Product design typically refers to the process of an effective generation and evolution of ideas which leads to the invention of new advanced industrial products. Those who are engaged in product design conceptualize certain ideas and make them tangible by inventing new products through a systematic approach. Today, there are several digital tools that enable these industrial designers to communicate, conceptualize, and then evaluate concepts in a much more convenient and quicker way. Although product design and industrial design are often used interchangeably, it basically refers to the process which helps attribute an artistic form and function in any craft design when mass production of goods occur.

Steps Involved in Product Design:

* First analyze the problem at hand without considering the solutions. Writing down the problem is the best way to get down to designing a solution for it.

* Write down all the requirements needed for creating a product. These may include the retail price, the object size, features of the product in question (like whether it needs to be waterproof or whether it needs to have batteries to work, and so on). This list helps the industrial designers to generate new ideas for the products.

* Brainstorming session follows where the ideas are sketched out and elaborated upon. The drawings may not be perfect. These are only made to investigate the designs for any flaws. The industrial designers at this stage interact with their clients to discuss ideas and you may not sign a contract with them for such services rendered.

* When a good idea evolves, you need to discuss it in details with the product design team. The industrial designers usually create a three-dimensional design on computers which shows the design in details. At this stage, the idea is either accepted or rejected.

* Once the concept has been finalized, the industrial designers next create three-dimensional models of all component parts, elaborate on design problems, make drawings for assembly of each part, and locate suppliers for the purchased components.

* Finally, the product design is subjected to testing where the product may be sent to few clients for feedback or to a laboratory for professional testing. Ideally, those not a part of the process should be asked to test the product to render an unbiased opinion.

* In the end, the design once approved is sent for manufacturing in facilities determined by your industrial designers.

Industrial design is essentially a blend of applied art and sciences in which the usability of products, ergonomics of using them, and their aesthetics can be enhanced to boost sales. The industrial designers seek to create and execute solutions for marketing and brand-development purposes by working on the form and usability of certain products. When you design a new invention, it is an eureka moment in history because it is perhaps the most ingenious and rewarding ways to earn money. As you know, each day I come up with at least 2-original thoughts, and rather than making lots of little articles describing this week's new innovative concepts, I thought I'd share with you 6 or 7 of the ideas, all packed into one article. Why? To help get your intellectual mind thinking, and put you into the creative flow, now then, let's begin with:

Regenerative Compression for Air-Compressed Driven Cars - Concept Idea Considered

We are all aware of regenerative braking systems which use the automobiles deceleration to create a friction style energy generation to keep a hybrid or all-electric car's batteries charged. Well, what if we used such a regenerative scheme to turn a compressor motor instead. How so you ask? Well, when braking, the wheels turn the compressor wheel to re-compress the air tanks, which could later used for power, and/or to charge the battery or run a generator for electrical equipment on the automobile.

There have been some successful attempts at an air-compressed motor to drive a car, bicycle, and motorcycle. Although these previous attempts have been less than stellar for range, such technology does make sense for some applications. Well, what if we used this concept to increase the range by giving back the wasted loss in kinetic energy during deceleration just as we do with current hybrid and electric cars? Compressed air does hold promise given the right motor and transmission set up. Okay so think on that.

For Number Two; I'd like to talk about the Apple iPad, Amazon Fire, and other popular tablet personal computing devices. What we clearly need is "iPad Holder Attire is Needed for All Occasions," in fact, there was an interesting article in Fast Company Magazine in September of 2001 titled; "For Every iPod, There is A Hammer Pair of Pants" which talked about the normal evolution of products to fit the changes in our society. It depicted a pair of pants in one of the scenes pitted against another pair of ugly yester-year denim pair of shorts; the newer version with an extra large pocket, which coincided with the perfect size for an iPad.

More and more folks are taking their tablets with them everywhere they go, just as they now are fully mobile with their smartphones. With so many folks on the go, and computing in a mobile fashion, isn't it about time that folks started making a fashion statement about their trendy use of personal technology also? Perhaps use graphene coatings, or electromagnetic induction techniques, or even solar to power up and keep the tablet charged as a docking station?

Okay so, how about another concept or invention for you today; let's call this Number Three. What about an "Electronic Sensor to Outsmart the Brain Fart?" How so you ask? Well, it is widely known by those who study such things that if someone is doing a specific task for any given amount of time, eventually, they will make a slight mistake, and interestingly enough scientists using fMRI, EEG, and NanoSquid brain scanning technologies they can actually predict when.

All we need to do is to miniaturize these components and connect them to equipment, computers, cars, smartphones, military fighter planes, etc, and have such a device send out a pulse of a hyper alert brain wave just prior to the mistake occurring.

Number Four: Next up, I'd like to enlighten my reader that ultra-sound created by large wind-turbines tend to thicken the air around them, which is a good thing for the next wind turbine in that now modified relative wind. However by thickening the air, it also allows molecules in the air to align and combine at a faster rate.

