Should they be found guilty and handed the maximum punishment, Xhaka and Shaqiri will miss the Swiss’ final Group E game against Costa Rica – a potential must-win encounter if Serbia beat Brazil – as well as the last-16 tie against one of Germany, Mexico and Sweden should they go on to qualify.

Shaqiri was asked about his decision to perform the gesture after scoring an injury-time winner in the 2-1 victory, but perhaps fearing further sanction, he batted questions away.

“I can’t discuss the gesture I am afraid. We are footballers not politicians,” he said. “All I can say is that I scored a goal I am proud of. We can’t discuss anything else. Emotions sometimes take over footballers and there was a lot of emotion out there. To score a goal like that – it is very difficult to keep your emotions under check.”

Fifa has also launched an investigation against Serbia after a group of fans were seen wearing offensive jumpers at the game, which featured the face of convicted war criminal Ratko Mladic.

“In relation to the same match, disciplinary proceedings have been opened against the Serbian FA for crowd disturbance and the display of political and offensive messages by Serbian fans,” the statement continued.

“Furthermore, a preliminary investigation has been opened against the coach of the Serbian national team Mladen Krstajic for alleged statements made in the aftermath of the said match.”

The head coach made a complaint through the Serbian Football Association regarding the performance of the officials in the match, with Krstajic making comments about Felix Brych in the aftermath of the match as well as Serbian FA vice-president Savo Milosevic.

The Wyoming, Minnesota Police Department is getting a lot of attention after sharing an inventive method for catching weed smokers on their high holy day.

The department shared a photo on Twitter of an officer hiding behind a trash can with a large net while keeping a watchful eye on a pile of stoner delights, such as Doritos, Cheetos, White Castle and even the video game “Grand Theft Auto.”

“Undercover #420 operations are in place,” the department wrote in its cheeky tweet. “Discreet traps have been set up throughout the city today. #Happy420”

Since it was posted, the photo has received over 97,000 retweets and more than 165,000 likes, as well as heaps and heaps of praise from delighted (and possibly high) social media users.

The department took to Twitter later on to explain that, although it was glad the internet was able to laugh along with the festive joke, there was an important message behind the photo.

After a recent trip back home to visit her parents, 26-year-old Rasheeda Kinley was struck by the realization that her mom has indeed become one of her little friends on the street.

“I never thought this would happen,” said Rasheeda. “But while we were getting pedicures and chatting about our lives, it became clear. Seventh-grade me would be shook.”

Rasheeda went on to explain how she came to this conclusion.

“My mom spent decades shouting at me if I talked back to her, demanding I show her respect because she was my mother and not ‘one of those fast girls I went to school with,’” said Rasheeda. “But as I’ve gotten older, our relationship has changed. We go to lunch and talk about my crushes, we laugh over drinks, she’s even been known to roll me a joint.

“It took a minute to get used to the idea, but those are all undeniably things I did with my little friends on the street, too,” she added.

Rasheeda’s mother, Wanda Kinley, is taken aback by her daughter’s realization.

“I’ve been trying to come to terms with it all,” said Wanda. “But Rasheeda has gotten to the age where she’s graduated college, started her own career, and made a life for herself. I’ll always be her mother, but I’m excited for our next chapter where I get to be her friend, too.”

“She better still keep my damn front door closed when she comes to visit, though,” Wanda added. “I ain’t air-conditioning the whole neighborhood.”

Rasheeda seems to share her mother’s sentiments.

“Wanda was pretty strict with me growing up, but she was a great mom regardless,” Rasheeda said. “I’m so glad that we get to have this bond now.”

“Did she just have the nerve to call me by my first name?” added Wanda.

Professionals recommend that you get a haircut every three months to keep your ends healthy. But getting a fresh style can be an emotional experience. Just ask 25-year-old Stamford resident Grace Anaclerio, who was bravely able to power through watching her gorgeous locks fall to the floor and not cry until after she left the salon!

Wow! We’re simply amazed that Grace was able to control her emotions for the few minutes she spent taking her robe off and paying for her cut!

Anaclerio recently went to Tina’s Trims to get two inches cut off in preparation for a job interview. She never expected that she’d experience the devastating feeling of an unplanned extra half inch being chopped off.

“I’m not sure anyone will ever be able to understand the trauma I felt in that moment of seeing more hair cut off than I asked for,” said Anaclerio sniffling. “But I’m nothing if not an incredibly strong woman, so I was able to hold it together until I got outside and past the salon’s storefront.”

Good job, Grace! Your strength is astounding!

Sources confirm that when Anaclerio reached the end of the block, she burst into tears and ran to her car where she would spend 20 minutes looking in the mirror while flipping her hair from one side to the other.

Friends of Anaclerio reported receiving anywhere from 12-16 snapchats of the new haircut, her face tear-stained in each one.

“She was fully sobbing in every picture,” said roommate Mary Elizabeth. “But also posing with pouted lips, asking if I liked the way it was layered. I’m just impressed she was able to pay without having a full breakdown in front of the receptionist.”

Grace’s perseverance is a testament to her strong will and easygoing nature.

“I literally start panicking the moment my hairdresser does the first cut,” said coworker Jenna Anderson. “Grace is role model for us all!”

Needless to say, we’re blown away by Grace’s emotional endurance! Keep it up girl, and sorry about the bad haircut!

