Everyone meet Dakota (at least I think that’s her real name), she’s a 16-year-old girl who goes by KotaKoti and looks a lot like a Barbie doll. Recently, photos of her have gone viral on several Asia and Arabic social sites because of her incredible resemblance to Barbie.

I stumbled upon some photos of KotaKoti while browsing a popular Vietnamese site for weird stories (yes, I do actually visit a lot Vietnamese sites, where else do you think I find all this crazy stuff) and was stunned by the resemblance between this girl and the popular Barbie doll. I mean, in some photos Iwas having trouble figuring out if she is actually a real person or just a life-size toy. I wasn’t able to find a lot of info on her, as she doesn’t seem to be as popular on western websites, and although she has her very own blog, it doesn’t have an “About” page or anything like that.

KotaKoti incredible resemblance to Barbie has made her very popular in countries like Japan and China, where she has been featured on several news stations. Considered a cosplayer by a lot of her fans, the 16-year-old says she dresses like this pretty much all the time and she doesn’t mind it when people look at her funny. I seriously think she should move to Japan, I bet they would worship he there.

Seo Young Deok’s Bicycle Chain Sculptures Are Off the Chain

You’ve probably sculptures made from bicycle chains, but I bet they’re nothing like the ones created by South Korean artist, Seo Young Deok.

The incredible ‘works of Seo Young Deok are clearly inspired by the shapes of the human body, but artists have been sculpting masterpieces based on our natural curves for hundreds of years. What makes this Korean designer special is the material he uses for his unique creations – bicycle chains. Miles of metal chains, to be exact, welded in such a way that they recreate the human body to the finest details. Deok says he finds inspiration for his art in crowded markets, and metro or bus stations, but also in Buddhist sculptures and paintings, which he has alway admired. “I like Asia Beauty” he says, “so most features of my work seem to take an Asiatic pose”.

All of the artworks in Seo Young Deok’s newest series, Dystopia, are very impressive, but the 7ft 6in head called Nirvana clearly stands out. The stunningly detailed human head is made of over a mile of bicycle chains, and costs over $40,000. The artist spent over a year painstakingly welding every piece of chain to create this realistic masterpiece. His collection also includes a human torso that was completed in over two months, and an entire human body he finished in four months.

Real-Life 50 First Dates: Teen Loses Memory Every 24 Hours

Drew Barrymore's character has a weird memory condition that makes her relieve the same day every time she wakes up. This pretty much the basis of the romantic comedy 50 First Dates. It’s a pretty interesting concept for a film, but in real life it would be considered a nightmare. Unfortunately, 19-year-old Jess Lydon has to go through something similar to this every day.

Instead of returning to the past, Jess is actually trapped in the present. She has been affected by a rare condition known as Susac Syndrome that only allows her to remember what happened in the past 24 hours. Needless to say, this is highly upsetting to Jess and her family. It gets so bad sometimes that she cannot remember what she had for dinner the previous night, or what she did on Christmas and for her birthday. Looking at family pictures confuses her, as she can't recollect any of the events that took place. The worst part is that although she split up with her boyfriend almost 2 years ago, she wakes up thinking they're together every morning. Imagine having to relive a heartbreak every single day of your life.

Susac syndrome is a brain disorder so rare that only 250 cases have been reported so far in the world. And victims like Jess suffer a lot more than just memory loss. She's also had severe headaches and dizziness, for which she was rushed to the hospital and had to endure three months of tests. What actually triggers the condition is not known. It may disappear in five years, or cause even more serious problems like loss of sight and hearing.

It's strange that a while ago, we wrote about this lady who remembers every single thing that happened in her life. And now there's Jess, who only remembers 24-hour's worth of events. They're both equally sad situations. I guess too much or too less of anything is hard to live with.

Silbo Gomero – Tweeting Is an Actual Language on La Gomera Island

The Silbo Gomero language sounds as sweet as the tweeting of Nightingales. Listening to this beautiful means of communication makes me wonder if birds are actually able to talk to each other in the same manner. Because the people of La Gomera island in the Canaries certainly do one heck of a job of talking through chirp-like whistles.

Silbo Gomero is the name given to the language of whistles spoken on the small island of La Gomera, off the coast of Morocco. It is structured in such a way that the islanders are able to mimic the spoken language of the region – Castilian Spanish – through whistles. While there have been reports of other whistling languages in the world, Silbo Gomero is the only one that is fully developed and practiced by an entire community. It is so organized and thorough that every vowel and consonant can be replaced with a whistle. Depending on the pitch and the number of interruptions, the sounds can be distinguished from each other.

The language that is considered a cultural heritage of the region was actually under threat of dying out until recently. That's when the government decided to make it compulsory at school for children. Things have picked up since then, and now almost all the islanders are able to understand and speak the language. The beauty of Silbo Gomero lies in the fact that it can be heard over two miles away. It had to evolve that way in a region where hills and ravines made worded communication impossible. In fact, highly skilled speakers are able to send messages from one end of the island to another. I think that renders mobile phones pretty useless on the island of La Gomera.

