Review: Another awesome story by Nicola E. Sheridan. This is actually a short novella (only 65 pages). I read it in a single afternoon. This story, unlike the other two I read, is about a Harpy. She is actually 1/4 harpy, but in this world that doesn't mean that her physical characteristics *had* to be diluted. Harpies are only ever born female, so it is required to breed with males of another species in order to create more harpies. Mimosa Black is a rare harpy in that she actually has primarily a human form. The only parts of her that carry on harpy traits are that she has big black wings, a heightened sense of smell and hearing, and she has periods of intense desire to procreate. This actually is much like an animal in heat, but it does appear that it happens a little more often for harpies than say a dog. Mimosa is unusual in her family since she has a sister and mother who are not pure harpy but are almost in perfect physical harpy condition. This has cause Mimosa to grow up feeling inadequate and useless since she cannot even fly like other harpies.

The entire story centers on her feeling of uselessness and her desire to be physically with her best friend Bo. As far as Mimosa knows, Bo is a human and therefore a completely viable person to date, marry and have kids with. Bo has been in her life for a very long time and has never led her to believe that there is anything more than friendship available to her, but his behavior during this short period of time is actually confusing her. He acts jealous of her sleeping with another man but he won't step up and lay a claim to her. Her thoughts become even more confused when he shows up to a dark magic ceremony in which she is being used as a blood sacrifice against her will. He trades places with her in the sacrifice in order to save her and she can't help shake the feeling that Bo thinks of her as more than a friend. Will they ever be together? Will Mimosa ever find happiness? You ill have to read the story to find out! I thoroughly loved the story. I just wish there was more of it to read.

Review: I absolutely love Nicola E. Sheridan's writing. This is the second book of hers that I have read and I just cannot put them down once I start. I think I might be in love with genie books because of her now. Magical Gains is the precursor to Magical Creations (which you can see my review for at http://www.identitydiscovery.net/2012/02/wordy-wednesday-magical-creations.html and a character interview with Lugh who is ALSO in this book at http://www.identitydiscovery.net/2012/03/magical-creations-interview-with-lugh.html). You do not have to read them in order though in order to enjoy both stories.

This story is about Primrose Brasco who works for the Australian government in the Magical Culture department. She is engaged to a rugby player and also government employee named Ian Beckwith. Both of them are completely human which I am thinking is pretty much a requirement for the Australian government. In this world, Genies are pretty much coveted and hidden. All magical creatures have to register with the government in order for their powers not to be abused and unbalance the economy. No one is allowed to gain fame and fortune via magical means without having to pay a magical gains tax (hence the name of the story). Abdul Imran, the genie of the story is unregistered. He tries very hard not to register because he does not want to be passed along to anyone whom he does not deem worthy. He also could be imprisoned for some of the wishes he has granted in the past. That said, Imran sees Primrose as she passes the antiquities shop that his lamp is being sold at. He instantly is infatuated with her and uses him magic to entice her to come into the store to buy his lamp. Apparently he is normally better at researching the person he wishes to be his master because he was completely unaware that Primrose worked for the government and therefore is completely unable to accept his wishes. He also didn't pay attention to the diamond ring on her hand, which you can guess is a problem for a genie who normally has very close relationships with his mistresses.

Their genie/mistress relationship is strained by Imran's intense desire to be with Primrose and Ian being an abusive and ungrateful fiance. It takes a few months for Primrose to realize that she cannot tolerate Ian any longer. Imran's influence has only the effect of helping Primrose to feel more wanted and show her that she deserves better. Unfortunately, Imran also "helps" his mistress to get away from Ian by magical means and then to flee the country when the government figure outs that she is harboring an unregistered magical being. Things go crazy as everyone Primrose runs into thinks that she is a lady of "virtue" and wants to remove that virtue while Imran goes in search of his lamp. A rogue magician has claimed his lamp and intends to drain him of all his energy, but he must also find Primrose and force her into making her wishes. It get pretty hectic, but you will be engrossed right away and thrilled with the ending! I am looking forward to my next Nicola E. Sheridan read.

