SURAT TERBUKA KEPADA PROTON & DRB HICOM : SUPRIMA S & PUSAT SERVIS ANDA

Assalamualaikum & Selamat Sejahtera,

Yang Berbahagia Dato/Datin/Tuan/Puan,

Tujuan surat terbuka ini dikarangkan adalah ingin meluahkan rasa kecewa yang tidak terhingga ke atas produk dan perkhidmatan yang ditawarkan oleh pihak PROTON dan pusat servis PROTON.

2) Terlebih dahulu saya ingin memperkenalkan diri saya. Nama saya ialah Asfarizal Bin Shapari dan saya seorang penjawat awam yang bertugas di Selangor pada masa kini dan saya merupakan seorang suami kepada pemilik sebuah model keluaran PROTON iaitu SUPRIMA S (keluaran 2013- Didaftarkan pada 2014).

3) Semasa model Suprima S ini dilancarkan, saya dan isteri amat tertarik dengan ciri-ciri yang ditawarkan dan akhirnya kami sepakat untuk membeli model ini. Disini saya ingin menyenaraikan kronologi isu-isu yang kami hadapi untuk tiga (3) bulan pertama memiliki model ini:

i. Semasa menerima kunci kereta daripada jurujual di Istilah Wira Sdn Bhd (Pandamaran, Klang), ODO meter kereta ini telah mencatatkan jarak perjalanan 200KM. Saya amat terkejut kerana kereta baru tetapi telah mencatatkan perjalanan sejauh 200KM. Oleh kerana cetek pengetahuan dan tidak mahu mewujudkan isu lain, saya redha dan menerima kunci kenderaan BARU yang telah pun digunakan sejauh 200km yang dibawa daripada Perak (dakwaan jurujual).

ii. Semasa pemeriksaan awal sebelum kunci diterima, plastik bahagian "Arm Rest" di bahagian penumpang belakang telah bercalar. Sekali lagi saya bersikap redha dan menerima kekurangan tersebut.

iii. Semasa membawa pulang kenderaan tersebut, ketika saya menekan brek (tujuan untuk menguji), tempat duduk belakang (bahagian lebar-2 penumpang) JATUH!. Setelah diperiksa, pemegang tempat duduk tersebut (kunci) telah rosak dan tidak berfungsi. Saya telah membawa hal ini ke tiga pusat servis PROTON:

a. Pusat Servis Proton Mesra, Petronas Bukit Tinggi - Tidak dapat baiki alasan tiada peralatan.

b. Pusat Servis Proton Pelabuhan Klang (Depan kilang suspension) - Menasihatkan saya menuntut waranti di Istilah Wira Sdn Bhd (Pandamaran, Klang)

c. Istilah Wira Sdn Bhd - Meminta saya membuat temujanji, setelah 2 kali temujanji, saya dijanjikan tempat duduk belakang yang BARU yang hanya diterima selepas 3 BULAN!.

iv. Dalam seminggu menggunakan kenderaan tersebut, ketika memeriksa tempat duduk belakang (bahadian bawah tempat duduk) saya menjumpai 3 set skru yang tidak dipasang dan dibiarkan dibawah tempat duduk begitu sahaja. Skru tersebut masih lagi disimpan sebagai "kenangan" dan "peringatan" betapa cuainya pekerja di kilang pemasangan Proton.

v. Sekali lagi, skru bagi cermin/penghadang cahaya bagi penumpang hadapan tidak diskru dengan betul. Ianya tertanggal dan nasib baik saya mempunyai pemutar skru mata Phillips yang membolehkan saya memasang semula skru itu tanpa perlu menjadi pekerja di kilang pemasangan Proton.

vi. Selepas seminggu menggunakan kenderaan ini, sekali lagi isu lain berlaku, penggera kenderaan ini akan berbunyi tiba-tiba walaupun ianya diletakkan di bawah bumbung rumah dan dikunci rapi. Didapati kereta ini mengesan pintu belakang bahagian pemandu sebagai tidak ditutup rapat walaupun pintu itu sebenarnya telah rapat. Selepas seminggu membuat tuntutan waranti, akhirnya "wire harnes" telah ditukar satu (1) set bagi menyelesaikan masalah ini.

vii. Pada minggu berikutnya pula, sistem GPS kenderaan ini pula ROSAK!!!. Kali ini peta menunjukkan kami berada di Jalan Andaman, KLCC walaupun pada ketika itu kami berada di Pelabuhan Klang. Dua (2) minggu Proton Infotainment kereta ini dicabut dan lompong untuk dihantar ke Pulau Pinang (dakwa En. Tan, Istilah Wira Sdn Bhd) dan selepas 2 minggu katanya tidak boleh dibaiki dan kena tuntut waranti. Setelah 2 minggu, baru mahu tuntut waranti. Kemudian, untuk dua (2) minggu lagi kereta kami lompong tanpa radio dan barulah infotainment tersebut diterima dan dipasang kembali.

viii. Selepas 3 bulan, barulah kami menerima panggilan untuk menukarkan tempat duduk belakang yang akan jatuh sekiranya semasa perjalanan saya menekan brek kenderaan. Saya sering tertanya-tanya, mengapa harga Suprima S ini RM80k, sedangkan kualiti dan masalah yang diberikan kepada saya dan isteri ibaratkan kenderaan berharga RM15k.

4) Pada tahun ini, 2016, saya sekali lagi mengalami masalah kualiti brek/tayar yang berbunyi (screeching) semasa stereng diputar atau brek ditekan. Setelah merujuk kepada Pengurus Servis Istilah Wira Sdn Bhd, beliau (En. Tan - Mempunyai masalah pendengaran dan perlu bercakap kuat agar beliau dapat mendengar apa yang saya perkatakan) mendakwa bahawa ini masalah Brek Disk dimana ianya tidak dilindungi waranti.

5) Saya yang juga seorang yang tidak bijak telah mempercayai bulat-bulat kata-kata En. Tan itu. Semasa saya membawa kenderaan ini ke bengkel lain untuk ditukarkan Brek Disk tersebut, mekanik bengkel tersebut meminta saya merujuk ke Proton Shah Alam (COSE) berhubung dengan waranti tersebut kerana beliau rasakan En. Tan itu cuba menipu saya.

6) Saya telah berhubung dengan En. Rahman (COSE) yang juga merupakan saudara kepada kenalan saya dan beliau telah membantu saya memeriksa waranti bagi masalah brek tersebut dan menyatakan dengan jadual penyelenggaraan saya yang lengkap dan tidak pernah tertinggal penyelenggaraan di Pusat Servis Proton, brek disk tersebut adalah dilindungi oleh waranti.