Religious ceremonies and festivals see a peak in the usage of Silbo Gomero, but tourists can witness the amazing language everywhere they go, even at restautants, as the locals put on shows for that demonstrate just how complex their chirps can be.

New York Woman Makes a Living Catching Other People’s Cats

If you've ever dreamed of living in New York, here's one more reason for you to move there – Jordana Serebrenik. The name of her business explains it all. She is the founder, owner and sole worker of Catch Your Cat, which pretty much sums up what she does. This 45-year-old resident of Murray Hill will come to your home, catch your cat and will do with it anything you want her to.

Let's face it. Although cats are very adorable creatures, they are fierce when it comes to personal space. Even a hint of threat to their independence and some of them they will even snarl at their own masters. So imagine trying to get a pet cat into a carrier to go to the vet. It could be quite a daunting task. More so, for the elderly or the physically impaired. That's where Jordana and Catch Your Cat step in. For about $80, she will make sure the cat is in the box in no time at all.

She uses the punch-line "Can't get Fluffy into a carrier?" and her customers all praise her services. Alene Yarrow, a client, says it's worth every penny. "It takes away all the worry and concern off your shoulders. What she does is a blessing." If you're still not convinced, take a look at their Facebook page and you'll see the testimonials for yourself. According to Jordana, the business she started in 2010 has taken off due to the fact that she isn't emotionally attached to the cat in question. "It's not that I don't care. I care a lot, but I'm not emotionally tied to that animal, so I don't get cluttered in thought." What else could explain the swift moves and agility that allow her to grab any cat with such impressive ease?

Jordana acquired her special skills in the few years she did animal rescue work. When she realized her knack, she knew it could be turned into a profitable business. Today, she's a professional cat-nabber with several tools – red nylon net bags, a pair of Kevlar and leather gloves. The gloves are dotted with cat bite marks, but so far she’s had no major injuries attributed to her job. She sums up her entire attitude towards cats in one line, "I'm going to win, so just let me”.

Hiding in Plain Brick: Wonderful Way to Make an Entrance

This not-so-secret door is one way to deal with a lot that borders directly on a public sidewalk – while not concealed per se, it does blend beautifully into the background, while the rest of the brick wall provides privacy.

Designed by architect Jack Woolley (photos by David Grandorge), this home-and-office complex is half-buried below grade, with work and meeting spaces on the main floor and living quarters under them.

But there is another layer of surprises inside: the existing carpenter’s workshop provided raw materials during the remodel – specifically, beautifully aged wood – that now serves to contrast with new white surfaces.

Soleless Fashion: Astounding Lime-Peel Sculptural Shoes

Designers who are bold enough to go all the way back to the drawing board on objects that most of us hardly even notice anymore are often the ones who come up with the most compelling new ideas. Take shoes, for example. London architect Julian Hakes took a completely fresh look at the very basics of shoe design one day in 2009…and suddenly, an internet phenomenon was unleashed.

Hakes realized that high heeled shoes don’t really need all of the elements they currently have. Since all of the wearer’s weight is carried on the ball of the foot and the heel, why is a full foot plate necessary? With this revelation in mind, he set out to design a shoe unlike anything the world had ever seen.

The architect began by wrapping his own foot in paper and tape and drawing various geometric designs on the paper and all around the contours of his foot. After carefully cutting the new shape off with a scalpel, Hakes was left with something that resembled a lime peel, so he dubbed his shoe design Mojito.

The experiment with the paper led Hakes to eventually producing the remarkable shoes seen here. The graceful, airy shape wraps around the foot, supporting the ball and heel and but leaving the arch tantalizingly exposed. Although discomfort has never stopped dedicated shoe lovers from wearing outrageous designs, everyone who has tried on a pair of Mojitos has called them “surprisingly comfortable.”

Renowned Artist Creates Jesus Portrait from 24,790 Push Pins

World renowned artist Rob Surette has recently completed a mind-blowing portrait of Jesus Christ made out of 24,790 colored push pins. The amazing work of art measures 5.5 feet x 4 feet, and took the artist six months to finish.

Rob Surette has been fascinated by pointillism ever since he discovered the art of Georges Seurat, who invented the dot painting technique during the late 1800s. He became a master of it himself and now creates incredible works of art that always has viewers asking how he achieves such elaborate visual illusions. ”They stand close to the image and say, ‘All I see is push pins!’ and then they walk backwards, away from the artwork and say, ‘It looks so real! How is that possible?’” Rob says is the reaction of most people. Before starting work on this portrait, Surette set a record for the world’s largest Lite Brite creation (513,000 pieces), and wondering what other objects he could use to create a portrait out of dots, he settled on push pins.

Up close, viewers can clearly see the entire portrait of Jesus is made from just white, black, yellow, red, green, blue, purple and magenta push pins, but as they take a few steps back, the human eye starts blending the colors together producing realistic flesh tones and brown hair. He says the same technique is used for creating full color magazine pictures with printing presses. The artist spent six months on this project, working on it for approximately one hour every day, seven days a week. The price tag for this unique representation of Jesus is $250,000.

Rob Surette has even bigger plans for the future. For his next projects he intends to create a Mickey Mouse portrait out of thousands of regular pins, and after that he wants to make a giant white lion sculpture from LEGO bricks. They both sound very intriguing and we can’t wait to feature them on OC.