Therefore pollution air particles are more likely to form also, thus we need a set of wind turbine blades which produces little or no ultrasound. In fact, we should be shooting for near zero, because making noise of any type is wasted energy. There are some designs which produce less ultra-sound but that typically isn't the case with the extra-large wind turbines now in use, or those in very large wind farms currently.

Speaking of which let me bring up another point of contention and ask a question, one you may not know the answer too, nor probably ever considered; "Do Cell Towers Cause a Thickened Atmosphere Near the Surface?" The answer would be yes, but how much is hard to say. If we want to reduce frequency pollution and the inadvertent combining of air pollution molecules, we should be thinking here.

No, I am not done with this week's original thoughts, so here is Number Five. I'd like you to consider another interesting concept; "Laser Scaffolding Scheme to Collect Earthquake Wave Energy Worked - Now What?"

You see, he'd read a piece in Christian Science Monitor on April 18, 2011 titled; "Building - Absorbing a Quakes Effect," by Staff Writer Chris Gaylord which discussed a new building technique to allow elasticity with a "fused approach to mitigate, or concentrate, damage..." when a light bulb went off in his head.

You see, he reasoned that the elastic steel cables could be substituted with free-electron particle laser beams crisscrossing an area surrounding an Earthquake fault, but first he had to put those calculations together, with some other scientific data he'd read about measuring minor tremors due to fracking techniques now used in the oil and gas industry.

Now then, one of the diagrams in the Christian Science Manager showed how the structural pieces were designed to break in a way that protects the building from falling and re-fuses it together, holding it up-right. Okay so taking this idea, what if we built an artificial high-powered frequency grid using some long stakes driven into the ground and created a grid-gate to bounce the S and P waves away preventing the major shaking? Can it really be done, how much power is needed, do we have the technology? Hard to say, but nothing is impossible when it comes to American Technology.

Number Six: here is another nifty idea and concept for my last innovative invention; "The Futuristic Holographic Retail Displays Are Cool," and they are cool because they will interact with your smart phone, which will have a 3D rendering of your body, and it will be able to interface with the retail clothing store's computer to display you in a hologram before your eyes, wearing the outfit you'd like to try on.

In other words, no more dressing rooms, no more store shrinkage from theft, and the clothes you buy will have never been worn, not even to try on in the dressing room. Imagine that, no better yet, go invent that and then make millions, because people will buy it, and all you need is the App, and an IBM spectral imaging projector to sell that concept to the retailers - done deal. Indeed, I hope you will please consider all these new thoughts of the week.

Great ideas are often conceived and built with the creativity of mechanical engineers. The Industrial Revolution would not have happened if it weren't for the ideas mechanical engineers who were able to make a dream or idea into a reality, such as the steam engine. The steam engine was essential in transforming society from being primarily agrarian to becoming more centralized in cities. The various designs and implementation of steam engines invented and improved upon by mechanical engineers did this by keeping factories producing products in quantity and at prices people could afford.

As the Industrial Revolution gained momentum raw products had to be harvested or mined at an ever increasing rate and shipped to a processor that could refine the products for further use. From there it was shipped to a manufacturer that would take the refine material and create goods and products. Once built the final products had to be shipped to the buyers and consumers. From start to finish, these products had to be transported across the nation as cost effectively as possible which meant shipping by either boat or rail.

A stand of trees are cut to become lumber, the lumber is built into a ship, and the ship is used to deliver cargo across the globe. Iron is mined, shipped to an ore processor, smelted into steel, forged into lengths of rail and laid as thousands of miles of track. The steel is also used to build steam engines that power the ships or the driving component of a steam locomotive. Together these machines transport even more raw materials, finished products, and people, and the industrial revolution grows ever larger. Every single aspect of these developments was made possible by the ideas, designs, discoveries and devotion to excellence of countless design and mechanical engineers.

It takes more than creativity to be a mechanical engineer. It also requires a strong understanding of mechanics, physics, kinematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and energy in order to take a product from one simple state and fashion it to work alone or with other products as an efficient and cost effective invention. These elements are as necessary to the mechanical engineering tool belt today as they were back in the mid 1800s. Today, engineers continue to make the magic happen through their creative and mechanical ingenuity.

In addition to creating much of what we now take for granted (cars, trains, planes, lights, air conditioning), mechanical engineers can improve processes and make them more energy and cost efficient and environmentally friendly. Not only does the work of engineers influence what we use, how we live and the state of our environment, but mechanical engineering can also influence and improve our health. Doctors may perform the surgery or dispense the medications that save your life, but somewhere along the line an engineer designed and built the devices required to allow the doctor to perform their skills to the best of their abilities. From simple items such as cotton balls and tongue depressors to huge scanning and imagery machines and computer controlled robotic surgical devices, countless engineers have been involved in design, development and manufacturing. Medications are invented, designed, and refined by chemical engineers. Devices to create the pills as well as the packaging and distribution of the medication is designed and built by engineers. So, the next time you visit the doctor, understand they are able to do their job as quickly and efficiently as possible because of the creativity and design inventiveness of many gifted engineers.

