Marking your territory

It is considered taboo to actually mark what’s mine, and what’s yours in an official manner. No matter where the place might be, including schools, workplace, homes, etc. Simply because of the potential perception one might give others based on this action alone. This seemly innocent, harmless and also trivia action could, in actual fact, lead to a whole lot of other unrelated events.

Ever since ancient times, humans had all along tried to mark their objects and resources. Be it by drawing out the lands they think they owned on a map (lands are owned by the Earth, not governments), sending their armies to protect it or even shouting loudly with signs emphasis to any potential innocent trespassers that they are near ‘my’ land, my place, where I rule it.

Not forgetting, also there are some people who grew jealous of others with vast amounts of objects and land that they tried all their means to obtain them. And by ‘all means’ also too, include sacrificing their own life. This is by what now The Hague termed it ‘conflict of interest’. It is a phrase so easy to misuse, to get what you want officially, albeit via an unethical manner. This lead to wars after wars, renaming of empires, dynasty, country names like Roman Empire to the Ottoman-Empire, Czechoslovakia to the now Czech Republic and Slovakia. It thus can be concluded that now it is only human nature to be envious of others and thus be greedy, trying to get more land/resources from others.

And thus now, by trying to mark your territory officially is now deemed to be of having a hostile personality, which makes you anti-social, and not peace loving. Elaborating further, it means you have a problem with yourself and others. Other’s would be very mindful of your each and every movement.

However, being humans, each and everyone would still love to have a clear, but a non-official line of what’s mine and yours. By not labelling or telling others this is mine, but by brands and model. One fine example? Stationery. Stationery, although cheap, is a vital tool to mark your territory. For you see, having our stationery all over the place translate to owning the whole table (in a shared office). It also is a sign of your influence all over the workplace. And being humans, we are afraid of sharing and also using the wrong type of stationery. Thus, I use a MUJI pen to mark that it’s mine. Firstly, few people in my class uses MUJI products. Secondly, MUJI is a product which I love to use. Thirdly, I can’t imagine using other non-MUJI products. Give me a pilot pen anytime, and I shall throw it straight in your face on the floor.

Till now, using my own type of stationery and having others knowing that I uses such stationery will actually trigger some receptors in their brain, that I’m using MUJI and so, please do not use MUJI, unless you want to copy me. And be a copy-cat bitch who is such a slut, and without their own fixed opinion to even stationery choice. Fuck off.

When one hear of another using such brand of stationery, you would go compare if they uses the same brand. If positive, be friends together, so as to achieve a win-win situation where you two can use each other stuffs without conflict. Because I believe you had invest vast resources into being unique and use this type of stationery. Else, be creative to further distinct what’s yours. Like changing the pen tip colour to yellow. This means it is unique in the sense that it is not store-bought direct, and you had customised it completely.

Ultimately, at the end, please keep your stationery well, and not lose it. Then, you will not falsely accuse others of stealing your stationery. Like in my case, a parker pen.

Many years ago, I’m the only person using Parker Pen (till some copy-cats came along). Thus I did not make it a point to actually mark it is mine. One day, I lost my pen (which is so sad) and I tried searching for it in the classroom, but to no avail. Until a month later, I saw my pen in a fucker’s pencil case. I immediately snatch it away from the stupid fucker (I knew the fucker well that he’s too poor to even buy a pilot G2 pen, much less a Parker) and put it in my pencil case. Sure enough, the fucker did not make a fuss. Because if he report the theft, no one would believe him, since he’s so poor. I think he knew I took the pen back, because he gave me the death stare whenever I talk to him.

I realised why he would take the pen and use it for himself. Because I did not proclaim I’m using a Parker pen, thus, when I lose a pen, anybody could just shout across I’m too, using a Parker pen. Thus now, I make it a point that I’m using MUJI pens, thus, if they found any MUJI pen (or pens acting like MUJI), they would first, ask me if I lose any MUJI pen, before asking others. However silly this ‘strategy’ might sound, it sure is effective, into knowing your pens are safe and sound if you lose it in the classroom.

