Gorilla Biscuits Mascot Gets His Own Graphic Novel

2026-10-23T12:40:43.621-04:00

For decades, the grinning gorilla from the cover of Gorilla Biscuits’ celebrated self-titled EP has been one of the most recognizable images in hardcore punk. Now, the underground icon is stepping off the record sleeve and into the pages of his very own graphic novel.

Sumerian proudly announces BISCUIT POWER, an original graphic novel written by Christopher Greenslate (Queen Kodiak) alongside Gorilla Biscuits vocalist Anthony “CIV” Civarelli, featuring beautifully strange art by Chris Anderson (Heavy Metal, Lost Angels, Spectral), colors by Vittorio Astone (Canto), and letters by Micah Myers.

Few hardcore bands have left a legacy quite like Gorilla Biscuits. Formed in New York City in 1987, the band helped define a movement with their landmark album Start Today, influencing generations of musicians well beyond the underground. Travis Barker has described attending their shows as “like church,” Steve Aoki has their iconic gorilla tattooed on his back, and Fall Out Boy covered the album's title track for Tony Hawk's American Wasteland.

Now, nearly four decades later, the band’s message of positivity, individuality, and community continues to resonate across generations, with their iconic gorilla mascot now stepping into a story of his own.

Queens is rotting from the inside out.

Something unseen is feeding on the city—turning dreamers into sleepwalkers. Whispering of an easier life. A softer life. A life without risk.

But only one can hear the whisper for the lie that it is, and his name is… Biscuit.

A telepathic, super-charged gorilla born from the raw electricity of New York’s public works system, Biscuit stalks the abandoned subway arteries beneath the boroughs, hunting the thing that’s draining hope from the people who need it most, and if he can’t stop it, the city doesn’t just fall—it forgets what it is…

For Christopher Greenslate, bringing the character to life meant capturing the same energy that made Gorilla Biscuits such an important part of hardcore culture while introducing its message to a new generation.

“Like so many people, I’ve been staring at this gorilla for most of my life. As a fan, it’s tattooed in the folds of my brain. As a writer, I wanted to bottle the spark of the band and bring it to readers young and old. To make something electric that fans will love, but that also widens the lens and invites new people in. Comics felt like the right place to do that, and Civ was down to develop a story that speaks to the moment we’re in. I’m super proud of this book—it’s killer.”

Civ recalls how the idea began with a particularly unexpected conversation.

“Christopher got in touch with me and said, ‘While I was showering yesterday, I thought to myself, what’s the deal with this gorilla? Where did he come from?’ “And I said, ‘That’s what you think about in the shower?’ So, I began to write the backstory on the phone with Christopher, and here we are today.”

Beyond giving the band’s longtime mascot a history, Civ hopes the graphic novel carries forward the values that shaped the New York hardcore community.

“New York hardcore was more than music; it was a scene. There was a hierarchy that set the rules and the ethos, and it was handed down through shows and music. Our values and love for one another are hopefully carried in these pages as we still struggle every day to understand our place in society.”

For artist Chris Anderson, transforming an image that has appeared on countless shirts, records, and tattoos into a fully realized comic book character came with its own set of challenges.

"This is all about the fans. They have had this image in their head for so long, I’m happy to be a part of busting it out of the static, iconic image into a sequential adventure that will stand the test of time alongside the original. That is, if I did my job right."

Perfect for Gorilla Biscuits fans and readers of TMNT, Battle Beast, Hellboy, The Tick, and Usagi Yojimbo, Biscuit Power combines street-level mythology, supernatural adversaries, and an unmistakable punk rock attitude. The graphic novel brings a new dimension to the band's legacy while introducing its iconic mascot to a new generation.

The Biscuit Power graphic novel is available for preorder through Sumerian, with four collectible bundles starting at $25, including a limited collector’s edition of 250 copies. Select bundles feature exclusive merchandise, including apparel, prints, and signed bookplates.

Additionally, a limited-edition Biscuit Power comic and 7-inch vinyl bundle will be available exclusively through Revelation Records. Limited to 500 copies, the release features two previously unreleased tracks, “Biscuit Power” and a cover of Buzzcocks’ “Sitting Round at Home.”

Orders are expected to ship approximately 60 days after the preorder launch. Fans can secure their copy here: https://sumerian.ink/products/gorilla-biscuits-biscuit-power.

