In the past, there was a big apple tree

A little boy loved to come and play around it everyday.

في قديم الزمان ... كان هناك شجرة تفاح ضخمة

و كان هناك طفل صغير يلعب حول هذه الشجرة كل يوم ..
He climbed to the treetop, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow...
مر الزمن... وكبر الطفل...
And he no longer played around the tree every day.
وأصبح لا يلعب حول الشجرة كل يوم...
One day, the boy came back to the tree and he
looked sad.

في يوم من الأيام ... رجع الصبي وكان حزينا
'Come and play with me,' the tree asked the boy.
فقالت له الشجرة: تعال والعب معي ..
'I am no longer a kid, I do not play around trees any more'
فأجابها الولد: لم أعد صغيرا لألعب حولك...
The boy replied.
'I want toys. I need money to buy them.'
أنا أريد بعض اللعب وأحتاج بعض النقود لشرائها...
'Sorry, but I do not have money...

فأجابته الشجرة: أنا لا يوجد معي نقود!!!
But you can pick all my apples and sell them.
ولكن يمكنك أن تأخذ كل التفاح الذي لدي لتبيعه ثم تحصل على النقود التي تريدها...
So, you will have money.' The boy was so excited.

الولد كان سعيدا للغاية...
He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left
happily.

فتسلق الشجرة وجمع كل ثمار التفاح التي عليها وغادر سعيدا ...
The boy never came back after he picked the
apples.

لم يعد الولد بعدها ...
The tree was sad.

فأصبحت الشجرة حزينة ...
One day, the boy who now turned into a man returned
وذات يوم عاد الولد ولكنه أصبح رجلا...!!!
And the tree was excited 'Come and play with me' the tree said.

كانت الشجرة في منتهى السعادة لعودته وقالت له: تعال والعب معي...
'I do not have time to play. I have to work for my family.

ولكنه أجابها:
لا يوجد وقت لدي للعب .. فقد أصبحت رجلا مسئولا عن عائلة...
We need a house for shelter.

ونحتاج لبيت يأوينا...
Can you help me?

هل يمكنك مساعدتي ؟
' Sorry',

آسفة!!
I do not have any house. But you can chop off my branches To build your house.

فأنا ليس عندي بيت ولكن يمكنك أن تأخذ جميع أغصاني لتبني بها بيتا لك...
' So the man cut all the branches of the tree and left happily.

فأخذ الرجل كل الأغصان وغادر وهو سعيد...
The tree was glad to see him happy but the man never came back since then.

كانت الشجرة مسرورة لرؤيته سعيدا... لكن الرجل لم يعد إليها ...
The tree was again lonely and sad.

فأصبحت الشجرة وحيدة و حزينة مرة أخرى...
One hot summer day,

وفي يوم حار من ايام الصيف...
The man returned and the tree was delighted.

عاد الرجل.. وكانت الشجرة في منتهى السعادة..
'Come and play with me!' the tree said.
فقالت له الشجرة: تعال والعب معي...
'I am getting old. I want to go sailing to relax
myself.

فقال لها الرجل لقد تقدمت في السن.. وأريد أن أبحر لأي مكان لأرتاح... 'Can you give me a boat?' 'Said the man'.

فقال لها الرجل: هل يمكنك إعطائي مركبا..
'Use my trunk to build your boat.
You can sail far away and be happy.

فأجابته: خذ جذعي لبناء مركب... وبعدها يمكنك أن تبحر به بعيدا ... وتكون سعيدا...
' So the man cut the tree trunk to make a boat.
فقطع الرجل جذع الشجرة وصنع مركبا!!
He went sailing and never showed up for a long time.

فسافر مبحرا ولم يعد لمدة طويلة..
Finally, the man returned after many years.

أخيرا عاد الرجل بعد غياب طويل .......
'Sorry, my boy. But I do not have anything for you anymore.

ولكن الشجرة قالت له: آسفة يا بني... لم يعد عندي أي شئ أعطيه لك..
No more apples for you... ' The tree said'.
وقالت له: لا يوجد تفاح...
'No problem, I do not have any teeth to bite
' The man replied.

قال لها: لا عليك لم يعد عندي أي أسنان لأقضمها بها...
'No more trunk for you to climb on'

لم يعد عندي جذع لتتسلقه..
'I am too old for that now' the man said.

فأجابها الرجل لقد أصبحت عجوزا ولا أستطيع القيام بذلك!!
'I really cannot give you anything...

قالت: أنا فعلا لا يوجد لدي ما أعطيه لك...
The only thing left is my dying root,'
The tree said with tears.

قالت وهي تبكي.. كل ما تبقى لدي جذور ميتة...
'I do not need much now, just a place to rest.

فأجابها: كل ما أحتاجه الآن هو مكان لأستريح فيه..
I am tired after all these years' the man replied.

فأنا متعب بعد كل هذه السنين...
'Good! Old tree roots are the best place to lean on
and rest,

فأجابته: جذور الشجرة العجوز هي أنسب مكان لك للراحة...
Come, come sit down with me and rest.

تعال ... تعال واجلس معي لتستريح ...
' The man sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears...

جلس الرجل إليها.. كانت الشجرة سعيدة.. تبسمت والدموع تملأ عينيها...
This is you and the tree is your parents!!!

هل تعرف من هي هذه الشجرة؟
إنها أبويك!!