7) Kali ini kesabaran saya telah sampai kemuncaknya, saya telah ke Istilah Wira Sdn Bhd dan menunjukkan segala resit penyelenggaraan kenderaan ini dan meminta Ms. Lai (Ketika itu En. Tan tiada dan sedang bercuti) menjelaskan mengapa perlu menipu bahawa brek disk ini tidak dilindungi waranti.

8) Saya memberikan amaran bahawa saya tidak akan mempercayai Pusat Servis Istilah Wira Sdn Bhd yang telah menipu dan menafikan hak saya dalam menuntut waranti tersebut. Namun, Ms. Lai telah mengaturkan bagi pihak saya untuk menukarkan brek disk tersebut dengan unit yang baru.

9) Saya menganggap hal ini telah berakhir dengan baik, namun sangkaan saya meleset. Seminggu sebelum Hari Raya Aidilfitri tahun ini, saya telah ke pusat servis tayar untuk membuat penyelenggaraan tayar Suprima S ini. Didapati skru tayar pada tayar hadapan (tayar dimana brek disk itu ditukar) tidak dapat dibuka. Mekanik mendapati skru tersebut tidak dipasang dengan baik dan bunga skru telah rosak dan setelah 2 jam berhempas pulas akhirnya skru tersebut berjaya dibuka dan ditukar baru (Sila rujuk lampiran bagi bukti bunga skru yang rosak)

10) Untuk makluman Dato/Datin/Tuan/Puan, kereta ini merupakan kereta utama yang digunakan oleh isteri saya untuk ke tempat kerja. Sekiranya terdapat sebarang masalah kebocoran pada tayar ini di tengah jalan, sudah tentu ianya tidak boleh dibuka dan digantikan dengan tayar simpanan.

11) Saya amat kecewa dengan kualiti yang dipamerkan oleh Pusat Servis Istilah Wira Sdn Bhd yang bukan sahaja menipu, malah seperti sengaja merosakkan bunga skru tayar ini (mungkin juga tidak sengaja namun tetap menunjukkan kualiti kerja yang tidak bermutu) yang mana pada akhirnya sikap ini boleh menyebabkan perkara yang tidak diingini berlaku.

Akhir kalam, saya secara jujur adalah peminat Proton. Saya sendiri memiliki Saga Flx yang telah digunakan sudah 4 tahun. Setelah mengalami masalah yang sangat mengecewakan dengan Suprima S ini, saya seperti trauma dan serik dengan kenderaan Proton. Namun saya berdoa agar tiada orang lain yang menerima dan ditimpa masalah yang sama.

Saya berharap pihak Proton dapat meningkatkan lagi kualiti servis oleh pusat servis anda. Sejujurnya saya mahu melihat Proton maju, dan saya harap, isu-isu seperti ini dapat dielakkan atau diselesaikan dalam masa yang singkat.

Assalamualaikum & Salam Sehati Sejiwa.

1. Sebab aku ni penjawat awam, kenalah guna ayat tu sempena tema kemerdekaan tanah air kita Malaysia yang ke-58 ( google dlu baru taip).

2. Aku pun x igt dah brape lame tak update blog ni smp ade senior tanye blog knp x update. Boleh tahan stalker gak senior aku neh.

3. Well, anyway, kali ni nk buat review sket utk telefon bimbit bagi model yg dinyatakan di atas. Yes, Microsoft Lumia... A Windows phone.

4. Awal tahun 2012 menjadi tahun terakhir aku menggunakan Nokia 5800 yg sgt byk brjasa.

Melihatkan kebolehan dan potensi yg besar dengan android phone, aku beralih kpd Samsung Galaxy Note. Secara dasarnya, android mmg mesra pengguna n tidak menjadi masalah untuk aku kembali kpd android. TAPI...

5. Pelancaran Windows 10 platform trmasuk Win10 mobile sgt2 aku nantikan. Smp akrg tak launch lg win10 mobile ni (takpe sabar). Oleh kerana Note aku battery die mcm empangan pecah punye laju kering battery, aku trpaksa mencari alternatif membeli phone baru yg pastinya utk guna paling kurang 3 tahun dan mengikut bajet yg aku ada utk ketika itu.

6. Hasil drpd pemikiran dan pertimbangan yg sgt mendalam, aku memilih si Dia:

Microsoft Lumia 640 XL LTE

7. Soal harga memang tak menjadi persoalan dengan spesifikasi yang ditawarkan, telefon pintar seperti Lumia 640 XL LTE ini boleh dikatakan berbaloi dan murah. Mana-mana yang suka guna apps:

LAZADA AppStore

Normal Price usually RM1090, tapi dengan apps dan voucher yang tepat pada masanya, korang mungkin boleh memiliki telefon ini dengan harga RM800 sahaja. Just like what I paid. Yes, melalui Lazada dan telefon ini In Sya Allah original dengan setahun warranty (normal lah kan) nak lebih warranty time, beli kt Sengheng, ade tambahan warranty kepada 2-3 tahun.

8. Terdapat banyak faktor yang perlu dipertimbangkan sebelum bertukar telefon, apetah lagi bertukar platform operating system daripada android kepada windows phone. Termasuklah availability apps yang kita wajib ada seperti Whatsapp, Facebook (aku takde fb), Instagram, twitter, blogger, CoC, Telegram, Camera360 dan sebagainya.

9. Setelah aku mempertimbangkan semua ini, hanya satu yang aku masih tak dapat guna iaitu Clash of Clans (woowoo...sedih..kesian kampung aku xde ketua kampung mcm aku).

10. So far, almost 2 months guna Lumia 640 XL LTE dengan Windows 8.1 Lumia Denim. So far, xde lagging and camera dia memuaskan. Kualiti gambar terbaik dan video pun terbaik (bagi standard user macam aku lah). Kamera utama 13mp dan kamera depan 5mp. Not bad kan?

11. Apps untuk email phone ni guna Microsoft Outlook which is quite simple and easy to use. Aku boleh link email sendiri, email pejabat, dan ape jgk email yg aku ade mcm apps android n ios yang lain. So, bab email account settle.

12. In terms of communication, aku lebih menggunakan Whatsapp, almost 99.9% whatsapp sahaja. Lain2 aku tak guna, so, whatsapp untuk WinPhone ni okay, simple cuma video max 16mb sahaja boleh share.