German Fashion Designer Makes Shoes from Real Hooves and Dead Animals

These are some of the freakiest shoes I've ever set eyes on. Made by German designer Iris Shieferstein, the footwear is actually created from body parts of dead animals. She uses horse hooves and skin, snake skin and even whole dead birds as decorations.

I really doubt there are a lot of people out there willing to walk around with a pair of stuffed birds on their feet, but that isn't stopping 45-year-old Iris Shieferstein from using all sorts of dead animal parts to make unique shoes. She agrees her creations aren't exactly as comfortable as trainers, but she still wears them around the house. The designer says that her footwear is mainly meant for 'aesthetic pleasure'. The animal shoes have been displayed at exhibitions around the world and Dolce & Gabanna have even created a range based on her designs. But so far, no company has had the courage to produce them for the general public.

To create her unique style of footwear, Iris begins by collecting dead animal parts from her butcher. This isn't very tough, she says, since her butcher actually uses horse meat in sausages, which is not uncommon in Germany. I have no idea where she gets the doves and snakes, but I’m not hoping it's not from the same butcher. Once she has the carcasses, it takes her a week to strip off meat and bones from the animal's feet. The skin needs to be preserved, so it's sent to the tanner. The next step for Iris is to set the fur skin around the model of a shoe. If she's using horse parts, the hoof is used as a sole. After several months of rearranging and sewing, the finished product is ready for display.

Some of Iris's notable collections include a pair made from a chestnut steed with no heels so the person wearing them needs to balance on their toes, another pair made from cream horse fur with bone used for the heel and a zip up front, and also the stuffed dove shoes – in which the wearer needs to slide their toes between the bird's legs. While some might find this really weird, Iris is pretty excited about her footwear creations. "When I've got the dove shoes on that are made from real birds, I feel like I'm flying," she says.

iPhoneography – Colleges to Offer Courses in iPhone Photography

If a filmmaker could shoot an entire movie on a smartphone, a course on iPhone Photography doesn't really seem like a bad idea. It's actually pretty neat that two colleges in London are planning to offer a course that's dedicated to the ever-popular iPhone. According to course tutor Richard Gray, all you need to attend the course is a passion for photography, a creative mind and, of course, an iPhone. The course fee is £115 (that's about $178) with an additional £20 ($30) for the purchase of required apps.

The iPhoneography course starts in a few weeks, so it's still unclear as to who will be interested in taking it. Of course, the iPhone doesn’t compare to high-end DSLR cameras, but for photography-enthusiasts who don't really have big bucks to spend on this kind of equipment, the course might just be pretty useful. Also, according to Gray, the iPhone camera is not to be underestimated. "With the right apps and skills, it can be a powerful creative tool," he says, adding that "No longer do you need expensive equipment to produce great images."

Apart from actually using the iPhone in photography, Gray plans to include photography basics as well, such as composition, color and light. Editing skills will also be taught, including blending, collage and cloning. The course is aimed at beginners and will be held in 3-hour evening sessions, five times a week. If it proves to be popular, it could be extended to Android users as well. iPhoneography does sound pretty exciting and it isn't too expensive, so I surely wouldn't mind taking it up if I ever got the chance. Dwarf Bullfighters – Human Exploitation Meets Animal Cruelty

It sounds cruel when I write about it, but watching a bunch of dwarfs running around with calves that match their size could invoke quite a bit of laughter. There's nothing cute about this however, the fighting is quite real and dangerous. Thankfully, the calves and the men are usually unharmed.

Wondering what I'm talking about? Meet the bullfighting dwarfs of Mexico, a group of short entertainers who are by no means ashamed of what they do. The sport, for obvious reasons, has earned the title of being one of the most controversial in the world. Animal lovers say it's cruel. Human rights activists agree. Critics worry about stereotyping. But there's no denying the fact that it provides a steady means of income for those who otherwise would find it very difficult to get a job. Since employment discrimination is pretty widespread in Mexico, the dwarf community has actually benefited from the bullfighting shows. More often than not, the bullfighters are laughed at, and although this is the main purpose of their act, they would also like to be respected for what they do.

While bullfighting as a sport originated in Spain, the Mexican dwarf version is no less entertaining – a heady mix of comedy and excitement. Currently, about 20 dwarf bullfighting troupes exist in Mexico and they make frequent tours across the border to the US, performing for migrant native Mexicans. The competition between troupes is pretty intense, so many of them have added attractions to the show. A group from Guadalajara sings and does impressions, while the Bullfighting Dwarfs of Torreon jump through burning hoops.

The tradition of the Mexican dwarf bullfighters started way back in the 1970s. According to the manager of the Giants of the Bullring, Gustavo Vazquez, the real goal of the show is to make people see past the fact that the performers are little people. Javier Landa, another performer, says that Americans may not understand what they do. "They may think we go out there to be laughed at, but that's not the case. If a little person can fight a bull, he can do anything. That's what we're trying to prove.” The dwarf matadors can make up to $100 per show, and sometimes as little as $50.

