We are facing crimes like bribe, snatching, theft, robbery, murder, drugs on daily basis. There should be place/website where we can put the information about such incidents happened to us or in-front of our eyes.

Why is it needed

People hesitate to report incidents to police, as its hectic, time taking and some times money taking too. If we provide a platform to public, they will at least start reporting about incidents and a database will be managed on the basis of those real incidental reports, which might be useful for not only general public but also the security agencies can get information from that website too, for analyzing crime ratio in certain areas.

Howdy folks, here I am covering the 8th Conference on Innovation Journalism live from the Stanford University. Expect to read about some interesting talks.

According to IJ-8 ‘s mission:

“….Our handsets are feeding us information from the Net, and it feeds the Net information from us, by us, about us.

We are becoming a part of a growing collective intelligence, which is conscious about space and time. This collective intelligence has an infrastructure: search engines enable people to find information, and social network applications enable communication between people, together enabling people to make collective research, collective reasoning, collective decisions, but also enabling fragmentation of these things, by empowering each single user.

It’s farewell to oblivion, information is no longer forgotten, and the access to information is becoming less of an issue than access to attention…..”

Read more about what IJ-8 is all about here.

What is it

It is proposed that a not-for profit venue be established to resolve business disputes, particularly for parties located in different countries. Rapid, low-cost arbitration services would be offered by single panelists or a short bench along the lines of WIPO’s UDRP procedures, although with clearer procedures and improved selection and training to encourage consistent and fairer outcomes.

Pre-qualified panelists could be selected randomly or with the approval of both parties in disputes, perhaps through a right of rejection for a defined number of panel nominees, e.g., 6-10 rejections allowed for each party in a dispute. Panelists would normally have some experience in the industry wherein each dispute originates.

Evidence and pleadings could be submitted electronically, with no personal appearances. Confidentiality could be allowed for discrete pieces of evidence, but decisions rendered would be released publicly.

Speed and fairness would be keystone features of this virtual venue.

Panelists would be provided with training in commercial contract law for each of the nations where disputants may be located. Annual refresher training of 6-8 hours would be a pre-requisite for remaining eligible to serve as a panelist. Additional training could be provided to assist panelists understand the technologies, terminologies and business practices in the industries where they may be called upon to resolve disputes.

Why is it needed

Without real-time dispute resolution opportunities, business relationships can break down completely, causing hardships for all the parties and stakeholders that relied on a contract being implemented as originally intended.

Disputants in court cases often find that the length and cost of engagement in those venues is prohibitive and ultimately produces unsatisfactory results.

It is anticipated that the client pool for an arbitration service will quickly expand to become a global service.

Where is the money

The operation of an alternate dispute venue would provide substantial economic advantages to the business communities it served by raising the confidence of customers that disputes could be resolved quickly and cheaply.

To preclude potential conflicts of interest in the way cases are brought, the entire operation would need to be operated as a non-profit entity with high levels of transparency. Initially it could be in-but-not-of an industry association. To help spin off the entity to an independent non-profit organization, assistance can be sought from bilateral and multilateral aid agencies such as the Asian Development Bank. Outside organizations can also assist in training of panelists.

Many times we do need of prints at home or anywhere. Print service will be at multiple cities available locally.

So when someone need prints (black, color, size) etc based on available options, he/she puts the order online, upload his/her document and do the payment that’s it.

Print service will ship the printed copies to the designated address within said time.

***The only hurdle in this idea is payment collection.

Why is it needed
Because not everyone can have a dedicated printer. Also no one can have black and color printer at the same.

Where is the money
Simple, provide the print service and charge reasonably.

What is it

Airlines in the domestic routes, during the hours of Fasting in the month of Ramadan, still have food available for all passengers. Hotels and restaurants all have left over food by the time they close for the night… There might be a lot of other areas that have food and drink that may go to waste, which could be recycled and used to feed the plight of the hungry – even beyond the victim of the Flood, there is a great deal of hunger that could be resolved from the existing amount of food that is wasted through the food distribution channels.