13. Untuk apps social networking, yang aku igt aku selalu guna pun Instagram shj. Untuk WinPhone ni, cuma ada Instagram Beta di mana kelemahan paling utama, xde Direct Message dengan tak boleh upload Video. Aku terpaksa transfer ke Note aku then upload dr situ or pinjam hp my cejook utk upload video.

14. Sekarang tak boleh bagi kesimpulan pasal Windows Phone ni bcoz masih menanti Windows 10 mobile. Aritu ade pakai Windows Insider install Windows 10 mobile tapi x stabil lg, takut phone rosak, jd revert back kpd Lumia Denim 8.1
So far Windows 10 Mobile nmpk lebih kemas dan teratur. Hopefully bila launching nnt lebih menarik tertarik dan mmg daboom!

15. Bolehlah berkarya dengan lebih kreatif menggunakan Microsoft Lumia 640 XL LTE.

Hah!!!

Bile ntah last aku compose entry baru selain daripada entry Man Utd dgn entry jejiwang kekaratan ntah....

Anyway...here some long lost update tentang ape jadik kat aku selepas "Transition of Career"

1. Selepas aku menerima satu tawaran kerja sebagai penjawat awam, aku telah meninggalkan FFM Further Processing pada bulan September 2012 (tahun lepas).

2. Ramai jugak anak-anak buah Nepal & Myanmar datang jumpa aku bertanyakan soklan2 seperti ini:

Bos banyak baik jaga Nepal punya orang, jgn resign lah bos...

3. Dan banyak lagi lah. Tapi nak buat mcmane, life must go on. And aku pun ade pasang sorang informer kat dalam company lame tu utk aku tau perkembangan syarikat pada masa sekarang. Alhamdulillah all went well and hopefully this company will strive to glory. (Mcm Man Utd... : p )

4. Kemudian bermulalah kerjaya aku sebagai penjawat awam yang mana aku telah dihantar untuk menjalani kursus selama 3 BULAN !!! Long story cut short. Aku jadi gemok dan hitam sepanjang 3 bulan kursus.

5. Perancangan asal adalah untuk bertunang pada pertengahan tahun ini (Bulan 6 insyaAllah). Namun oleh kerana gaji aku tangguh 3 bulan and dapat lump sum mase bulan 12 tu, aku tekad utk proceed pertunangan lebih awal daripada biasa.

6. Alhamdulillah...

7. Okay, insyaAllah tahun ni kami akan mendirikan rumah-tangga hujung bulan Jun ini. Rakan2 sekalian, akan aku jemput menghadiri majlis perkahwinan kami nanti. InsyaAllah sorang pun xkan aku lupekan untuk dijemput.

8. Doakan Masjid yang bakal kami bina ini sentiasa teguh bertiangkan keimanan dan ketakwaan serta berbumbungkan keredhaan daripada semua pihak.

9.Sesungguhnya andai ada tersilap kata dan perilaku, saya memohon maaf. Semoga tiada apa2 dendam yang terbuku. Doakanlah kebahagiaan kami hingga ke akhir hayat...

Atau kecewa.

Redha dan berdamai dengan takdir-NYA.
Sampai saat dan masanya,
Kita akan mengerti,
Ada perkara memang sudah termaktub akan terjadi,
Dan kita harus berhenti memaksa ia menjadi seperti apa yang kita ingini.

Berdamailah dengan takdir,
dan segala rasa yang berkocak dalam jiwa.
Agar keredhaan itu timbul,
Lantas mewujudkan keharmonian & ketenangan,
Dalam hati yang sentiasa meronta-ronta,
Yang sentiasa berhajat & berkehendak,

UiTM’s Best Student 2012

The Malaysian Dietitians’ Association honours Ms Farhanah binti Ahmad Shuhaimi as the best student from MARA University of Technology, UiTM Puncak Alam.

Hailing from Klang, Selangor, Ms Farhanah’s multi-lingual skills include speaking in Malay, English and Chinese. She graduated with a Diploma in Microbiology from UiTM in 2008 and continued to pursue her Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics where she excelled consistently, making it to the Dean’s List for seven semesters. Ms Farhanah graduated in 2012 with an impressive CGPA of 3.67 making her the nominated Best Student from UiTM for 2012.

For a fresh graduate, Ms Farhanah carries a variety of experiences in the industry by completing 3 months training in the Pathology Department of Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Klang, 1 month dietetics community placement in Klinik Kesihatan Greentown, Ipoh, and 3 months dietetics attachment in Sarawak General Hospital, Kuching. She has also published a journal entitled ‘The Association of Maternal Employment Status on Nutritional Status among Children in Selected Kindergartens in Selangor, Malaysia’, 2012, Asian Journal of Clinical Nutrition, volume 4, page 53- 66.

Ms Farhanah is awarded with RM250 cash and RM50 waiver of MDA Membership Fee.

CARRICK: LEDLEY WAS THE KING

Michael Carrick has paid tribute to former team-mate Ledley King ahead of Manchester United's clash with Tottenham, after the Spurs legend retired from professional football in July.

King, 31, had struggled with injuries for a number of years and was unable to train on a daily basis, forcing the England international to reluctantly hang up his boots and adopt an ambassadorial role at White Hart Lane.

Having worked alongside King throughout his two years at Tottenham before signing for United in 2006, Carrick is all too aware of the defender's quality when at the peak of his powers and was understandably disappointed to see his friend walk away from the game at such an early age.

"I was sad to see Ledley King call it a day in the summer," Michael told ManUtd.com. "It's such a shame because he was a huge talent and one of the best around on his day. He was influential in the dressing room, too."

The Reds midfielder also compared one-club man King to current colleagues Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, whilst bemoaning the fact his former team-mate cannot emulate their remarkable lengths of service.

"Ledley's a bit like the home-grown lads at United and the boys who have been here for a long time," added Carrick. "He carries the traditions of the club in many ways. It's sad that he's had to hang up his boots early because I think he deserved to carry on for a lot longer. I know he had a lot more to offer."

Even when King was in their ranks, Tottenham were unable to beat United at Old Trafford. But while the Reds have won 17 of the 20 Premier League meetings in Manchester, Carrick isn't taking a win for granted this time.

"As players we won't be going into the game thinking that history will take care of the result," he told United Review . "It's going to be a difficult match because Tottenham have some very dangerous players and can really hurt teams. Jermain Defoe has started really well this season and has already scored a few goals. They're also very dangerous in wide areas. Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon have plenty of pace and they can threaten at any time, but particularly on the counter-attack."

