Blues Phenom Jake Soberlak Releases Debut Single

At 17 years old, Jake Soberlak of Kamloops, British Columbia, plays the blues with the authority of someone who has lived inside the music for half a century. Today, the young guitarist, singer, and harmonica player shares his debut single "You Gotta Leave," the first taste of his forthcoming album 'I'm In Trouble', arriving September 11, 2026. The song announces the arrival of one of the most compelling young voices working in Canadian blues today.

Soberlak's path into the blues began with a discovery that reached across generations. Digging through a collection of his grandfather's old records brought over from England, he found something scratchy, raw and utterly alive that grabbed hold and never let go. He followed the threads the way devoted blues listeners always have, one name leading to another, one record to the next, building a deep self-education in a tradition more than a century old. B.B. King, Peter Green and Eric Clapton became his teachers. He picked up guitar at thirteen and harmonica at fourteen, and word soon spread through Kamloops that something special was happening.

"You Gotta Leave" is an original Soberlak composition, and its origin offers a window into how completely he has absorbed the form. He wrote the song after hearing "Wine, Whiskey and Women" by Papa Lightfoot, a recording where the vocal sounds as though it is being sung straight through the harmonica microphone. Soberlak set out to write something where he could capture that very effect, channeling a vintage technique into a fresh new song. The result swaggers with confidence, anchored by a piano solo that he counts among his favourite moments on the entire record.

The lyrics carry the plainspoken directness that defines the best of the genre. "You gotta leave now babe go away from my door," Soberlak sings, "it's over now baby I don't want you around no more." There is a knowing assurance in lines like "won't you tell me where you learned to be so cold," delivered by a young artist who understands that the blues was always about connecting to something real and giving it your own honest take.

The single arrives from sessions that honour the way the great records were made. Soberlak cut his debut album at Afterlife Studios in Vancouver with producer and drummer Leon Power, known for his work with City and Colour and Frazey Ford. Power assembled a seasoned band for the dates, with Darren Parris on bass, the acclaimed Darryl Havers on piano and John Raham engineering. Every track went down live off the floor across two days, four musicians playing together in a room, capturing the spontaneity and feeling that the form demands.

For a teenager recording his first album alongside players of that caliber, the experience proved joyful and affirming. "They're all great people and great musicians, and it was so much fun," Soberlak says. He approaches the music with a humility that runs deeper than his years. "Not all blues songs are sad," he explains. "It's really a reflection of life. I like finding songs from the 30s, 40s or 50s, these gems that I really connect with, and I enjoy giving them my own take once I've learned them."

Soberlak has been building his live reputation across Kamloops and the surrounding region one room at a time, and his goals remain refreshingly uncomplicated. "I just want to be playing music and gigging," he says. "That's all I want to do." That clarity of purpose runs through every note of "You Gotta Leave" and points toward a debut album that introduces a genuine old soul finding his voice.

The Legend of Korra In Concert

Following the worldwide success of Avatar: The Last Airbender In Concert, Paramount, GEA Live, and Senbla today announced The Legend of Korra In Concert, a new live-to-picture orchestral experience that brings the acclaimed animated series to life on stage, combining live music with cinematic visuals. The U.S. tour to more than 20 cities will launch in Omaha on January 10, 2027, concurrent with a European leg to 10 cities beginning January 31. The tour coincides with the 15th anniversary of The Legend of Korra, which premiered on Nickelodeon in 2012. The announcement arrives just ahead of next week’s San Diego Comic-Con. Tickets go on sale Friday, July 17, and are available through www.legendofkorrainconcert.com.

The Legend of Korra In Concert comes from the producers of global touring sensations Avatar: The Last Airbender In Concert and Avatar: The Last Airbender In Concert – The 20th Anniversary Tour, which together have sold more than a half million tickets across more than 25 countries, and established the franchise as one of the most successful live-to-film, animated concert tours in the world.

The new production invites fans to experience Korra's world through a live symphonic performance synchronized with HD projections of memorable scenes from the series in chronological order. The story’s dynamic action and emotional storytelling merge with a score featuring classical orchestration and jazz, electronic, and world music influences. Emmy® Award-winning composer Jeremy Zuckerman's genre-defying compositions reflect the series' more modern setting and complex themes. Fans will also have access to exclusive tour merchandise available only at tour venues.