Perhaps another “sastaa tandoor” isn’t what is needed – perhaps it is a group of people or organizations that can manage the supply-chain and logistical challenge of having this food collected and sent to the areas or communities that will consume it.

Why is it needed

Lots of wastage – This is a ‘solution’ that is needed even after the Flood crisis is under control.

Where is the money

Recycled effort and resource

Title

Give food handouts to the people on the streets, instead of money.

What is it
If you can keep a box of “tikki pack” of biscuits or other nonperishable items, you’ll be able to give a handout of food to someone who is hungry. Being the month of Ramadan, you could keep dates in your car, but they tend to spoil so you’ll need to be careful.

Why is it needed
While relief efforts for the victims of the Flood are ongoing, this request is actually for those of us who are still at home. There are still problems of hunger and poverty and there are many “victims” of both predicaments all around us. It doesn’t take much to make sure that the people who’ll approach you at every traffic light will not go away COMPLETELY hungry.

Where is the money
A box of 24 packed biscuits range from Rs.48 to Rs.100 – that’s at least 24 mouths you can help keep from absolute starvation…

Why is it needed

The biggest problem with national crises, be it a natural disaster or the ongoing floods, is the lack of communication. People on the ground simply don’t have the time or ability to tell the rest of the community what is needed; the rest of the community, never having been in the situation, has no idea what kind of ‘relief’ is required, often sending useless items.

We don’t need another Facebook event page where we guess what is needed – we need the real voices to be activated and represented in an organized manner.

Where is the money

No money required for the effort..

Facebook seems to give quite a power to socialization however I wonder every day how good it would be if I be able to search for a person’s prospective towards life based on chronological view.

Organized as a horizontal line on the computer screen and events appearing on that time line with date/time (more you zoom in the line, more deeper you go as from years to months to days, so on). What if I be able to find the life time happenings of a person aligned on the timeline. A horizontal line on the computer screen explaining everything.

Why is it needed
Since that will bring the whole paradigm of one’s life in a single liner :)

Where is the money
That is my initial question. Where is the money?

Ideas Hut blog has been mostly used to bring to you live coverage of different Tech events. This time, the event to be live blogged is one of its kind and is dedicated to women entrepreneurs from different sectors.

Historically, majority of women in Pakistan have had no form of savings other than their jewelry. Culturally, they have kept their money in gold or cash and if the latter, are often tempted to spend it. In addition, many have not kept it in banks for fear of interest (riba) and/or they have lost money in the past through fraudulent schemes. For this reason, LADIESFUNDâ„¢ is available in Shariah-compliant investment advisory services as well as capital protected structures.
LADIESFUND™ is Dawood Capital Management Ltd.’s way of enabling women to have a financial savings plan in which they make routine payments, where they can slowly but surely build a nest egg for themselves. Some LADIESFUND™ investors have for the first time in their life been able to buy a substantial purchase for themselves or a gift for their spouse with their own money because routine savings adds up.

LADIESFUNDâ„¢ Women’s Entrepreneurship Awards builds on this concept and honors women who are making a difference with their lives, both for themselves and for others. This unique forum provides like-minded individuals with the great opportunity for them to network, and more importantly find kindred spirits.

The 2nd LADIESFUND™ Women’s Entrepreneurship Awards are to be held on 12th March 2010, at the Mohatta Palace Museum to celebrate the excellence of outstanding women entrepreneurs of Pakistan. The awards will be attended by leading women from all walks of life.

The chief guests at this year’s awards ceremony will be Ms. Nasreen Jalil & Ms. Khushbakht Shujat.Elite panel of judges for the awards includes Barrister Shahida Jamil, Ms. Frieha Altaf, Ms. Ameena Saiyid, Ms. Sameera Raja and Ms. Rehana Saigol, who will be selecting exceptional Pakistani women. These special women will be honored with prizes for their outstanding achievements and vision as entrepreneurs.