The Pillars of Islam

Arkan Ul Islam are its basic foundations upon which is established ; they are five , mentioned in the narration by Ibn Umar in Which the prophet said:
( بنى الإسلام على خمسة : على أن يوحد الله ( وفى رواية أخرى على خمس): شهادة ألا إله إلا الله ، و أن محمدا عبده و رسوله ، و إقام الصلاة ، و إيتاء الزكاة ، و صيام رمضان ، و الحج . فقال رجل : الحج و صيام رمضان ، قال : لا صيام رمضان و الحج ، هكذا سمعته من رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم – متفق عليه – و اللفظ لمسلم.
“ Islaam is raised on five (pillars): To establish His Tawheed {and in other narration “The Shahaadah (testimony) that La illaha illa Allaah ( none has the right to be worshipped but Allaah ) and that Mohammed is Allah’s salve and Messenger}, establishment of prayers, payment of Zakaat, the fast of Ramadan , and pilgrimage to (to Makkah) . A person said ( to the narrator) ( which of the two precedes the other ) Pilgrimage or the fast of Ramadan? Upon this (the narrator) replied: No ( it is not the pilgrimage first) but the fast of Ramadan precede the pilgrimage , this is how I have heard it from Allaah’s Messenger”
FIRST: The Shahaadah of :
لا إله إلا الله ، و أن محمدا عبده و رسوله
La ilaaha illal laah,Mohammed Rassoulul laah Is the deceived belief expressed on the tongue as though one sees with his own eyes the certainty of his firm conviction. The fact that Shahaadah has been made as single pillar despite the multiplicity in what is being attested, because of either of the following (reasons):
The Messenger is a bearer ( of News) about Allaah تعالى . Attesting therefore , that he , the messenger is a true slave of Allah and bearer of the message ( of Islaam) is part of the meaning of Shahaadah ( La illaha illal laah) or That the two testimonies la illa illal laah , and Mohammed Rassoulal laah are ( the required) bases for the rightness of deeds and their acceptances , since both , the validity and acceptance of deeds , cannot be achieved without Al-Ikhlas to Allaah ( sincere devotion of intention to Allaah alone) and Mutaba’ah ( following) of Rasooulaul laah . It is through Al-Ikhlas that the Shahaadah of la illah illa llah is realized , while through Al-Moutaba’ah of Rasoolul laah , the Shahaadah that Mohammed is Allaah’s slave and Messenger is manifested. Some of the benefits attained by the declaration of the great Shahaadah include the liberation of the heart and soul from slavery to the created, and from following paths other than the Messenger’s path.
SECOND: Regarding the establishing of Prayers: it is worshipping Allah by performing it in the right and perfect manner19 and its prescribed times. Some of it’s benefits include the openness of the chest, contentment joys and detrainment from committing sins and wrong-doing.
THIRD: The Giving of Zakaat: is devoting worship to Allaah by offering the obligatory prescribed amount charity deducted from the wealth upon which Zakaat is due. Some of it’s benefits are : purifying the self from immoral characteristics like misery , and fulfilling the needs of Islaam and Muslims.
FOURTH: Fasting: It is devoting worship to Allaah by refraining from any everything known to nullify the fast during the days of the month of Ramadan.
Fasting coaches the self to endure the relinquishment of what it likes seeking to gain the pleasure of Allaah.
FIFTH : The Hajj to the House of Allaah: is worshipping Allaah by going to the sacred House (Al-Ka’abh) to execute the rites of Hajj.
Some of the benefits includes: the training of the self to expend the physical and financial sacrifices in obedience to Allaah تعالى . This is the reason why Hajj is considered as one kind of Jihad in the cause of Allaah تعالى.

فى التنبيه على بعض أمور يعتقدها العوام وهى مخالفة للشرع

Translated Friday Khutbah By Muhammad Al-'Uthaymeen Rahemahullah

Summary

1) A call to learn and understand Islaam and its rulings.

2) There is no connection between Hajj and Aqeeqah (i.e., the sacrificial slaughter and ceremony for welcoming a newborn Muslim).

3) It is not prohibited to cut down tress other than those within the Haram area (Makkah, Madinah).

4) Kissing the black stone and overcrowding around it.

5) Circumambulation behind the station of Ibraaheem.

6) The two Rak’ahs of prayer after Tawaaf.

7) Stopping Tawaaf due to prayer, or for other reasons and then continuing.

8) The Ihraam of a menstruating woman or one who has puerperal bleeding.

First Khutbah

O people! Fear Allaah and learn the rulings of your religion so that you can worship Allaah with clear understanding. The example of one who worships Allaah on the basis of sound knowledge in comparison to one who worships Allaah in ignorance is like the example of one who walks on a well-lit road while the other walks on a totally dark one; the former is aware of his footsteps and is sure of his safety, while the latter is ignorant and constantly fears slipping and straying.

O people! It has become a widespread belief among the masses that Hajj is not acceptable to Allaah if it is made by a pilgrim whose parents did not present a sacrificial offering seven days after his birth (i.e., for his ‘Aqeeqah). In reality, the ‘Aqeeqah has nothing to do with Hajj, for the soundness and acceptability of one's Hajj is not affected by whether or not one has had an ‘Aqeeqah.

There is another widespread belief that a person who is in Ihraam is not permitted to change the clothes that he is wearing. This belief is also incorrect, since a male or female in Ihraam is permitted to change the clothes in which he or she assumed Ihraam. (However, in the case of a male it must be replaced by the two cloths of Ihraam and not regular clothing).

It is also believed by some that a person in Ihraam is not permitted to cut down trees from the moment he assumes Ihraam. However, cutting down trees outside the Haram area is permissible for both those in Ihraam, and those who are not, as long as such trees are outside the sanctuary of the Haram. Thus, it is permissible for those in Ihraam and those who are not to cut down trees in ‘Arafah, but not in Minaa and Muzdalifah, since ‘Arafah lies outside the Haram, while Minaa and Muzdalifah are within its sanctuary.

Some people believe that Hajj is annulled if a pilgrim does not touch or kiss the Black Stone. But this is not true because touching the black stone or kissing it is recommended when it is affordable to do so, but is preferable to be overlooked in the case of dense crowding. This view is based on the saying of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam to ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab, may Allaah be pleased with him: “O ‘Umar! You are a strong man; don’t jostle (through the crowds) to reach the (Black) Stone, lest you should hurt the weak. If you find a gap then you may touch it, otherwise, you may face its direction and utter Tahleel and Takbeer (i.e., saying: ‘laa ilaaha illallaah and Allaahu akbar”) (i.e., there is nothing worthy of worship except Allaah, and Allaah is the Greatest). Ibn ‘Abbaas, may Allaah be pleased with him, disapproved of jostling against the crowds and would say in this regard: “No one should inflict harm on others nor be harmed by them.” Thus, the circumambulation of a person who avoids jostling against the crowds is better and more perfect than one who is given to jostling, thus causing harm to himself and to others.

Some people worry about circumambulating behind the Station of Prophet Ibraaheem, peace be upon him, but I say to them that there is no cause for worry as it is permissible to circumambulate even from behind the Station of Prophet Ibraaheem. The people of knowledge, may Allaah shower His Mercy on them, maintained that the whole Sacred Mosque (Al-Masjid Al-Haram) is a place for circumambulation, even if it is done in the courtyard of the Sacred Mosque. However, the nearer to the Sacred House, the better the circumambulation, provided that the pilgrim does not expose himself or others to harm.

O people! We see many pilgrims jostling behind the Station of Prophet Ibraaheem in order to be as near to it as possible, thinking that the two Rak’ahs of Tawaaf will not be valid except when performed near the Station. This is not correct, since proximity to the Station is not a condition of the validity of the two Rak’ahs. Rather the two Rak’ahs are valid even if the pilgrim is far from the Station, though he should have the Station between himself and the Ka’bah, even if he is in the courtyard or extension of the Mosque - if there are large crowds.

O people! Sometimes prayer is established while a pilgrim is circumambulating or walking between Mounts Safaa and Marwah (i.e., doing Sa’i), if this is the case then he must observe that prayer and then complete the Tawaaf or Sa’i from the point at which he stopped.

Sometimes a pilgrim feels tired and wishes to postpone his Sa’i to another time, either till the beginning of the day or the end of night, which is permissible. It is also permissible for a pilgrim who feels tired during Sa’i to sit down, take a rest and then continue Sa’i again, or to resume while being carried on a carrier.