Prime Video Announces Season Two Renewal for CARRIE

2026-10-22T13:16:50.091-04:00

Following the series’ impressive debut, Prime Video announced today that it has renewed its hit series, Carrie, for a second season. From acclaimed showrunner Mike Flanagan, the series features critically lauded, breakout performances from Summer H. Howell as Carrie White and Samantha Sloyan as Margaret White. Carrie debuted on October 7, 2026, and out of the gate hit number 1 on Prime Video in over 105 countries worldwide.

From visionary showrunner Mike Flanagan, the urgent and unexpected reimagining of Stephen King’s seminal story brings new depth and complexity to its iconic characters, exploring the forces that shape Carrie White (Summer H. Howell) as she navigates the cruelty and pressures of the modern world. But Carrie’s story doesn’t stop at Prom – it’s far from over…much remains in store from Mike Flanagan and Stephen King, as new revelations will come to light, major character arcs, and plenty of shocking twists. All eight episodes of Carrie Season One are now available exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

"Carrie is connecting with both longtime Stephen King fans and a new generation altogether — including young adults and international audiences, with particular strength among female viewers," said Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television, Amazon MGM Studios. "It speaks to the enduring power of this story and signals that Mike Flanagan's reimagining of the iconic IP has real breadth. We're excited by where he and Stephen plan to take the story."

“For 50 years, audiences have known and gravitated to Carrie White’s story. From the beginning, we imagined a story that goes far beyond the prom, and I’m incredibly grateful for Stephen’s trust and support in exploring what comes next,” said showrunner Mike Flanagan.

“I can’t wait for audiences to get to see what’s down the road for Carrie White. Mike Flanagan and I are excited about what comes next. It’s bound to be thrilling,” said executive producer Stephen King.

HE'S GOTTA GO by Marilee Albert

2026-10-22T13:01:48.681-04:00

Nina Simmons is drowning – financially, emotionally, existentially. Trapped in a crumbling marriage to a passive husband, raising two struggling daughters, and caring for a deteriorating mother-in-law in the suffocating perfection of Hidden Hills, Nina's life has become an endless loop of sacrifice, resentment, and quiet despair. As the bills pile up and the illusion of security evaporates, a single thought begins to consume her…

He’s Gotta Go.

What begins as a private mantra evolves into something far more dangerous. Nina is smart, observant, and meticulous – plus she has learned a great deal from true-crime documentaries about how people get caught. If she's going to do this, she intends to do it perfectly.

But Nina isn't the only woman harboring secrets. The novel unfolds through the intersecting lives of Nina and her friends -- a glamorous new neighbor who might be a sociopath, a jet-setting lawyer married to a rap star, a PI desperate to escape corporate purgatory, and an artist whose self-destructive appetites are catching up with her. He's Gotta Go is a taut, multi-voiced examination of power, desire, and the quiet violence embedded in modern domestic life.

Darkly comic, sharply observed, and unsettlingly plausible, He's Gotta Go skewers wealth, marriage, motherhood, and the myths women are told about endurance and gratitude. Marilee Albert delivers a fearless, satirical thriller that asks an uncomfortable question: when survival itself feels criminal, how far would you go to reclaim your life?

With its cinematic storytelling and compelling characters, He’s Gotta Go is a natural fit for film or television. Discussions with established producers about an adaptation are currently underway, with an announcement expected soon.

Marilee Albert

Marilee Albert studied philosophy at Yale before beginning her film career as Francis Ford Coppola's philosophy tutor in Rome. She later worked in film development at the RAI before returning to her hometown of Los Angeles, where she segued to screenwriting and producing.

Now CEO of Kepler Media Group, she has an eclectic slate that includes projects on the Cotton Club murders, country music, and the infamous Davis murders in Texas.

Albert is also the founder of One Village Green™, a nonprofit focused on teen mental health. Her first novel, The Tutor, about her time with Coppola, was published by Rare Bird Books in 2019.

Her greatest job is being a mom to two boys. Her greatest claim to fame: queen of the gross-out cake.

Bissette and Totleben’s Swamp Thing Artist’s Edition Announced

2026-10-22T12:49:23.583-04:00

Today, Scott Dunbier’s Act 4 Publishing, in partnership with Skybound and DC, announced the upcoming release of Bissette and Totleben’s Swamp Thing Artist’s Edition. Collecting over 170 pieces of art starring the beloved Swamp Thing, from interior pages to unforgettable covers, this is the first time these stories have been featured in this format in a stunning, oversized Artist’s Edition measures 12” x 17”, arriving in comic shops on July 7, 2027.

Stephen R. Bissette and John Totleben took the comics world by storm when they were given the reins of Saga of Swamp Thing with issue #16. Alan Moore joined the series with #20, and in the issues that followed, the trio completely reinvented Swamp Thing in what is considered to be the seminal horror comic of the 1980s.

