I just love design - a designer/photographer portfolio printed. I am very much excited as this is my first hard copy portfolio in a form of a book/magazine and I am happy with the end result. This book contains my works under the various categories such as

Web Designing,
Graphic Designing,
Photography etc.

Airtel's New Logo and Signature Tune

Bharti Airtel launched its New Logo on 18th Nov 2010. It is one of the largest telecommunication service provider and has 200 million subscribers and out of which 150 million are Indians. That's pretty gud! Isn't it?
The new curved addition to the logo is a symbol which will help ensure instant recognition across diverse international markets.

Besides the Logo, the company has also changed its signature tune which also has been refreshed by A.R Rehman making it more dynamic, youthful.

Vodafone has released its new commercial promoting its blackberry services. I found this ad to be a boosting and powerful ad. Because common guyz thinks that BB is for corporate guyz only, but this ad made people to think that BB is for everyone - a really nice concept behind it. Do check this out.

18 Points for great Logo Design

1. Do not use more than three colors.
2. Type must be easy enough for your grandma to read
3. The Logo must be recognizable
4. Create a unique shape or layout for the Logo
5. Do not combine elements from Popular Logos and claim it as original work
6. Do not use clipart under any circumstances
7. The Logo should look good in black and white
8. Make sure the logo is recognizable when inverted or resized
9. Do not use photoshop special effects
10. A photo does not make a logo
11. Each element of the logo must be aligned
12. If the brand name is memorable, the brand name should be the logo
13. The logo must be easy to describe
14. Do not use taglines in the logo
15. Sketch out ideas using paper and pencil before working on a computer
16. It should be honest in its representation
17. Avoid bright neon colors and dark dull colors

Hi friends, As this is my first post , So today I would like to tell you about some common mistakes which people usually do while designing logos for clients or for themselves.

Logo is a visual personality of your business. It projects the image of your business. So, its an essential part of your business. Quality of Logo suggests a superiority and inferiority of products. It shows a first impression of your business. Some of the common Logo mistakes that you can avoid.

1. Avoid Using Clipart as Logo

Many Softwares distribute clipart images but any one who is familiar with that software will easily recognize your copied logo. This reduces the crediblity of your Business.

2. The "Letters" Logo

Using the text as your logo will restrict the ability to express your company's uniqueness and memorablity. But still you can increase your logo's effectiveness by altering the letters and see if your logo works, If it works -its good otherwise need to consider a visual element.

3. Avoid using Filters

Try to make your Logo simple. Avoid adding special effects to it. Filters like glows, drop shadows etc because they can be distracting when applied to Logo. Don't give your Logo a raindow effect - means do not use more than three colors and make sure your logo should be able to impress in Black and white, without any effects.

4. Make it Simple

Apple Logo Journey

The, now well-known, American company Apple was the first computer firm not to use its name as its corporate identity. The idea of selling a computer under the name and image of a fruit was conceived by Californian Steve Jobs and his colleagues (even the word "Macintosh" is the name of an apple variety). The motive of a multicolored apple with a bite taken out of it is a reference to the Bible story of Adam and Eve, in which the apple represents the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge.

Imagine if Apple was still using their original logo designed by Steve Jobs and Ronald Wayne. Your iPhone would not look so cool with Isaac Newton sitting beneath a tree with an apple above his head just about to inspire him. Most people are not aware that the Apple logo derives from the noggin fruit hit on Sir Isaac Newton, not the Adam and Eve apple. Apple is not the root of all evil, as many think. Many companies have changed their logos and experienced growth in sales. Companies like Coca-Cola have not changed their logo for over 100 years, and remain a classic. Not too many companies are in that league. Change is good for some and others not too good. Tropicana tried to tinker with the logo and went too far, too revolutionary for some and the company paid the price. Tropicana veered too far and not slowly weened people to the new identity, so much that the product looked like a knock-off of themselves. Their straw going through the orange disappeared and the radical change was not met with enthusiasm, the criticism was so harsh that the company returned back to their roots.

Just imagine what an iBook or iPhone would look like with this image on it: definitely not as chic.Ronald Wayne designed Apple's original logo in 1976 when the company was still operating out of a garage.

It shows Isaac Newton sitting beneath a tree with an apple dangling precariously above his head.

Rob Janoff used the same apple in his redesign a year later.

"You can almost feel the '70s and '80s taking place when you take a look at that rainbow apple," says Bill Gardner, principal of Gardner Design.

Apple dropped the multi-colored logo in 1998 for a monochromatic version, produced in every color imaginable, until transitioning it to today's popular shade of chrome.