Middle-earth Enterprises is bringing THE OFFICIAL FAN CLUB OF THE LORD OF THE RINGS™ to San Diego Comic-Con 2026, giving fans their first opportunity to join the new free community. Designed for fans of The Lord of the Rings™, The Hobbit™, and the wider world of Middle-earth, brings fandom to life through Quests, collectible Mathoms, Fellowships, daily games, and community-driven adventures that continue long after Comic-Con ends.

Launching alongside the fan club is Gather The Fellowship, the first official community program, inviting fans to work together across online and in-person activities during San Diego Comic-Con. Whether scanning codes at convention booths, checking into panels, solving lore challenges, uncovering secret phrases, or participating from home, members can complete Quests to earn collectible digital Mathoms: keepsakes that commemorate their personal journey through Middle-earth. Attendance at San Diego Comic-Con is not required, allowing Fellowships to collaborate from anywhere in the world!

Built to celebrate the people, creators, and fan groups that have kept Middle-earth thriving for generations, The Official Fan Club of The Lord of the Rings™ brings fans, creators, licensees, and community leaders together in one official destination.

Prime Video Reveals First Look at New Series CARRIE

Today, Prime Video released first-look images from the upcoming new Original series, Carrie. Based on Stephen King’s iconic debut novel, Carrie is a bold, timely, and surprising reinvention of this classic coming‑of‑age story, adapted for television for the first time by visionary showrunner Mike Flanagan. Carrie will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide this Fall.

Misfit high‑schooler Carrie White (Summer Howell) has spent her life hidden away inside the walls of her home with her fiercely protective mother, Margaret (Samantha Sloyan). After her father’s sudden, untimely death thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of public high school, Carrie is forced to navigate a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community, the relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social‑media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers that rise alongside her adolescence.

Told over eight propulsive episodes, the series expands King’s cultural landmark — deepening its characters and tensions, and following the small, everyday choices that build toward a single, shattering night, in a gripping, deeply human story about kindness versus cruelty, and whether we’re witnessing the making of a hero, a monster, or something far more complicated.

As previously announced, Carrie stars Summer Howell as Carrie White, cast in the legendary titular role following an extensive search that saw more than 1,000 actors read. The ensemble of series regulars also includes Samantha Sloyan (The Pitt) as Margaret White, Siena Agudong (Resident Evil) as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton (Fire Country) as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette (My Life with the Walter Boys) as Tommy Ross, Josie Tota (The Buccaneers) as Tina, Arthur Conti (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) as Billy, Thalia Dudek (The Running Man) as Emaline, Amber Midthunder (Prey) as Miss Desjardin, and Matthew Lillard (Man of Tomorrow) as Principal Grayle.

Carrie is written and executive produced by showrunner Mike Flanagan (Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Hill House) with Flanagan also directing four episodes. Stephen King also serves as executive producer. The series is an Amazon MGM Studios production.

Stephen King’s debut novel Carrie was published in 1974, launching a career in which his books have sold more than 350 million copies worldwide. The novel spent 14 weeks on The New York Times Best Seller list and has been translated into more than 35 languages. Brian De Palma’s 1976 film adaptation, an Academy Award–nominated feature, cemented the story’s cultural impact; this year marks the film’s 50th anniversary.

Today, Apple TV unveiled the trailer for “Snoopy Presents: There’s No Place Like Home Snoopy,” premiering globally on Friday, July 31. In the new original special under the Snoopy Presents banner, Snoopy is devastated when his beloved doghouse is accidentally sold at a yard sale. In an effort to cheer up his pal, Charlie Brown leads Snoopy on an adventure to find his old doghouse, and along the way, they learn what makes a house truly a home.

Universal Horror Unleashed in Las Vegas is bringing the iconic world of Resident Evil to life in an all-new deadly takeover, inspired by Capcom’s global phenomenon. During this summer horror experience, guests will be immersed in fan-favorite moments, solve interactive puzzles, meet legendary characters, and witness epic battles against the undead. Those brave enough can step inside the living nightmare and test their survival skills beginning July 9 through August 30, 2026, at the ultimate horror experience.