Bissette’s masterful layouts were the perfect springboard for Totleben’s finely detailed pen-and-brushwork. Their artistic collaboration was stylishly unique and unlike anything that had come before in mainstream comics. Rick Veitch, a fellow Joe Kubert School alumnus, also provided art for the series, adding his own distinctive take on the tragic hero.

"Never thought I'd live long enough to see this volume exist but overjoyed and gratified that I have, and that it does,” remarked Stephen R. Bissette. “Back in the mid-1980s, John and I basically subsidized our ongoing work on Swamp Thing by selling the original art (at what were, at the time, affordable prices) and as many sketches as we could muster—having this book is happily putting some of the artwork that we'd let go long ago back into our hands. And, thankfully, all of yours."

"For those of you who have never seen, much less owned, an original page of Bissette & Totleben Swamp Thing artwork and wish you had, this volume puts the next best thing straight into your hands.” John Totleben added, “These comic art reproductions come closer than anything else to represent the look and feel of the actual physical pages, warts and all, without the usual pre-printing clean-ups and preparations necessary for publication. Almost like having a collection of the original pages, and… you don't need to be a billionaire to afford it!"

Art is included from many issues between #16–64, including spectacular examples from “Anatomy Lesson,” and “American Gothic” storylines, and many others. Additionally, the 10-page “Jack in the Green” story is presented in its entirety – the final collaboration by Bissette and Totleben at DC. There’s also a selection of gorgeous covers, sketches, and other extras. Plus, an introduction by Bissette and another by legendary editor Karen Berger that offers keen insight into the artistic collaborations that brought these issues to vivid life.

“Bissette and Totleben’s run on Swamp Thing with Alan Moore is arguably the greatest mainstream comics series of the early 1980s,” said Scott Dunbier. “My one complaint was that, as an art dealer and collector, I saw many of the original pages in person–and the printed comic book did not come close to doing their work justice. As great as those comics were, they could never measure up to the exquisite line work Bissette and Totleben were producing. Now, finally, people will be able to see what this masterful duo created, as close to the original art as possible. It will be a revelation”!

An Artist’s Edition is an art book disguised as a comic collection. Although appearing to be in black and white, all the art is scanned in color, enabling the reader to see the work as closely to the original as possible – ink gradients, blue pencil, and all the unique nuances that make original art so special – are all clearly visible and printed at the same size as drawn.

Bissette and Totleben’s Swamp Thing Artist’s Edition is the latest chapter of the groundbreaking releases from the Act 4 Publishing and Skybound partnership. Additional upcoming titles include Jason Pearson’s Body Bags Artist’s Edition, DC Silver Age Covers and Stories Artist’s Edition, Circus of Bones: The Art of Mike Mignola, Beta Ray Bill by Daniel Warren Johnson Artist’s Edition, J. Scott Campbell's Danger Girl Artist’s Edition, and Marvel Heroes by Gene Colan Artist’s Edition.

Bissette and Totleben’s Swamp Thing Artist’s Edition (ISBN: To Come | SRP $150.00) will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, July 7, 2027, and at booksellers on Tuesday, August 3, 2027.

CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 4 x WU-TANG CLAN

2026-10-22T12:41:10.098-04:00

The Call of Shaolin will definitely be heard across all of gaming this fall as the Wu-Tang Clan’s classic hit “C.R.E.A.M.” will be featured in the highly anticipated blockbuster Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The original version of the song will be featured in the game’s opening cinematic, while the remix will be featured during the end credits sequence. The iconic track has been reimagined by Korean hip-hop artists LEE YOUNGJI, E SENS and Jay Park, delivering their verses in English and Korean, connecting the song to Modern Warfare 4’s new Korean setting. Produced by Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA and Martin Wave of Parasol Music, the remix brings a fresh perspective to one of hip-hop’s most enduring anthems while connecting with the voices of Korea’s hip-hop scene. This new take on the legendary classic will be released by Epic Records and will be available across all major music streaming platforms.

“This song is special to me because it brought our group to new heights worldwide,” said RZA. “Reimagining it in a new language with the incredible talent of LEE YOUNGJI, E SENS and Jay Park gives the track a fresh perspective. It is incredible to hear the message resonate with a new generation of rappers from the other side of the globe.”

The Call of Duty franchise has been at the forefront of bringing new musical collaborations into their games. From partnerships and collaborations, Call of Duty has always strived to introduce players to new artists, genres, and sounds from around the world.