HENRIQUEZ SCORES ON U21s DEBUT
United maintained a 100 per cent record in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League with Angelo Henriquez marking his debut with the final goal in a 4-2 triumph against Newcastle.

The Chilean came off the bench in Friday night's fixture to make a great start in the red shirt after Italian stars Federico Macheda (2) and Davide Petrucci combined to help overcome the dogged Magpies. The victory takes United to the top of the table and it was another fine advertisement for this level of football despite the dreadful weather.

Jonathan Hooper, Romain Amalfitano and Mehdi Abied all rained early shots on Sam Johnstone's goal but it was the Reds who drew first blood on 14 minutes. Petrucci's wonderful tackle on Amalfitano allowed him to release his pal Macheda, who displayed his pace before clipping a left-footed finish wide of Jak Alnwick.

As torrential rain made playing conditions difficult, Robbie Brady skidded a free-kick into the side-netting before an equaliser arrived from Alnwick's mis-hit goal-kick. The ball went to Bradden Inman, who put Marcus Maddison through to confidently fire past Johnstone...

LINDEGAARD HAILS UNITED YOUNGSTERS

Anders Lindegaard says he has total faith in the Reds' budding young stars after a handful of them impressed during Wednesday's Capital One Cup win over Newcastle United.

Sir Alex Ferguson was full of praise for the performances of central defenders Scott Wootton and Michael Keane in particular after the 2-1 victory. Lindegaard has been equally impressed by the pair who are likely to be involved in United's next three games before the international break in the absence of the injured Nemanja Vidic.

"We have some very good young defenders - I'm a big fan of Scotty's [Wootton]. I've played a lot of games with him and he has a real calmness to his game and is a no-nonsense player," the Danish goalkeeper told ManUtd.com.

"The most important thing for the young lads to do when they come into the side is to enjoy it. The pressure and attention on everything you do is enormous, but you have to put that aside and focus on what matters and that is right here, right now. Playing in your first few games for United are moments you'll look back on for the rest of your life, it's a special kind of feeling and you have to enjoy every second."

SIR ALEX EYES IMPROVED ANFIELD SHOWING

Manchester United are looking to halt a poor recent record at Liverpool in Sunday's Barclays Premier League blockbuster.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men last won at Anfield in December 2007 and have lost four of the five subsequent meetings there in all competitions, including a 2-1 FA Cup defeat in January when Dirk Kuyt struck with two minutes left. Although United have enjoyed some success at Liverpool in the past, famously winning consecutive league games 3-1 in 1996/97 and 1997/98, it has generally been a tough fixture against a home side who have often gone into the game as underdogs.

"The motivation leans on the side of Liverpool, particularly at Anfield, and the crowd get behind them and they make it a real competition in terms of challenges and tackles," said Sir Alex. "We know that will happen on Sunday."

Nevertheless, Sir Alex saw some encouraging signs in United's two visits last season - a league draw secured by Javier Hernandez's late strike and then the cup exit.

"Last season we handled Liverpool at Anfield much better," he added. "It was 1-1 in the league and there was nothing between the teams. Then we threw away the cup tie when we were the far better team. If we get that performance on Sunday then we will be okay."

United midfielder Tom Cleverley spoke exclusively to ManUtd.com in the lead-up to Sunday's Barclays Premier League fixture against Liverpool...

Games don't come much bigger than Sunday's clash against Liverpool. You must be itching to be involved?
Yeah, it's fair to say this would be the biggest game I've played in for United if I'm involved. But it's not just a big game for me, it's a big game for the club and of course there's a lot of focus on this particular match. Liverpool haven't started so well so I'm sure this will be like a cup final. Meanwhile, we've won our last three games so we're hoping to build on that. It's important we maintain that momentum. It's a massive game for the team.

Liverpool finished 37 points behind United last season and are yet to win in the league this term...
I think form goes out of the window in these fixtures. It's more like a one-off game. They're great occasions. Growing up as a United fan, I've watched about 20 or 30 of these games, so I know exactly what this fixture means to everybody associated with the club. I just hope we can get the right result.

What were games against Liverpool like in the United youth teams?
It was still a crunch match. You always looked forward to the Liverpool and Manchester City games. There was something extra about those games and winning those games always felt better, especially away from home. There was always a lot of satisfaction when you beat Liverpool on their own turf so it would be nice to feel that again. Hopefully I'll be having that feeling again on Sunday night.

It won't be your first time at Anfield. What do you remember of going there with Wigan in 2010?
It was good. We managed to get a 1-1 draw there. It's always enjoyable to play at these historic stadiums, although I'm fully aware it will be something else going there with United.

After conceding goals in the first few games, the team have kept two clean sheets in a row. How important is it to maintain that solidity at the back?
It's great to have a strong defensive foundation from which to attack from. We know that 99 times out of 100 if we keep a clean sheet we'll win the game. The defence have done really well in the last few games and hopefully that continues.

EVANS: WE'LL RISE TO THE OCCASION

Jonny Evans believes United's players will relish the atmosphere at Anfield on Sunday.

The Reds face a Liverpool side desperate for a first league victory of the 2012/13 campaign and it promises to be an emotional first home game for the Merseysiders since the long-awaited release of an independent panel's findings on the Hillsborough disaster.

"I just think the history of the two clubs makes it that way," replied Evans, when asked about the intensity of the fixture. "The geographical distance between us, the Merseyside-Manchester rivalry and all the history means it will be no different on Sunday.

"We haven't had great results away at Liverpool in the last couple of years so it's up to us to put that right. It's always a big occasion but one every Manchester United player relishes. It's something you never forget with the atmosphere and the stick you get as well. It's all part of it. We enjoy that side of it and it's going to be a really big game.

"You can go through tactics and talk about how many points the teams have this season but I think all that goes out of the window when it comes to a Manchester United-Liverpool game with the history and the rivalry. We just want to go out there and hopefully put on a good performance."

RAFAEL ON THE ATTACK

Rafael is relishing the chance to continue his forays forward in Saturday's clash with Wigan Athletic after already opening his goal account for the season.

The Brazilian has been joining the attack with increased purpose this term and, after scoring for his country in the Olympics, he nodded home during the last Old Trafford outing against Fulham. It was his third goal for the club following earlier efforts against Arsenal away in 2008/09, and at home to Wigan in the following campaign.