How does it all happen? Mechanical engineers take ideas and build them into reality by using the principles of mechanics and energy. After making an idea tangible, mechanical engineers look at what might be the best, most efficient and reliable way of recreating the idea for mass production. This mass production of an idea is referred to as commercialization. After a period of time it is often found that an existing product can be improved upon. Sometimes a product is found to have uses in areas it was not initially designed for and is re-engineered to fit the new application. Oftentimes it's a mechanical engineer or engineering team that finds a way to make something great even greater. It's their ability to also look at the efficiency of a product to determine if it's viable, and to investigate and design production methods that may determine when a product we want or need is available.

Isn't all engineering mechanical in some way? No. Some engineers design streets, bridges and other elements of transit systems. Others focus on what lies beneath the ocean and how to best obtain it for our use or even how best to explore what lies beneath the surface of the ocean. Types of engineers include: nuclear, chemical, civil, manufacturing, environmental, computer/software and more. The field of engineering is only limited by imagination, and imagination has no limits.

Description: Gasification +Fischer-Tropsch is most likely the best route to sustainable biofuels. It plugs right in to the current system without the financial problems of building all those hydrogen cars. Even better is the distributed model i have in mind - imagine if we were able to sell the devices themselves...

Presentation: Well, its rather simple - we gasify the organic material, turning it into CO+2H2, filter the S out, and send it to the F-T reactor. After some membraneous filtering, one has gasoline (and water that is reused - addition of water unnecessary in full version)
Fields of application: Chem Eng. - Sustainable fuel production

1: No having to build expensive hydrogen cars or solve their problems. We dont have enough platinum left on this planet to build the things.
2: 1.00 a gallon gas made from biomass and garbage
3: Regulation of the carbon cycle by methods only tangentially related to the device, such as composting human waste to grow biofuel plants such as switchgrass and hemp.
4: Eventually, the plastics made using full-scale plants will close the cycle when properly recycled.
5: If a fibrous plant such as hemp is used, clothing could enter the cycle as well.

Title
AIR THERMAL ENERGY COMPLEX

The problem the inventor wanted to solve:
The inventor want to solve the problem of global warming, dependency on fossil fuel like coal
and the problem of supplying fresh water to the ever increasing population.

Description:
This project is aimed at producing electricity by using the vast heat content of atmosphere. The scheme is basically aimed as producing electricity by extracting heat from atmosphere. In this project, this is done by using mechanical arrangement similar to heat pump. This system is used to squeeze energy from huge volumes of air and to produce temperature difference by which energy can be produced. It is to be noted that fresh water and salt are added bonus to this project, as salty brackish water can be used in this project. This is done by vaporizing water inside an enclosed container named “Evaporator” with the help of a vacuum pump. As the vacuum pump sucks air from the container, the water inside began to evaporate and in this process collects its latent heat of vaporization from water. For that reason, the water inside becomes colder and heat began to flow in from outside. Thus in effect, the latent heat of vaporization of water is collected from outside atmosphere. In the open-cycle OTEC, vapor is produced in the same manner and on experiment it was found that to have vapor flow rate of 1 kg/sec, power needed at the vacuum pump is 3 KW. Whereas, the latent heat embedded in 1 kg of vapor is 2.31 MW. After the vapor is produced, it is heated further with adiabatically compressed, hot air. After heating the vapor in the Boiler, the hot, compressed air is passed through the Evaporator to give up its residue heat to the water inside. The process is the same as that of common heat pumps sold in the market. And finally, the temp. diff. between the Boiler and the Condenser is created by suddenly releasing the compressed air at the Condenser. And thus a system of real efficiency of >50% is created.

Presentation:
This invention looks just like any thermal power plant with some additions to it. In short, it may look like a hybrid of land based open cycle OTEC and thermal power plants.

Fields of application:
Electricity generation for utility services and other industrial purposes in the tropical and subtropical areas of the world. Especially for islands, this can be very helpful as it will reduce their dependency on imported fossil fuels and can supply sufficient fresh water.
Advantages
1)The electricity produced by this technology will be cheaper.
2)No question of any kind of emission can arise and it is clean.
3)It can be made with present state of technology.
4)The cost of making a plant is less than that of a thermal power plant.
5)The basic source of energy is unlimited.

Stage of development
It is still in just design stage, no prototype has been built yet. But the processes, with which the technology is comprised of is tested and confirmed.

As no prototype has been built, so there is no question of documentation. But the processes, which together make the technology, have been documented. Data about evaporation of water by vacuum pump is documented in the website of experiment by Dr. L.A.Vega in http://www.otecnews.org/articles/vega/07_landbased_OTEC.html. Effectiveness of counter current heat exchange is documented in websites about Maisotsenko cycle.

In each of the above mentioned instances, innovation, innovators & positive thinking met, challenged and overcame negative & myopic people - the type that go through life blocking light and avoiding anything that sounds iffy. Not every idea deserves to be supported. But I am driven to total distraction when ideas are blown off because they do not follow a well-known business model, scientific/engineering criteria.

The Great American Dream was based on the idea that the government should only govern and let businessmen do business. This let out the creative streak in USA which catapulted it to the top.