“Working with RZA and the legendary Wu-Tang Clan to reimagine one of hip-hop’s most iconic songs has been an incredible opportunity,” said Tyler Bahl, Chief Marketing Officer, Activision. “As Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, Wu-Tang’s influence on music and culture is undeniable. At its core, ‘C.R.E.A.M.’ tells the story of a group of young people coming together, overcoming adversity, and rising from nothing to something. That journey mirrors the arc of our characters in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Bringing that story to life through some of Korea’s most exciting hip-hop artists connects two generations of music and culture in a way that feels authentic to the game and its setting.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23 across all platforms.

THE DOLL IN THE HALL, A New Halloween Tradition

2026-10-22T12:15:39.800-04:00

The Doll in the Hall LLC plans to launch The Doll in the Hall on Kickstarter on October 1, 2026. Built around an original character named Deadra, the project turns the month of October into a daily family ritual that blends search, storytelling, suspense, and play.

Each morning, families unlock Deadra from her keepsake box and place her into the day. Children must find her and return her to the box before bedtime. When Deadra is not found in time, she may cause playful mischief overnight. The experience continues through Halloween, when families can celebrate completing the challenge with a small reward chosen by the parents.

The planned product combines a 12" articulated Deadra doll, an illustrated storybook, and reusable keepsake packaging designed to become part of the tradition itself. The packaging features a door-style flap and the warning, “DON’T OPEN! HAUNTED DOLL INSIDE!”

“I wanted to create more than a Halloween decoration or collectible,” said Gilbert Sotero Jr., founder of The Doll in the Hall LLC and creator of Deadra. “The goal is to give families a tradition they can look forward to every October - one that creates suspense, laughter, courage, and memories together.”

Deadra is the flagship character in a larger planned Doll in the Hall universe. The company’s immediate focus is successfully introducing her through Kickstarter and building the first community of families who will help bring the tradition to life.

The campaign is planned to run from October 1 through November 2, 2026, with the possibility of participating in Kickstarter’s Witchstarter celebration. A limited VIP reservation offer allows supporters to reserve access to a private $34 reward tier for $1 before the campaign launches. The VIP tier will not be available to new reservations after launch.

Season 3 Trailer for THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER

2026-10-21T13:03:46.588-04:00

Today, Prime Video debuted the official trailer for the highly anticipated third season of the epic fantasy series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. “All of it has come to this,” Galadriel says, as the forging of The One Ring approaches and Sauron’s grip on Middle-earth tightens.

In the thrilling new trailer, all the peoples of Middle-earth are engaged in the heroic struggle against Sauron and his army of Orcs. His terrifying Ring-servants, the Nazgnagôl, roam Middle-earth clad in black armor as tensions rise among the Elves trying desperately to hold the front lines; familial ties are strained among the Dwarves in Khazad-dûm; political factions push the island kingdom of Númenor to the brink of civil war; and in the eastern lands of Rhûn, Gandalf enlists his full powers of magic and persuasion as he fights to turn the tide of impending darkness.

The first four episodes of Season Three of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere on November 11, 2026. Then episodes 305 & 306 will be available to stream on November 18, while the final two episodes of the season will be released on November 25.

In Season Three, Middle-earth is at war. Five years have passed since the fall of Eregion. Sauron’s armies have marched across the whole of the world, conquering all in their path. Only a few isolated pockets stand between the Dark Lord and total victory – Khazad-dûm, where the Dwarves are now sealed deep within their mountain halls, and the elven realms of Lindon and Rivendell, which are protected by their Three Rings. But deep in the land of Mordor, in his newly completed tower of Barad-dûr, the Dark Lord toils day and night, obsessed with harnessing a power that will bring the last of his enemies to their knees: One Ring to rule them all... Now, all the free peoples of Middle-earth – Dwarves, Elves, Men, and Wizards alike – must find a way to come together, in a race against time to prevent Sauron from achieving his goal of utter domination of all life…

The third season is produced by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay. They are joined by executive producers Lindsey Weber, Kate Hazell, Justin Doble, and executive producer-director Charlotte Brändström. Matthew Penry-Davey is producer, and Ally O’Leary Cantrell, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee are co-producers.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. The series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil in Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains to the majestic forests of the elf capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the farthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

All sixteen episodes of the first two seasons are available to stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories in multiple languages.