Is this really the outlook of the future?

Being part of an obedient citizen in this sunny country, 1Km up of the equator means everything. Having to put up with the weather, the humidity, the people (which are assorted, seriously), the transport, the class system and almost everything. For the one thing the citizens in this country is mostly famous for- being stuck in the same social class in their whole life.

No doubt there are the aspirants, who aspire to ‘upgrade’ their social status. But how many of them could actually achieve that dream? Well, in the bygones past, it is possible. With taxi-drivers parents or dishwasher mother with a father who sews clothing at some garment factory lying in the central part of this sunny country-state, saving every penny whenever possible (after spending numerous amounts on gambling and drinking) to put their children into further education. And when I say further education, I meant a university degree, from of course, the NUS. After graduation, they’ll find a nice and cushy job, paying at least $3k a month, with at least 2 months bonuses and medical benefits.

But now? It is almost impossible to even put food on the table if you are a taxi driver. Daily rentals of taxi had gone up to at least $80 (being already very cheap), up from $50 just about a decade ago. Much less to think of putting their kids into university. Aspirants are now few. Who wouldn’t be put off by such high standards of living in this sunny tropic island? Unless your kid is a straight As students who can get into a decent Junior College, attain As for A levels, get a scholarship to study at the local university, secure a job prior to graduation. Know, we knew scenarios are far and few in between.

So, this comes to the turning point- is this what really all students in this country are doing? Focusing on achieving results so as to get a degree and thus have a nice job with 3 months bonus? I’m afraid so. Now, think again. Is there any roles society could play to help reverse this trend?

By and far, the stakes in education are quite high. Because each student gets only a shot in life, in doing well. There is not a single room for any marginal mechanical error, much less human error. Imagine what harm would it does for their well-being if they do not manage to even pass their exams to get into their desired school? It would translate into not getting a certificate, a diploma, a degree, their nice job (and instead, settling into another, not so high paying job).

A job, deemed to be desired or otherwise, starts to cultivate from within the society. Now, if one said he/she’s a primary school teacher, we wouldn’t think much of them. But if one is a lecturer at a university, we would think highly of them, even though both are educators. But with educators comes the facilitators, which helps to widen the gap between the level of this noble profession.

So, it ultimately is the future- getting a degree, and settle into their desire job. Anything less, they shall experience a traumatic experience.

Social Media: The unintended excessive leverage of it

Since the beginning of this new era, government agencies, NGOs, companies, brands, etc had all been busy engaging with their fans, citizens, audiences-via social media platforms. With more of such platforms gaining excessive followers and users, one should really wonder if it is effective at all. Currently, the perception is that to reach out to mass of people at a short time, and with a limited budget, we use social media. What majority of people tend to not remember is that with so much information overloading within our brains, we, the audience are quite sceptical of advertisements and promotions of the various brands and products offering.

Just like the dot com bubble burst almost a decade ago, social media, one day, might prove to be somewhat saturated, causing the downfall of many. Social media, evidently being utilised by local audience since the early 2000s with many using Hi5 and Friendster, later Haboo Hotel and Live windowspace. Now, a majority had migrated to yet another new offering- Facebook. Even though netizens had been using and leveraging social media since donkeys years ago, however, it is not till now they realised how effective social media is. Social media have the ability to mould the mindset of it’s users, usually by other users of social media.

As the word, social media goes, a vital tool to ensure each and every social media application success is first and foremost, people. A person logs onto his social media application accounts (like Facebook or Twitter) is to connect with friends, colleagues, ex-lovers, girlfriend, ex-classmates, etc. And if we apply social media to everyday normal life situation, if their friends uses this applications, they wil bound to follow suit. Because it is of no point If my friend have a Facebook account, but I have a Friendster account. There is no way the both of us are ever going to connect with each other, unless both applications reach a state of cross-platform (which I’m going to cover in another time). Only via cross-platforms, then will social media be truly effective into connecting friends together.

