Yuvaratna is back and this time he has come up with a rather high voltage treat. How strong he has been and how the audience has received him this time, let us see.

Story:

Sriman Narayana (NBK) is a lecturer at a college and he is known for his strict way, he doesn’t stand injustice and bashes the bulbs out of anyone. In this process, he meets Janaki (Sneha) and she falls for him in due course. But Janaki has got a flashback which has to do with Sriman Narayana as well. What is that flashback? Who is Sriman Narayana? All this forms the rest of the story.

Performances:

Balakrishna has come back to his original form with his punch dialogues, typical body language and mass appeal. However, age is showing on him and voice has stuttered a bit, overall he carried his bit well with his blissful smile.

Sneha Ullal is sweet but her blank expressions still continue. She must learn to open her mouth and speak while saying the dialogues. Looks wise she rocks.

Nayantara looks elegant and is all decked up like a bride at all times. Her role was brief but she did justice to it.

Namitha covers half of the screen and seems to be building up pounds with each passing film. It is about time she does something about her flab.

K R Vijaya has come back after a hiatus of sorts but she still has that composure and grace, she was the apt choice for her role.

Sai Kumar (Malayalam) was okay, Aditya Menon was apt, he has strong screen presence, Brahmi was wasted, Ali was not used, Krishna Bhagawan was barely there, Venu brought few forced smiles, Rehman was standard, LB was regular, Kota was nice, Jeevi, Kinnera, Shravan, Anand Bharathi, Sana and others did their bit to add value.

Old story line

Analysis:

After a long gap, it’s a relief for Balakrishna’s fans. The movie scores good this time. But there is no freshness in story line or narration part. It’s the same old cutting heads with axe and there is some change in the design of weapon. The climax sequence is lifted from Magadheera with the fight scene in the same old place where the protagonist’s father fights and dies.

The dialogues of Balayya brought good response in theatres:

Nenu maatladetappudu nee chevule pani cheyyali. Adi tappa vere edainaa pani cheste neeku next birth day undadhu.

Charitra srushtinchalanna, tiraga raayalanna maa vamsame cheyyaali

Although they aren’t great dialogues to underline, the fans those awaited an action packed movie from many years are taking them as holy sentences.

In a fight scene Balayya’s punch of the fist lands on the face of a patient who lies in coma for 28 years. The patient gets up instantly. Doctors get stunned and exclaim, “Wow! What a wonder. Science andani power itani punch lo undi”. Thank god! The director limited the exaggeration with one scene. Otherwise, it would have become another omnibus of exaggerations.

Songs scored good marks on a whole.

‘Simha Simha…’ was shot on Namita and Balakrishna and it’s visually just ok.
‘Orabba..’ is the number shot in a pub with Balayya, Namitha and Sneha Ullal. When Sneha Ullal was seen in a frame with Namitha, she looked like a scooty beside lorry.
‘Bangaru Konda..’ has captivated with rich costumes on Nayantara and Balayya.
‘Kanulara..’ is on Nayan, Balayya and family members in temple background which is good to watch
‘Janaki Janaki..’ is with Balayya and Sneha Ullal and that’s good to watch.
The song ‘Achcha hai acha hai…’ is missing totally.

First half is average with no exciting moments and the second half is packed with high dose action-, although predictable. On a whole, it’s a treat for fans, headache for family audiences and a disappointment for those who wish to watch something new and fresh.

Bottom Line: Better than Balayya's recent movies.

Sneha Ullal born on December 18th, 1987 in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman is a promising Bollywood actress.

Sneha Ullal is a Mangalorean born of Indian origin parents. Her father, Nitin Ullal is the General Manager of a reputed construction company in Oman and stays there in Oman, while Sneha and her mother moved to Mumbai.

Sneha Ullal studied at Durelo Convent High School in Mumbai and later studied at MMK College, where she befriended Arpita, her college mate and the younger sister of Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The friendship led to the chance meeting with Salman Khan, who was greatly impressed by her charm and look-alike beauty of Aishwarya Rai. Thus was launched her movie career.

She made her debut with "Lucky: No Time for Love" in 2005 starring opposite Salman Khan. The following year she acted in "Aryan" {2006} opposite Sohail Khan, brother of Salman Khan. In 2007 she starred in "Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron" along side Anupam Kher. She has also acted in an English movie "Gandhi Park" {2007}. Dynamic director Gunasekhar has finally arrived after the debacle of ‘Sainikudu’ and this time, he took the concept of an authentic Telugu marriage and a mysterious bride, was he successful in appealing to the audience, let us see.
Story:

Sandeep (Allu Arjun) is a happy go lucky guy who is fun loving but very traditional at heart. He decides to get married in the traditional fashion of five-day events and 16 day celebrations. So much so that he decides not to see the face of the bride until the ‘Jeelakarra Bellam’ time. True to his idealism, even the bride Deepthi (Bhanusri Mehra) sticks to it. Just when they are about to get married, Deepthi gets kidnapped by Diwakar (Arya). Why does Diwakar do that? Does the marriage happen? What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Performances:
Allu Arjun, given his highly energetic image, this comes across as a mild character which was etched out poorly so the flair of Allu Arjun is missing. He needs to work on his dialogue delivery as a lot of accent is surfacing.