The De La Soul STAKES IS HIGH 30th Anniversary Edition

2026-10-21T12:05:54.610-04:00

Thirty years after challenging hip-hop to examine its direction, legendary hip-hop group De La Soul celebrates the enduring legacy of its landmark fourth studio album, Stakes Is High, with an expansive 30th Anniversary Edition arriving this Friday, October 23, via A.O.I. Records, distributed by Chrysalis. Pre-Order/Pre-Save here.

Featuring newly remastered audio, rare recordings, remixes, instrumentals, and exclusive collectible editions, the release honors one of hip-hop's most influential albums while introducing its timeless message to a new generation of listeners.

Originally released in July 1996, Stakes Is High marked a pivotal moment in De La Soul's career. As the trio's fourth studio album and their first without longtime collaborator and producer Prince Paul, the project ushered in a more stripped-back, hard-edged sound while remaining rooted in the wit, intelligence, and musical adventurousness that defined the group's earlier work. Posdnuos, Trugoy (Dave) and Maseo delivered a sharper, more socially conscious body of work, confronting commercialism, materialism and the changing values of hip-hop culture. Three decades later, those observations continue to resonate, as conversations surrounding authenticity, artistic independence and the future of hip-hop remain central to the genre.

"Stakes Is High was us speaking honestly about what we were seeing and experiencing in hip-hop at that moment," says Posdnuos. "We weren't trying to predict the future. We were expressing what mattered to us as artists and as people who love this culture. Thirty years later, to see people still connecting with those messages, and a new generation discovering the album, means a great deal."

Featuring production from a then-emerging J Dilla, whose work on the title track would become one of his most celebrated early contributions, Stakes Is High helped redefine De La Soul's sound while reinforcing their position among hip-hop's most innovative and influential groups. Songs including "The Bizness" featuring Common, "Itzsoweezee (HOT)," "Big Brother Beat" featuring Mos Def, "Pony Ride" featuring Truth Enola, and the powerful title track remain essential examples of the group's lyrical depth, soulful production, and uncompromising creative vision. The album reached No. 4 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, while the title track peaked at No. 53 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

You want the music to have a life beyond the moment it was created. This release also gives us another opportunity to celebrate Dave and the work we built together."

The anniversary arrives during an exciting and creatively active chapter for De La Soul. Following the long-awaited arrival of their classic catalog on streaming platforms in 2023, the Grammy-winning group continues to tour around the globe, connect with audiences across generations, and release new music. Dan Watters Takes on The Terminator

2026-10-19T22:58:21.457-04:00

It's a double celebration, as The Terminator marks Valentine's Day early and superstar writer Dan Watters makes his solo Dynamite debut! Dynamite Entertainment and STUDIOCANAL are bringing this special treat to fans this January.

Watters brings readers a love story like no other. Jack and Jill met at work, with one of those fairytale romances in a whirlwind of love. Even after a year together, they could barely keep their hands off each other. That is, until last week. Jill has found that Jack barely looks at her anymore, never mind tries to touch her. What's happened to this once picture-perfect relationship?

The answer is that Jack has become single-mindedly obsessed with work. He's locked in on the upcoming project they've both been working on, the background track to their passionate entanglement. Their employer, Cyberdyne, the Cyber Dynamics Systems Corporation, has a major product launch — literally — around the corner. Their first surveillance satellite is scheduled to lift off February 14, 1987!

Can love survive at the genesis of Skynet, before the rise of the machines, and as the terrifying Terminators loom in the future? Find out in this new 30-page story landing in everyone's reading pile ahead of Valentine's Day.

English writer Dan Watters has skyrocketed into the stratosphere himself in recent years, unlike the satellite in his latest story. One of the breakout hits of the last year, Batman: Dark Patterns, has been followed by dual runs on the critically acclaimed Nightwing and the just-about-to-launch Spider-Woman. Now for his first-ever work with Dynamite Entertainment fully in the cockpit, following a co-writing collaboration with Si Spurrier on The Shadow, he's taking on a top-tier franchise in The Terminator.

Watters is joined by virtuoso artist Pasquale Qualano, marking his first foray with The Terminator, following fan-favorite runs with Vampirella, Red Sonja, Gargoyles, and Supernatural.

The powerhouse creative team are joined by a trio of diabolical covers by Björn Barends, Francesco Mattina, and Stuart Sayger.

George A. Romero's "A NIGHT AT THE SYMPHONY" World Premiere

2026-10-19T10:51:29.165-04:00

George A. Romero is coming home to the theater where one of horror's most important stories first came to life. The George A. Romero Foundation (GARF) and Music Director Christian Kriegeskotte today announced the world premiere of George A. Romero's "A Night at the Symphony," an all-new symphonic concert experience celebrating the life, career, and creative legacy of the filmmaker known as the "Godfather of Horror." Presented by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and performed live by the Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh, the one-night-only world premiere will include a host of surprise guests and take place March 26, 2027 at 7:30 p.m. at the Byham Theater, 101 6th Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15222, in the Cultural District. This is the same venue (then known as The Fulton) where Romero premiered Night of the Living Dead in 1968.

