For Verve's November issue, make-up artist Subhash Vagal gave Deepika Padukone a suitably refined take on dark smudgy eyes. We wanted the look to have a hint of glitter and shimmer, but to still seem very contained. He started by rimming her lash lines with waterproof black liner, then blended a metallic gold shadow up to—but not above—the crease. Then, he swept shimmery black powder across the entire lid for a faded effect and winged it out, he dabbed it along the outter lash line, he then finished with tons of black mascara. This look accentuates the beautiful shape of Deepika's eyes and doesn't overpower her features.

Take a three way approach and you'll be golden: Spray, twirl and pin. Spritz strong-hold hairspray along the length of a thin section of hair. Twirl it around two fingers from the ends to the root until you have a round coil, then pin the coil at the roots. Repeat with 20 other pieces around your head, let set while you get ready and unravel the curls right before you leave the house.

According to Vimi Joshi, Senior M.A.C. Artist for Middle East and India, brown is the new black. And she should know, as it is her hands that transformed models' faces into colored canvases for the runway shows that are happening as part of the Fashion Arabia Expo, which you can view here, here and here.

What are your favorite colors to use, and which ones do you shy away from?
I love brown, it's such a gorgeous color and it looks great on all skin tones. For other colors, I love a challenge so I say bring it on!

How was your experience creating looks for the shows?
My team and I did all the runway shows, which was great. The first show was very nude, with a light color in the corner and then it became smokey as the day went on. We didn't take off the make-up completely for each show, instead we minimized and emphasized different areas of the models' faces. The models begged us not to completely remove and re-apply as their skin becomes very sensitive.

Any quick beauty tips?
Always moisturize first, then apply your foundation, mascara, lip color, and finally groom your brows. You'll be out of the door in no time.

Her way of doing it?
"It's important to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized, I recommend using M.A.C Studio Moisture Cream. Then you should apply foundation, to get a 3 in 1 effect, use M.A.C Studio Tech because it starts as a cream and then turns to powder. To contour the face, I like using M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Dark should be used. The purpose of contouring is to shade an area you want to minimize, so that you enhance features you like."

Vimi's Smoky Eye Steps:

Apply a light eyeshadow on the inner corner of your eye.
On the outer eye corner apply a dark shade such as M.A.C Brown Script Eye Shadow.
Line your eyes heavily with eyeliner and coat your lashes with mascara.
Keep the lips nude. Joshi suggests using M.A.C Spice Lip Pencil and M.A.C Revealing Tinted Lipglass to make your lips look pink and fresh.

She also says, "If baring it all is big for autumn, then so are highly sculptured features that have the slight element of a surgeon's hand about them. It's all about exploring the landscapes of the face to create a look that was highly photo-shopped." She recommends M.A.C Notoriety Eye Shadow Quad.

To get Kareena's gorgeous look follow these steps:
Skin
Even out your complexion with foundation and concealer, then apply a pea-sized amount of liquid gold luminizer to cheekbones, brow bones, and the bridge of the nose. Rub a small dot of cream blush on the apples of cheeks. With a makeup sponge, gently blend in a circular motion, working from the apple of the cheeks across and up the cheekbones. Apply highlighting powder to cheekbones, brow bones, and the bridge of the nose, where light naturally reflects.

Eyes
Apply a champagne gold eye shadow base on the lids of your eyes, all the way up to your crease. Add a sheer gold eye shadow on your lid, and blend a chocolate brown eyeshadow in the crease. Hold a strip of false lashes to your upper lid and cut them to the right length (measuring from the inner to the outer corner). Pick up lashes with tweezers and affix to the top lip from inner to outer corner. Line lids with a black eyeliner to blend the false eyelashes with your natural lashes, extend the eyeliner to create a cat eye. Gently curl lashes, then swipe mascara at the base only to avoid clumping. Frame your face by filling in brows with a powder one shade darker then your natural hair color. With a stiff, angled brush, use soft, wispy strokes to cover sparse spots.

Lips
To get that berry stain to look effortless and natural, apply a moisture-rich balm all over lips to smooth the surface. Line and fill lips with a chubby pencil that's as close to your natural lip color as possible. The liner gives your mouth a uniform base for color and will make your lip stain something to adhere to. To finish, add your stain and have a wonderful day.