The 2010 Award categories and their respective criteria can be viewed here.

For live coverage of the awards ceremony, check out this space on Friday 12th March, 3:15 PM PST (Pakistan Standard Time GMT +5)

A social SFM/CRM platform needs to be built to address the immediate needs of businesses to communicate with customers — where ever those customers find themselves.

Emerging (competing) social SFM/CRM packages fall short by neglecting voice channels, for which there are decades of established processes and procedures, including metrics and reporting. But the social media industry appears unfamiliar with voice and blended voice/non-voice work.

Why is it needed:

Within four or five years, all businesses will be engaged in social media and will be using social media for marketing and customer relationship management (CRM). Social marketing and social CRM will extend across multiple contact channels — often for the same help ticket.

No CRM platform exists today that can properly manage CRM and sales force management (SFM) across multiple social media platforms and communication types. Management would include tracking, interaction monitoring, task-prompting and metrics collection. It would also archive interactions and assign marketing and CRM responsibilities.

Where is the money:

The platform could be marketed on a subscription model similar to RightNow for CRM and SalesForce.com for SFM.

With a technology platform in place, the developer would be in a position to offer services such as outsourced CRM/SFM.

Customer service is a multi-billion dollar industry. A company that develops a strong technology platform ahead of its competitors should be able to grow quickly and establish unique competitive advantages. I hope that I can help.

Artistes and the music companies should look for some out-of-the-box solutions rather than means to herald the end of the free-download era.

For instance, they could offer high-quality downloads, for free, on their own websites. Revenues could be generated by inserting 10-second long advertisement-jingles in the mp3’s (or files of a similar digital format) before or after the piece of music that a user wishes to download, in addition to the advertisements displayed on the site.

Why is it needed

Artistes and music companies lose a lot of revenues on account of online music piracy.

Where is the money

In the advertising revenues earned through the ‘spots’ inserted in free music downloads, in addition to the money earned through online advertising.

What is it
Could we please have applications that will allow documents and screenshots to be printed from phones?

Being able to print single and multiple SMS text messages from phones is needed too, along with the ability add date/time stamps and other transmission data associated with each message.

Why is it needed

Many people do not need a computer very often. Mobile devices are evolving quickly and are now able to deliver almost everything — email, ecommerce and document management. But not printing.

Unlike conventional computers, we are not able to make a permanent record directly from mobile devices. Or print emails, attachments and other documents. Even SMS messages can have value — as receipts, permissions and records of formal interactions.

Retail and B2B sales will bring in revenue. Another source of revenue can be from manufacturers of printers, who would bundle mobile-printing applications in with their printer products. Printer manufacturers generally sell their hardware at a loss, with revenue earned on the sale of ink. The more that people use their printers, the more money the printer manufacturer earns.

The number of mobile devices vastly exceeds the number of computers. By distributing applications that allow printing from mobile devices, printer manufacturers would greatly expand their market size, especially for portable and lower-end printers.

Where is the money

A printing service could be offered on a per-use or subscription basis. Mobile device users could forward important documents to the printer service, which would print documents and bill against senders’ cellular accounts. This service could be offered by phone stores, Internet cafes and even by cellular carriers themselves.

Perhaps print functions (or portions thereof) could be pre-loaded onto SIM cards, memory cards and USB jump drives to speed distribution.

Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) is the next generation IP protocol. It will enable everyday appliances to have their own IP addresses — including printers. Ipv6 will make it easier for users of mobile devices to send documents and transaction records to printers and to control how those items are printed.

A premium feature could be print-to-archive or print-to-file for mobile devices, largely utilizing cloud storage. Cell phones have limited capabilities to store (and no capability to archive) SMS messages. This forces cell phone users to delete SMS messages and SMS exchanges that may be needed later.
