Simple Zinnias Scrapbooking Layout

As you know, Close to My Heart has closed and I have landed at Stampin' Up! Many years ago I concentrated on cardmaking, but in the past 10 years I have found myself surrounded by scrapbookers and fell in love with the Close to My Heart kits. I spent many hours putting them together so that my customers could see them in person.

Stampin' Up! is starting up a Scrapbooking Line but it is not here yet. I have decided to change up the way I do business and start designing Scrapbooking Layouts and post videos on my YouTube channel. Gulp!! I had never edited videos nor had I really designed Scrapbooking pages so this is a very large ambition and it has taken me a bit of time to get everything set up for my first layout video.

Life Is A Hoot Card Workshop Remake

I love the new Life is a Hoot Cardmaking Workshop but I am not very good with Watercolor Colored Pencils. I tried. I really did. And then I grabbed my TriBlend Alcohol Markers.

It changed up the cards entirely. I followed the instructions exactly, but substituted Dusty Purple Blend, Pale Pink Blend, and Ice Blue Blend TriBlend Markers. I also substituted Lagoon Ink for the Glacier Ink since I needed a more vibrant ink to go with the markers.

I also used my Clear Shimmer Brush and my Mint Shimmer Brush.

Hope & Kindness Artwork

For National Scrapbooking Month, Close to My Heart has released a gorgeous paper suite called Hope & Kindness. Don't you just love the title? I do.

with an accompanying stamp set + thin cuts

and a very elegant set of doily thin cuts that you MUST have in your craft stash.

I finished putting the Scrapbooking workshop that one of our Makers designed for this promotion and had a lot of scraps left so I decided to make some cards with them. Here they are:

This card used leftover patterned paper, cardstock, and a PML card from the PML card sheet from Hope & Kindness. I added a die cut from the promotion and 4 stickers. And check out the Platinum Stickles in the middle of the flowers. Easy peasy, but very pretty.

With this card, I was just playing. I used the large doily thin cut and cut a 4" x 6" PML card. It didn't fit but I just wanted the center to fit so I could make a Shaker Card. I used a large circle Thin Cut to cut the part of the doily I wanted and then cut the center out with our largest Circles Thin Cuts. Then I made a shaker with our Circle Shaker Window Thin Cuts and Circle Shaker Window Foam + Acetate. Then I over-filled it with our Bright Bitty Beads. I added our Rose Gold Shimmer Trim. The background paper is the Cardstock from the Hope & Kindness paper suite. Isn't this cool?

My last card is a 4" x 6" PML card that was too pretty not to use. I stamped "heart" and "with all my" with Harbour Ink onto the Sage Cardstock from this promotion. The rest of the card is just a few flowers I fussy cut from the pattern paper and popped up with foam tape plus the die cuts and the beautiful doily I cut using the Fancy Doily thin cuts and White Daisy Cardstock. I also added some Platinum Stickles.

Normally I am not a "pink person" but when I saw the beautiful cardstock and the adorable patterned paper, I was hooked.

I couldn't wait to work with it. I made 3 different cards:

Each of my cards use the Wild Berry Blast Cardstock and the Wild Berry Blast Patterned Paper with Stickers. I used the stickers for my sentiments in each of these cards to make it fast and easy to put together. I also used the Sunburst Die to make the background. I intended to make only one card, but I had so many pieces cut that I made two more. I still have more pieces I can make with more leftover pieces. I also added Wild Berry Glitter Gems to each of my cards.

In this card I balanced the Wild Berry with some Gold Glitter Paper. This makes for a very elegant card.

With this card I added some Ballerina Glitter Paper and Nectarine Cardstock. The flowers are cut out using our Layered Flowers Thin Cuts. These are my all-time favorite flower die cuts.

And finally, I added our Silver Foil Paper to go with the Silver Embossed Cardstock from the Wild Berry Blast Cardstock. I also added Silver Embellishing Thread.

Let me tell you about my treat pouch. It is called a diaper fold treat pouch. They take a 6" x 6" piece of double sided paper. Woo hoo!! I looked on my website and found that a retired product was still available on my website. It is a bundle of 6" x 6" pieces of double sided paper called our Bright Bundle - win, win!!

I stamped the cute taco and sentiment with Intense Black Ink and then colored it with these TriBlend Markers: Citrus Green Blend; Coral Blend; Coral Shades; Gold Brown Blend; and Gold Yellow Blend.

I matted the stamped images with scraps and I doodled around the edges with a Black Journaling Pen.

April SOTM Blog Hop - Message in A Bottle

The April Stamp of the Month is entitled Message in a Bottle (S2204) (Set of 21). Here is a picture of this stamp set:

Such a pretty stamp set. It just begged to be colored in with our TriBlend Markers. I wanted each of my bottles to be a different color like some of the old bottles I have seen in thrift stores.

Here is my card:

I stamped the 3 bottles and their contents with Intense Black Ink. Here are the Markers I used: Ice Grey Blend; Ice Grey Shades; Vintage Blue; Pale Pink Blend; Pale Pink Shades; Citrus Green Blend; Fair Skin Blend; Gold Brown Blend; Earth Brown Blend; and the Blender Pen.