Backyard Atelier: Smooth Garage-to-Studio Transformation

Those of us lucky enough to have garages know that they are useful for all kinds of things aside from storing vehicles. They act as impromptu practice spaces, workshops, winter-time beverage coolers, and the sites of much male bonding. The owner of this particular garage wanted to use his space as an office, but did not want to feel like he was spending his days in a garage. Dutch firm Architecten|en|en went to work creating a cozy but professional home office.

The studio is an extension and overhaul of the existing attached garage space. The client, designer Hugo de Ruiter, needed a place to not only conduct daily business but to meet with clients as well. For obvious reasons, calling meetings in the garage of one’s home is not ideal – so the addition takes on a life of its own, looking as different to the existing structure as possible.

The addition extends the garage both outward and upward, adding depth and height to the space. The exterior is clad in perforated corrugated aluminum skin that sets the office apart from the structure to which it is attached. Large folding aluminum doors protect the all-glass front and offer a bit of privacy and shade when needed.

Texturally, the aluminum plates seem to be a visual continuation of the home’s existing roof tiles. Thus, the add-on space appears to belong there but definitely has an identity all its own. Where the old and new structures meet, a thin strip of glass provides an unexpected additional burst of sunlight inside while further reinforcing the “new” and “existing” dichotomy.

According to Hugo de Ruiter, the space is the perfect size for an office. It is small enough that he does not feel out of place working in it alone, yet large enough that holding a meeting with several clients at once is not cramped or uncomfortable. As home offices go, this one looks amazingly sophisticated and not at all like it exists in a place once reserved for vehicles.

Elegant Bathroom Exhaust Fan Disappears When Not Needed

Exhaust fans may be a necessary part of bathroom design, but they are also a decidedly unattractive part. Designer Michael Samoriz invented the Invisible wall-mounted fan to be both unobtrusive and functional.

The Invisible design incorporates a recessed exhaust fan into a bathroom’s wall, using ceramic tile to camouflage it against the rest of the wall.

When the fan is not needed, it recedes into the wall and is, just as the name promises, totally invisible other than its surrounding LED frame.

When you need the fan to remove moisture from the air, it pops out and air is drawn in through the vents on the sides. The fan only attracts attention when it is being used, which seems to us is the mark of an elegantly designed fixture.

The Five Most Insane Cases Ever Heard by the Supreme Court

We like to think of the Supreme Court as being serious business. After all, it is the highest court of the land; once they decide something, the only thing that can overrule them is the Court itself. Some of their rulings are legendary: Brown v. Board of Education, which struck down segregation once and for all, Bush v. Gore, which decided the Presidential election of 2000, and Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion, all come to mind. So, I'm sure it comes as a shock to you that, on occasion, the Supreme Court behaves more like a Kangaroo Court. Don’t believe me? Get a load of these cases:

1. Nix v. Heddon

In 1893, the Exalted United States Supreme Court heard arguments about the question people have been asking themselves since the beginning of time: "Is a tomato a fruit or a vegetable?"

The next question to be tackled: How to get tomatoes to grow out of dogs noses?

You see, the Tariff Act of 1883 placed high import duties on vegetables but not on fruit. So, some enterprising vegetable importers thought they'd get cutesy with the law and file suit against the Customs Collector of New York, claiming that, from a botanical standpoint, a tomato is a fruit, and therefore can't be charged a tariff.

Should have used more botanical science, the amateur.

Arguments included the reading of the definitions of both a fruit and a vegetable from three different dictionaries in open court, in fact, dictionary definitions were used heavily throughout deliberations, before botanists were brought in to declare that, yes, technically, a tomato is a fruit.

This was countered by customs agents claiming that the words "fruit" and "vegetable" had no special meaning in the imports business before the Tariff Act, and that while a botanist says a tomato is a fruit, the common man identifies it as a vegetable. The Court agreed, in a unanimous decision, that for legal purposes, a tomato shall be considered a vegetable, drawing the farce to a close.

2. Welch v. Swasey

In the first decade of the 1900s, skyscrapers were going up in cities all over America. In the residential district of the city of Boston, an ordinance prohibited the construction of buildings over 100 feet tall. This didn't match with the ordinance in the commercial district, where the height maximum was 125 feet. Anyone who has ever lived in a city knows that these sort of insane double standards happen all the time.

Enter Francis C. Welch. He owned property in the residential section and wanted to build a 124 foot tall tower there. The city told him to bugger off. He responded by pitching a hissy fit and suing the city, claiming that the government was unfairly telling him what he could and couldn't do with his property.

Fortunately, Mr. Welch was prohibited from bringing his boomstick to Court.

And so, in 1909, Welch v. Swasey was brought before the Supreme Court. Welch's lawyers claimed that the ordinance was an inappropriate use of government power, done for the purpose of aesthetics. Clearly they weren't aware that most of the uses of government power are similarly useless.

The court ruled in favor of Boston, the opinion basically stating that, while they agreed the statute was discriminatory and useless, they weren't going to interfere in the business of a local jurisdiction where no real harm was being done. In other words, stop wasting our time before we disrobe in front of you.

