead. Meanwhile, Ninja Kid currently managed by Darkcide International has been working assiduously with a number of A-list producers such as: Stephen McGregor, Christopher Birch, DJ Smurf, Seanizzle, Marcus Myrie, Truckback Records, Young Veterans, Q45 Productions and Ballers Production among others.

2011 has been a whirlwind for dancehall/reggae artist Teflon. After a somewhat turbulent past few years, Teflon finally is in a happy and blessed frame of mind.

In 2011 Teflon made his presence seen all over Jamaica by performing on stage shows like Follow The Arrow, ST Mary Mi Come from GT Taylor Christmas Extravaganza and Sting. Of course he also showed love to his fans by several club appearances where he mixed and mingled while delighting the crowd with several hits.

2011 was also the year where Teflon finally returned to Canada, and took advantage of his second home by filming the video "Blessed" a Black Ice Productions. His European and African Tour were rescheduled for 2012 because of prior conflict of interest with his end of year shows in Jamaica. He wants his International fans to know that he will be there sooner than later and thank them for all the love and patience.

Teflon hit the music charts with several production such as "Matey Anthem" riddim by Pure Music Productions, "That's Life & Jan Nuh let me go" by Gt production and Romiech production, and was blessed to voice on riddims for producers like Ward21, Skitta, Cashflow, Breadback, Delly ranks, Bigship, Tenament Yard and Computer Paul. His many collaborations included Capleton/King Shango "Same Struggle", Chezedek "Rise Again", Stevie face "Sha La Laa" and Marlon Binns "So Much Trouble".

Reflecting on this past year Teflon admits that he made a few mistake and learned hard lessons from them, but feels blessed to be able to do and share what he loves "Jah bless me and through the struggle I will rise".
http://www.IDancehallReggae.com

A cornucopia of music will provide a feast of multicultural delights as world beat music takes center stage at the Budweiser One Love Nutrifest on Saturday February 18, 2012 in Miami. A melodic smorgasbord featuring a musical genre for every taste - including reggae, Latin American, Caribbean, rock 'n roll, and more - will highlight this year's concert.

Hitting the stage are a unique group of artists whose musical brilliance is eclipsed only by its message of love and hope.

"I carefully selected this lineup because every artist has devoted their life to spreading a message that is consistent with our purpose," said ROCKAZ MVMT president and CEO Alfonso D'Niscio Brooks. "We are all striving to change the world for the better by empowering people to make a positive difference through the universal language of music."

Midnite, the legendary St. Croix roots reggae group since tells us to "keep good relations" with one another, despite the corporate greed and political discord around the globe.

Cultura Profetica, is a Puerto Rican reggae band with lyrics that center mostly on socio-political and ecological issues.

Easy Star All-Stars', by now we should all know: Dub Side of the Moon, their acclaimed refashioning of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon is eight years old, plus Radiodread, a tribute to Radiohead's Ok Computer, and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Dub Band--no surprise who that's a tribute to-aren't much younger. They have defined themselves as one of the most powerful Reggae production conglomerates outside of Jamaica.

Gondwana, from Chile, has been spreading the word of Jah Love, standing tall and strong in a peace-loving position of musical and lyrical creation.

Jahfe is here to let the world know that contrary to popular beliefs Jah is real and His word shall come to pass. Representing the power of the youth and the wisdom of roots culture, the music of Jahfe not only reflects the city's diverse music scene but also the true ability of conscious music to connect to people of all backgrounds.

Jean P Jam is a special blend of world beat music they call Deep Roots. Deeply rooted rhythms with globally encompassing lyrics to share, inspire, and expand what we know as world music.

"Our ultimate goal is to uplift the spirit and inspire people of every ilk to give of themselves to help make the world a better place in which to live," said D'Niscio Brooks. "We're accomplishing this task 100% eco friendly by spreading art, culture and music while raising money to end poverty, feed the hungry and shelter the homeless."

This year's concert will include a food drive benefiting Curley's House (www.curleyshouseinc.com) an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for low-to-moderate income individuals, families, the elderly, youth-at-risk, the abused, and HIV/AIDS infected individuals by providing the nutrition they need. Guests will be asked to contribute two or more cans of food as part of the cost of admission.

"Given the philanthropic nature of this event, we're inviting all civic minded companies to join us as sponsors," D'Niscio Brooks said. "It's a great way to get your name in front of thousands of people while ensuring that hundreds of thousands of dollars are donated to a very worthy cause."

On event day we will orchestrate an "island festival" of tents that will feature new products, special drinks, foods, art, and more. In addition we will have a non-profit village with a host of foundations offering information, art & crafts village, food vending village, green partners explaining the benefits of going green, workshops, bounce houses for children, bike valet, YOGA in the park, eco village, compost village, farmers market, VIP lounge, Recycling bins will be placed throughout the venue along with signage alerting attendees to the importance of recycling.

The Budwesier One Love Nutrifest is scheduled for Saturday February 18, 2012 at Grand Central Park 721 NW 1st Ave in Downtown Miami.