So, the ultimate question is: When will there be a social media bubble burst? And what comes next, after all the exciting hulas and fanfare of social media? How, as some industry leader predicts, change our lifes drastically. For sure, we know social media will not change the way we live, not for another decade, given how the pace of developments is currently right now.

Social media: Recognised as a new trend, but is it now the real norm?

2011, the year social media is finally regarded as a useful and efficient tool. A tool to spread out messages, be it informative or otherwise. Comparison between the use of social media between 2010 and 2011, there indeed lays a difference in the way social media is being use.

When we think of social media platforms, Facebook and Twitter first comes to our mind. Others might include Blogger or Tumblr, and Digg too.

2010, might well be the year most Singaporeans embraced social media. And I’m not just on and about youtube or blogger. For a long time, Singaporeans had well been receiving news via the mainstream source. Sources which are considered the tradition ways, like the radio and newspaper as well as television. Mainstream sources tend to be much more formal than contemporary ones. A good and trusty, perhaps creditable example might well be the Youth Olympic Games (YOG). As every Singaporean knows, this tiny island hosted the first ever YOG in 2010. Have a quick search for YOG 2010 in Twitter. There certainly isn’t much tweets regarding that. It is rather because citizens or netizens uses Facebook. Now, the tides are certainly changing. With more using both Facebook and Twitter as a tool.

Twitter in 2010 sees the foundation for the whatnots in the Singapore local community scene. It arises out a number of fake or some might prefer to term it as parody accounts. Accounts of schools like @therealfakeFASS or @fakeMOE and much more. As a results, this actually incubates and promoted the growth of more @fakexxx accounts. With accounts springing up faster. However, a majority of such accounts becomes inactive, since it is more of a novelty. However, some still remains, tweeting regularly (on a hourly basis) or occasionally (Every day) as well as once in a blue moon (every other day).

The surge in the excessive @fakexxx accounts might well stemmed onto following the bandwagon (of the @fakeFASS). Like all true blue Singaporeans, once we see something interesting, we join in. Thus some created @fakexxx accounts, others simply follows blindly. Some parodies are indeed twitting to followers some of their school culture, others just for the sake of having an account with their school (and perhaps wanting a share of the limelight).

With the rise of some of Singapore most famous twitter accounts comes @Blackalogy, a student (not surprisingly). With more than 17K tweets, and 17.5K followers, it is not a force to be reckon with. Content and quality of his tweets? Excellent, with majority of tweets regarding phrases we understand and comprehend. Also, a majority of his followers are Singaporeans, with a significant amount from overseas (like USA, UK, etc).

Twitter community in Singapore continues to be quite diversify and yet singing in the same tune. The leaders (or so I term them) are more or less the @fakexxx accounts (Mentioning to @fakeFASS and @fakeMOE), @SoSingaporean, @mrbrown, @BvsSg (british VS Singapore culture), and the occasional tweets from Singapore personalities like Steven Lim (ya, he once caused a stir online when he dated a teenager girlfriend). Twitter accounts also tend to stimulate interactions between both followers and the accounts, with the use of the hashtag (or the “#” sign), like #sgfoodplaces which trended at end 2010. This might well be one signs twitter is now gaining popularity in comparison to Facebook.

One of the most important thing such accounts knew from the start is that if they are going to retain their followers, the tweets must be entertaining and of relevance to them followers. Just like any aspiring actors, they must have the appeal to their fans by being of relevance. Like how relevance is of them being to their followers? The quality of tweets, and how often they does that. The subject mattered to them and much more. Although this might be done in jest with the various accounts trying to vie for attention of the followers, but it is might well be good for the twitter community as a whole. Since Singaporeans have nothing better to do and to sit in front of their computer and post accusation stories on STOMP, or bitching about their workplace environment on forums like SGforums and such. It helps channel the negative thoughts into something positive. Everyday or so, be assure of something to trend from them. Be it #changesonglyricstocum or any other types of trend. It helps spur creativity of fellow Singaporeans (who said Singaporeans are not creative?)