3. Coates v. Cincinnati

In 1956, the city of Cincinnati passed an ordinance which made it illegal for three or more people to assemble on a city sidewalk unannounced and act in an annoying manner to passerby. What precisely was meant by "annoying" was not specified, but a fifty dollar fine or a night in jail was in order if you violated said ordinance. The law remained in place for 15 years, cheating who knows how many teenagers out of their allowance, until the cops started using it as an excuse to arrest student demonstrators.

As if they needed the excuse.

A group of students involved in such a demonstration were convicted of violating the ordinance. However, rather than just pay the fifty buck fine, they choose to spend a great deal more money appealing to first the State Supreme Court of Ohio, then to the Granddaddy of Them All in DC.

So named because all of them could have been your grandfather. Even the women.

They argued that the ordinance was unconstitutional because it didn't specify what was considered annoying behavior and what wasn't, and that it violated the First Amendment by restricting free speech. The Court agreed, and struck the ordinance down, proclaiming that since what one person considered annoying wouldn't annoy someone else, there was no fair way to apply the law the way it was written. Presumably this was after they shook their heads and wondered why this crap made it all the way up the pipeline.

4. United States v. Ninety Five Barrels, More or Less, Alleged Apple Cider Vinegar

Right about now you are probably very confused, and looking at the title, it's not hard to see why. It was the 1920s, a time in American history most known for Prohibition and organized crime. It was also a time of great ingenuity in the food market. Companies tried various means to get more money from their exploits, most of them shady. Until the Food and Drug purity laws were enacted, consumers had no protection from corporations stuffing cow testicles in a jar and calling them "pickled eggs."

And now, for the rest of your life, you will never be able to think of anything else when you see this.

Misbranding of food products was thus a serious concern back then, but there is a point where a line of stupidity is crossed, and it happened in 1924, when the United States government took the Douglas Packing Company all the way to the highest law of the land over their process for making apple cider vinegar. Specifically, Douglas used dried apples rehydrated with water to make the vinegar, rather than using a fresh apple. The government said this meant that it wasn't really apple cider vinegar.

Now, the reason for the goofy ass name is that in a case where the plaintiffs are claiming a foodstuff is not genuine, they are taking the foodstuff to court and not the company that made it, despite the company's lawyers arguing the case, etc. So, the United States wasn't suing Douglas Packing, they were suing the "alleged" apple cider vinegar. More specifically, 95 barrels of it. What is intriguing is that they didn't even bother to get an accurate count of just how many barrels they were claiming were misbranded, meaning in a court of law, where exactitude and specifics are stressed more than anything, the docket read "Ninety Five Barrels, More or Less."

The apple cider was encouraged not to take the stand in its own defense because it just would have made it look guilty.

In the end, the Court did rule in favor of the United States, stating that in the eyes of the law, the hooch had been misbranded, despite it tasting "almost the same" after Chief Justice and noted Food Connoisseur William Howard Taft sampled both "genuine" apple cider vinegar and the Douglas product.

But of course he did.

5. Rowan v. US Post Office Dept.

Everyone gets crap they don't want in the mail: credit card offers, donation requests, bills, literature from the Church of Latter Day Saints, and yes, advertising flyers. Most people just throw ads they don't want away, since they don't even have the addressee's name on them. Your right to not receive mail from advertisers you explicitly don't want sent to you is upheld by a Federal statute passed many years ago. But in 1970, a mail order business sued, claiming the statute unconstitutional. Their argument?

That it restricted free speech by prohibiting the distribution of crap that the addressee doesn't want them to send to their house.

If you go to a person's house and they don't want you there, they can ask you to leave, and if you don't, you can be arrested for trespassing. Why is it they thought mail is any different? What made it worse was that at the time, the statute only allowed for the blocking of advertising material that the addressee "believes to be erotically arousing or sexually provocative," which of course would lead you to believe this Rowan fellow was ticked off because some guy didn't want him sending flyers for the latest two for one sale at the Dildo Factory or half off on Foot Fetish mags.

Or, you know, whatever you're into.

The Court ruled that the addressee has the discretionary right to refuse advertisements sent to them from any retailer, not just the naughty ones, meaning that the only reason Sears and Wal-Mart can't bombard you with sales flyers if you don't want them to is because Rowan the Dildo King was shot down in court.

Getting Artistic with Coffee

Malaysian artist Hong Yi has found inspiration from Jay Chou's song, “Secret,” which the opening lyrics are about lifting a coffee cup from the saucer. In connection with the track, Yi decided to make a portrait of musician Chou using coffee stains. It took her 12 hours to complete this project; she states: “Quite a challenging medium to use—too much water and the rings wouldn’t form easily, very little water and you’d have to be precise with where you place the cup coz the rings would pretty much be permanent.” ^[1]

Like most of us, she spills some of it in the small saucer and that apparently inspires her to use the dirty bottom of the cup to start a sepia tone masterpiece. At first the coffee cup stains look just like the ones you can spot on table cloths in cheap restaurants, but as she progresses, her work starts to take shape. First you can make out the outline of the head, then the nose and mouth, the eyes, and before you know it you’re staring at a realistic portrait of Jay Chou made with coffee stains, and struggling to lift your jaw off the floor.