Interview with the author, Nicola E. Sheridan:

1. What inspired you to write about genies?
I was inspired to write about Genies because of a biscuit advertisement here in Australia. In it, a girl has a sexy genie and all she wants is a packet of biscuits from him. What a waste, biscuits would be the very last thing I'd wish for... Anyway, it got me thinking that if Genies were real, the Government would find a way to tax their wishes, or magic... and voila "Magical Gains" evolved. 2. What mythologies did you pull from for your stories?
I love mythology, and I spend a lot time researching. For "Magical Gains" I particularly used a lot of creatures from Greek and Persion Mythology (Satyrs, Harpies, Sirens, Manticores etc.) I tend to look at the mythological creatures and the histories surrounding them and develop personalities and tempraments from it, then imagine how they would fit into our society if they were real... I am never bored!
3. Will Primrose really be able to return to work after this adventure?
What a great question! I've never been asked this one before! Yes, I think Primrose could return to work if she wanted to, but chances are she won't want to... I think she'll have other things on her mind.
4. Will Imran have to register now that he has been discovered and is hopefully living happily ever after with Primrose?
Almost certainly. However, if I know Imran and I think I do... I imagine he's playing every trick in the book to still avoid registering, and having plenty of fun while he's doing it.
5. What happened to Ian? With the boss out of the picture, will the government come after him for failing that RMIT test?
Poor Ian, he's such a prat. Without Quillian's protection, he was forced into a short stint in Cerebral Management, to discover the reasons behind his failed RMIT test. The results were inconclusive, so Ian was re-instated as Assistant Manager on the condition he has regular RMIT tests. As a result of his incarciration in Cerebral Managment, he suffered anxiety and depression for while. Under his brother and mother's advice, he reluctantly began seeing a therapist and has started yoga. His father is disgusted, but Ian no longer cares. He is currently planning a trip to an Ashram in India and has quit Rugby.
6. What happened to Omar after Imran left?
Literally as soon as Imran left, Omar picked himself and tried to return his home to some semblance of normality. He was so angry with the situation he blocked all thoughts of Imran and Primrose from his mind. With the help of Phil and Lugh, he re-fortified his house and for a while fell into the old, boring rhythms of his secretive existance. Omar soon tired of this, and began to formulate a plan to alleviate his loneliness. To do this he went in search of a Nephilim, and his search eventually took him to London where he met Antigone Watson... and the rest is in "Magical Creations" :)
7. Do you have plans for a third story in this series? How about one for Lugh? ;P
Yes, actually the third in the Magic Series, is due for release on the 1st of November 2012! (no cover art yet available). It's called "Magical Redemption" and is based on the sub-character of Lucian - the devilishly handsome and mean DemonSpawn (from "Magical Creations"). As for Lugh...well, I think he's developing his own fan-club... and certainly will get his own story one of these days... Thank you Phaedra for having me :)

MyBabyClothes.com Review & Giveaway

I was recently contacted by MyBabyClothes.com to do a review on a piece of toddler clothing. This absolutely could not have happened at a more opportune time. I am helping a friend plan her wedding which is happening in July and I was just starting to think of what I might have Drake wear to the wedding. MyBabyClothes.com carries items such as Tutus, Baby Clothes, Baby Headbands, and Baby Hats. I was able to pick a really cute outfit for Drake to wear. Of course, if it is too hot since the wedding is outdoors, I can just take off the vest. Here is what I picked out:

Isn't the outfit cute? I got it in a size 2T which is exactly what Drake is wearing right now. I am taking a chance that it will hopefully still fit in July because he is just about ready for 3T clothes. In order to really review the outfit and tell if it will be something that will still fit in July, I put it on him this morning. He only wore it for a little while because I was afraid he would want to go outside and then ruin it. Here's what he looked like in it:

As you can see from the pictures, it fits PERFECTLY. He looks so good in it too! I do think that unless Drake hits a huge growth spurt, he will indeed be able to wear it in July. There is a little room to grow and the length of pants has room for his shoes without looking short. He didn't fight me when I was putting it on him and he actually had no problem with wearing it. I bring that up because he wasn't happy when I out him in a similar outfit for Easter. He got used to the clothes, but his initial reaction at Easter was to fuss. He never fussed with this outfit at all. The material isn't scratchy or stuff. The blue button up shirt is a nice thickness. It isn't so think that you would feel like it is only good for cold weather, but it feels light enough to wear even in summer. The pants are very much the same. They aren't super thick or lined. It appears to be a great outfit for any time of year. Just remove the vest for hotter occasions. I think it is going to work perfectly for the wedding and I am VERY happy with the product so far. I will probably write up a mini review with the wedding pictures just to give all my wonderful readers an idea of how Drake handled it during the wedding.

Don’t Get Bullied by Technology
As a parent you certainly will be able to recognize the signs of bullying, right? You will know right away when your child isn’t feeling comfortable with his or her school surroundings—you’ll see physical signs (ripped clothing or a black eye) or sense emotional trouble (afraid to go to school or a change in behavior). But, what if the signs aren’t so obvious, or, even worse, what if the bullying doesn’t stop even when your child is safe inside your home?

Cyberbullying has become one of today’s biggest parenting issues with a staggering 42% of teens having been bullied online--58% of those teens say they have not told their parents or another adult about the incidents. So, while technology has made it easier for our teens to communicate with one another and even with us, it is also providing a new avenue of risk—and one that had very dangerous and sometimes deadly consequences.

While it may be difficult to spot cyberbullying as it happens, there are some things parents can do to keep their teens safe. Here a few of my tips from my new e-book, Safe Text: Protecting Your Teens from the Dangers of Texting:

Use technology to fight technology
There are a wide variety of free and fee-based filtering and blocking software applications that may help minimize the possibility of incidents. I have several of these applications listed in the “Resources” section of my book.

Educate your teens about acceptable online behavior
Teach your teens how to choose online friends wisely and what behaviors to look for that may make it necessary to cut the online ties with some of their acquaintances. Encourage your teens to not respond to a cyberbully and show them how to block people from sending them messages.

Draw up a contract
Make your teen aware that using a cell phone is a privilege, not a right. Therefore, it comes with numerous responsibilities—including always telling an adult when they feel they are being cyberbullied. A sample of a parent/teen contact is available in my e-book.

TAKE A CHANCE ON FATE

Review: I love werewolves. This story is one where werewolves are known to the world as well as magic users, the Fae, and vampires. What would a world like that be like? Well the story doesn't focus on the effect of knowing the supernatural are real has on the world, but rather on how relationships come about when it has been widely accepted. Steph (as she is primarily called in the story) is a normal human who literally runs into Chance, a werewolf, and finds an instant attraction. Steph figures out what he is based on his behavior and some instinct about him. However, Chance also has insight into Steph because it turns out that his human side and wolf side instantly want Steph in their lives. They are what is called True Mates.

The story bounces between their perspectives and has minor moments of other people's perspectives as well. You get to learn a lot about Steph's past because it comes to haunt her. She was married to a human really young and he ran off with almost all of her money. After draining most of her accounts (he thought he had drained them all), he files for divorce leaving her with nothing. Steph struggles to get her life back in order with the help of her good friend Dane. The two of them have even decided to open an internet cafe together. They are in the process of preparing for their grand opening when Steph meets Chance. Chance is instantly jealous of Dane because he thought they were a couple until he learns that Dane actually prefers men like Steph does.

The other perspective we see is from Chance and how he is learning to live with the idea of having found his True Mate. He has to find a way to convince Steph that they are destined to be together before the next mating ceremony which is at first only 15 days away. Luckily for Chance, she doesn't need too much convincing really. But what happens after they accept fate and try to be together? You will be shocked to learn about Steph's true nature and how jealous a werewolf female can be. The ending will shock you and leave you wondering what will happen next? It is pretty obvious there's going to be another book in this series, but you will feel closer about Steph and Chance. I think the next book is probably going to focus on a different member of the pack.