2010 had passed, and now onto 2011. 2011 sees more hype on the activity on board Twitter. With Singapore virtually being a wifi hotspot (and it’s free!), majority of young adults having mobile data plan subscription as well as androids or iPhones/iPad/iTouch, they are in easy access to internet, and also, social media.

The first major hyped up event occurring in tweetsphere might well be the infamous Samantha of Holland Village. In case some of us had forgotten about it, here’s a short recap.

Samantha, resides in Holland Village complains on how her fellow Singaporeans dressed shabbily in Bermudas and shorts and t-shirts in Holland Village and made a right fuss out of it on a local radio station. The very next day, she rang in and apologised for her remarks, stating that she refers to some people or something. Now, netizens were relative angry and furious over the remarks of this Samantha and Holland V trended overnight at twitter, at least for Singapore.

The first thing that happens, Singaporeans now refer to social media. Twitter, then hop onto Facebook, where 2 guys created an event to call people to wear shorts and T-shirts to Holland Village on this particular date. Numerous Singaporeans responded, and was so worthy that even the local newspaper had an article on the event the next day.

At least in this case Singaporeans react in the same manner. You notice it, you gossip about it to your fellow friends/colleague/siblings/mother/father/whoever via SMS or telephone. But in this case, you tweet. As for the event part, it is being organised almost entirely via Facebook.

Now about 6 months or less later, another wide scale event occurred in Singapore, also thanks to the rise of social media. But this time, it is organized entirely on Twitter. With the hashtag #cookapotofcurry or #replacesongnameswithcurry this helps trigger a sense of communal living amongst Singaporeans, regardless of race, language and religion, together in a democratic society. With Singaporeans feeling strongly against discrimination of a family not able to cook curry when their PRC neighbour is around, hundreds and thousands of Singapore ‘protested’ by cooking a pot of curry. Soon on twitter, terms like PRC and curry are trending. To the extend where #replacesongsnameswithcurry being trending all over the world, especially UK, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia and more.

And thus as such, social media is the new kid on the block. But it can now be considered as the real norm, since it is no longer new and it’s not a trend. Like it or not, social media is here to stay, for good.

The Void deck is erm so (de)void

The void decks are named rather appropriately, since it functions as a void space. A space devoid of any emotion or attachments from the residence. A place which is where we trespass to reach our block. But did it ever have any other purpose in our daily life, with the exception as a place with the lift lobby and letter boxes. Sure, now for certain flats, there exist convenience stalls like 7-eleven or Cheers, but basically it is still so voided and empty. Like a white weeping soul, waiting in her prime to shine, to be of certain use to society. But, sadly we knew that would never happen.

However, come every now and then, the void deck will be full of colour. With the occasional block parties organised by the Residence Committees, or the place where residence vote for Lift Upgrading projects. The uses of the void deck is quite in a sense, limited. Limiting to only block parties, funerals or the occasional joyous wedding by the Malays. (I’ve still not a single idea why the Malays always organised their weddings there…is it a custom, where you must be married at the place where you stay?)

Between humans. Not just me and the pillars. But you and me, and I and them.

Now with results out, there will be people poking their noses on others results. They might pretend to care, but deep down, you know (i'm sorry for thinking in such a horrendous way) they will gloat on your misfortune if you get bad grades, or undesired grades, or your grades are worse than them. They shall hate upon you if they knew your grades are better than them, or you are extremely happy about your own grades. Whatever, the outcome might be, just stay clear of them, and tell them, my grades should be about the same as yours.

