Animations: Mikey Carong anyone who has a pulse… until now, when Dutch artist Bart Jansen created the Orvillecopter, by deciding to clothe his quadrotor in the skin of his dead cat. The whine of the motors are a terrifying mockery of the purrs and meows of a live animal, and Orville’s (named after Orville Wright, the aviator) glassy eyes stare transfixed at a horizon only he can see. While most people’s immediate reaction when their beloved childhood pet perishes in a traffic motor vehicle incident is not to stuff and mechanize it, I applaud this man’s misguided attempt at keeping the memory of poor Orville alive by creating a whirring, clicking, swooping monster. In the future, this may open the door to hundreds of stuffed Fluffys and Fidos, fetching the paper in death just as they shredded it to pieces on the front porch in life. Truthfully, while the Orvillecopter is hovering about European museums and touring art exhibits, I think the most useful and completely hilarious usage of the catacopter is in the video below: scaring the bejesus out of animals and people by diving at their faces. Really, how absolutely glee filled would you be if you could spend eternity with your beloved pet, chasing elderly women through the park and screeching out of dark corners at unsuspecting children? Look, I realize that I find this and many other inappropriate things funny in a horrible way. You’ll get used to it. It’s the wonderful, absolutely nonsensical things like these that make the Internet such a great/awful place.

The satellite images combine visible and infrared wavelengths of light, creating a 121-megapixel shot every 30 minutes — giving one of the clearest looks at our planet.

The guy responsible for this timelapse happens to also have an interactive websitewith oodles of space videos and zoomable images taken from orbiting satellites. His Tumblr is pretty dope too — if you’re a fan of the golden ratio and mind-blowing images of nature.

There are time that I wish I could even expand beyond those two monitors but that probably won’t happen for some time. So, like you I will have to make do with this awesome collection of computer man-caves with screens galore and make sure my drool towel is close at hand.

1. Carrot: Eye

Slice a carrot in half crosswise and it’s easy to see that the veggie resembles an eye—look closely and you’ll even notice a pattern of radiating lines that mimic the pupil and iris. 2. Walnut: Brain

The folds and wrinkles of a walnut bring to mind another human organ: the brain. The shape of the nut even approximates the body part, looking like it has left and right hemispheres. 6. Grapefruit: Breast

7. Tomato: Heart

Slice open a tomato and you’ll notice the red veggie has multiple chambers that resemble the structure of a heart. “Studies have found that because of the lycopene in tomatoes, there is a reduced risk for heart disease in men and women who eat them,” says Somer. 8. Red Wine: Blood

Red wine, which is rich in antioxidants and polyphenols, including powerful resveratrol, looks like blood. “When you drink it, you’re really loading up on the healthy stuff that protects against destructive things in the blood, like LDL cholesterol, which can cause heart disease,” says Somer. “There’s also a blood-thinning compound in red wine, so it reduces blood clots, which are associated with stroke and heart disease.” Photos by iStockphoto

Anyone who’s ever reached for a glass of ginger ale when they’ve had a stomachache knows about the antinausea effects of ginger. So it’s fitting that the herb somewhat resembles the digestive organ. It sounds too good to be true, but it can be done really easily. For the past year or so, I have been attending movies in theaters before they’ve been released. I pay nothing to see them, and to top it off, there are often no previews, so 100 minutes actually means 100 minutes.

Some movie studios provide free screenings of movies. They do this to build interest in a movie, to do research, and to allow the press to review it. If people have a good experience, they’ll tell their friends and write positive reviews.

These are the same movies you can see a few weeks later for $12 a pop. Over the past six months, I’ve seen The Green Hornet (awesome movie!), The Next Three Days, and Limitless, among others, all a few weeks before they were released to the general public, and all for the family friendly price of “on the house.” (See also: Never Pay for a RedBox DVD Rental Again)

How to See Movies in the Theater for Free
It’s a very simple process, you just need to know where to look. There are two main sites that I frequent — GoFobo and Film Metro — though I’m sure there are others I haven’t heard of. Some of the screenings will be available to you, in which case you just need to reserve and print your tickets (each reservation typically comes with two). For some movies, you’ll need an RSVP code first. A good place to look for those is rsvpcodes.com, where people enter city and movie-specific codes for others to use.

What to Know Before Attending a Screening
There are several things you should keep in mind for these screenings:

1. Reserving a ticket doesn’t guarantee you access to a movie.
For most movies, people enter on a first-come, first-served basis. I usually find that getting to the theater 30 minutes early is plenty.

2. Not every movie will be available.
I’ve never been disappointed by the selection, but when movies are free, it’s a little difficult to complain if something’s not perfect.

3. It might not work in rural areas.
If you live in the middle of Montana, it’s unlikely that there are a lot of screenings in your area. I live in Los Angeles , CA., where free screenings are very common.

Enjoy your new knowledge, and feel free to go crazy with the popcorn and soda. When you save $20+ on a movie, there’s no harm in splurging a little on the snacks!