Wordy Wednesday: Choices Book Tour

Review: This story was hard to read at times because it switches between three different main perspectives. Once I got used to it and realized that each chapter was from a different person, it was really cool. I enjoy getting to find out how different characters view what is happening in the story. If you have read most of my character interviews, you know that I very rarely pick the main character to ask questions. I wouldn't need to do that for this story since you get Olivia, Holden, AND Quintus's views.

This story picks up from book one with Olivia having decided to follow the path she was born into, to become a Guardian. Essentially, she is a low level angel except she can die...again. She is reborn on earth as pure heavenly light and takes the shape of whatever her mental image of herself happens to have been when she died. Using her light, she is meant to help those in need on Earth, but only those the High Elder Guardians tell her to help. This is a problem for Olivia. She really didn't want to be reborn into the army of heavenly soldiers that just do as they are told. She thought she would be able to help anyone she found that needed it. She is different from other guardians because she is actually able to sense when someone needs help even if she is not the one scheduled to help that person. Most guardians can only see the ones they are assigned to. Instead Olivia can see everyone's pain and even decipher what is the cause. This is very unusual for a guardian and Olivia is not sure that this power is solely hers or if she is pulling it from her mental/physical bond with Holden.

Holden has spent the last three years waiting to hear that Olivia has returned and, dare I say, praying that she will return to him when she is reborn. He loves her dearly and has no clue that Olivia thought he had betrayed her at the end of book one, resulting in her death. Olivia's pain causes her to shut off their mental connection and to try to move on. She still loves Holden, but he is a Jinni and works for Hell. She's a Guardian working for Heaven. It's a doomed match up. Holden doesn't know that she actually is disconnecting from him and therefore throws everything he has into being the best Jinni he can be. This turns out to put him into a leadership role controlling all the North American jinn. He was really good at his job. Now if only Olivia would return so he could turn away from all his evil ways for her. His fear? Would she be able to accept all that he has done since she left him?

Finally, Quintus tells us the story from another Guardian perspective. He was Olivia's protector before she died and afterwards has been charged to train her in the ways of being a Guardian. The problem is that he started falling in love with her before death and being so close to her now has only made his love grow. He knows she still loves Holden. He knows she is having trouble moving on and being a good Guardian. He just can't stop his feelings which seem to be interfering with her training. On the other hand, Olivia seems to be extraordinarily good at some aspects of their job, so he thinks that she will grasp all the concepts will little help. He's wrong of course.

Where does all this lead us? While they are all trying to not be in love with each other, Guardians are disappearing, possibly dying. It looks like Holden might be behind it and the Elder Guardians have made Quintus and Olivia the chief investigators. Quintus is trying to keep Olivia and Holden apart by not letting Olivia know that Holden is there or that he might be the one responsible. Holden is trying to figure out what Juliet (Olivia's best friend from book one who killed herself) is doing as a Jinni and who she's really working for. Olivia is just trying to make it through each day by learning he job skills and NOT thinking of Holden. It's a hot mess and you will be shocked by the ending! Who is really responsible? Will Holden and Olivia ever be together again? What will happen when Olivia discovers her best friend is alive? Read to find out!

Interview with the Author, Liz Schulte:

I absolutely love all the points of view! It is a very unique way of telling the story. What made you decide to tell it from three different characters viewpoints?

When I wrote the first book Secrets, I wrote it all from Olivia’s point of view. While reading it I discovered the Holden in my head wasn’t the Holden on paper. Olivia very much sees life and her world through rose colored glasses and that made Holden come across as soft, which he is anything but. I decided I would go back and add in his point of view so I could show that the two of them were very much approaching the whole situation from very different backgrounds.