And participant observation (which is kind of patting your head, and rubbing your stomache at the same time). Its where people keep questioning the Whys in life. An example might be why do humans wear their clothes, being neat and presentable when going to work. Why is there a need to wear the blue tie. Why should they leave at 8.05 a.m on the dot to catch the no. 8 bus to oxford? The many “WHYS” and the countless “BECAUSE” in response to it.
That is what i hope to address. And these, are just the starters. Because there’s no What-ifs, so i enjoy doing such things. :)

Once again, we join the mysterious doctor on a hell load of adventure onboard his beloved TARDIS. Picking up from the bits and pieces where it left off. Just some recaps on the first part, where we learnt of the silence and till the middle, we still have no idea what and who the Silence were, why was there a crack in the universe, who is River Song to the doctor, where did the Gangers and Eye Patch Lady left Melody's daughter. In this new episode of 'Let's Kill Hitler', might be one of the more controversial titles of this new series. We've had a story how Daleks are trying to manipulate Earth during WW2, the paintings of Vincent Van Gogh and many more. But the title, though sounded interesting, but did not pack a punch. I'm quite sorry to admit, after years of exposure to Steven Moffat style of the previous Doctor Who episodes like 'The Impossible Astronaut', 'The Big Bang' which clearly delivers and pack a punch, 'Let's kill Hitler' fails to delivers. Although it might be received quite positively, but the screenplay does not revolve much around the killing of Hitler.

The dark suspend over the fate of the Doctor somehow faded. The Doctor knew of how he died. We knew who that little girl was who regenerates herself. We knew the Doctor is not going to die just yet and then. We knew who River Song is, and in actual fact, she is named after herself.

It might be yet another adventure revolving the Pond's family story. With the Doctor, Amy, Rory and River. And how the Doctor died, and who the astronaut we seen at the beginning is. And my guess is River Song. Remember River Song is a time lord, like the Doctor himself is. Add on to the fact where River can no longer regenerate herself, she went to jail for killing someone (the Doctor?), and the blue diary. She also said something like when they meet, they have different memories, and after every encounter, she will forgets more about the Doctor. Because they are travelling in opposite time. Thus I'm certain that River Song killed the Doctor.

Never mind, just stay tune to learn more on the Pond's family weird encounters on board a Tardis, with a random strangers who love eating 'Fish fingers with custard'.

Part three! Night Festival

Again, it's time for the Singapore Night Festival, an annual affair for the past few years. We used to reminisce about the past "Singapore Arts Festival"- which is getting boring year pass year, and also some "fringe festival" like the M1 Fringe Festival- Which is quite nice and interesting, especially "Model Citizen". But while such efforts are nice and thoughtful and sweet [beware of diebetics], but ultimately, Arts Festival or any festival of sort ought to be something which is open for all of the public. And not some theatre performances held indoors, like the Esplanade. Some might say Singapore is a boring place, but i beg to differ. With Flipside, Mosiac, Arts festival, Night Festival, M1 Fringe, Baybeats...and anymore? is it Such Fun (!)

Went to CHinatown with a bunch of people and start to take random photos. Yup, that's how bored we were. Btw, that's a ton of Ws in a sentence

Fourth day of vacations. Boredom had finally strike on me, that I'm so bored that I'm now blogging. It's not that I'm bored or anything-I have stuffs planned out. But the time isn't here yet. I'm not going to be a bunny hopping round and round. Ok, just get straight into the point.

It is now study week, or what I call it recess week for the rest of the poor sods. Studying off like no one business. Hogging seats at coffee joints and fast food chains. But now, it's my vacations. Envious? Well, don't be. Because the most strenuous projects with a pack deadline have been dealt with. I swear, our projects are worse off than that of others. Here's why:

For a module, there's just 1 group project at most. But for a particular module, which Three Letter Acronym (TLA) coincides to that of China Communist Party, there is 2 group projects. One of which is about planning and executing a roadshow of a product- Brands Prune Essence, under the Innershine range. For that roadshow, monies had been spending. On popcorns, shirts, freebies, ice, sampling cups and much more. Time spent on creating Facebook page, videos, event page and many more. All in the high hopes of getting a good grade, and did get a good grade. It was kind of a stupid project. Because at the end of the day, the group is graded based on their efforts put into this project. Like who won't put in effort for something so trivia like a roadshow? And the logistic aspect of the roadshow, is well, traumatic. Moving the tables round here and there, from business school to the entrance of the school. Flying kites. Distributing pamphlets and popcorns. Samplings of the yucky essence. All this are essence of success. And the worse bit is? Numerous groups having roadshow the day before my group. With this stiff competition around, you'll think it is much more like a battlefield. Welcome to this realistic world, where I can't wait to see how you die. But before I see how you die, I must pretend to like you. That way, I will enjoy myself more. And think of the irony at the ultimate end. After slogging guts out for like 3 weeks [well, a long period some might say…] there is the award ceremony. This little ceremony might meant to motivate us students but well…what's the point of it when the prizes are 2 box of the innershine prune essence? And to show how kind and sincere they are, it is going to expire after 2 weeks or so. Such kindness. Such fun. Such motivating. We do know for a fact that schools are under-funded, but this takes it all to a totally new level.

