Arizona has gone too far… again

Today Wednesday May 12, hours after The United Nations condemned the measure, Arizona’s governor, Jan Brewster, signed another ridiculous law that take Arizona more and more in to a White-Supremacist State. Under the new law it is now illegal to teach Ethnic Studies. Tom Horne, a Republican running for attorney general and Arizona’s Schools Chief, said that studying other ethnic groups “promotes resentment towards a certain ethnic group.” The School District will no longer offer their programs in African-American, Mexican-American and Native-American studies that focus on history and literature.

So what will happen with the American History course that focuses on the role of Hispanics in the Vietnam War?

Is the American History course NOT a study of ethnic groups?

Hoy Miércoles Mayo 12, horas después de que Las Naciones Unidas Condenaron la Medida, La gobernadora de Arizona, Jan Brewster, firmó otra ley ridícula que lleva a Arizona mas y mas a un Estado De Supremacía Blanca. Bajo la nueva ley es ahora ilegal el enseñar Estudios Étnicos. Tom Horne, un Republicano que esta corriendo para abogado general y es el Jefe de las Escuelas de Arizona, dijo que el estudiar otros grupos étnicos “promueve resentimiento hacia ciertos grupos étnicos.” El distrito escolar ya no va a ofrecer programas en estudios Afro-Americanos, México-Americanos y Nativo-Americanos que se enfocan en historia y literatura.

¿Así es que va a pasar con los cursos de Historia Americana que se enfocan en el papel que tuvieron los Hispanos en la Guerra de Vietnam?

¿Acaso NO es el curso de Historia Americana un estudio de unos grupos étnicos?

The not-mexican-independence-day 5 de Mayo

While in Mexico only one state out of the 31(yes The United Mexican States has states) celebrates Cinco de Mayo, here in the U.S. its celebrated nationwide by anyone that is of Hispanic, Latino, or Mexican descent, or by anyone who loves the Mexican culture, food, Mexican beer, mariachi and fiesta! 5 de Mayo is not Mexico’s Independence day, Cinco de Mayo is Fiesta! time, just like on St. Patrick’s Day you don’t have to be Irish to party, you don’t have to be Mexican to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. With this in mind, its 5 of clock, I mean Fiesta time!

Fun Fact: México’s Independence is September 16.

April, 23, 2010 – In Arizona, Gov. Jan Brewer signed a bill into law where it is considered a crime under state law to be illegally in Arizona. President Obama criticized the law as ‘misguided’. Obama said the new law could violate people’s civil rights and he instructed the Justice Department to see if it is legal.

This Saturday April 17th, 2010 “50 members of the National Socialist Movement waved American flags and swastika banners for about an hour.” during a neo-Nazi Rally (Source: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36618626). The reason for their “patriotism” is that they were protesting agains illegal immigration in downtown Los Angeles. They say ignorance is not related to a persons level of intelligence and level of education, but you really have to wonder when you hear of ovents like this one.

500 is the number of the counter-demonstrators that were protesting against the white supremasists neo-Nazi. Five counter-demostrators “were arrested on suspicion of throwing items, police said.” (Source:http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36618626)

In this melting-pot of a country how can there still be racial hate?