"When I was younger, I played as a striker," Rafael told United Review, the official matchday programme. "I like heading the ball and it was great to score [against Fulham] - it was a really good cross by Ashley [Young] and I was in a good position. I enjoy getting forward - I just love football!

"Of course, as a player you can always improve something. I think I need to improve my defending and I have said this since I arrived here. I keep working hard at that and I will keep working to try and improve."

Rafael is hoping the Reds can erase memories of last April's 1-0 reverse at the DW Stadium, a result that proved costly during the title run-in.

"I didn't play but I remember watching and it was a bad game at such an important time of the season," he explained. "It was very bad. Hopefully things will be different because we are at home, but we know it will be hard because Wigan are a better team than they were earlier this year."

SIR ALEX: ROBERTO'S MEN ARE ON THE RISE

Sir Alex Ferguson praised Wigan Athletic from the boardroom to the dressing room ahead of his fifteenth league meeting with the Latics.

Wigan's steady improvement since their 2005 promotion to the top flight is reflected in their results against the Reds - after 14 straight defeats (15 if you include the 2006 League Cup final), they finally beat United 1-0 in the last meeting, at the DW Stadium in April. That surprise result helped Roberto Martinez's side to comfortably retain their top-flight status - Wigan went on to finish three places and seven points above the drop zone - and also dealt a huge blow to United's title hopes.

"When you come to the end of the season and you drop points it has a big impact," Sir Alex said on Friday. "I think it was Everton [4-4 at Old Trafford] which killed us. But you could easily say it was the Wigan game. I thought they played very well that night as they were fighting for their lives to avoid relegation. It was an understandable result in such a tight game."

The United boss admires his opposite number at the DW Stadium, and his loyalty to the Latics.

"There's a consistency and continuity in the management at Wigan," said Sir Alex. "Roberto Martinez turned down opportunities to speak to two or three clubs over the last few years and they also have a great chairman in Dave Whelan. They could be a club on the rise in the next few years. I don't think they'll ever get massive crowds - it tends to be a rugby league town - but they're doing well on the football pitch.

"They've changed to playing with three centre-backs and it's proven useful for them. It suits them in many ways. The great thing about Roberto Martinez's teams is they try to play football all the time and that's a great credit to him."

ROONEY RECALLS TITLE TRIUMPHS

Wayne Rooney spoke to ManUtd.com and MUTV this week to reflect on his first decade as a Premier League star.

SCHOLES TARGETS HOME IMPROVEMENTS IN EUROPE

Paul Scholes missed out on the Champions League completely in 2011/12 - he was still retired when United bowed out earlier than expected in December. Now he's back in the squad, the experienced midfielder will be eager to help the Reds make amends against Braga, CFR Cluj and Galatasaray...

Does the Champions League draw still excite you?
Definitely. It really feels like the season is upon us when it comes round each year. Of course, you always want short journeys for the group games, but it hasn't happened in this draw. We know it won't be easy - it's always difficult to get through the group stages as we found last year. But as long as we win our home games and try and pick up a couple of away wins we should be okay.

Good home form is going to be key this season, isn't it?
Yes, definitely. We were disappointing at Old Trafford last season and conceded too many goals. When we've qualified [for the latter stages] in the past, which has been almost every year, we've usually won our three home games and then won an away game or two and that's what we'll be trying to do this year.

Is it nice for you to be involved in the Champions League again after missing out last season?
Yes... this time last year I didn't think I'd be playing in it again! It was strange not being involved, but hopefully I can play a part this year and help us do better. It's a great competition.

BOSS: SAINTS WILL STAY UP

Sir Alex Ferguson is convinced Southampton are in the Barclays Premier League to stay but hopes their first win is not at United's expense on Sunday.

Nigel Adkins' side were beaten by Manchester City on the opening weekend in an entertaining five-goal thriller before slipping up at home to Wigan. After getting back on track with victory in the Capital One Cup in midweek, the Saints are sure to be fired up for the live TV clash against the Reds.

"Southampton lost their first two games which obviously wasn't the best start for them," said Sir Alex. "But Nigel Adkins has done a great job down there to bring them up to the top division. It's a good set-up - a good training ground and a good stadium - and they have a bit of money behind them now. They have every chance of staying in the league. They need a first win to kickstart momentum, but hopefully it's not on Sunday."

Ferguson is confident his team will continue to improve as fitness levels increase.

"For an hour last week against Fulham, we were absolutely superb," he stated. "Then we got careless and lost a bad goal. Then the form went with it. There was a lot of promise there, though, and a lot of positives."

2. Balik je rumah tau nak mandi, makan, tido. Thats it.

3. Entri kali ni untuk menyatakan bahawa aku tidak lagi akan bekerja sebagai buruh kasar kt kilang nugget. Sebab aku dah bagi notis sebulan efektif 14 September 2012.

4. Banyak sangat kenangan kat kilang nie. Inilah tempat kerja pertama yang aku keje (sepenuh masa) yang paling menarik pernah aku kerja.

After breaking the news that Shinji Kagawa will sign for United, subject to a medical and work permit, ManUtd.com spoke to Japanese football journalist Koki Harada, of Tokyo Chunichi Sports, about the exciting midfielder...

Was United's interest in Shinji one of football's worst-kept secrets?
I guess it was. The speculation has been all over the English and Japanese media for weeks and many fans have been waiting for the transfer to happen. Now it's been confirmed and everyone in Japan will be really excited. There have been Japanese players in the Premier League in the past - Junichi Inamoto at Fulham, Hidetoshi Nakata at Bolton and, last season, Ryo Miyaichi at Bolton. But United is a bigger club than those and Kagawa has the potential to be a big star.

What sort of player is Kagawa and is he like any of the current United squad?
United have no similar players. He's a bit like Samir Nasri or Luka Modric and creates lots of chances, but scores more goals than either of them. His best position is just behind the striker, where he played at Dortmund, but he can also play on the left, though he's not the quickest of players. I can see Sir Alex tinkering with his formation to play him in a 4-3-2-1. It's brilliant that he'll get the chance to work with a wonderful midfielder like Paul Scholes.

What kind of success did he have at Dortmund?
He adapted very quickly after moving to Germany from the J-League in 2010 and has been instrumental in helping them to back-to-back Bundesliga titles, particularly in last season's Double triumph. He's shown a very high level of performance there.

SIR ALEX PRAISES SURPRISE PACKAGES

Sir Alex Ferguson admits he's been impressed by Newcastle United and top-flight new boys Swansea City and Norwich City this season as the three teams approach key fixtures this weekend.