Bhanu Mehra is not worth the mystery. Barring the beauty spot on her chin and expressive eyes, there is not much from her in terms of glamour or performance.

Arya has a strong screen presence and powerful eyes but then his role was not drawn properly and he was not used to the fullest potential. However, he brought some life to the movie at few places.

Brahmi was waste, so was Ahuti Prasad, the others like Ashish Vidyarthi, Suhasini, Naresh, Vinaya were just for brand value and they didn’t have much to offer. Singeetam Sreenivasa Rao, the senior director did his bit as required. Lavakusha Nagaraju appears in a single frame. Nasser was natural, Sayaji Shinde was brief, Rao Ramesh came and went. The other bunch of real time families and supporting artistes were there to fill the screen, that’s all.

Fight on twin towers (I visualized them so..somebody said they looked like Nuclear Reactors/ Gas Chambers)
Truck carrying away the hero along with bike rubbing against the road with sparks…and hero safe and steady
Hero running away with heroine along with Saline bottle in an action episode

Analysis
It is a laudable thought to come up with a presentation of an authentic Telugu wedding but the difference between a thought and getting it onto the screen is like chalk and cheese which is evident here. Gunasekhar has missed the way to do ‘Varudu’ impressively.

The entire episode of 5-day marriage is covered in just one song out of which, the first Charanam appeared no less like an ‘Ammavari Jaathara’ on screen, the second charanam got covered up with computer graphics. Why the hero wants to go in for a pre historic style of marriage? Is it his idealism? Is it just a fantasy? The questions aren’t answered logically. There is forcible preaching with less convincing dialogues.

Ultimately, what matters is the purpose the film is made at such exorbitant costs and what is the message it is trying to convey. Gunasekhar failed not just in the narration but also in conveying anything to the audience. His focus to bring about visual appeal looked more but he neglected the fundamentals like a strong script, deep content, and attention towards details. Cinematic liberties were used to the fullest and there were some absolutely ridiculous scenes which perplexed the audience at many points. Gunasekhar has always been revered as a brand and not just a director but it is with regret that he has lost it…and that too big time. The film might have a decent opening due to the hype created but given the budget involved; only ‘no-competition factor’ and the presence of Allu Arjun should save it.
Bottom Line: Could have been made carefully

Review in Short:

Story: Varudu is about the bride and groom not deciding to see each other till they are married. Though they have no idea as to how each of them look like, they have better understanding of Sanskrit, scriptures, religion, rituals and are well versed in defining love and matters of the heart. So when the bride is kidnapped half way through the wedding, she preserves her chastity until he the Varudu returns to find her and be rewarded with the ultimate kiss that contemporary Telugu cinema has never seen. If that's not enough she asks him, "Inkem kavali?" while the predators, the modern villains with weapons are waiting to finish them off.

The groom carries her and jumps into the water, swims ashore only to realize that's he has been famished. With a saline bottle in hand and the bride in the other he rolls over, tumbles on rocky terrains and finally helps her regain consciousness with two pieces of steaming idlis. But why has the bride been kidnapped? A good looking hunk but a psycho character with a funny name takes a fancy for her and vows to make her his wife. But mid way through the film he is challenged by the hero that if he is man enough he should come to the venue of their marriage and take her away. The crazy chap waits for the Varudu to marry the vadhuvu patiently and then unleashes torture. Why does he wait? He has another psycho answer for that.

The finale is liberation time for Aarya the villain as well as the audience. Finally you are left wondering if you have seen a mythological film or a love story where strangers fantasise traditional arranged marriage.

Biography
Sridevi, also known as Sreedevi Ayyapan, was born on August 13, 1965 in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu. She is an Indian actress who has starred in hundreds of Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films.

Personal
Her parents were Ayyappan, a lawyer, and Rajeswari. Sridevi has a sister, Srilatha, and a brother named Satish. Sridevi's mother is from Andhra Pradesh and her father from Tamil Nadu.

Her father died while she was filming Lamhe, her mother while she was making Judaai. Although it is the Hindu custom that the son lights the funeral pyre, Sridevi lit the pyre for her mother's last rites.

Numerous sources claim that Sridevi had a relationship with actor Mithun Chakraborty from 1986 to 1987, and ended the relationship when she found out that he had not divorced his first wife, Yogita Bali. Many versions of this story say that the couple was secretly married and the marriage was later annulled. It is not clear how much of this story is true and how much is gossip.