For tickets and information, visit Pittsburgh Cultural Trust official ticket sources: TrustArts.org; call 412-456-6666, and in person at Theater Square Box Office, 655 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. Tickets are on sale now. VIP add-on packages are available.

"A Night at the Symphony" begins with music that inspired Romero, including his childhood experience seeing a film adaptation of Jacques Offenbach's Tales of Hoffmann, before moving through newly orchestrated music from Romero's films. The crown jewel of the evening is a complete, exclusive screening of Romero's “lost” 1962 debut short film, “Expostulations,” with a new orchestral score commissioned by the George A. Romero Foundation and composed by Kriegeskotte. It will be performed live-to-picture by the orchestra.

For decades, “Expostulations” was believed lost, with its elements thought to have been destroyed in a basement flood. The rediscovery of surviving 16mm footage restored an important missing chapter in Romero's development, revealing an emerging filmmaker already using Pittsburgh's streets, buildings, and neighborhoods as expressive settings for the personal, social, and political ideas that would later define his work. “Expostulations” is a remarkable time capsule of color film footage of Pittsburgh's historic Hill District and surrounding areas captured in the early 1960s and featuring a majority cast of local African-American actors. The George A. Romero Foundation has preserved and restored the surviving material with help from people closely connected to Romero's life and career.

“At first I thought it would be fun simply to reimagine the music from some of Romero’s most notable films for live orchestra,” said Kriegeskotte, creator and music director of the program. “I started out as a studio orchestra musician in Hollywood, and having seen the ongoing popularity of movies like Star Wars in symphonic spaces, I wanted to turn the spotlight toward less recognized heroes of indie cinema whose films helped shape my own creative imagination. I only discovered later that Romero’s inspiration to become a filmmaker came from the film adaptation of an opera, and a natural throughline began to emerge, revealing unrealized projects and lesser-known collaborations that felt perfectly at home in the concert hall. When the GARF asked me to write an original score to accompany Expostulations, I knew we had a remarkable program on our hands.”

The concert opens with Kriegeskotte's original overture, Beyond the Living Dead, a theme and variations inspired by the first 10 notes heard in Night of the Living Dead. Guests will also hear music from Romero’s most celebrated films like John Harrison’s iconic synth score from Day of the Dead (performed in part on Harrison’s original Prophet-5 synthesizer), Donald Rubinstein’s lush music from Martin and Knightriders, music from Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and others. All are expanded and reimagined for the full symphony orchestra.

"My dad was relentlessly curious, and his imagination was never confined to a single genre, medium, or moment in his career," says Tina Romero, Acting President of the George A. Romero Foundation. "A Night at the Symphony gives audiences access to parts of that creative journey that are rarely seen together. Dad loved music and had a huge collection of movie scores on vinyl. He absolutely would have loved this project. To premiere it in Pittsburgh, in the very theater where Night of the Living Dead was introduced to audiences nearly six decades ago, makes the evening especially meaningful."

A Carnegie Mellon University School of Music alum, Kriegeskotte’s compositions and arrangements have been commissioned and performed by organizations including the Houston Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Opera, American Composers Orchestra and New York Pops. His film and television credits include Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, War of the Worlds, Sin City, The Simpsons, Family Guy, and American Dad.

All net revenue generated by the world premiere and future bookings of "A Night at the Symphony" will benefit the ongoing work of the George A. Romero Foundation, the event's executive producer. Foundation initiatives include scholarships and fellowships for the next generation of horror creatives, restoration and preservation of Romero's work, support for the growing horror archive at the University of Pittsburgh's Hillman Library, and efforts to establish an endowment to name the university's new Horror Studies Center the George A. Romero Horror Studies Center.

For fans looking to take the experience even further, two VIP add-on packages are available. The VIP Meet & Greet Package includes exclusive post-concert access with the George A. Romero Foundation creative team and VIP guests, plus a limited-edition A Night at the Symphony T-shirt, signed concert poster, signed copy of George A. Romero’s The Amusement Park graphic novel, and a surprise goodie bag of merchandise and collectibles. The VIP Merchandise Package includes the same exclusive merchandise without the meet-and-greet. A separate concert ticket is required for all VIP add-on packages.