Of course, the Reds are in action against Brendan Rodgers' Swansea at Old Trafford after the high-flying Newcastle take on leaders Manchester City at the Sports Direct Arena. On Saturday, Norwich City are away to Arsenal as the Gunners look to take a huge step towards clinching third spot.

The United boss was asked to pick out which sides and individuals have perhaps surprised him this term and he admitted Newcastle's progress has been quicker than expected. The Magpies remain in contention for a place in next season's Champions League following a splendid away win at Chelsea in midweek.

"I think Swansea and Norwich are the surprises, together with Newcastle," Sir Alex told Inside United. "With the history and fanbase at Newcastle, you expect them to improve at some point, but they've done well.

"The boy Demba Ba had a great first half of the season and scored a lot of goals. At Swansea, Leon Britton and Neil Taylor have had great seasons. Grant Holt has been excellent for Norwich and David Fox has been impressive too."

JONES VOWS REDS WILL RECOVER

Phil Jones admits "a lot of questions" have been asked in the Manchester United camp this week following Monday's derby defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

In a match billed as the biggest derby in the history of English football, the Reds missed the chance to all but seal a 20th league title. Instead, Vincent Kompany's header, in stoppage time at the end of the first half, handed City three points and the advantage in the title race.

The Reds were left understandably deflated by the result, but Jones says they're now fully focused on bouncing back this weekend when Swansea visit Old Trafford on Sunday.

"There have obviously been a lot of questions raised this week, and rightly so," Jones told ManUtd.com. "We probably didn't play the best we could have on Monday and it is disappointing.

"But make no mistake about it: we are level on points with City. Goal difference separates us at the moment and you've seen already this season that there have been so many twists and turns. Don't be surprised if you see a few more. I think it will go down to the wire. We know what we have to do: win the two games, take six points and see where that takes us.

"Obviously the day after the derby the lads were gutted and massively disappointed. But we have moved on quickly and pushed it to one side. We have put it right in training this week. There are still a lot of bubbly characters about and we are looking forward to the game at the weekend."

GILL PROUD OF REDS' PHILOSOPHY

United chief executive David Gill is backing the Reds and Sir Alex to continue producing players through the famed Academy at Carrington.

Of course, United have a rich history of developing youth products ever since the days of the Busby Babes and the match-going fans enjoy nothing more than seeing homegrown talent getting the chance to impress on the big stage. Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Jonny Evans, Darren Fletcher, Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck have all come through the ranks and made an impact on the title challenge this term.

"It's been a feature of Manchester United for many years and will continue to be," he told Red View. "We need to be in a position to buy players like David De Gea when we need to buy a goalkeeper or this, that and the other. But, at the same time, we're very fortunate in having a manager and a philosophy that talks about our own players and developing those.

"That's crucial, not only obviously for getting into our first team as that's very difficult with our squad but also a number of players have developed great careers in the game having been brought up with United.

"That's what we're about and I think our fans want it. It's clear when you go to Old Trafford that they really take to the lads from the Academy. It's very important to us."

BOSS EXPECTS TOFFEES TEST

Sir Alex Ferguson is under no illusions about how difficult it will be take another step towards the title on Sunday.

Everton traditionally make life awkward for the Reds and the champions had to wait until the 83rd minute in the home game at a similar stage last season before Javier Hernandez, who has scored the winner in the last two games against the Toffees, nodded home.

"Everton going out of the FA Cup was a bad result for them," he said. "They went into that game in good form but losing a semi-final and a derby is always disappointing. No matter what happened last week, it was always going to be a hard game for us. We expect hard games and we're prepared for hard games. They are always hard matches against Everton. Sometimes we've done well, sometimes it's been difficult."

Wayne Rooney will be striving to once again show his former club what they have been missing since his move to Old Trafford.

"Wayne's goals have been fantastic," added the boss. "He's the one player who's scored consistently for us this season. He used to score in clutches but now they've evened themselves out over the season. It's an important game on Sunday and Rooney likes the edge that a big game brings."

RIO RESPECT FOR JELAVIC

Rio Ferdinand is aware of the threat Nikica Jelavic will pose at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Everton's shrewd signing from Rangers has settled well south of the border and scored again in the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Liverpool last weekend. The Merseysiders provide a formidable barrier before any hopes that the Manchester derby on 30 April could be decisive in the race for the title.

"The key thing is that we have to win against Everton in order to even give ourselves that chance [of going for glory at the Etihad Stadium]," he said. "All we're thinking about at the moment is that game, not what we can or can't do next weekend or the weekend after that. And Everton always give us a tough game, so we need to make sure we do the job properly.

"They've looked really good recently. Nikica Jelavic has come in and grabbed a few goals - he looks handy - and they're the sort of side who give their all for the manager.

"They're desperate to finish above Liverpool in the league this season, especially after losing to them last weekend. They're coming here with plenty to play for."

YOUNG RELISHING REUNION

Ashley Young insists there will be no extra edge about facing his former club Aston Villa on Sunday.

The in-form winger is convinced Alex McLeish's side will have no problem avoiding relegation, even if he is determined to ensure they leave Old Trafford pointless at the weekend.

It is the second time that Young has faced his old employers since leaving the club in the summer of 2011 after playing his part in a 1-0 triumph at Villa Park in December.

"I always look out for Villa's results," he told United Review. "I enjoyed my four and a half years there and keep in touch with a lot of the people there. I exchanged a couple of messages with some of the lads last week - I was trying to find out their team!

"There won't be any extra edge for me because it's against my old team - I'll just be trying to put in another good performance and help us get three points."

When asked if the Midlanders can get out of trouble at the wrong end of the table, he replied: "I hope so. It's so tough at this stage because every team is fighting for something but, if they can get some good results at home, they'll have a great chance.

"We got dragged into a bit of a relegation battle when I was there last season, but we had a good team spirit and got ourselves clear of it and finished ninth in the end. I'm sure they have the squad and team spirit to survive."

Which opposition player has stood out for you this season? (Max Singer)
Robin van Persie. In a team that hasn't always been performing to its maximum, he's been brilliant. He's produced so many goals, and important ones as well. You really have to hand it to him.

How does it feel when some of the referees are younger than you? (Ellen Graham)
[laughs and then mocks outrage] Who sent that one in? I want their name and address! Honestly... what can I say to that? Actually, to be fair, I quite enjoy having a referee who's a similar age to me. It makes it easier to talk to them. Referees make a lot of decisions in a game - most of them they get right, but they're also going to get the odd one wrong. When they do, it's nice if you can chat to him and ask him why he's made a particular decision.