Sridevi married film producer Boney Kapoor on June 2, 1996. The couple has two daughters, Jhanvi and Khushi. Through her husband she is related to the large Surinder Kapoor film clan. Actor Anil Kapoor, her co-star in many films, is her brother-in-law.

Career
Sridevi started her career as a child artiste in the Tamil movie Kandhan Karunai (1967). During her early adult career, she acted in a number of Tamil and Malayalam movies. Many of her Malayalam movies were directed by I. V. Sasi. Some examples of her notable Malayalam movies are: Aadhyapaadam, Aalinganam, Kuttavum Sikshaiyum, Aa Nimisham. In 1976, she got her first big break in Tamil movies as a heroine in K. Balachander's Moondru Mudichu, where she starred opposite both Kamal Haasan and Rajnikanth. In many ways, this movie was a landmark in Tamil filmdom. It was also one of Rajnikanth's first major movies. After Moondru Mudichu, Sridevi had a succession of huge hits with both these Tamil superstars. She also appeared on Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai for Karishma Kapoor (2004) and as a judge in the TV show Kaboom (2005). She also starred in the Lux ad along with Shah Rukh Khan. She is slated to return to the big screen in a sequel to Mr India.

She is a member of the Board of Directors at the Asian Academy of film and television.

She performed an 80's medley at the 52nd Filmfare Awards on February 24th, 2007 to a grand reception from fans and colleagues.

Manisha Koirala, born on August 16, 1970 in Kathmandu, Nepal, is an award-winning prominent Bollywood actress, UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador and social activist. She is also an accomplished Bharatnatyam and Manipuri dancer. Koirala, who made her acting debut in Bollywood with the film First Love Letter (1991), had her first commercial success with Subhash Ghai's Saudagar from the same year. She went on to be one of the most versatile actresses of her generation, working with some of the most prominent film directors of her times. Though most of her films have not done well at the box office but her niche as an actor remains harmless irrespective of box office collections. During her years in Bollywood, Koirala mostly ventured into more serious and realistic cinema, rather than commercial one. Today, she is considered to be one of the finest actresses in the Indian industry.

Early life

Manisha Koirala was born into the politically prominent Koirala family; Her grandfather Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala was the Prime Minister of Nepal during the late 50s-early 60s, as well as two of her great uncles, Girija Prasad Koirala and MP Koirala. She studied at New Delhi's Army Public School and Vasant Kanya Mahavidhyalaya (VKM) Varanasi. She lived with her grandmother in Varanasi during her studies. Her ambition was to be a doctor, but a modelling stint opened a career path into Bollywood.

Her brother is Siddharth Koirala is also an actor.

Recently she returned from New York after receiving a diploma in filmmaking. She also became a member of an independent filmmaker's society.

Career

Her first film was Pheri Bhetaula (We shall meet again), a Nepali movie released in early 1989. Her first Hindi movie was Subhash Ghai's Saudagar in 1991. The film proved to be a good beginning, as it was the biggest hit of the year. After that, she went on work with some of the most prominent film directors of Bollywood.

She went on to star in many critically and commercially successful films such as Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 1942: A Love Story (1994) and Mani Ratnam's Tamil film Bombay (1995). Her performance in the latter was critically appreciated and won her the Filmfare Best Performer Award. She was also seen in more commercial films. Her role as a reigning srar in Mansoor Khan's romantic musical Akele Hum Akele Tum (1995) opposite Aamir Khan gave her a Filmfare nomination for Best Actress.1996 was her year with her films Agni Sakshi doing well at the box office and her highly acclaimed performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directional debut Khamoshi: The Musical, where she played a daughter to deaf parents. She won her second successive Filmfare Best Performer Award and a Star Screen Award for Best Actress for her performance in Khamoshi.

One year later in 1997, she played the leading role alongside Kajol and Bobby Deol in the thriller Gupt: The Hidden Truth, which was one of the biggest hits of the year.She went to collaborate once again with Mani Ratnam, and starred in his award-winning film Dil Se (1998) opposite Shahrukh Khan. Her role received similar good reviews, and gave her various award nominations. Despite performing poorly at the box office in India, the film proved to be a hit overseas.

Since then, she has been part of several critically and commercially successful projects. She won favorable reviews for her role as a traffic accident victim in the averagely received Mann (1999), which also entered into the top five highest grossing films of the year; She was the leading actress in the moderately successful Kachche Dhaage (1999), and Rajkumar Santoshi's critically acclaimed Lajja (2001). Her performance as a rape victim who quests for justice in the film Grahan (2001) was also much appreciated.

In 2002, She starred opposite Ajay Devgan in Ram Gopal Verma's Company. The film was critically acclaimed, as well as Koirala's performance in it, and she won her third Filmfare Best Performer Award.