The full program will run approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes with an intermission.

A Night at the Symphony has been made possible through the generous support of the Richard King Mellon Foundation, The Pittsburgh Foundation, The University of Pittsburgh Library System, The University of Pittsburgh David C. Frederick Honors College, Dentons Cohen and Grigsby, The Vault Studio, and Fright Rags.

The Byham Theater is located at 101 6th Street in Pittsburgh’s downtown Cultural District. For tickets and additional information, visit https://trustarts.org/production/108672.

Claymation Puzzle Platformer UvsU: You vs You

2026-10-16T23:31:15.753-04:00

UvsU: You vs You, the dark claymation puzzle platformer where you play against your past self, launches on PC via Steam on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2027, as revealed during IGN Fan Fest. The demo is available now on Steam, with over 350 reviews and a 98% “Very Positive” rating!

In UvsU: You vs You, you play against recordings of your past self in time-loop mind-melting puzzles. Each puzzle consists of multiple loops, where you will switch roles between angel and devil, which have alternating, seemingly conflicting goals. The angel must reach the end and the devil must kill the angel. The twist is that every loop is recorded, and the other characters are all performing your own past actions. The puzzle is only solved when all the characters have met the goal of their loop.

Beyond the puzzle chambers, UvsU: You vs You emphasizes non-linear exploration, environmental discovery, and knowledge-based progression. Inspired by classics like Braid, The Neverhood, Animal Well, and Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee, the game blends tactile aesthetics with mind-bending logic. The narrative is entirely textless, delivered through handmade stop-motion style cutscenes.

UvsU: You vs You launches on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2027 on PC via Steam. The game will include language support for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain and Latin America), Japanese, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Chinese (Traditional and Simplified).

GODZILLA VS EVERYTHING

2026-10-16T20:36:33.638-04:00

GODZILLA’s most epic crossover comic book event is stomping into comic shops March 2027.

From New York Times bestselling writer Tim Seeley and acclaimed artist Fero Pe comes GODZILLA VS EVERYTHING, the first four-issue crossover event from the celebrated Kai-Sei era line of comics at IDW Publishing. Since the Kai-Sei era made its unforgettable debut in 2025, everything in the connected universe of comics - GODZILLA, STARSHIP GODZILLA, DEADZONE, and THE HORROR OF GODZILLA - has been building up to this jaw-dropping blockbuster. Godzilla has achieved its most powerful form yet and has its sights set on destroying the world. Can the combined forces of Earth - and beyond - stop the King of the Monsters, or will Godzilla finally destroy the world?

"When I started work with editor Jake Williams and IDW on GODZILLA, the big pitch was this was going to play like a universe of titles, but also as a universe of characters,” commented Seeley. “From the beginning, the goal was they'd all come together at some point as friends and/or enemies in a proper comic universe event title. Well, we're here, and all the meticulous plotting of our creative crew leads to a wild, weird, terrifying crossover comic that puts Godzilla, the kaiju and our cast through every epic story beat you've ever wanted."

Don’t miss the buildup to GODZILLA VS EVERYTHING in STARSHIP GODZILLA: INVASION X (#1 on sale now), GODZILLA: REVENGE OF THE DEADZONE (#1 on sale October 28), and the ongoing GODZILLA series (#13 on sale now).

Since the launch of the Kai-Sei era in July of 2025, IDW Publishing has sold more than 1 million comics and books featuring Godzilla. Contact a comic shop near you to pre-order GODZILLA VS EVERYTHING #1 (of 4), plus GODZILLA #17, the finale of the hit ongoing series which sets the stage for the must-read event.

Larry Fessenden's TRAUMA, OR MONSTERS ALL Opens November 4th

2026-10-16T20:14:43.723-04:00

Dark Sky Films proudly announces the release date of TRAUMA OR, MONSTERS ALL, the highly anticipated new feature from acclaimed independent horror filmmaker Larry Fessenden.

The film will be released in theaters November 4th with an opening at the IFC Center in New York, followed by a Los Angeles opening at Lumiere Music Hall and additional markets.

Produced by Glass Eye Pix, the film serves as the culmination of Fessenden's decades-long reinterpretation of the classic Universal monsters, bringing together the vampire, Frankenstein's monster, and the werewolf from his acclaimed films Habit, Depraved, and Blackout into one haunting contemporary story.

TRAUMA OR, MONSTERS ALL marks another chapter in the creative partnership between Dark Sky Films and Larry Fessenden's Glass Eye Pix, one of independent horror's most influential production companies. The collaboration stretches back nearly two decades and includes such acclaimed films as Ti West's The House of the Devil and The Innkeepers, and numerous other landmark genre titles including Stake Land, Stake Land 2, Hypothermia, Late Phases, Bitter Feast and Blackout.