In the second book I needed the multiple points of view because there were multiple storylines happening at once that every character was not privy to. I added Quintus to the mix as the guardian side representative, Holden is the jinn representative, and Olivia still very much finds herself in the middle.
It took a long time for Olivia to decide to be a guardian and when she returns, she really has a tough time handling her emotions. Is that really a change in her personality or is that the result of all of Holden's pent up rage and depression coming through to her? Three years worth to be felt at once would be hard to handle by anyone.

Olivia does have a hard time with her emotions in the second book. It partly has to do with Holden, but it also has to do with the fact she has a lot of feelings about what happened and no time to deal with those emotions. Her life was ripped apart, and she is shoved back into the mix without time to mourn all that she lost. It took her three earth years to decide to come back, but to her it felt like hours. Both Quintus and Holden had time to deal with the aftermath of Secrets and she didn’t. Added to that Holden’s anger makes her somewhat volatile because she has no idea how to do channel and use it to her advantage like he does.
We find out that Juliet made a deal to return as a Jinni if she killed herself. Was she really that upset about Olivia being happy or was she just going crazy like her mother? Will being a Jinni accelerate the disease?

I wouldn’t say she was unhappy about Olivia being happy. Her mental health was already slipping and then she began to feel as if her place in the world was slipping away from her. Not to mention she had a demon whispering in her ear, feeding her fears that she was going to be alone and insignificant. Her illness definitely was a large contributing factor to her ultimate decision. I also think Juliet always had lower self-esteem and was fairly easily manipulated.
Will we ever find out what the person is that keeps setting up the bar illusion for Holden in order to encourage him to be with Olivia?

Yes! That will be explained in Consequences. It all factors into the overall story. A lot of the lingering questions you might have, like what the dreams were about, how they are connected, etc., will be addressed in the final book. As their two lives merge (Olivia and Holden) once again the pieces fall into place.
Will Olivia and Holden's love upset the entire system? Is Olivia even attracted to Holden now that she sees jinn as reptilian in nature?

Well, that’s sort of the question, isn’t it? Is their love fated for destruction or was it destined to be? Once they figure that out the world as they know it will change. I will tell you that she is not repulsed by Holden, far from it. She is angry though. She has a year’s worth of resentment and anger bottled up and having Holden there is too much for her to keep it inside. And as much as he loves her, he has his own resentment about the choices she made.
Do the jinn look reptilian because of the connection to the snake tempting Eve in the bible? If so, that is a great reference.

The Jinn don’t look reptilian, they look like normal people. Olivia feels their cold reptilian nature come through when they are near her. It their connection with hell and demons that causes the repulsion. The snake tempting Eve wasn’t on my mind while I wrote it, but the analogy definitely applies here.
Care to give us a hint about book three? Will Quintus ever have a shot again with Olivia? Will Olivia and Holden be together? Is Juliet going to interfere with Olivia's happiness again? So many questions.

Eeek! Okay I will try to answer these without spoilers. Quintus isn’t ready to give up on Olivia, and he believes he has her best interest at heart. Olivia doesn’t feel as strongly about him as she does about Holden, but he is stable and offers her a chance at a peaceful, uncomplicated life. The fabric of Olivia and Holden’s lives are inextricably woven together. Where one ends the other begins and it has always been so. We haven’t seen the last of Juliet. She will continue to impact Olivia’s life and possibly become a catalyst for character changing events.