O people! Certain questions are frequently asked about women who are menstruating or who have puerperal blood; what should they do in their Ihraam? The answer to such questions is found in the reply given by the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam ‘Aa’ishah, may Allaah be pleased with her: “Do all that a pilgrim does except that you are not permitted circumambulate the House.” Thus, a menstruating woman or one who has a puerperal blood may perform all the rites of Hajj, except that she is not permitted to circumambulate the Ka'bah until after she is purified. Sa’i is attached to Tawaaf in this regard. Thus, if a woman assumes Ihraam to make ‘Umrah while she is menstruating, or if she begins menstruating after assuming Ihraam, she may only complete her ‘Umrah if she becomes pure before sunrise. She may then take her Ihraam off (as usual) and subsequently make Ihraam intending to perform Hajj with the people. However, if the sun rises before she becomes purified, she should intend Hajj and merge it with ‘Umrah, thus performing Qiran Hajj, for which it is sufficient for her to make one Tawaaf and one Sa’i to complete both her Hajj and ‘Umrah.

Allaah the Almighty said that which means: “And strive for Allaah with the striving due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty. [It is] the religion of your father, Ibraaheem. He [i.e., Allaah] named you 'Muslims' before [in former scriptures] and in this [revelation] that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over the people. So establish prayer and give zakaah and hold fast to Allaah. He is your protector, and excellent is the helper.” (Al-Hajj: 78).

عشرہ ذی الحجہ کی فضیلت اوراس میں کیے جانے والے اعمال

اس اللہ تعالی کی ہی تعریفات ہیں جس نے اوقات وزمان کوپیدا فرمایا اوران اوقات میں سے ایک کودوسرے پرفضیلت ادا فرمائي اورکچھ مہینوں اورایام کوخصوصی فضیلت اورامتیازی حیثيت بھی دی اورایسے فضائل سے نوازا جس میں اجروثواب بڑھ جاتا ہے ۔

اوراللہ تعالی کی جانب سے اپنے بندوں پرفضل وکرم بڑھ جاتا ہے تاکہ انہیں اعمال صالحہ کرنے اوراطاعت وفرمانبرداری کرنے میں اس سے تعاون مدد حاصل ہو ، اورنشاط وچستی کی تجدید ہوتی ہے تا کہ مسلمان ثواب کا وافر حصہ حاصل کرسکے ، اوروہ موت کے آنے سے قبل ہی اس کی تیاری کرتے ہوئے روزقیامت کے لیے بھی زاداکٹھا کرسکے ۔

اطاعت وفرمانبرداری کے مواسم کے فوائد یہ ہیں کہ جوکچھ رہ گيا اورعمل نہيں کیا جاسکا اس کمی کوپورا کیا جائے اوراس کے عوض میں کچھ اعمال کرلیے جائيں ، اوران فضلیت والے موسموں سے ہرایک موسم میں کوئي نہ کوئي ایساکام پایا جاتا ہے جس پرعمل پیرا ہوکر بندے اللہ تعالی کا تقرب حاصل کرتے ہیں ۔

اوراس میں اللہ تعالی کی مہربانیوں کا فیظان ہوتا ہے جسے اللہ تعالی چاہے اس پراپنے فضل وکرم اوررحمت سے مہربانی کرتے ہیں ، لھذا وہ شخ‍ص بہت ہی خوش نصیب ہے جوان موسموں اورمہینوں اورایام واوقات میں اپنے پروردگار والہ کی اطاعت وفرمانبرداری کرکے اللہ رب العزت کا تقرب حاصل کرنے کوغنیمت جانتا ہے لھذا ہوسکتا ہے ایسے شخص کواس مہربانی کی خوشبو حاصل ہو اوروہ سعادت حاصل کرتے ہوئے جہنم کی آگ اوراس کے شعلوں سے محفوظ ہوجائے ۔

لھذا مسلمان کواپنی عمرکی قدراورزندگي کی قیمت پہچانتے ہوئے اپنے رب کی عبادت کثرت سے کرنی چاہیے اورموت تک خیروبھلائي کے کاموں پرہمیشگی کرنی چاہیے ۔

اللہ سبحانہ وتعالی کا فرمان ہے :

{ اوریقین آنے تک اپنے رب کی عبادت کیجئے } الحجر ( 99 ) ۔

مفسرین نے یقین کی تفسیر کرتےہوئے کہا ہے کہ اس سے مراد موت ہے۔

اطاعت فرمانبرداری کے عظیم موسموں میں ذوالحجہ کے پہلے دس دن بھی ہیں جسے اللہ تعالی نے باقی سارے سال کے ایام پرفضیلت دی ہے اس کی دلیل مندرجہ ذیل حدیث میں پائي جاتی ہے :

ابن عباس رضي اللہ تعالی عنہما بیان کرتے ہيں کہ رسول اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا :

( ان دس دنوں میں کیے گئے اعمال صالحہ اللہ تعالی کوسب سے زيادہ محبوب ہیں ، صحابہ نے عرض کی اللہ تعالی کے راستے میں جھاد بھی نہيں !! تورسول اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : اورجھاد فی سبیل اللہ بھی نہيں ، لیکن وہ شخص جواپنا مال اورجان لے کر نکلے اورکچھ بھی واپس نہ لائے ) صحیح بخاری ( 2 / 457 ) ۔

اورابن عباس رضي اللہ تعالی عنہما سے ہی مروی ہے کہ رسول اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا :

( عشرہ ذی الحجہ میں کیے گئے عمل سے زیادہ پاکیزہ اورزيادہ اجروالا عمل کوئي نہيں ، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کہا گيا کہ نہ ہی اللہ تعالی کے راستے میں جھاد کرنا ؟ تورسول اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : اورنہ ہی اللہ تعالی کے راستے میں جھاد کرنا ) سنن دارمی ( 1 / 357 ) اس کی سند حسن ہے دیکھیں الارواء الغلیل ( 3 / 398 ) ۔

مندرجہ بالا اوراس کے علاوہ دوسری نصوص اس پردلالت کرتی ہیں کہ ذوالحجہ کے پہلے دس دن باقی سال کے سب ایام سے بہتر اورافضل ہيں اوراس میں کسی بھی قسم کا کوئي استثناء نہيں حتی کہ رمضان المبارک کا آخری عشرہ بھی نہيں ، لیکن رمضان المبارک کے آخری عشرہ کی دس راتیں ان ایام سے بہتر اورافضل ہیں کیونکہ ان میں لیلۃ القدر شامل ہے ، اورلیلۃ القدر ایک ہزار راتوں سے افضل ہے ، تواس طرح سب دلائل میں جمع ہوتا ہے ۔

ہمارے مسلمان بھائي : ان دس دنوں کی فضيلت بہت سے امور کی بنا پرواضح ہوتی ہے جن میں سے چند ایک ذيل میں ذکر کیے جاتے ہيں :

