Idea:

When i receive a connections notification in my mail whatever is the device i use, the url send me to a Web UI which is almost unusable with a mobile, despite there is a mobile URL available.

Could we have an automatic redirection to the same content but with the mobile URL when the link is used from a mobile ?

The same could apply to any content referenced in a connections content. If this is a Web url content reference it should be translated to the same content but with the mobile url.

Add instant notifications to the Connections App (use native infrastructure, like the Sametime App does) to notify the user of statusupdates of people I follow, reply's on my board, posts in my community. And in the future of mentions I get or retweets of my statusupdate in my networks.

This will engage the user and make it for more realtime responsiveness of the userbase.

The use of mentioning in microblogging/statusupdates, much like twitter and facebook now implement. So @mention will cause to trigger a notification for the receiving user. The message can be put in his/her updatestream and/or given an e-mail notification and/or a inscreen popup and/or mobile notification.

This way you can respond and engage other people that might not follow you in a discusion on your own board.

How about integrating our Lotus Note mail box in Lotus Connection like a tab at the top, so that we no need to open it separately. Can Lotus connection be a single platform from where we can access everything. One single platform for communication & collaboration

If not, can it show a mail notification like -"You have 3 unread mails from so & so"/" A new mail came to your inbox"

Not a pop up but as an alerts.

How about adding a twistie (pointing downward/upward) in Lotus Connections Communities' discussion threads? The best CVs are written from the latest job downward, and this is how I wish I could read posts in LC communities at times.

If technically doable, please add a small triangle icon beside each discussion title to allow users to read comments also from the bottom up. After all, a twistie is already available in IBM Lotus Notes mail.

Idea:

A few months ago I had the chance to try and use Tivoli Directory Integrator. The goal is to try and sync information (from Active Directory to a Lotus Notes Database and between Lotus Notes databases). After installation I thought that I would try the sync between nsf first. It took some time and pleanty of google search before I manage to pull all data from one nsf to the other but I never manage to get the connector to detect a change and sync those changes only.

So based on my own painfull experience of using the product I think that it definetely need a detailed how to use guide for every possible sync scenario (with real world example if possible). Otherwise a powerfull product would most likely go to waste because only a few people can understand how to use it.

What's your opinion about this ?

PS : I am posting this on Connection idea space since there is no idea space for TDI

Due to the free availability of Files and Profiles for Domino users, I bothered to install them. All roads now lead to the IBM Connections Wiki, which has no normal integral guide to installing and configuring http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/lcwiki.nsf/dx/Installing_ic301 I would like to have available guidance in several ways: Win32, Win64, Linux32, Linux64, which will contain links to relevant resources, service packs, fixes, etc., detailed sequence of actions and will be updated with new versions of products that represent the IBM Connections stack. This guide should help the person who had no experience with WAS, TDI, DB2 install and maintain IBM Connections.

I would llike the ability to set up a controlled list of index terms (tags) to be used to tag files, etc. When searching by tags you'll only find those tags that are spelled exactly like the word you're using. With IBM's attachment to TLAs, you can't always count on the TLA you're looking for to be the one used by someone else. I want to set up a list of words for my group to use, so that ONLY those words on the list can be used to tag files.

I have just tried to create public / moderated / private forums on Connection 3.0.1 and is puzzled when I cannot find a way for public forums to be pre-moderated. By pre-moderated I mean that every post / new topic must be approved first by forum administrators before it can be displayed / viewed by other users.

Currently you can delete a post after it is posted but on some cases it would be better to filter malicious topic beforehand.

I believe this ability would be usefull for public comment / critic forums on environment where people can made rather vulgar rant / very harsh comment.

Currently in version 3.x forum are flat, there is no ability to create subforums. Comparing forums with community (which has sub-community) it would be nice if forums also have this.

If it does, it would also be logical that the sub-forums would have a more granular access restriction than its parents. Example : if the parent forum is public, then subforums can be moderated / private.

With IBM's release today of IBM Connections for Android (free on Android Market) we finally have a client app for Android. After a quick config to the Greenhouse environment (https://greenhouse.lotus.com/mobile) it appear to be a pretty full function client (if a bit slow).

Bookmarks have alwas been one of my favorite features and I appreciate the mobile support that includes sharing (notify) complete with name lookup, add to community, etc..

One glaring integration issue is that it doesn't apear to support adding bookmark from the mobile browsers. I tried with both the built in browser and Firefox. Both have a feature where you can "Share" a page that seems to pull up a list of registered applications (Bluetooth, Dropbox, Evernote, Facebook, Gmail, Mail/Traveler, Messaging, gReader, TweetCaster, ... you get the idea). Shouldn't IBM Connections Bookmarks be in this registered list??? I for one won't be copying URLs and launching a separte client to share them.

I look forward to exploring the rest of the features in this new client. Keep up the great work IBM!

Add a Social Hub sidebar widget. This widget should collect all informations from popular social sites, like:

- Lotus Connections (profile, blog entry, etc)

- Facebook

- LinkedIn

- Twitter

- GWibber

- Sharepoint

-etc...

When You click on a mail/calendar entry, this widget recognizes the sender email address and searches those sites for this user and lists posts. (as Outlook does this with FB)

There can be separate backend plugins for each social sites, those plugins can provide standardised (eg xml) input for the sidebar widget on the UI. So, independent developers can extend the widget with several other social (or other) sources.

If I select 50 rows in blogs, I'd like to have the 50 rows again in wikis or the search.

I personally don't like paging with only 10 entries.

Can't it be 10, 25, 50, 100 or continuous ?

Recently I started to capture my customer meeting notes in my own private 'community' in blogs to "Organise my work a little better". With tagging I am able to search my meeting notes.

Currently I write down the notes on a writing pad at the customer site and then type them over in Lotus Connections.

Nicer might be the following scenario:

Imagine I have an iPad and I could write on the iPad, effectively, with a pen. Like this: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-10443415-233.html

The ipad recognises my hand writing and captures my meeting notes 'electronically' in a Lotus Connections blog (e.g. Like this: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/writepad/id293033512?mt=8
I can add tags and topic etc (and add maybe some actions..).

Key is the electronic hand writing recognition and the 'transfer' (disconnected?) from iPad to the Lotus connections blog.

I would like to see Connections give us the ability to present the user with a "Log In With (Facebook|Twitter|LinkedIn)" button. Let us utilize an existing social network instead of having to build another one. This is obviously for public facing Connections deployments. These existing social networks already have user self-service and a much more mature community of users than any new Connections based site will generate in it's early stages. If a Connections public deployment were just another app hanging off of the existing public networks, adoption and inclusion of public people would be much easier. I saw this in a Portal Next demo, and think this will be great to bring to Connections.