What's it like working for Hell?
At first, it was wonderful. Or, at least, it seemed wonderful. If you are a demon, or if you are working for a demon, you get whatever you want: any food you desire, designer clothing, the ability to visit anywhere in the world you want…but after a while, you start to realize that things in Hell are…how shall I say it?...unsatisfying. Take the food for instance. It always looks good, but it all tastes the same: bland and mealy. Hell is also very lonely. Isolating people increases the despair, and Hell is all about despair. So while the designer clothing is a nice perk, there’s no one to show off for, so what’s the point? Not only that, but Helen keeps me working so hard that I have no time for enjoyment. You see, those who rule Hell don’t want people to… Never mind. I’ve already said too much… I think I’ll have to hide this interview from Helen.
You worked for Heaven for a time, can you compare your experiences there with your experiences in Hell?
Like I said, Hell is a very lonely place. Heaven, on the other hand, is all about community. Some people think that if you get to Heaven, you’ll exist like a wise old man at the top of a mountain: all alone communing with nature. Nothing could be farther from the truth! In Heaven, everyone eats together, works together, attends team-building enrichment activities together…you get the idea. It can be very tiresome, especially for someone like me who does not like to sing or hug or drink hot cocoa.
William Darcy tempted you away from Heaven. How did he do it? Was it worth it?
I’m ashamed to admit how easy I made it for him. True, I was going through a rough spot at the time because Heaven was becoming too demanding as far as I was concerned. But even if that had not been the case, William would have swept me away. All it took was a little flattery and a pair of tickets to see the legendary French actress, Sarah Bernhardt play Hamlet. I could have visited Théâtre de la Renaissance by using the otherworld doorways, but to be actually sitting in the audience next to the most handsome, desirable demon in the otherworld was too much temptation for me to ignore. Everyone has their tipping point, and that was mine. Was it worth it? There are times when I’d say no, but every time I see William, I light up all over again.
Are Lilith and William the only succubus and incubus you were working with?
Yes. Typically, succubi and incubuses have enormous egos and they do not mix well. Also, if we put too many together, they get demanding. It’s due to their diva complexes.
What is your impression of Lilith?
I’ll admit that I wasn’t very impressed at first. Lilith does not have her mother’s charming personality, and she has too much of a backbone. However, Lilith is proving to be an adept student. Her shape-changing abilities are superior. I also admit that she’s becoming a good friend. Until now, the succubi have paid very little attention to me. Even Carrie took me for granted. Lilith, however, is a kind soul. Which is not a trait that Helen approves of, but certainly makes my job easier.
At the end, we find out that you have crossed paths with Lilith a couple of times before she became a Succubus. Were you working for Heaven or Hell at the time of her birth? Do you know who her real father is?
Yes, I was employed by Helen at the time Lilith was born. In fact, I was the first one to see her (after her mother and the hospital staff, of course.) I suspect who her real father is, but I’m not completely sure. All I can say for certain is that he’s not one of Hell’s brood. I believe he belongs to the enemy’s camp, but I’ve never been able to prove it.
You disappeared after your last meeting with Lilith. Will we ever see you again?

I admit that I took of rather suddenly, and I regret that I never had a chance to say goodbye to William. I hope to return very soon, but considering the place I’m in right now, I can’t say for certain.