1 - اللہ سبحانہ وتعالی نے ان ایام کی قسم کھائي ہے : اورکسی چيز کی قسم اٹھانا اس کی اہمیت وفضلیت اوراس کے عظیم نفع پردلالت کرتی ہے ، اللہ سبحانہ وتعالی نے اس کی قسم اٹھاتے ہوئے فرمایا :

{ قسم ہے فجر کی ، اوردس راتوں کی } ۔

ابن عباس اورابن زبیر رضي اللہ تعالی عنہم اورمجاھد ، اورکئي ایک سلف رحمہ اللہ تعالی کا کہنا ہے کہ یہ عشرہ ذی الحجہ ہے ، اورابن کثیر رحمہ اللہ تعالی کہتے ہیں : اوریہی صحیح ہے ۔ دیکھیں : تفسیر ابن کثیر ( 8 / 413 ) ۔

2 - نبی مکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بھی اس کی گواہی اورشھادت دی ہے کہ یہ دنیا کے ایام میں سب سے افضل ایام ہیں جیسا کہ حدیث بیان بھی کی جاچکی ہے ۔

3 - نبی مکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان ایام میں اعمال صالحہ کرنے پرابھارا ہے : اس کی وجہ سے یہ ہے کہ باقی سارے ممالک میں بسنے والوں کوتوان ایام کے شرف کی بنا پراورجگہ کے شرف کی بنا پرجوحجاج کرام کے ساتھ خاص ہے ۔

4 - نبی مکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان ایام میں زيادہ سے زيادہ حمدوثنا اورتکبریں پڑھنے کا حکم دیا ہے ، جیسا کہ عبداللہ بن عمررضي اللہ تعالی عنہما بیان کرتے ہیں کہ نبی مکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا :

( اللہ تعالی کے ہاں ان دس ایام سے عظیم ایام اورکوئي نہيں اورنہ ہی ان میں کیے گئے اعمال کے علاوہ کوئي اوراعمال اسے زيادہ محبوب ہيں ، لھذا ان ایام میں لاالہ الااللہ ، اور تکبریں بکثرت پڑھا کرو ، اوراللہ تعالی کی حمدوثنا کثرت سے کیا کرو ) مسنداحمد ( 7 / 224 ) ، علامہ احمد شاکر رحمہ اللہ تعالی نے اس کی سند کوصحیح قرار دیا ہے ۔

5 - اس عشرہ میں یوم عرفہ بھی آتا ہے اوریہ ایسا دن ہے جسے یوم مشھود کہا جاتا ہے جس میں میں اللہ سبحانہ وتعالی نے اپنے دین کومکمل کیا اوراس دن کا روزہ رکھنے سے دوبرس کےگناہ معاف ہوجاتے ہیں ، اوراسی عشرہ میں یوم النحر ( دس ذی الحجہ ) بھی ہے جوعلی الاطلاق سال بھر کے دنوں میں سب سے ‏عظيم دن ہے اوریہی حج کا بڑا دن ہے جس میں ایسی عبادات اوراطاعات وفرمانبرداری اکٹھی ہوتی ہيں جوکسی اوردن میں جمع نہيں ہوتییں۔

6 - اسی عشرہ میں قربانی اورحج بھی آتا ہے ۔

عشرہ ذي الحجہ ( ذوالحجہ کے پہلے دس دن ) کے اعمال میں یہ بھی شامل ہے کہ : ان دس دنوں کا ادراک اللہ تعالی کی اپنے بندوں پر عظیم نعمتوں میں سے ایک نعمت ہے ، لھذا بندے کواس کی اس طرح قدر کرنی چاہیے جس طرح اس کا حق ہے اورجس طرح صالح اورنیک لوگوں نے اس کی قدر کی ، تومسلمان پرواجب اورضروری ہے کہ وہ اس نعمت کاشعور پیدا کرے اوراس فرصت کوغنیمت جانتے ہوئےان دس دنوں میں زيادہ سے زيادہ اعمال صالحہ کرے ۔

اوراسے چاہیے کہ وہ اپنے نفس کواطاعت وفرمانبرداری کی طرف راغب کرے ، خیروبھلائي کے طریقے اورکئي طرح کی نیکیاں بھی اللہ تعالی کی طرف اپنے بندوں پر فضل وکرم اورعنایت ہے ، اوراس نے انہيں کئي ایک اقسام کی اطاعت وفرمانبرداری کے راستے دکھائے ہیں تا کہ وہ اپنے رب اورآقا کی عبادت میں لگے رہیں اوراعمال صالحہ کرنے سے اکتاہٹ محسوس نہ کریں ، بلکہ وہ اس میں چست اورنشیط ہوکر عبادت میں مگن رہیں ۔

ذوالحجہ کے ان دس دنوں میں مسلمان کومندرجہ ذيل کام کرنے چاہیں :

1 - روزے ۔

مسلمان شخص کےلیے نو ذوالحجہ کا روزہ رکھنا سنت ہے کیونکہ نبی مکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان دس ایام میں اعمال صالحہ کرنے پرابھارا ہے اور روزہ رکھنا اعمال صالحہ میں سے سب سے افضل اوراعلی کام ہے ، اوراللہ تعالی نے روزہ اپنے لیے چنا ہے جیسا کہ حدیث قدسی میں اللہ سبحانہ وتعالی کا فرمان ہے :

( ابن آدم کے سارے کے سارے اعمال اس کے اپنے لیے ہیں لیکن روزہ نہيں کیونکہ وہ میرے لیے ہے اورمیں ہی اس کا اجروثواب دونگا ) ، صحیح بخاری حدیث نمبر ( 1805 ) ۔

نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بھی نو ذوالحجہ کا روزہ رکھا کرتے تھے ، ھنیدہ بن خالد اپنی بیوی سے اوروہ نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی کسی زوجہ محترمہ سے بیان کرتے ہیں کہ نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی زوجہ محترمہ نے بیان کیا : نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نو ذوالحجہ اوریوم عاشوراء اورہر ماہ تین روزے رکھا کرتے تھے ، مہینہ کے پہلے سوموار اوردو جمعراتوں کے ۔

سنن نسائي ( 4 / 205 ) سنن ابوداود ، علامہ البانی رحمہ اللہ تعالی نے صحیح ابوداود ( 2 / 462 ) میں اسے صحیح قرار دیا ہے ۔

2 - تکبیریں کہنا :

ان دس ایام میں مساجد ، راستوں اورگھروں اورہر جگہ جہاں اللہ تعالی کا ذکر کرنا جائز ہے وہیں اونچی آواز سے تکبیریں اورلاالہ الااللہ ، اورالحمدللہ کہنا چاہیے تا کہ اللہ تعالی کی عبادت کا اظہار اوراللہ تعالی کی تعظیم کا اعلان ہو ۔ مرد تواونچي آواز سے کہيں گے لیکن عورتیں پست آواز میں ہی کہيں ۔

اللہ سبحانہ وتعالی کا فرمان ہے :