I "washed" the background with our Gold Shimmer Brush. It makes it very sparkly. I colored the stars in the middle bottle with the Sundance Shimmer Brush and the circle in that same bottle with the Raspberry Shimmer Brush. I also added Platinum Stickles to that middle bottle.

The corks are stamped with Toffee Ink, and the table grain is added with our Black Journaling Pen.

I used the black word patterned paper from our March-April Mix In Paper Pack.

I wanted to make a card for my daughter-in-law using this stamp set. My son is in the Navy and has orders to go to Cuba for 18 months. They have 3 boys and my son is a very active father. His presence will be greatly missed. I want to remind my daughter-in-law that she is not alone and I would love to help.

Here is my card:

I love these kind of cards that use scraps. I cut 3/4" strips from the As You Grow Paper Pack and placed the strips as I liked on this card front. The pieced panel was adhered with Thin 3D Foam Tape. I love dimension to add some interest to my artwork.

The sentiment and the outline is from the February Stamp of the Month and is stamped in Harbour Ink onto White Daisy Cardstock. You will see stickers from the As Your Grow Paper Pack with Stickers. I colored a wooden flower from the Wood Flower Embellishments with Mulberry Shimmer Brush and I applied a Silver Glitter Gem in the middle of the flower. Then sentiment is adhered onto Harbour Glitter Paper.

I used the Sweet as Honey Paper Pack with Stickers along with our Black Glitter Paper to make this layout. I matted my photos and the center panel with our Solid Core Black Cardstock. I applied ink with a honeycomb stencil I made on my Cricut. I added some Gold Glitter Gems, and , of course, I just had to add dimension with our Thin 3D Foam Tape.

The instructions for this workshop will be available for download on my Maker website. We will also be hosting virtual crafting events for the Smitten Workshop on January 27 and January 31 on the Close To My Heart (Official) Facebook page, via Facebook live. During the January 27 event, we’ll work through the cutting guides for the entire workshop and create the scrapbook layouts and cards. On January 31, we’re turning the event into a special CTMH Kids Crafts event with Close To My Heart President, Monica Wihongi’s daughter, Maya! During this kid’s event, Maya will be teaching viewers how to create the fun treat holders that round out this workshop.

The Smitten suite will be available from December 1 through February 28, while supplies last.

So, now let me show you my layout:

My layout base is the Ballerina Cardstock from the Smitten Cardstock Paper Pack. I used the Smitten Patterned Paper Pack + Stickers. I grabbed a sheet of Nectarine Cardstock to bring in the Nectarine in this pattern. I embellished with the Capri Shimmer Trim and the white dots from the Black and White Dots Pack. I also doodled with our Black .05 Journaling Pen. And, of course, I wanted to add dimension with our Thin 3D Foam Tape.

December Stamp of the Month - Owl Love You Forever Blog Hop

The December Stamp of the Month is entitled Owl Love You (S2112) (Set of 9). Here is a picture of this stamp set:

Oh my goodness!! I am a child of the 60's (and 70's) and this stamp set reminded me of my teens in California. I was a hippie and proud of it and I loved all the colors used in our posters and clothes. I embraced my hippiehood and sat down happily to make this card.

Here is my card:

Look how vibrant the colors are with our Spectrum Noir TriBlend Markers! I would love to tell you what colors I used, but as you can see, I used practically all of them. Then I added some of our shimmer brushes over the TriBlend Markers. You just can't get too much glitter and shimmer.

I used White Daisy Cardstock and our new Black Core Cardstock to make this card. And yes, that is Gold Glitter Paper. I think it really caused the stamped panel to POP!! I then added gold stars from our Gold Star Confetti adhered with our new Quickie Glue Pen. The speckles you see are actually tiny droplets of our new Gilt Gloss Spray. I grabbed a small paint brush and splattered the Gilt paint onto the stamped panel after I was finished coloring.

The images were stamped with our Black Archival Ink and then heat embossed with our Super Fine Clear Embossing Powder.

The stamped panel was adhered with Thin 3D Foam Tape. I love dimension to add some interest to my artwork. Plus the 3D Foam Tape adheres well to the glitter paper. Win-win.

I absolutely adore the thin cuts from this promotion so sat down yesterday and cut a bunch out of different types of paper and instead of making 1 card, I made 3 cards. So much fun!!

All of the images were stamped with Intense Black Ink and colored in with our Spectrum Noir TriBlend markers. I used Pale Pink Blend, Pale Pink Shades, Magenta Blend, Pink Violet Blend, Coral Shades, Green Turquoise Blend, Alpine Green Blend, Ice Grey Blend, Citrus Blend, and Gold Yellow Blend.

I have really fallen in love with the Deck the Palms Card Front Thin Cuts.

I have used these thin cuts on all of my cards. I have learned to not throw pieces away and I was delighted that the "inside piece" of the frond thin cut worked better on my Flamingo card than the fronds that I intended to use.