Hong Yi, who also goes by the nickname “Red”, said “My painting is meant to look like a sepia-toned old photograph to capture the essence of this story”. She spent around 12 hours on this incredible piece, because not only did she paint the whole thing with just a coffee cup, but the had to get the coffee mixture just perfect, as the ring stains were permanent the moment they touched the canvas.

For someone like me, who can’t paint a decent portrait with the best paintbrush money can’t buy, this kind of masterpiece is simply awe-inspiring, and I just can’t wait to see what this amazing artist comes up with next.

Ultimate Tazer Ball – The Sport That Lets You Taze Your Opponents

If you've read or watched the Harry Potter series, you'd know that Quidditch has Bludgers that are hurled at opponents to make them lose control of the ball. While this could be fatal in real life, no one's ever thought much of it since it's only make-believe. But what if there really was a sport where players were armed with weapons to cause serious injuries to their opponents? That, my friends, is exactly what Ultimate Tazer Ball is all about. The weird sport actually allows players to use stun guns on members of the opposing team.

I watched a few short videos of the sport being played, and in my opinion, there's nothing fascinating about it beyond the use of the stun guns. The ball used by the players is actually pretty huge, like a beachball, which makes it look like grown men running behind a kid's toy and trying to stun each other in the process. Menacing expressions are adopted, which I'm guessing is to provide the audience with some entertainment while in reality, nothing much is going on. But again, that's just my opinion, so let me tell you the rules of the game, and then I'll let you be the judge.

Two teams of four people each compete to get the oversized ball into the opponents’ net. Only players in possession of the ball are allowed to be zapped. And that's pretty much it for Ultimate Tazer Ball. You can see why although the YouTube video has over 1 million hits, no one's actually buying the fact that this is a real game. Many believe it to be just another internet hoax. But 25-year-old Canadian Eric Prum is pretty serious about his creation and insists that it isn't fake. He's actually launching a league along with German business partner Erik Wunsch. The first tournament is scheduled to start in Bangkok in March. So far there are four teams on the league, Philadelphia Killawatts (are you kidding me?), San Diego Spartans, LA Nightlight and Toronto Terror.

According to Prum the tasers aren't really dangerous police-grade ones. They aren't lethal or cardiac-inducing either, since the stun guns used are of much lower amperage. Even so, the players are pretty vocal about the pain. While one of them claims in a video, "It hurts, man, it doesn't feel good,"and another one warns, "If you're scared, don't play." The creators of the game are quite bold to say that Ultimate Tazer Ball will soon become an "exciting sport of the future." I highly doubt that, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Man Chooses Pet Buffalo as Best Man at Vow Renewal Ceremony

People who renew their wedding vows will generally go to any lengths to get everything right the second time around. So this man from Quinlan, Texas, thought things through and realized that no one could make a better best man than Wildthing, his pet buffalo. A 2008 picture of the ceremony shows Ronald Bridges and his wife Sherron posing along with the towering Wildthing. You'd think the picture was morphed if you didn't know it really happened.

The Bridges run a ranching business in Texas, and Ronald is actually pretty experienced in working with farm animals. So when Wildthing was born in 2005, Ronald decided to tame and raise him as a part of the family. When the buffalo responded beautifully to domestication, the Bridges kind of went overboard. They actually gave him a room of his own in the house where he could eat, sleep and come and go as he pleased. The only time he's not allowed inside is when they have guests over, as American Bison can actually be pretty temperamental and dangerous around people.

But this did not discourage Ronald one bit from having Wildthing participate in the wedding ceremony, and his wife, Sherron, had no objections either. The 40 guests present at the event were surprised and cautious at the same time. They stayed clear of the huge bison throughout the whole thing, and there were no disruptions on account of Wildthing. He performed his duties as best man pretty well, and Ronald remembers he was specially brushed for the occasion and looked very smart. He even carried the rings on the tips of his horns.

The Bridges say that Wildthing may look scary, but he's actually a real softie at heart. He loves being with the family all the time – relaxing on the grass with Ronald, playing with the rubbish wheelie bin and watching their daughter on the trampoline. At times he scratches himself against the side of the house or scrapes windows with his horns, and then he gets told off. So he goes away to sulk for a while, but he's back soon for more family-time. He sounds a lot like a dog-in-a-buffalo's-hide.

Strangely enough, the Bridges aren’t the only family with a buffalo as a pet. Jim and Linda Sautner treat Bailey the Buffalo as a member of the family and even let him ride in their car, while young South-African Luke Michaelides is best friends with two African Buffaloes.

Artist Turns Creepy Crawlers into Steampunk Works of Art

Insects have always freaked me out, so there's no way I'm falling for these half-steampunk versions. I do appreciate the craftsmanship of the creator, artist Lindsey Bessanson from Arizona. Given the pains that she goes through to create each masterpiece, her work certainly does deserve a mention.