Moving on to the next group project…a how to promote a particular not so famous actress to the 15-25 Years Old segment. Well well well…this prove to be difficult. It ain't easy to turn a mountain you know? It is well terrifying, where a group actually charts out how she should go about doing it. From her 20s to 30s to even 50s. it was detailed, like asking her to get hitched to her Caucasian radio dj boyfriend and have bookclubs. I bet they even have plans for her when she dies. But there was no mention of endorsements of refrigerators at all. Don't they expect her to be ever so popular? Than there goes for Rui En turn to shine. Move over, Joanne Peh, it's now Rui En. Again, this is quite a time and effort consuming project, where student created extensive surveys, online polls, focus groups and more surveys. The best part? It consist of 5-10% of the total marks, and the presentation accounts for 15% of the total grades. Kind of discouraging, eh? Ya, add in such fun! Behind it all.

There too is an individual project on creating a visual for a catering company, Purple Sage. Yup, that is however funny projects were. We should not term it as PBLs- Problem based learning projects, but instead, SBSP- scenario based simulation projects. Sound like some swear word. But the F-word beats it all.

Next, there is another module which is like accounting. Just minus cash inflows and outflows, T-accounts and add in some econs, like fixed cost, marginal cost. And we have such fun! Again, this project prove to be mind boggling. Select a scenario, based on the company chosen and make recommendations how to improve sales, based on reading their financial statement. Sounds cool? NOT AT ALL. Presentation wise, the tutor, felt that a vast majority of presenters have a soft voice. A soft voice?!?!?! He's old and must be hard of hearing.

Next, a module which we love best. Entrepreneur module. Just come up with your own business plan, and there you are, a pass for it. It is hard to fail, and easy to pass. And with a rather funny tutor to boot, this ought to quite a fun module compared to others.

Consumer behaviour. Well, it is kind of a fun module. Where you learn all kinds of funny weird-ish thing. But the project about breakfast is all but fun. Again, a SBSP… to ad on, the project specifications is similar to Marketing Research- to provide recommendations on how to improve breakfast bread spread, Naturel in Singapore markets. Too specific, too difficult. And it must be based on a survey given out to 2000 odd people all by ourselves. So if the recommendation is not on par, than the whole project is gone. Kiss goodbye to great grades. But thankfully, get an A for presentation for MR. J

Lastly, a project on constructing a prototype of a laptop bag and a ironing machine. Sounds fun? Yup, it is. And got an A for that too. Such FUN!

What to do during the vacations?

Some of the place they might go? Bugis, Bugis and Bugis. Perhaps some might head to Marina Sq (there is this bowling centre as well as a Pool zone) or Suntec (arcade of course) or otherwise, Vivocity (a nice GV and more arcade).

But, instead of those places, are there anywhere else? Singapore does, surprisingly have some activities to offer.

Science Centre…cross that out. Majority of the students had been to the science centre. It is akin to an annual tribute.

Sentosa. One of Singapore's most famous attractions. So Expensive and Nothing TO See Anyway. Just the beaches, and USS at RWS. And USS tickets are relatively expensive. I did rather pay $60 odd for a musical at the Esplanade, then to ride in some roller-coaster. The only place to attract me to Sentosa is the POPCORNS. Located just next to Hersey's Chocolate. They do have another branch located at CityLink mall, but I assure you, the one at Sentosa is much better. In taste and quality.