Interview with Vanessa Morgan, author

What made you decide to write a screen play?
In 2010, my short story The Strangers Outside was brought to the screen. The main actor in that film, Pierre Lekeux, is also a producer. He loved what I had done with The Strangers Outside and he asked if I'd agree to write their next feature film. He wanted to jump onto the wagon of the current vampire-craze and he thought that I was the ideal person to bring this project to life. The result is A Good Man that I could best describe as American Psycho with a vampire.
Are there actually plans to produce a tv series or movie from this?
A Good Man is currently in pre-production and will be shot later this year. Most of the cast and crew is already attached to the movie and the production is now arranging camera and other equipment.
I can see this as a tv series more than a movie just because I would expect a movie script to be much more detailed. Which did you envision when writing it?
It's just the contrary. Because a TV series is longer, it takes more pages to write than a movie screenplay. There's no difference in the details that need to be added. A Good Man is pretty much like all other screenplays in terms of description and length. Because one page equals one minute in a movie, the adaptation of A Good Man should be more or less 96 minutes in length.
I actually am having a hard time understanding why Louis decides to fake his death by giving up blood other than to provide closure to Emma and Vincent. Was that his only motivating factor?
Louis never even thinks about faking his death. That would be a bit weird indeed. What happens is that the police is suspicious of him and his vampire support group urges him to leave the country as soon as possible in order not to bring the other vampires in danger. Louis answers that it isn't exactly the right time to leave the country because there are people he cares about (Vincent and Emma) and he can't leave them without saying goodbye properly. The vampire support group accepts that Louis takes his time to say goodbye to Vincent and Emma first, but in the meantime, he isn't allowed to kill any people because that would make the police even more suspicious. The problem with vampires is that their bodies degrade quickly if they're not drinking any blood. If this goes on for too long, this will end in a state in which the vampire will still be conscious, but unable to move his limbs. As Louis finds himself unable to leave the people he loves, he is getting himself into that state. He's not faking it. And he doesn't want to be ill and disabled either. He just wants to stay with his loved ones as long as can possible be.... Just like humans would. But we all know that not letting go of people can have disastrous results.
Why did Louis kill the drunk guy in the bar?
Louis is a vampire which means he has to kill people from time to time in order to drink their blood. The drunk guy in the bar was an easy victim, because Louis was supposedly going to drive him home and he was too drunk to defend himself. The drunk guy also seemed like a 'lost case' which are the only people Louis kills.
Why does Louis throw up after he drinks blood? How does that actually help him live when he needs the blood to survive?
Throwing up is a normal reaction when someone is confronted with a traumatizing situation such as rape or murder. Even though Louis is a vampire, he feels bad about killing people. He wants to be a good man after all. He doesn't want to be a monster. It's explained in the story that he is never able to throw up the blood. The desire to throw up is an instant reaction, but because he never throws up any blood it won't hinder him in his survival.
Are there any plans for a full novel connected with this play?
A Good Man was always meant to be a movie and it'll probably stay that way. The screenplay is available on Kindle and all other digital formats though, so readers can already check it out.

Review: I moved on to this book immediately after finishing Straight to Hell (you can check out the review at http://www.identitydiscovery.net/2012/05/straight-to-hell-by-michelle-scott.html). At the end of Straight to Hell, Lilith is starting to get her life back together even if she is still working for the Devil. She has rebuilt her home that had burned down and has her daughter and niece living with her. Granted she destroyed her step sister by sleeping with the man she loved (Tommy) in order to get all this stuff, but life is turning around a little bit.

This story has a lot of basis on Lilith's failure to tempt her clients. She is given a task to tempt one particular guy into doing all sorts of random, seemingly trivial things, but somehow she keeps failing. Angels keep showing up and rather easily undoing everything Lilith has worked so hard for. The problem other than failing? Helen Spry, the demon Lilith reports too, really really really wants this guy tempted. She is willing to give Lilith multiple chances and even a little incentive. You see, Lilith's deal with the Devil was made for her many years ago by and very distant relative who agreed that her direct descendant females would each take the place as a succubus with each passing generation. There is only one succubus at a time. Lilith is the succubus currently, but if anything happens to Lilith her daughter eight year old daughter Grace will become the next in line. In order to encourage Lilith to tempt her current target, Helen tells Lilith that she will amend her contract to skip Grace's generation. Pretty good encouragement huh? Save your daughter's soul from Hell if you get this one guy to "do something." When you're own soul is already in the service of hell, it sounds like the logical thing to do.

The kicker is that the demon that Lilith could fall in love with is also on the case. Helen pits the incubus William Darcy against succubus Lilith Straight. Something really big must be at stake for such drastic measures. Especially since William has a really good incentive too to finish the job. He will get to hold his infant son in his arms. His son has been dead for a long time, but Helen can put them together in the afterlife for a few minutes. So who will win this bet? What is at stake that is so drastic that has angels and demons alike after this one man? Read to find out! I can't wait for the next book because this one leaves you with a pretty good cliffhanger!

Excerpt: My feet finally found the water’s floor. I tugged the female from Durk’s grasp and hoisted her up into my arms.

The water had washed away the crimson stains, but left her lips thin and blue. Durk pressed his fingers to her neck. “No pulse.”

“Go. Find wood dry enough to burn. We need fire. I’ll start CPR.”

