Guillermo Caballa, a talented photographer based in Vigo, Spain, loves to take beautiful photos in the forests of Galicia together with his lovely dog Malu.

Caballa’s photos, which he shoots with an Olympus E-M5, caught our eye not just for their beauty, but for their distinctively introspective atmosphere as well. Most of his photos feature lonely forests wreathed in thick fog and a pensive man going for a walk, often together with the ever-loyal Malu. Their subdued but picturesque mood seems to calm and comfort the weary soul.

Asia is a beautiful and mysterious
continent with breathtaking landscapes and deep-rooted traditions. This
is exactly how photographer Weerapong Chaipuck shows it in his photos.
Looking at his work, it is hard to believe that he took up photography
only after an early retirement from the medical profession.

His main interest is travel and landscape photography, through which he shows us the beauty of our world. “To
create a project, you must do homework about the place; which season
and period of time are optimal for taking photographs, what is the
vantage point, which lens should be used, and what your post production
process is going to look like,” – says Chaipuck. And that homework has paid off with well-executed and stunningly atmospheric shots.

Although he uses a lot of Photoshop and
other production techniques to create his star trail photos, he says
that the atmospheric qualities of his shots are thanks to knowing the
right time of day to shoot. “When shooting landscapes, it is 100%
natural, and pinpointing the exact time of day to shoot, whether that be
30 minutes before the sun begins to rise or 30 minutes before sunset,
is a constant challenge. But that’s also what makes it all worth it,” he says.

Enjoy the amazing photos in 500px page .

I had to park my car a fair distance away and that meant a long walk along the beach in 35 degree heat. It did not matter because i had to get the shot ! The surreal milky green water is a natural phenomenon caused by electomagnetic activity from the lightning hitting the waters surface. There was no rain where I was and not much wind either but in the distance the sky was charged and angry subjecting its wrath over the graveyard of dead trees in this normally very dry lake bed.

Young or old, it’s never too late to
change directions in life and begin chasing your dreams instead of just
your obligations. Photographer Kylli Sparre is a perfect example of
this – she discovered that she wanted to be a photographer only after
completing professional ballet school.

“When the studies were over, I realized
it wasn’t the path for me. I have been searching for an outlet for my
creativity ever since. [A few] years ago I found it in photography and
never looked back,” writes the artist on her website. The influence of
her professional ballet experience is clear in her current photography
work – the models in her surreal and dream-like pictures are filled with
grace, effortless poise, elegance and beauty.

The graceful models’ dream-like
appearance is only enhanced by their flowing dresses and by the foggy,
dream-like surroundings they’re shot in.

Sparre’s portfolio and prints are available on her website and at Qlick Editions. She also shares her work with fans on Facebook.

With my focus in Abstract Landscapes, my goal is to create something dramatic as a result of its simplicity. I love the natural beauty of landscape photography but also the unique visions found in digital art. My images combine the two, moving along the plane toward one end or the other.
Wei Seng Chen

photographer, Malaysia

Dr. Wei Seng Chen is a Malaysian freelance photographer. He takes on assignments for local and foreign photo agencies or event management companies, shooting mostly sports events and tournaments.

Dr. Chen began experimenting with photography at the age of 13. He joined his school’s photography club in 1975 and learned all about photography, from shooting and processing film to making prints in the darkroom. However, he had to take a break from photography when he enrolled in medical school.

He got back into photography in 2006 when he bought a DSLR camera. The long hours spent developing film and making prints in the darkroom were no longer necessary because the computer and printer took over the role.

The Internet brought about a market place for Dr. Chen to sell his images as a hobbyist photographer. He began to get freelance work covering events when his images were shared on social networking websites and photography forums. His hobby now allows him to travel to exotic places in Asia looking for interesting local celebrations and traditional sports.

Today he balances his time working as a family physician, researcher, preceptor to a medical school and a photographer.

It may be hard to believe, but the frog you’re about to see is not a frog at all!

Inspired by nature, recognized body painter Johannes Stoetter turns living models into animals, fruits, flowers, or blends them with the surroundings. These impressively detailed paintings take up to five months of thorough planning and up to eight hours of work to complete. The winner of the World Bodypainting Championship in 2012 says that the key to success is to love what you’re doing:

“I think I observe the world, nature, colors and shapes with very clear eyes and an open heart. And painting is my big passion.”

Check out his amazing works, including the latest and most impressive body painting – a tree frog, which was created using five human models.

I was born in Moscow at 1977 and came to Israel with my parents when I was 13 years old. Since then, Israel is my home, which I love and respect.
I love this young country because of it's diversity, resourcefulness and innovation, temperamental people, beautiful nature, ancient history and art.

I am an artist and I believe in friendship through art. I believe that art is a universal language, which unites people from different cultures around the world.
For me, art is the shortest way from heart to heart...

Visual effects artist Catherine Nelson, who has worked on films like Moulin Rouge and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, creates her personal work in the medium of digital photography, compositing hundreds of photographs into miniature floating worlds.