In 2003, she ventured into strong woman-oriented films such as Escape From Taliban which won her the BFJA Best Actress Award. She was also the main protagonist in the movie Market where she enacted a role of a prostitute, portraying a whole life story.

In 2004, she produced the small-budget caper-comedy Paisa Vasool in which she starred along with Sushmita Sen and was directed by Srinivas Bhashyam; this was probably the first ever chick-flick in Indian cinema in that it did not have a male lead nor a love story.

Overall, Koirala starred as the leading role in 6 high-budget, successful Tamil movies: Bombay (1994) co-starring Arvind Swamy, Indian (1996) co-starring Kamal Hassan, Mudhalvan (1999) co-starring Arjun, Aalavandhan (2001) co-starring Kamal Hassan, Baba (2002) co-starring Rajnikanth and Mumbai Express (2005) co-starring Kamal Hassan.

Since then, She has appeared in various unsuccessful films, some of them being well received, such as the drama thriller Tum - A Dangerous Obsession (2005) and the horror film Anjaane - The Unknown (2006). Her last release was Anwar in 2007. She is also set to star in Deepa Mehta's foreign film Exclusion.Social Work
In September 1999, Koirala was appointed as a UNFPA Goodwill Ambassador. She is actively involved in social work, specifically working with organizations to promote women’s rights, prevention of violence against women, and also to prevent the human trafficking of Nepali girls for prostitution.

Controversies

In 2002, Manisha accused the director of the film Ek Chotisi Love Story Shashilal Nair of using Koirala's body double to shoot some love scenes in the film and portraying her in bad light by shooting obscene postures using another actress in her place, without Manisha's approval to do so. Koirala required from Nair to re-shoot these scenes because the double's body did not match her physique and required that these scenes be deleted from the film. Koirala had also claimed that Nair stipulated to re-shoot the scenes if she agrees to bear half the expenses.“ I always believed in Shashi. I did this film out of sheer goodwill. I had nothing to gain from it financially as I did the film for free. I also gave him all the dates immediately. It was his first chance to direct a film in four years. He has a family to support and I couldn't bear to see a friend in hardship. ”

Koirala decided to sued Nair and dragged him to court. She has moved the court against the filmmaker, and objected to the alleged nudity and obscene postures, saying she had not performed in these scenes and that Nair had made use of another actress for this. Koirala has pleaded that these scenes be deleted from the film. Finally, the court decided to stay the release of the film.

Another controversy occurred In February 2006, when a wake of protests by section of people following a media report claimed Koirala had named her pet dog after a revered Muslim figure, which caused to demonstrations against her. Koirala was provided police security to prevent any problem. In the following days, The accusations continued. However, Koirala denied the accusations and the Police said the actress had no pet at all.

Biography:Katrina is a Kashmiri-Brit fusion as his father was Indian and mom was English. Katrina was born on July 16th 1983 in Hong Kong; her family lived for a while in Hawaii and the moved to London. Katrina has seven other siblings and all sisters. Katrina started modeling when she was fourteen and her first shoot was for a jewellery brand. Katrina continued modeling in London and was approached by Kaizad Gustad for his film ‘Boom’; after which the model decided to move to Mumbai.

Born on July 16, 1984 Katrina Kaif is one of eight siblings, all girls, from a mother who is a Caucasian of British Nationality, and a father who was formerly from Kashmir, India, but who has since acquired British citizenship.
Katrina grew up in Hawaii, but was brought up in London, UK. She started modeling accidentally when she was in Hawaii at the tender age of 14, when she was approached for a jewelery campaign. Thereafter she continued modeling in London.
Continuing to model was the reason she got her break in a Bollywood movie "Boom" offered by none other than film-maker Kaizad Gustad.
She was flooded with modeling assignments the minute she set her foot on Indian soil, especially with her innocent expressive face, hour-glass figure, and drop-dead gorgeous looks.

At last the suspense is over. It is not Rajinikanth or Bala Krishna who would star in the Telugu version of Chandramukhi-2. The producerBellamkonda Suresh has bought the remake rights of Vishnuvardhanstarrer Kannada movie Aptha Rakshaka and is making the movie as Chandramukhi-2 in Telugu.

The film has been a grand success in Kannada. So much so that on the opening day in Bangalore the tickets have been sold for even 3000 rupees in black.

P.Vasu, who made the super hit 'Chanti' with Venkatesh before, will remake his Kannada blockbuster in Telugu. Producer Suresh has planned to start shooting of the movie this May. He further reveals that 'Aptharakshaka' is a family entertainer and will suit the taste of Telugu audience. He welcomed the Vasu – Venkatesh combination after a long time and expected to be a blockbuster just like the Kannada version. Mean while 'Victory' Venkatesh is excited about this untitled project. Sources say he saw the Kannada version and would love to do it. Venkatesh would be elated to have his tag 'Victory' stuck to him with projects like these.