As guests enter Universal Horror Unleashed, they’ll immediately be welcomed into the alternate world of Resident Evil and venture through six zones within the venue to help contain the outbreak that has taken over. Beginning their journey in Zone 1: Arrival, they are greeted with a battered “Welcome to Raccoon City” sign. As emergency lights flash, police scramble to contain the rapidly spreading outbreak caused by Umbrella Corporation’s T-Virus. From there, fans move to Zone 2: Mission, where they arrive at the Raccoon City Police Department, ready to solve a series of interactive puzzles. As they race against the clock, they’ll enter Zone 3: Infection, where they must enter the heart of the infected zone – a quarantined spot in Raccoon City where the last remaining citizens have transformed into ravenous, flesh-eating zombies. Amid the chaos, they’ll see familiar faces like the infamous Ada Wong.

Pushing through the outbreak, they’ll enter Zone 4: Combat and come face-to-face with iconic characters from the Resident Evil franchise, including Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine and Leon S. Kennedy. As terror turns into adrenaline, guests will be at the forefront of the battles between these heroic characters, surrounding zombies and notorious villains. Once the dust settles, guests will be invited to take photos and interact with the characters. As they approach Zone 5: Escape, guests enter the final stretch of their journey, where they must survive the final mission.

Those who survive will enter Zone 6: Aftermath, where they can step inside Umbrella Corporation and dine on limited-time themed food and cocktails for purchase inspired by the T-Virus and its mutations – but they must be on the lookout, as they never know who may emerge around the corner…

Being a werewolf sucks. Reporter Larry Chaney wanted to be a hero. Instead, he became a werewolf. Now, caught between incredible new powers and a desire to eat everything (and everyone) in sight, Larry must find a cure for his curse. Or die trying.

Rob Saucedo spoke about expanding the world he created while embracing everything he loves about the medium:

“As a lifelong fan of werewolves, mystery novels, and the weirdness that is Texas, the first Where Wolf comic book was born from my desire to tell the ultimate werewolf story for fans of the werewolf genre. I worked with great partners to get it out into the world, including Fangoria and Encyclopocalypse, and producers Charles Horak and James Fino.

With Where Wolf, I wanted to tell a whodunit set in a furry convention, so the story was pretty contained within a very specific setting and genre. With Curse of the Where Wolf, I wanted to celebrate everything I love about the possibility of comic books. Curse of the Where Wolf is a funny book, in every sense of the phrase, but it's also an earnest look at a person's struggle to become a better version of themselves, especially when the alternative is to become a literal monster.

Fans of the first book are going to find the same mix of horror and comedy, but I think they’re going to be even more surprised by the book's heart and humanity. Both books are collaborations with incredibly talented partners. Debora Lancianese is a master of comedy, crafting characters that come to life with humanity and humor. Jack Morelli is an industry legend. To say that I've worked with a man who's worked with both Stan Lee and Archie Andrews blows my mind."

Blending the irreverent energy of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, the supernatural chaos of Dungeon Crawler Carl, and the horror-comedy sensibilities of I Hate This Place, Curse of the Where Wolf delivers laugh-out-loud comedy, genuine emotion, and monstrous mayhem. VIZ Media (booth #1914) delivered one of its biggest Anime Expo showcases to date, headlined by the world premiere of BLACK TORCH, the launch of GalaXic Baseball League, a new original sci-fi manga from acclaimed artist Acky Bright, and fan experiences celebrating some of Japan's most beloved franchises.

Throughout Anime Expo, VIZ brought together fans, creators and industry partners through exclusive premieres, creator programming, retail activations and immersive exhibits, including the debut of the first-ever official Studio Ghibli Pop-Up Shop in the United States, the return of the fan-favorite Shonen Jump Pop-Up Shop, and a one-of-a-kind BLEACH Artist Gallery.

BLACK TORCH Makes Its Anime Premiere

VIZ Media and Crunchyroll hosted the world premiere of BLACK TORCH, giving fans an exclusive first look at Episode 1 during a special Anime Expo panel featuring English voice actors AJ Beckles (Jiro) and Keith Silverstein (Rago).

Aspiring manga creators packed VIZ Media's Making Manga panel, where VIZ editors pulled back the curtain on the creative journey from pitch to publication. The session also featured Antoniette Sluytman, creator of the VIZ One Shot Deepseeker, who shared insights into developing original manga.