There are several series in the “Artwork” section of her website, as well as earlier works that include imaginary landscapes.

The animated feature film Up may have introduced the masses to the image of a house being whisked away into the sky, but France-based photographer Laurent Chehere expands on the visual with a variety of residential structures surreally captured in mid-air.

The aptly titled series Flying Houses takes suburban homes and urban apartment buildings out of their defining neighborhood backdrops and places them floating amidst the clouds.

The collection of photo manipulations really showcases the visual effectiveness of building design sans a disruptive environment. The levitating edifices each represent a different lifestyle dreamily gliding high above the surface. The series is said to be a metaphor for travel. While some journey into another land in the lap of luxury, others have to deal with the confines of flying coach. Sometimes being in such close quarters with a crying baby and a person with uncontrollable fits of coughing can feel like you’re trapped in a burning building.

Storm Thorgerson was born in Potters Bar, which was in Middlesex at the time and is now in Hertfordshire. He was a key member of the British graphic art group Hipgnosis, and designed many of their most famous single and album covers. Of late, he runs a design studio called StormStudios - a loose group of freelancers. The current line up includes - Rupert Truman (Photographer), Peter Curzon (Designer), Finlay Cowan (Designer and Illustrator), Daniel Abbott (Designer and Artist), Lee Baker (Designer, Retoucher and Artist), Jerry Sweet (Designer) along with Storm's Personal Assistant, Laura Truman (Prints) and Charlie Barnes. Perhaps Thorgerson's most famous designs are those for Pink Floyd.[1] His design for The Dark Side of the Moon has been called one of the greatest album covers of all time. (Designed by Thorgerson, the cover itself was drawn by Hipgnosis designer George Hardie.)[2] Many of his designs are notable for their surreal elements. He often places objects out of their traditional contexts, especially with vast spaces around them, to give them an awkward appearance while highlighting their beauty. To quote Thorgerson, "I like photography because it is a reality medium, unlike drawing which is unreal. I like to mess with reality...to bend reality. Some of my works beg the question of is it real or not?"[3] Several books have been devoted to surveying Thorgerson's work which spans more than four decades.
Lee Jeffries lives in Manchester in the United Kingdom. Close to the professional football circle, this artist starts to photograph sporting events. A chance meeting with a young homeless girl in the streets of London changes his artistic approach forever. Lee Jeffries recalls that, initially, he had stolen a photo from this young homeless girl huddled in a sleeping bag. The photographer knew that the young girl had noticed him but his first reaction was to leave. He says that something made him stay and go and discuss with the homeless girl. His perception about the homeless completely changes. They become the subject of his art. The models in his photographs are homeless people that he has met in Europe and in the United States: «Situations arose, and I made an effort to learn to get to know each of the subjects before asking their permission to do their portrait.» From then onwards, his photographs portray his convictions and his compassion to the world.
Photographer Michael Yamashita has been shooting for the National Geographic magazine for over 30 years, combining his dual passions of photography and travel. After graduating from Wesleyan University with a degree in Asian studies, he spent seven years in Asia, which became his photographic area of specialty. Upon returning to the US, Yamashita began shooting for the National Geographic as well as other American and international magazines and clients.
In addition to Yamashita’s focus on Asia, his work has taken him to six continents. As a third-generation Japanese-American, he is fluent in Japanese, and has covered the length of Japan, from Hokkaido to Kyushu. Yamashita’s particular specialty is in retracing the paths of famous travelers, resulting in stories on Marco Polo, the Japanese poet Basho, and the Chinese explorer Zheng He.
His feature documentary, The Ghost Fleet, inspired by his National Geographic story about the 15th-century Admiral, won the Best Historical Documentary prize at the New York International Independent Film Festival and his National Geographic Channel documentary, Marco Polo: The China Mystery Revealed, based on his three-part magazine story, received two Asian Television and Film Awards. It was also included in the top twenty most popular NG Channel documentaries of the decade.
A frequent keynote speaker for corporations and foundations, as well as a lecturer and teacher at schools and workshops around the world, Yamashita has received numerous industry awards, including those from the Pictures of the Year, Photo District News, the New York Art Directors Club, and the Asian-American Journalists Association. Major exhibits of his work have opened throughout Asia, in Tokyo, Beijing, Seoul, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Taipei and Singapore, as well as in Rome, Venice, Frankfurt, and Perpignan, France. His work has been exhibited at galleries in Los Angeles and at the National Gallery in Washington, DC
Yamashita has published nine books (most inspired by his 30 National Geographic stories): The Great Wall From Beginning to End; New York: Flying High, an aerial portrait of Manhattan; Zheng He: Tracing the Epic Voyages of China’s Greatest Explorer; Japan: The Soul of a Nation; Marco Polo, A Photographer’s Journey; Mekong: A Journey on the Mother of Waters; In the Japanese Garden; A Pictorial Tribute to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy; Lakes, Peaks and Prairies: Discovering the U.S. Canadian Border.
While not traveling, Michael Yamashita lives with his family in rural New Jersey, where he maintains a studio and is an active volunteer fireman.