While Lindsey started off making insect jewelry in 2003, over the years she's perfected a unique routine to create her robo-bugs. She first got the idea when she realized some insects were just too beautiful to be cast in gold or silver for jewelry. So now, she takes dried, dead insects and puts them through a humidifier for a couple of days. With this, the legs and wings become more flexible, allowing her to fan them out and position them according to her liking. At this stage she is able to take the insect apart, as though it were a toy. She then strengthens all the joints with metal and puts everything back together again. The completed insect is pinned to a piece of Styrofoam so it can harden into the desired position. It takes her about two weeks to complete an insect sculpture.

Some of Lindsey's works include the Desert Hairy Scorpion and Purple Dung Beetle with Metallic Gears. To me, those names sound like warriors from those old cheesy kung-fu movies, but in reality, Lindsey's creations are harmless compared to and somewhat less creepy than the living version. Her most favorite insects to work with seem to be tarantulas and scorpions. She obtains dead ones from eBay and from a few specialist entomologist websites. Sometimes, she finds a good-looking insect right at home and then it's her husband's job to put it in the freezer to die quickly and painlessly. Apparently, she can't do it herself because she feels for the insects she later turns into steampunk hybrids. "I can't even give them the last, 'Okay you're going to die now…' speech. It's too sad," she says.

Lindsey's not the only one who likes the mechanized insects. A few colleagues who find her work fascinating provide her with a steady supply of interesting bugs as well. The completed pieces are all for sale between £75 ($120) and £190 ($300). Well, now you know what's the worst thing someone could get for my birthday!

Divide + Conquer: 40 Sq Meter Studio Apartment Grows Up

In the midst of insanely high housing prices in Tel Aviv, Israel, clients who want to upgrade their living spaces are left with few choices. One client, the owner of a tiny 40 square meter studio, decided to keep her current abode and transform it entirely.

The client wanted to trade in her studio apartment for a one bedroom. Rather than adding walls to divide the space, SFARO Architects added a central command center contained in a cube in the center of the apartment.

The central cube contains storage, a kitchen, a bathroom and the resident’s entertainment gadgets. Sliding doors disappear into the body of the cube when closed and hide its contents when open, letting the resident create different looks for different situations whenever desired.

On either side of the cube are narrow corridors that create a sort of never-ending flow to the living areas. The only walls in the apartment, aside from the central cube, surround the bedroom – but even these can fold or slide out of the way to keep up the effortless flow of the space.

By placing all of the apartment’s functions into one central locations, the architects were able to create a dramatic space that feels much larger than its diminutive 40 square meters.

The renovation turned the small apartment from a studio into a one-bedroom with all of the style and personality of a much larger living space.

Yet another brilliantly efficient German design, this new twist on the classic folding chair concept is at least a worthy prototype to potentially replace its predecessor.

Still also a little German in its lack of comfortability, though, it could arguably use some cushions if intended for extended use.

Finally, also in German tradition, it is titled with a single compound word: Klappstuhl – for now simple plywood and single-color-painted variants are available with other options soon to come.

Lenticular graffiti takes a special hand in that the artist cannot just select any old surface to apply this type of artwork. Instead, he or she must scout around, looking for a location that happens to be suitable for this specific type of poster application. That’s why lenticular illusions are much more common to be found in the UK than practically anywhere else – it’s just that they have by far most shutters and latticed sidings than other countries do.

To that end, English artist dr. d is one of the premiere artists when it comes to lenticular graffiti. Here is one of his artworks critiquing the country’s prison system (for those unaware, H.M.P. stands for “Her Majesty’s Prison). First see how they work when viewed straight on:

But see what happens when you walk down the street, approaching the artwork from opposite directions. The message completely transforms!

While some people critique this type of art as it doesn’t involve directly painting on the artist’s selected street canvas, the reality is that it still takes quite a bit of talent to create these works on a computer. Not to mention a whole lot necessary to print them out and apply outdoors, so the illusion actually works wherever it happens to be installed.

Dr. d has even faced enough of these criticisms that he has a fair response already prepared on his website:

If you're making posters from scratch, then you're going to use a stencil or turn to your computer, but you still have to get them up, and I've yet to find the 'Control Alt Complete' command on mine…

Like all art though, the interpretation eventually comes down to the viewer. So what do you guys think? Are these printed graffiti installations art, or something else?

The 5 Most Egregious Charlie Sheen Roles

Charlie Sheen….well, what more can be said about Charlie that hasn't already been said a thousand times? I mean, let's face it: the guy is not connected with the real world.

But that's not what this article is about. You won't see jokes about tiger blood or winning here, so if you came for that, you should leave and change as a person because seriously, what's wrong with you? Now that those unfortunates are banished, we can focus on what this article is really about: pointing and laughing at stupid things Charlie Sheen pulled in the movies.

5. The Three Musketeers

Picture, if you will, the four actors that, in your opinion, would form the worst combination of Musketeers in movie history. Do you have it? Now, Walt Disney has taken your idea of horrible, and laughed at it, before saying, "Get a load of this":

That is, from left to right, Jack Bauer, Charlie Sheen, Robin, and George Steinbrenner. Now, I can look beyond the fact that it looks as if that's a high school clique, what with the hair growing everywhere and the adorable fat guy on the far right. I'm even willing to look beyond the fact that Charlie Sheen is Aramis, lover of Truth, Honor, and Jesus, all three of which Charlie is opposed to at all times, and as such, wears a gaudy cross on his uniform that I'm surprised doesn't burn him.