Your career is full of highlights, but what's been the lowest moment? (Andy Mutch)
Two stand out for me: when we lost the league to Leeds in 1991/92 and the Champions League final in Rome in 2009. I still remember how bad it felt after we'd lost at Upton Park and then at Anfield in 1992. It was horrible to come so close and lose out. The Champions League final in Rome was worse than last year's at Wembley for me, simply because we just didn't turn up in Rome. It was a massive missed opportunity for us to win back-to-back Champions League trophies.

GIGGS READY FOR ROVERS

Ryan Giggs believes Blackburn Rovers will be fired up for Monday night's showdown at Ewood Park.

The Reds will be backed by a sizeable and vocal travelling army of fans but the extra ticket allocation seems to have helped inspire the home supporters in return in the past. United have won only two times in the last 11 league visits to the Lancashire ground, although the point secured last season clinched the 19th title.

"It's always been a tough place to go for us," Giggs told Red View. "It's like a mini-local derby. We always take good numbers there but that just seems to lift the Blackburn fans, who are always up for it.

"On a few occasions down the years we've not played very well there and we've had one or two players sent off at Ewood Park as well. It's just been a tricky place to go, although we do have good memories of going there from last season when we won the league at Blackburn.

"It's important we go there to try and get a good result but I don't think this fixture will have the same sort of impact on the title race as it has in the last two seasons. There are still too many points at stake. Even if we lose at Blackburn, there will be another 21 points to be won. I can see it going right down to the wire."

Who do you class as the most powerful striker in the league? NFA
In terms of all-round power, I'd have to say Wayne Rooney. I obviously don't play against him in games, but I have him in training every day! [Didier] Drogba stands out, and then you have the likes of [Sergio] Aguero and [Robin] van Persie who've been excellent this season and scored a lot of goals.

Who's the best golfer at the club? Stephen Ryder
People always talk about Michael Owen, but I've only played with him once or twice so I can't really comment. Michael Carrick is decent and one of our masseurs, Andy [Caveney], is very talented, but I'd say I'm up there!

How much of an impact has Sir Alex had on you as a footballer and as a person?Jonny Escott
The thing that really stands out is how he turns all the kids that come through the Academy into men. He encourages you, but will also have a quiet word when he feels he needs to. He just knows the right things to say at the right time.

What's the biggest thing you've learned from playing alongside Rio Ferdinand?Tuan Nabil
I think it's the calmness he brings to the team... he never gets flustered. As a centre-back, if you're running around the pitch panicking, it sends a bad message to the team, so that composure is vital, and it's something I've tried to apply to my game.

CLEVERLEY EXCITED BY RUN-IN

Tom Cleverley is "as excited as everyone else" by the prospect of a title chase in his first full Barclays Premier League season as a United player.

In an exclusive interview for MUTV's Countdown to Kick Off,Cleverley said of his bid to collect a first winner's medal: "That is what we're at this club to do."

Meanwhile, two of Tom's fellow midfielders are already into double figures where titles are concerned - namely Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.

"It gives us, the young players, confidence when you know you have players with 15 to 20 years' experience playing next to you," Cleverley admitted.

After returning to the first-team fold as an unused substitute against Fulham, Tom hopes to feature in the final eight league games, starting at Blackburn on Monday. He recognises there is little margin for error, especially with the presence of local rivals Manchester City providing extra intensity in this title race.

"It does seem to increase the pressure a little bit with City being involved. But we know if we win every game from now until the end of the season, the title is ours."

SCHOLES CAN CALL THE TUNE

Sir Alex could ask Paul Scholes to orchestrate another vital Barclays Premier League win when Fulham come to Old Trafford on Monday night.

The veteran campaigner gave one of his best-ever performances against the Cottagers back in 2009 and also scored his only goal of last season at their West London ground. With Martin Jol's side likely to try and keep things tight, Scholes may be asked to unlock the defence and provide the inspiration in midfield.

"He can dictate the tempo of games very well and the rhythm of our game," said the boss. "He has the experience which helps him do that. He has a terrific football brain. The reason he wanted to retire was because he wanted to play 50 games, not 25, he didn't think that was enough.

"I said to him at the time he would play 25 games for me no problem, but he didn't want that. Maybe he felt that was maybe me not giving him enough appreciation. What I was trying to do was look at it in a sensible way and think what do you get out of a 37-year-old? How many games can you get out of him?

"The way we control Ryan Giggs [in terms of games he plays] - he's different from the rest and we're treating Paul Scholes exactly the same now. There will be games where we maybe leave him out, but we also know the games he can play in."

CARRICK UNFAZED BY CITY WIN

Michael Carrick admits he wasn't surprised by Manchester City's midweek win against Chelsea as the champions continue to focus on the Reds' own fixtures.

The midfielder did not watch Wednesday's clash on TV and is aware that the title is still in United's hands with a one point lead being taken into the next round of games. City are at Stoke on Saturday before United entertain Fulham on Monday night.

The onus is clearly on retaining the trophy because of the team's own actions, rather than hoping for Roberto Mancini's men to lose in one of their upcoming matches.

"I didn't see the City game as I was attending an event with the Manchester United Disabled Supporters Association," he told ManUtd.com. "In fact, I was just getting home when City scored the second goal.

"To be honest, I hadn't thought they'd slip up so to see them win wasn't a huge shock. It didn't surprise me at all. We can't rely on City to slip up - that's not how we want to win the league.

"We need to think about ourselves and do everything in our power to win our games. That's all we can do and that's all we're concentrating on."

I love to play golf. Last summer when I first had lessons I really loved it. Before I got injured, that was how I spent time for myself away from the pitch and home. I also like to play tennis as well, so I'm always around sport! But I enjoy time with my family as well.

What is your favourite film? - Shreyas Pimple, India
The Hangover and its sequel were the last movies I watched. They were funny. I think my favourite movie though is Castaway with Tom Hanks, where he is on the island. It's amazing how he performed in that movie. The weight he lost for the role was a big sacrifice. Man On Fire is also a good movie.

Which other teams do you enjoy following? - Glenn Nicol, Cairns, Australia
I don't really follow other teams, but I watch English football because I play here and I like to see the other teams and players. I like to watch Real Madrid sometimes because of Cristiano Ronaldo. I'm always interested in how he's doing. He's kept himself at a high level for the last six years and is still scoring the goals. I like watching other people I know, to see how they're doing, like Zoran Tosic at Spartak Moscow.