{ اپنے فائدے حاصل کرنے کوآجائيں ، اوران مقرردنوں میں ان چوپایوں پراللہ تعالی کانام یاد کریں جوپالتوہیں } الحج ( 28 ) ۔

جمہورعلماء کرام کا کہنا ہے کہ معلوم دنوں سے مراد ذوالحجہ کے دس دن ہیں کیونکہ ابن عباس رضي اللہ تعالی عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایام معلومات سے مراد دس دن ہیں ۔

اورتکبیر کے الفاظ یہ ہیں :

الله أكبر ، الله أكبر لا إله إلا الله ، والله أكبر ولله الحمد

اللہ بہت بڑاہے ، اللہ بہت بڑا ہے ، اللہ تعالی کےعلاوہ کوئي معبود برحق نہيں ، اوراللہ بہت بڑا ہے ، اوراللہ تعالی ہی کی تعریفات ہیں ۔

اس کےعلاوہ بھی تکبیریں ہیں ۔

یہاں ایک بات کہنا چاہیں گے کہ موجود دورمیں تکبریں کہنے کی سنت کوترک کیا جاچکا ہے اورخاص کران دس دنوں کی ابتداء میں توسننے میں نہیں آتی کسی نادر شخص سے سننے میں آئيں گیں ، اس لیے ضروری ہے کہ تکبیروں کواونچی آواز میں کہا جائے تاکہ سنت زندہ ہوسکے اورغافل لوگوں کوبھی اس سے یاد دھانی ہو۔

ابن عمر اور ابوھریرہ رضي اللہ تعالی عنہما کے بارہ میں ثابت ہے کہ وہ دونوں ان دس ایام میں بازاروں میں نکل کر اونچی آواز کے ساتھ تکبیریں کہا کرتے تھے اورلوگ بھی ان کی تکبیروں کی وجہ سے تکبیریں کہا کرتے تھے ، اس کا مقصد اورمراد یہ ہے کہ لوگوں کوتکبریں کہنا یاد آئيں اورہرایک اپنی جگہ پراکیلے ہی تکبریں کہنا شروع کردے ، اس سے یہ مراد نہيں کہ سب لوگ اکٹھے ہوکربیک آواز تکبیریں کہيں کیونکہ ایسا کرنا مشروع نہيں ہے ۔

اورجس سنت کوچھوڑا جاچکا ہویا پھر وہ تقریبا چھوڑی جارہی ہو تواس پرعمل کرنا بہت ہی عظیم اجروثواب پایا جاتا ہے کیونکہ نبی مکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا فرمان بھی اس پردلالت کرتا ہے :

( جس نے بھی میری مرد سنت کوزندہ کیا اسے اس پر عمل کرنے والے کے برابر ثواب دیا جائے گا اوران دونوں کے اجروثواب میں کچھ کمی نہيں ہوگي ) اسے امام ترمذی رحمہ اللہ تعالی نے روایت کیا ہے : دیکھیں سنن ترمذي ( 7 / 443 ) یہ حدیث اپنے شواھد کے ساتھ حسن درجہ تک پہنچتی ہے ۔

3 - حج وعمرہ کی ادائيگي :

ان دس دنوں میں جوسب سے افضل اوراعلی کام ہے وہ بیت اللہ کاحج وعمرہ کرنا ہے ، لھذا جسے بھی اللہ تعالی اسے اپنے گھرکا حج کرنے کی توفیق عطا فرمائے اوراس نے مطلوبہ طریقہ سے حج کے اعمال ادا کیے توان شاء اللہ اسے بھی اس کا حصہ ملے گا جونبی مکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے اس فرمان میں بیان کیا ہے :

( حج مبرور کا جنت کے علاوہ کوئي اجروثواب نہيں ) ۔

4 - ان دس ایام میں عموما اعمال صالحہ کرنا :

کیونکہ اللہ تعالی کواعمال صالحہ محبوب ہیں ، اوراس وجہ سے یہ لازم ہے کہ اس کا اجروثواب بھی اللہ تعالی سے بہت زيادہ ملے گا ، لھذا جس کے لیے حج کرنا ممکن نہيں اسے چاہیے کہ وہ ان افضل ایام واوقات کواللہ تعالی کی اطاعت وفرمانبرداری میں گزارتے ہوئے نماز اورقرآت قرآن کریم اورذکر واذکار اوردعا وصدقہ وخیرات اوروالدین سے حسن سلوک اور نیکی کاحکم اوربرائي سے روکنے اوراسی طرح دوسرے خیروبھلائي کے موں کا خاص اہمتام کرے ۔

5 - قربانی :

عشرہ ذی الحجہ کے اعمال صالحہ میں قربانی کے ذریعہ اللہ تعالی کا تقرب حاصل کرنا بھی شامل ہے کہ قربانی کی جائے اوراللہ تعالی کےراستے میں مال خرچ کیا جائے ۔

6 - سچی اورپکی توبہ جسے توبہ نصوحہ کہا جاتا ہے کی جائے :

ان دس دنوں میں جوچيززيادہ تاکید سے ہونی چاہیے وہ اللہ تعالی کے سامنے اپنے کیے کی توبہ ہے کہ جوکچھ معاصی وگناہ اورنافرمانی ہوچکی اس پرمسلمان توبہ کرے ۔

توبہ اللہ تعالی کی جانب رجوع اوراس کی طرف واپس آنےاورجوچيزاللہ تعالی کوناپسند ہے اسے ظاہری اورباطنی دونوں طرح ترک کرنے اورجوکچھ ہوچکا اس پرندامت ، فوری طور پراسے ترک اورآئندہ نہ کرنے کے عزم اور اللہ تعالی کے محبوب عمل کوکرتے ہوئے حق پراستقامت کوتوبہ کہتے ہیں ۔

اورمسلمان پرواجب اورضروری ہے کہ جب وہ کسی معصیت ونافرمانی کا ارتکاب کربیٹھے تواس جتنی جلدی ہوسکے توبہ کرلے اوراسے مہلت نہيں دینی چاہیے کیونکہ :

اول : اسے اس کا علم نہيں کہ موت کب اورکسی وقت اورکس لحظہ میں آدبوچے ۔

دوم : کیونکہ برائي اوربھی برائيوں کے ارتکاب کا باعث بنتی ہے ۔

اورپھرفضیلت کے اوقات میں توبہ کرنے کی شان ہی کچھ نرالی ہوتی ہے وہ اس لیے کہ اس وقت غالب طور پرنفس اللہ تعالی کی اطاعت وفرمانبرداری کی طرف راغب ہوتا ہے اورخیروبھلائي کرنے کی خواہش ہوتی ہے جس کی بنا پراعتراف گناہ اورندامت کا اظہاربہت جلد پیدا ہوتا ہے ، وگرنہ توبہ توہروقت اورہرزمانے میں واجب اورضروری ہے ، اورجب کسی مسلمان میں اعمال صالحہ اورسچی توبہ فضیلت والے اوقات اورموسم خيرمیں جمع ہوجائے توان شاء یہ کامیابی وکامرانی کاپیش خیمہ اور زينہ ہے ۔