He bolted to his feet and darted away. I settled her on the damp foliage covered floor and ripped her buttoned blouse apart. I rested my ear to her chest. Nothing. Cheek to her mouth. Nothing.

I clamped my hands together and started counting out compressions. “Please. You can’t die. I just found you.”

Her chest caved beneath my weight with each push I offered to start her heart. Pumping it for her. She looked so cold. So small. So fragile. Darkness tainted her lips. I imagined they’d be full and bright red like in my dreams. Her glowing skin was now dull and lifeless.

Please. Michael.

There must have been a reason for me to be on this plane. This time. This date. This instance. Not to let me find someone I’d dreamt about, then to lose her.

I pinched her nose. With my other hand I cradled her neck and opened her mouth to mine. My lips formed a seal around hers, and I blew. Her chest raised. One more breath.

I turned my head, listening. Nothing.

I repeated it for another cycle. Durk returned holding an armful of branches. He ripped open his pack and pulled out a bag.

“Zip lock?”

“Jessica made an appearance at my room while packing.” He held it up. “I thought she’d lost her mind. Matches, magazine, and tiny foil blanket.”

“You didn’t say anything.”

“Told me not to.”

Durk went to work on the fire as I finished the second round of compressions. I leaned down to breathe for her again and paused an inch before contact with her lips. “Please,” I whispered and sealed her mouth with mine.

I breathed into her, then turned and drew in a gulp of air and let it flow into her. A gentle scent of sandalwood and sugar wrapped around me. Coiled me in warmth. The woman flinched beneath me.

Then coughed.

I tilted her to the side and water spewed from her mouth. A tremor rocked her little body. The crackle of a flame, and the scent of burning leaves filled the air. “There you go. Get it out.” I patted her back.

She flopped back and her eyes opened wide.

The same honey irises I’d seen a hundred times in my dreams stared at me. “Can you hear me?”

The lids hung heavy over her dilated eyes, then slid shut.

“No. No. Stay with me.” I patted her shoulder.

Durk joined me, kneeling beside her on the other side. I pressed my finger to her neck.

“She’s got to be in shock. Freezing. Get that fire going.” I peeled my shirt over my head as I stood. “Find all you can to get a small shelter formed around the fire.” I ripped at the belt securing my soggy pants to me. “I’ll warm her up.”

Wasn’t exactly how I’d dreamed I would first lay with a woman, but I’d be damned if I was going to let her die.

She was mine.

Lose Weight with Obestrim

Ok...It seems like everyone has a problem with losing weight or being over tired or eating too much. The people that don't have those problems, you can skip this post and know that I am jealous of you. You know who you are! Anyway, I tried a sample of Obestrim a while ago and found that the advertising of appetite suppressant and extra energy were immediate. The sample is only two days worth which normally is not enough for you to get an idea of if it will work for you. Well I enjoyed the energy boost so much, I decided it was worth a try just for that. I was drinking at least one energy drink a day. That's a cost of around $2 a day for energy. A one month supply of Obestrim runs from $39.95-$69.95 depending on the deals they are running in a given month. Since I typically spend around $60 a month on energy drinks, it seemed like a good exchange especially since the appetite suppressant is real. That means I get something extra for the money. The question I didn't have an answer for was whether I would lose weight. Most people lose anywhere from 3-8 lbs a week on Obestrim. I unfortunately am not one of those people. I haven't lost any weight this month and even called to talk to the company about it. The result was that I am not eating enough! Can you believe that??? The appetite suppressant was working so well that I wasn't eating enough for my metabolism to work on my existing fat. After that call I have been trying to make myself eat a little more throughout the day. We will see if it helps or not.

Another aspect of Obestrim is that you are not supposed to have to exercise to get the minimum weight loss. Yesterday I decided I would also start exercising because I am getting a little desperate. I need to change my body image so that I can have a better feeling about myself. Now while my results aren't great, I have a friend that started it last week. She loves the extra energy and has lost 8 lbs in one week. Pretty amazing huh? So it really does work for some people. I hope the exercising and eating a little more kicks it into gear for me.