SIR ALEX'S RESPECT FOR ROY

Sir Alex is looking forward to locking horns with Roy Hodgson again on Sunday as he's pleased the West Brom manager has been able to show his coaching class at The Hawthorns.

The 64-year-old has enjoyed a distinguished career in charge of both top clubs like Inter Milan but also national teams such as Switzerland and Finland. However, he had an unhappy spell at Liverpool, undertaking the shortest reign of any manager in the Merseysiders' history.

"Roy probably couldn't win at Anfield really," admitted Sir Alex. "Sometimes timing is bad for certain jobs and that was bad timing for him. But there is no disputing his ability, his credibility and the career he's had over the years. You can't dismiss that."

The Baggies have taken nine points out of nine since losing to Swansea with a derby day to remember at Molineux providing a real upsurge in confidence.

"West Brom are in a bit of form - they've won their last three games and scored five at Wolves and beat Chelsea," said the boss. "Roy always has his teams organised and it'll be the same on Sunday. But we're at home and we're expected to win our games at home so hopefully we can put the [Athletic Club] result behind us.

SMALLING WARY OF FORMER BOSS

Defender Chris Smalling speaks exclusively to Red View about Sunday's meeting with West Brom...

Some fans feel the toughest games are out of the way. But West Brom didn't exactly roll over at OT last term, did they?
No, definitely not. They were the team who put a little blemish on our home record last year. Roy Hodgson, a manager I know, has since gone there and done very well. No game is easy in this league. It's often the case that teams who are written off will go out and do something special, like West Brom beating Chelsea last weekend, for the first time in the Premier League. It's going to be another big test for us as we try to keep the pressure up [on City].

You were managed by Roy Hodgson at Fulham. What kind of boss is he?
He's very meticulous. We had a lot of video analysis sessions with him at Fulham, and did a lot of work on our team shape. He made sure that every player knew his job. It seems that approach is working for him again at West Brom and I'm glad he's doing well.

Could he do with West Brom what he did at Fulham and take them into the Europa League?
Yes, it could be an option. There are quite a lot of teams now in the Premier League who are getting stronger and attracting the sort of players who can maybe help them in terms of European football. It could be a possible aim for them.

Presumably the players aren't feeling complacent about the run-in?
No, we're not. We need to make sure we set our stall out, win our games and hopefully score a few goals in the run-in. There are only 11 games to go and each one will be like a cup final. We'll definitely be treating them like that.

Absolutely - let's hope that proves to be the case! Every day I feel more at home here so I can see myself spending my whole career at United. I am very relaxed in England and I like my football here.

Who do you get on with best at the club? Jonas Giaever
I get on with all the lads but I guess Chicharito and Antonio Valencia most of all. They were brilliant when I first arrived, translating for me and answering any questions I had. Javier is a real livewire off the field - he lifts every room he walks into and his enthusiasm is infectious.

You have great reflexes. Do you practise this or is it just a gift? Andre
I certainly work hard at it, but I believe something like that is in-born. A singer is born with a great voice, a striker can naturally sniff out a chance and I think a goalkeeper's reflexes are the same.

What music do you enjoy? jasper99
I like metal and rock bands like Avenged Sevenfold and Metallica. When I put it on in the dressing room, everyone moans! Most of the other players are into hip-hop. I also love This Is The One [by the Stone Roses], the song we come out to at Old Trafford - it gives me a big lift for the game.

HERNANDEZ HAILS REDS SPIRIT

Javier Hernandez believes Manchester United will take the boost of a remarkable fightback at Chelsea into the next big game, against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

The Mexican marksman headed the equaliser at Stamford Bridge last weekend - just as he did at Anfield last October - and this precious point means the Reds can go top, at least for one night, by winning the home game against the Merseysiders.

"We went home [from Chelsea] with a lot of confidence," revealed Hernandez. "To come back from 3-0 down shows the spirit of our team. Throughout Manchester United's history, the team has never given up. We fight until the last minute.

"Right now, Manchester City are two points ahead of us but there are a lot of games to go, so we need to look forward, keep working and keep fighting."

Hernandez has already faced Liverpool four times in his first 18 months as a United player, with each clash bolstering his knowledge of English football's biggest duel.

"I have learned a lot about the rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool," he said on Friday. "I knew a lot about this already in Mexico. In all the world, people know about the history of both teams, with so many Premier League titles and European Cups between them. It is a very important rivalry.

"[The build-up to this game] is a bit different. We work just the same as we have done for every game. But in the back of your mind, you know it is Liverpool."

PHELAN FEELS THE COMPETITIVE EDGE

United's assistant manager Mike Phelan says there is a noticeable change in the Carrington atmosphere when any season approaches its critical phase.

As the New Year fades into the distance, the United players can sense glory is within reach and the impact of this can be felt around the training ground.

"The competition within the group increases at this time of year, it's incredible," Phelan told MUTV.

"Even in training, you see a massive difference in the way the players apply themselves. They are all ready and wanting to be involved at the end of the season."

With vast experience of the title race run-in, the players know what it takes to come out on top and will be doing everything between February and May to ensure the Barclays Premier League trophy remains at Old Trafford.

"Experience, in some degree, is the right thing to have," Phelan added. "We know how to handle certain times of the year. For example, we know we're going to get injuries in the early part of the season but then, after Christmas in January and February, we know we'll get that big group back together."

LINGARD AIMS FOR BREAKTHROUGH

Young United forward Jesse Lingard is hoping to make his senior bow before the season is out after earning his first call-ups to Sir Alex Ferguson's squad.

The 19-year-old has been one of the Reserves' star performers this term - he scored his fifth goal of the campaign in Thursday's 4-2 defeat to Man City in the Manchester Senior Cup. But although he was on the bench for the Carling Cup clash with Crystal Palace and Barclays Premier League encounter at Newcastle, he has yet to get a taste of the senior action.

"I've been involved with the first team and I am playing well for the Reserves so we'll see where it goes from there," Lingard told MUTV. "The aim is for more and hopefully I can play in the Europa League.

"It was good experience [at Newcastle], being around the players. Obviously, if you're going to be a Manchester United player, you have got to get used to that sort of stuff and I enjoyed it. It's always a good vibe. You talk about tactics before the match, and the coaches make sure you get enough rest for the big game.

"I've been getting a lot of advice actually. Chicharito told me about movement, Wayne Rooney spoke about finishing and Dimitar Berbatov talked about composure. It's good to get a lot of tips from them."