اللہ سبحانہ وتعالی کا فرمان ہے :

{ ہاں جوشخص توبہ کرلے اورایمان لے آئے اورنیک اعمال کرے یقین ہے کہ وہ نجات پانے والوں میں سےہوجائےگا } القصص ( 67 ) ۔

لھذا مسلمان شخص کوخیروبھلائي کے موسموں اوراوقات پرحریص ہونا چاہیے کیونکہ یہ بہت ہی جلد ختم ہوجاتے ہیں ، اوراسے چاہیے کہ وہ اپنے آپ کواعمال صالحہ کی طرف لائے تا کہ وہ اس کا اجروثواب حاصل کرسکے اس لیے کہ اسے اجروثواب کی اشد ترین ضرورت ہے ۔

اوراجروثواب اورنیکیاں بہت کم ہیں ، لیکن موت اوراس دنیا فانی سے کوچ کا وقت انتہائي قریب ہے ، اورراستہ بھی پرخطر اورپرپیچ ہے ، اوردھوکہ غالب ہے اورعظیم خطرے کا خدشہ ہے اوراللہ سبحانہ وتعالی تہمیں دیکھ رہا ہے ، اوراسی کی طرف واپس جانا ہے اوراس کے علاوہ کوئی بھی ٹھکانہ دینے والا نہيں :

{ جوبھی ذرہ برابر خیروبھلائي اورنیکی کرے گا وہ اسے دیکھ لے گا اورجو بھی ذرہ برابر برائي اورشر کا ارتکاب کرے گا وہ بھی اسے دیکھ لے گا } ۔

اس فرصت کوغنیمت جانیں اوران عظيم ایام میں اعمال کریں ، اس کا کوئي عوض نہيں اوراس کی قدروقیمت کا اندازہ نہيں لگایا جاسکتا ، جتنی جلدی ہوسکے اعمال کرلو اعمال کرلو ، اورموت کے حملے سے قبل جلدی اورتیزي دکھا لو ، اورزيادتی کرنے والے کی ندامت سے قبل کچھ کرلو ، اوراس واپسی کے سوال سے قبل کچھ عمل کرلو جس کا جواب بھی نہيں دیا جائے اوراس کی بات تسلیم کرتے ہوئے اسے دنیا میں واپس نہيں بھیجا جائے گا ۔

امیدوں اورخواہشوں کے پورے ہونے میں حائل ہونے والی موت سے قبل اوراس سے قبل کہ وہ اپنے اس گڑھے میں اپنے اعمال کے ساتھ قید کردیا جائے کچھ اعمال صالحہ کرلو ۔

اے وہ شخص جس کا دل رات کی سیاہی کی مانند سیاہ ہوچکا ہے ، کیا تیرا دل روشن اورنرم نہيں ہونا چاہتا اورکیا وہ نرم نہيں ہوسکتا ؟ کیوں نہيں ایسا ہوسکتا ہے آؤ اوراس عشرہ ذوالحجہ میں اپنے رب اورمولا کی رحمت وفضل کے جھونکے سمیٹ لو کیونکہ یہ ایسے جھونکے ہیں جسے یہ پہنچ جائيں وہ شخص سعادت مند ہوجاتا ہے اوریہ پہنچتے بھی اسے ہی ہیں جسے اللہ تعالی چاہتا اوروہ قیامت کے دن سعادت مند ہوگا ۔

Khutbatul Wada

The Last Sermon of the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) is known as Khutbatul Wada’ (the farewell sermon) to the Muslims who had accompanied him (saw) for the Hajj towards the end of his life. It is mentioned in almost all books of Hadith. This sermon was delivered in front of a large gathering of people, on the Ninth Day of Dhul-Hijjah 10 A.H. (during the Hajj), in the ‘Uranah valley of Mount Arafat’ in Makkah.
This khutbah was long, and contained much guidance and instructions on many issues. Whosoever heard whatever part of the sermon reported it and later some scholars put it together. It is a great Khutbah and we should all pay attention to its message and guidance.
“O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I don’t know whether, after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today.
O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds. Allah has forbidden you to take usury (Interest), therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived…
Beware of Satan, for your safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.
O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have right over you. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and comitted helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to commit adultery.
O People, listen to me in earnest, whorship Allah, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadhan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to.
You know that every Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. You are all equal. Nobody has superiority over other except by piety and good action.
Remember, one day you will appear before Allah and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not astray from the path of righteousness after I am gone. O People, no prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand my words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Qur’an and my example, the Sunnah and if you follow these you will never go astray.
All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me direcly. Be my witness, oh Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people.”
The following ahadith in sahih al-Bukhari refer to the sermon and quote part of it, (see sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 1623, 1626, 6361). Sahih of Imam Muslim also refers to this Sermon in Hadith no. 98. Imam at-Tirmidhi has mentioned this sermon in ahadith nos. 1628, 2046, 2085. Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal has given us the longest and perhaps the most complete version of this Sermon in his Musnad, Hadith no. 19774. (ra)

Summary

The merit of fearing Allaah and glorifying His rituals.
Hajj and ‘Umrah are of the rites of Allaah and must be glorified.
Prohibitions of Ihraam (state of pilgrim while performing Hajj or ‘Umrah):

i. Shaving or cutting hair (and its rulings).

ii. Trimming the nails.

iii. Wearing perfume.

iv. Sexual intercourse (and related issues).

v. Marriage.

vi. Wearing gloves.

vii. Wearing trousers or other tailored clothes for men.

viii. Covering the head for men.

Women must cover their faces in front of strange, non-related men.
Issues related to Ihraam.

O people! Fear Allaah and honor His symbols as this is an indication of the amount of piety in your hearts. Whoever honors the sacred ordinances of his Lord, then that is better for him in the sight of his Lord – He will expiate from him his sins, raise his rank and save him from all kinds of sufferings. Indeed, from Allaah’s rites are the rituals of Hajj and ‘Umrah; you should therefore honor and respect them, and strive to avoid the acts that nullify these rituals so that you may prosper.

O people! You should know that the deeds which nullify the Ihraam (the state of a pilgrim in which he performs Hajj and ‘Umrah, and during which he is prohibited from certain acts that are lawful otherwise) include:

Shaving or cutting the hair of the head, or removing it by any other method: A person in the state of Ihraam, man or woman, is not permitted to remove any amount of the hair from his/her head. He/she may scratch his/her head lightly and if some hair falls out unintentionally, he/she will not be held accountable for that. However, if a Muhrim (a person in the state of Ihraam) has some hairs that are irritating his eyes, he/she may take them out with tweezers.

Cutting or trimming fingernails: It is permitted, however, to cut a part of the fingernail that is already broken and is causing irritation.

Applying perfume: A Muhrim should not apply perfume to his garments or body, nor should he eat or drink aromatic foods (i.e., that which contain strong herbs) and drinks. Yet, applying perfume before entering into the state of Ihraam is a Prophetic tradition to be followed by men and women alike; there is no harm if its smell remains even after donning the Ihraam.