What I can't get over, what irks me more than anything, is that a guy manages to shoot Charlie Sheen in this movie, right in the chest, but he didn't die. The bullet was deflected by the gigantic cross he wore around his neck. Charlie Sheen, one of the world's truly godless people, was saved by Jesus paraphernalia.

It just figures this guy can't even kill a man correctly.

4. Red Dawn

Let the record reflect that for the most part, I have no problems with this movie. Any time a group of teenagers kill the crap out of some communists in the mountains and feature Patrick Swayze strutting around being all badass, I'm a happy guy. However, the Johnny Raincloud to Swayze's buoyant personality is his supposed brother, Charlie.

That's Charlie's "serious" face.

First of all look at that picture. Do those two look even remotely related? Most of the time siblings, particularly brothers, tend to look kinda sorta similar to each other. The only way Charlie and Patrick could look more different is if one of them was missing a nose. Now, I'm not saying they aren't related, I'm just saying they should probably ask Mom if she slipped any milkmen the tongue at some point. As for the rest of the movie, all I have to say is this: if you're going to kill Charlie Sheen off in a movie, at least give us the satisfaction of showing him die so we can cackle at the guy. I mean, jeez.

3. Young Guns

There was a time in the 1980s when the women of America swooned over a group of young male actors who appeared in a lot of the same movies together, known collectively as The Brat Pack. There was also a time in the 1980s when the women of America swooned over cowboys in movies. The geniuses in Hollywood came to a shocking conclusion: combine them both and create a cash cow of a movie that makes women wet themselves and their boyfriends jealous. The result? Young Guns.

There's Kiefer, again sporting a regrettable beard. Lou Diamond Phillips appears in this movie because this was an age when Lou Diamond Phillips was a bankable actor, and the whole gang is led by Charlie's brother Emilio Estevez, notorious leader of the Brat Pack (in real life) and the cowboy gang in the movie. He's Billy the Kid, of course. And then there's Charlie. He plays a guy named Dick, naturally, and is the first boss of their posse until someone finally manages to kill Charlie onscreen, violently.

Huh, without context I guess it's just kind of awesome instead of mind blowingly so. Oh well Charlie, look on the bright side: you could have portrayed the character Dirty Steve.

2. The Rookie

Clint Eastwood has had a lot of partners shot out from under him over the years, it always seems the psychopath that Clint's chasing proves too much for the number two man on the investigation. Such was the case at the beginning of The Rookie, when Eastwood's partner was shot to death and he finds himself saddled with a new partner, our friend Charlie.

No one but Charlie can look that bored over police work.

Drug dealers are shot, Clint Eastwood is raped by a woman (but come on, when has that guy ever said no?) and Charlie Sheen ends up working under Lt. Eastwood with a Playboy model as a partner because it always farts rainbows in the world of Charlie Sheen.

1. Himself

Remember when I said I wasn't going to ramble on about Winning and such? Well, I'm still not, but you have to acknowledge that the biggest acting role Charlie Sheen has ever had is the role of Charlie Sheen. This is a man who dropped out of high school three weeks before graduation to become an actor, who shot Kelly Preston in the arm (accidently of course) whose idea of a hot date is picking up porn stars, often more than one at a time, who has overdosed on cocaine on more than one occasion, and been arrested for, among other things, destroying seven thousand dollars in property in a hotel room he was staying in. But he didn't show his true potential for nuttiness until this past year.

All of us watched the drama unfold in the press: Charlie was fired from his lucrative job starring on Two and a Half Men after publicly insulting his bosses and just making an ass of himself in front of the entire world. It was like we were all sitting there watching him self destruct before our very eyes. We encouraged it, laughed at his insane antics. When Comedy Central roasted Charlie, six and a half million people tuned in. Think about that: six and a half million people watched a television program featuring a bunch of celebrities making fun of another celebrity, one who we had been using the SAME jokes on for months beforehand.

Yet, somehow, Charlie found a way. Charlie ALWAYS finds a way. When he couldn't hack high school, he became a millionaire actor. When serious acting roles stopped coming for him, he switched to comedy. When movie studios stopped calling him, he switched to television, and became one of the most highly paid actors in the history of television. When he was fired from that, he moved on to America's Court Jester, hitting not just the social media scene (he was being followed by 100,000 new people a day for months last year) but also doing live…I want to call them stand up shows, but he mostly sat on a stool and insulted his audience while drinking a lot (which is pretty much what his audience came to see him do.)

When he's not doing that, he's endorsing a line of kids clothing (SheenKidz) or freakin' electronic cigarettes (NicoSheen) and is now employed by a marketing agency specializing in Facebook and Twitter promotions. We spend so much time laughing at him that we don't realize he's playing us. Charlie Sheen found a way to make millions off of his nervous breakdown, is probably still getting laid every night in bed made of money and cocaine, and somehow we allowed him to get away with it. I don't know how he did it, I don't even want to know how he did it. But I have to acknowledge this about Charlie, no matter how much it pains me to say this…Charlie Sheen…is….

Winning.