Widely regarded as one of the genre's most original voices, Larry Fessenden has spent more than three decades crafting horror films that have reimagined classic monsters through a distinctly human lens. From Habit and Wendigo to The Last Winter, Beneath, Depraved, and Blackout, his films have earned international acclaim for blending supernatural mythology with contemporary social anxieties. Beyond directing, Fessenden has championed generations of independent filmmakers through Glass Eye Pix, producing acclaimed works by Ti West, Jim Mickle, Jenn Wexler, Kelly Reichardt, Glenn McQuaid, Jack Fessenden, and many others.

In TRAUMA OR, MONSTERS ALL, visiting writer Cassandra (Laëtitia Hollard, currently appearing in NBC's acclaimed medical drama The Pitt) arrives in the quiet upstate town of Talbot Falls to research a book on George Washington Carver while working at the local library alongside her new friend Agnes (Aitana Doyle). After Cassandra publishes an article exposing the town's unsettling past, buried secrets begin to surface as a werewolf, vampire, and Frankenstein creation emerge from the shadows, forcing the community to confront generations of fear, guilt, and suppressed trauma. Blending gothic horror, social commentary, and deeply human storytelling, Fessenden delivers an ambitious monster epic unlike anything else in contemporary genre cinema.

The ensemble cast features Laëtitia Hollard, Aitana Doyle, Addison Timlin, Alex Hurt, Alex Breaux, Larry Fessenden, John Speredakos, Marc Senter, Micheál Neeson, Joshua Leonard, Barbara Crampton, James Le Gros, with appearances by Emily Bennett and Toby Poser, alongside a host of returning Glass Eye Pix collaborators.

"I've spent my career reimagining classic monsters because they reveal something deeply human about us. TRAUMA OR, MONSTERS ALL brings those stories together into one film about memory, identity, and the wounds we carry. I'm grateful to reunite with Dark Sky Films, whose support of independent horror has made them the perfect home for this project." said Larry Fessenden

Greg Newman, EVP of Dark Sky Films added, "Our partnership with Larry Fessenden and Glass Eye Pix spans many years and some of the most influential independent horror films of their era. TRAUMA OR, MONSTERS ALL is another bold, uncompromising work from one of the genre's true visionaries, and we're proud to bring it to audiences."

Three Resident Evil Remakes Release on Nintendo Switch 2 Today

2026-10-16T12:42:50.407-04:00

Spooky season has officially arrived with today’s release of three iconic Resident Evil™ games on Nintendo Switch™ 2, including Resident Evil™ 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil™ 3, and Resident Evil™ 4 Gold Edition! Experience Raccoon City and the entire Resident Evil universe through the eyes of the legendary Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, and more. Early adopters can also snag each game at a special discounted price for a limited time, through November 7, 2026.

With the introduction of these three remakes, all mainline Resident Evil titles, including the recently released Resident Evil™ Requiem and the upcoming Resident Evil™ Veronica, will be able to be experienced on Nintendo Switch 2!

Revisit the legacy of each game with these refreshers:

Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition: An unprecedented biological disaster that strikes Raccoon City drags rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, a college student who has come to town to visit her brother, into a tragedy unlike any they’ve ever faced. Amid this extreme situation where the living dead devour humans, will the two of them manage to survive?
Resident Evil 3: Raccoon City lies in ruins following the aforementioned unprecedented biological disaster. Told from the perspective of Jill Valentine, a survivor of the special forces unit S.T.A.R.S., this is the story of the beginning and end of the Raccoon City Incident. As the viral infection spreads through the city with every passing moment, Nemesis, the most fearsome assassin, stands in Jill’s way as she uncovers the dark secrets of Umbrella Corporation. Can she escape this desperate threat?
Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition: Six years after the Raccoon City Incident, Leon S. Kennedy embarks on a harrowing mission to locate and rescue the president’s daughter. Can he survive the madness of the villagers, who have been transformed into monstrous cultists? In addition to the Separate Ways DLC – another mission woven into the background of the main story – the game also includes a wealth of additional downloadable content.

While these three remakes faithfully preserve the essence of the original games, each title has been reimagined with fresh ideas and modernized gameplay via Capcom’s RE ENGINE. Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition also include an abundance of additional content from the original versions.

Stay tuned for even more Resident Evil news and announcements as the franchise continues to celebrate its 30th anniversary!