Sexual intercourse and whatever leads to it: This includes lustful touching or eye contact, passionate kissing, etc. – a Muhrim is not permitted to do any of these things.

Conducting a contract of marriage for one’s self or on behalf of others.

Wearing gloves.

The kinds of dresses forbidden for men during Ihraam are sewn clothing, cloaks, flannels, vests, socks, Kanaadir (Western-style shoes), Ghutrahs (kinds of head coverings) or caps.

Covering the head for men with something that fits on it, such as Ghutrahs and caps, etc. As for umbrellas, tents, roofs of cars, as well as all other things that hang over the head without touching it, there is nothing wrong with them. A man may also wrap his head if it is likely that he may catch a cold were he to leave it uncovered. In this case, however, he would be required to offer an expiation for it in either of the three forms: slaughtering a sheep and distributing the meat among the needy (in Makkah), fasting for three days or feeding six poor persons, each with a quarter of a Saa’ (one Saa’ is approximately three kilograms) of wheat or half a Saa’ of any other kind of grain.

It is permissible for a Muhrim to wear a watch and glasses and to fix his garments with pins and he is not required to offer expiation for that, especially when there is a need to do so.

Covering the face for women: Muhrim women are not permitted to cover their faces except when non-Mahram men (those who are not related to them and whom they can get married to) pass near them. In this case, a woman may cover her face even if the covering touches her skin. A Muhrim woman may wear whatever kind of garment she wishes (that meets Islaamic criterion), without exposing parts of her body if she is in the presence of men who are not allowed to look at her uncovered.

Here are a few issues that I would like to shed some light on:

It is permissible for men or women to replace the garments of Ihraam with other garments of a similar nature. For instance, a man may take off his upper or lower garment and replace it with a new one; and the same applies to women.

A pilgrim may uproot green and non-green trees or plants, except when he is within the boundaries of the Sacred House, where he is not permitted to dig up trees, grass or any other types of plants. Thus, it is permissible to uproot trees in ‘Arafah, but not in Mina or Muzdalifah, since the former lies outside the boundaries of the Sacred House, while the latter two lie within them.

A Muhrim woman is permitted to wear socks and Kanaadir (Western-style shoes) even if she was barefoot when intending to enter into the state of Ihraam. Muhrim men are not permitted to wear Kanaadir or socks but they may wear ordinary shoes, although they may have been barefooted when they intended to assume Ihraam.

A woman may make the intention to enter Ihraam during her menstrual period, then bathe herself and apply perfume before actually assuming Ihraam, as is customarily done by people intending Ihraam for ‘Umrah. In the case of Hajj, if she reaches Makkah before sunrise, while being free from the impurity of menstruation, she may do the ‘Umrah then come out of Ihraam and then enter into the state of Ihraam once more for Hajj with everyone else. Conversely, if she becomes pure from menstruation only after sunrise, she should make intention for Hajj and in this case she will perform Hajj Qiraan (combining both Hajj and ‘Umrah). A Hajj and ‘Umrah will be counted for her, for when she does Tawaaf and Sa’i, she should intend them for both Hajj and ‘Umrah.

Allaah says that which means: “Hajj is (during) well-known months, so whoever has made Hajj obligatory upon himself therein (by entering the state of Ihraam), there is (to be for him) no sexual relations and no disobedience and no disputing during Hajj. And whatever good you do – Allaah knows it. And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is fear of Allaah. And fear Me, O you of understanding.” (Al Baqarah: 197)

You are approaching virtuous days; they are the best days as the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said in an authentic hadeeth: “The best days in this life are the (first) ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah”. Furthermore, Allaah swore by them in His Book, and when Allaah swears by something, it is a reflection of its great importance. Allaah says that which translates to: “By the dawn. And the nights of the ten days” (Al-Fajr: 1-2). These are the first ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah and they include the day of ‘Arafah, about which the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: “There is no day in which Allaah Frees more of His slaves from The Fire than the day of ‘Arafah” (Muslim). These ten days are concluded by the day of An-Nahr (sacrifice); then follows the day of Al-Qarr. The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: “The greatest days in the scale of Allaah are the days of An-Nahr and Al-Qarr” (Abu Daawood). The day ofAn-Nahr is the major day of Hajj and the day of ‘Eid; the day of Al-Qarr is the following day. Virtuous deeds have a magnified position during these days. The Prophetsallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allaah than the (first) ten days of Dhu’l-Hijjah” (Ad-Daarimi), in another narration the companions asked: “Not even Jihaad for the sake of Allaah?” he sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: “Not even Jihaad for the sake of Allaah, except for a man who loses (sacrifices) both his wealth and life in a battle” (Ahmad, Abu Dawood, Ibn Maajah, At-Tirmidhi).

What great virtues and what a great season! What an opportunity this is to collect greater rewards than that of Jihaad, which is the best deed after sound belief and punctual Salaah. This season represents a wonderful opportunity for those who want to compete in collecting rewards and a miserable loss for the idle, who shun such opportunities.

Slaves of Allaah! Compete for and rush towards the forgiveness of Allaah and paradise which is as wide as the heavens and earth and do not slacken and be unhurried, because the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: “Being laid-back is best in every matter except for good deeds” (Abu Daawood & Al-Haakim). One must compete and march forward when it comes to working for the hereafter as Allaah says that which translates as: “… So for this let the competitors compete”(Al-Mutaffifeen: 26) and also, “…So race to (all that is) good…” (Al-Baqarah: 148).

In this season, the roads leading to goodness are numerous, so do not miss out on any of them. The intelligent ones are those who exhaust themselves during this season to gain abundantly; you see many of them joining their days with their nights, continuously doing righteous deeds and hardly sleeping in order to get the most out of this season. On the other hand, you see those who put all their efforts into the attainment of worldly gains. The sad fact is that the result of all this effort would be, at most, the doubling of their capital - if indeed they do not actually lose it. As for the wise believers, nothing is dearer to them than increasing their efforts and righteous deeds that please the Lord, get them closer to Him and elevate their ranks; Allaah told us what pleases Him in His Book and through His messenger; Allaah will guide those who truly wish for goodness (if He Wills).

Salaah is one of the ways leading to goodness and something that Allaah loves. The slave must be keen to perform it in congregation as Allaah says that which translates to: “…And bow (in rukoo’) with those who bow” (Al-Baqarah: 43), and the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said, “He who hears the Adhaan (call for Salaah) and does not respond, his Salaah is not accepted, except with the congregation, unless he has a (valid) excuse” (Ibn Maajah) The excuse is either fear, sickness or rain.