Labrador Park. One of the oldest park in Singapore, way before East Cost and Pasir Ris park. One could fish there too, and have a BBQ. It is nice to be just out of East Coast once in a while. A place if one is interested in the war history of Singapore. A great place to take photographs.

Fort Canning Park. What is there to say about this place? A place for history bluffs to, with numerous war relics on exhibit there. Also, a great place to take photographs.

Cathay Cineplex. Cineleisure, located along Orchard. A place to catch movie, play LAN or just chill. Same too, for the one at Cathay (Handy Road). If you are around Cineleisure, be sure to try Gong Cha…touted as one of the best brands of bubble tea. But, their quality is getting from bad to worse, with inconsistent taste at every stall, from City Square to Central to AMK. Unlike KOI, which is very consistent in being so bland. I'm very prejudice when it comes to KOI. All because I tried their coffee base drink 3 years ago. And I assure you, it is not to my likening. Their Macchiato is too sweet for me, and not milky/creamy enough.

Bugis. "there got Bugis Junction and iluma and Bugis Street". It is completely over hyped and just crowded. Bugis Street is very packed with total strangers pushing and shoving you. And it is one of the short cuts, to get from Fortune tower to Bugis Junction. The only thing nice there is there is this stall smacked right in the centre selling Durian Juice. I'm a real sucker for Durians. Bugis Junction. The tenant mix is still the same. Watson. The Little Match Girl. Converse. The Wallet Shop. And your typical jewelry shop. But food wise, there's tons. QQ Rice used to be there. Swensen's, MOS Burger. Catering to all budget. And there's this arcade (Virtual Land) at the basement. There is this escalator (near MOS Burger) heading to the basement, which I always mistook it to be the supermarket. It is the arcade. Did I mention there is this restaurant which serves excellent pasta at Bugis Junction? Iluma, there's nothing to see there. The food there is not exactly fantastic. Tenant mix is also not that fantastic. Filmgrade is the only saving grace, but I did rather head over to Cathay to catch the latest Hollywood flick.

Get interested in the Arts and Culture of Singapore. Museums are offering free admission to all students, so long as you have a student pass issued by any school in the world. ACM, NMS, SAM. Nice place, and one might fall in love with arts and culture. Get some culture, breath art. Live art. Anyway, the Biennale is here. No harm checking it out?

So…is Singapore a sleepy island afterall? Think it is still a yes, since all the places…you and me sure have visited it before. And at least every other day at some places.

Vacations had just arrived

The journey had been a swift one. With the semester ending so fast and everything ended quite unexpectedly. But there were some points to be made. Friends were made, enemies were never made. Those whom you think aren't the best, prove to be the best. But there were some major events and moments throughout. And here it is:

Awesome-ness comes at a price. Because being awesome will downplay your bitchness level. Thus, please be less awesome and more bitchy [having that said, there is no class bitch in the class): ]. Everyone seemed to have a story to tell each day. Each and every story. It is like if i compiled it to a book, i reckon it would be on the no. 1 chart under the non-fiction categorically.

Irritating arseholes who proved to be arseholes in a fun way. The one who pronounce conzumer. That few who break into sudden movement and singing. The loner who don't hang out with the class, yet is still quite comical. The one with the hand greetings. Those with their guitars. That individual with a talent in mah-jong. This list goes on and on. But the one with the catch phrase "我更你讲hor" surely deserves full marks.

Somehow everyone managed to survive 6 projects. With 2 projects with extremely similar nature, yet cannot be the same. Being sarcastic, add 'such fun!' behind it. And show the V-sign to all the projects and task on hand. Well, that is such fun.

[[[birthdays celebrations]]]

Each and every person birthday is celebrated with at least a cake. Unless it falls during the vacation period, then its too bad. A typical celebration includes, cake, eating at some random place, movie (for some), doing projects and going for a round of drinks. Yup, we play hard, we work hard. The later part is not applicable for certain people.