A slave of Allaah who is guided would supply himself with optional Salaah in these ten days, because it is a path to goodness and something that Allaah loves. Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: “Salaah is the best thing that one can do, so perform as many as you possibly can” (At-Tabaraani) and he sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam also said: “Two light rak’ahs which you may think as insignificant to add to you deeds, is better for you than possessing the whole world” (Ibn Al-Mubaarak) he sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam also said, as narrated by Abu Hurayrah, “The son of Aadam could not do anything more beneficial for himself than Salaah, reconciliation (between Muslims) and being well mannered” (Al-Bayhaqi and others).

These were three examples of good deeds that lead to righteousness, Salaah, reconciliation and being well mannered which are better than anything else that the son ofAadam can do, yet you see some people slight the performance of obligatory Salaah, let alone optional Salaah; you see them instigating disputes between people; and you see ill-mannered people who have lost out on the great reward for having a good character. So let us repent to Allaah from our sins, reform our situation and improve our manners.

A woman was praised in the presence of the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam for her Salaah, fasting and other good deeds; her only flaw was that she harmed her neighbours. Upon hearing the praise, the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: “She is from the people of the Fire” (Ahmad). In reality, the guided ones are those who do all those things which please Allaah and refrain from all those things that cause His wrath, as some of the scholars said: “Wisdom is to perform what you are obliged to, in the correct manner and on time; he who is granted wisdom has attained a great deal of good”.

Some of the Ahaadeeth which mention the virtues of optional Salaah are as follows: “Prostrate as much as you can, because whenever you prostrate, Allaah elevates your rank by a degree and wipes out a sin from your record” (Muslim) and in another narration: “Whenever a slave prostrates to Allaah, Allaah writes a reward for him, wipes out one of his sins and elevates his rank by one degree; so prostrate as much as you can” (Ibn Maajah). The way to perform Salaah is as the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam described: “The night Salaah is done two (rak’ah) at a time” (Al-Bukhaari) and in another narration: “The optional Salaah at night and during the day is done two Rak’ah at a time” (Ahmad, Ibn Maajah and others).

Slaves of Allaah! Another of the paths to righteousness and fields of competition is reciting the Qur’aan. The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: “The best amongst you are those who learn the Qur’aan and then teach it” (Bukhaari) he sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam also said: “He who recites a letter from the Book of Allaah will get a reward and each of these rewards will be multiplied ten times. I do not mean ‘Alif Laam Meem’ is one letter, but rather ‘Alif” is a letter, ‘Laam is a letter and ‘Meem’ is a letter ” (At-Tirmidhi) and he sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam also said: “If one of goes to the masjid and learns a verse or reads two verses from the Book of Allaah, is better for him than owning two she-camels, (reading) three are better than (owning) three, (reading) four are better than (owning) four and so on” (Muslim) and also, “Let him who wants to attain love for Allaah and His messenger read from The Book of Allaah”.

Another of the fields of goodness is fasting as the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam encouraged us to “Fast on Mondays and Thursdays” (Ahmad & Nasaa’i)and “Fast the day of ‘Arafah” (Muslim) also: “Fast like the Prophet Daawood (who fasted every other day)” (Bukhaari & Muslim). I do not know of any specific reference that relates to any special virtue for fasting these ten days in particular, but, having said this I would add that one should still fast during these days because of the general texts encouraging good deeds during these ten days.

Another way is giving in charity; ‘Abdur-Rahmaan Ibn Saburah, may Allaah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said:“(Every day) An Angel calls out in the heavens saying, ‘O Allaah! Bless and compensate for the wealth of the one who spends (for your sake) and ruin the wealth of the one who holds back (from spending)’” (At-Tabaraani) Also he sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said to Bilaal, may Allaah be pleased with him: “Spend (charitably) O Bilaal! - and do not fear that Allaah will decrease your provision (due to your spending)” and hesallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam addressed Asmaa’, may Allaah be pleased with her, saying: “Spend (charitably) and don’t count (i.e. don’t be cautious in spending in this manner) otherwise your provisions will become limited and don’t hold back (from spending in charity) otherwise your provisions will be held back” (Bukhaari & Muslim) The Messenger of Allaah sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam also said: “I swear that these three things are true: That giving in charity does not decrease the wealth of the slave …..…” (Ahmad & Tirmidhi). Giving in charity enables one to be among the seven categories of people who will be protected under the shade of the Throne of Allaah; regarding this, the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: “… and a man who gave charity so secretly that even his left hand would not know how much his right hand had spent” (Bukhaari & Muslim) also, “Charity given in secret extinguishes the wrath of Allaah”. One of the best forms of charitable giving is to give someone a drink of water as the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: “The best form of charity is giving someone water (to drink)” (Ahmad, An-Nasaa’i and Ibn Maajah).

O slaves of Allaah! One of the best deeds in these days is to initiate Hajj as a way of drawing closer to Allaah and fasting the day of ‘Arafah for those who are not performing Hajj. Allaah willing we will talk about the virtues of Hajj in another Khutbah. Offering a sacrificial animal is also one of the most virtuous deeds that one can perform. The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: “He who does not offer a sacrifice while being financially able to, let him not come close to our masjid (i.e. pray with us)” and he sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam also said: “When the ten days (Dhu’l-Hijjah) have begun and one of you intends to offer a sacrifice, then let him not cut any of his hair or remove anything from his skin” (Muslim) in another narration he sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said: “Let him not cut anything from his hair or nails until he sacrifices” (Ad-Daarimi).

These are examples of virtuous deeds, so take advantage of them; beware of laziness and neglect and know that Allaah Has favoured certain seasons over others, so let us take advantage of these opportunities and increase our righteous deeds; perhaps Allaah will forgive us for our sins and shortcomings.

Now, we have a great initiative launched by the the Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, God bless him. Noor Dubai initiative for the treatment of a million cases of blind or semi-blind as far as possible, whether surgical intervention or laser or whatever at the Sheikh expenses including: round-trip and treatment on the territory of Dubai. The initiative includes both cases of blindness and semi-blind, permanent or temporary blind , non-Muslim and Muslim , non-white and white, Arab and non-Arab and for all who are hoping to see the light that he had deprived from it. The Sheikh has volunteered his good initiative to seek God blessing and asking Almighty God to accept us and purify us and distract us and our people and take away diseases from us. I started communicating with you to post it as an ad to my people who lost the light. It is for males, females, and for poor and ignored people. The following are the items needed to process any case:

1 - A copy of patient's passport and write on it the word patient + personal picture.
2 - A copy of the passport of the joined coordinator and write the word coordinator on the copy + his/her personal picture.
3 - An accurate and detail Medical report from a public hospital certified by the Ministry of Health.
4 - A contact phone number for the patient or the person who is in charge of the case.

For every child who did not see the light,
For each parent who loses his love,
For each elder who has all the hope to return his vision again,

I say to all of them, whatever their cases and whatever the views of doctors, May Allah authorize other opinions to recover the patient through the Dubai Nour which is sponsored by his highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. I kept asking God's help to do any favors for the people of my country and ask God to bless me to do good things and leave the evil actions and accept the love of the poor to have mercy on us, 'My intention is only for the reform and support comes only from my God".