Recently incarcerated Tommy Robinson has updated Schrödinger’s famous thought experiment by insisting that Muslims exist in a state of both getting away with all their crimes whilst simultaneously surrounding him in prison.

A spokesperson for Robinson declared the observation true until said Muslim is directly observed, and that there was a dire need for further studies on the phenomenon.

They went on, “These people clearly need further observation. The criminal justice system is either completely ignoring these Muslims or incarcerating them for their crimes, and this could seriously threaten our widely held lazy stereotypes.”

He continued “Some bloke down the pub who knows – for definite – told me that Muslims, in particular, have been getting away with crimes for years, and if you don’t believe him, the prisons are full of them – which proves his point.”

“They need to be studied extensively, secure and in isolation for a prolonged period of time for objective results. Many people are surprised how closely these scientific conditions resemble an offshore prison shipped moored somewhere in the Atlantic.”

Local voter Simon Williams said that he fully supported Robinson’s latest thought experiment.

He told us, “I see a few Muslims hanging around the place, and I’m absolutely positive that they’re getting away with crimes right under our noses. But they could equally be in prison right now trying to intimidate freedom-fighter Tommy Robinson, couldn’t they?

“I don’t see why people have such an issue with that position.”

“This ‘Schrödinger’ fella sounds smart, how can I vote for him?”

(SP) – According to several sources inside the New England Patriots front office, the team is loading up on picks early in the 2018 NFL Draft in hopes of being able to land a quarterback with the basic athletic skills of being able to catch a football while jogging at a brisk pace.

“I think we all realized in the Super Bowl that we were limited in certain areas by what Tom Brady can and can’t do,” said a team staffer. “That game turned on Nick Foles’ ability to catch versus Tom Brady not being able to do so. We hope to find ourselves a Nick Foles 2.0.”

Brady has reportedly been working with his personal trainer on catching, but the Patriots don’t believe they can ever trust him in that capacity.

“This is a guy nearing his mid-40s,” said a Patriots coach. “You don’t learn to catch then. Catching is a skill you pick up by, like, age 4 or 5. I’d trust your average toddler wide open in the flat with a pass in the air over Tom Brady. No offense to Tom. He had some great years for us, but the NFL has clearly moved past unathletic, one-dimensional quarterbacks like him. We need a QB who can stretch the field. We need a dynamic specimen like Nick Foles.”

The Patriots currently hold two 1st Round picks and two 2nd Round picks and could possibly package them to move up to No. 1 overall to take a quarterback who can catch.

“They’re hoping to have private workouts with Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen and have them run some routes,” said a source. “But they aren’t looking at Lamar Jackson. Bill Belichick doesn’t like the look of him as a receiver.”

(SP) – Augusta National Golf Club completed the installation of artificial turf throughout its 18-hole, 7,435-yard course today just in time for the start of this year’s The Masters. Augusta officials believe the synthetic surface will save more than $3.2 million in course upkeep costs each year.

“Not only is our new FieldTurf surface going to save money, but the bright green fake grass and the white and pink plastic azaleas are really going to pop on television,” said Augusta chairman Billy Payne.

Payne admitted there was initially pushback from some Augusta members about installing artificial turf, but they eventually agreed the change was for the best.

“Do you have any idea how many chemicals are spread over a golf course?” said Payne. “Anyone who thinks golf courses are unspoiled nature are living in a dream world. Our new course doesn’t use a single chemical — well, outside of the thousands of gallons of petroleum used to make the grass.”

This year’s Masters will also feature new artificial sounds.

“The problem with birds is that they don’t always chirp or stay quiet when you want them to,” said Payne. “So we will now pipe soothing bird noises in across the course, as well as some subtle piano music.”

Payne also announced one more change to this year’s tournament developed in conjunction with CBS.

“Jim Nantz will be replaced by a human-like robot,” said the chairman. “I don’t think viewers will notice much of a difference.”

Remember when Amitabh Bachchan ended up at the temple to pray for Nirupa Roy’s critical condition in the classic movie Deewar? It was a clear lesson to almost every Amitabh Bachchan fan, and something that every Bollywood movie-goer somewhat subconsciously concurred to i.e., when you have no place else to go and you need to recuperate, look up to God. I do not understand what is so abnormal or spell binding for the world to see Mamata Banerjee at the Jagannath Temple, Puri. Very normal, this. You are in trouble, you feel helpless, and your misdeeds are haunting you. You fear that your past is catching up, your sins are now being accounted for and you do not have anywhere else to hide. You usually end up at a holy place. Praying hard to redeem yourself. Urging priests to placate the Gods. Mamata Banerjee, if not any less, is in as much helplessness as Amitabh Bachchan from Deewar. In the movie he prayed for the health and life of his mother. Hoping that Mamata Banerjee’s mother is fine (I pray for her long life and health as well).

If it was just praying, it could have been at any temple. Why only Jagannath temple? Unless there are not any temples left in West Bengal (WB). I am still hoping that there are still a few temples left in WB. But even if there are, it might not please her vote bank. Also there is a scope of her being looked at as a hypocrite. Remember the recent riots, the banning of Durga Puja, and the riots yet again? It would rather have had an adverse effect to her image and politics by going to a temple in WB. Lord Jagannath temple at Puri is one of the Char Dham. Given the proximity to the temple, in terms of both the physical and political distance, Jagannath Temple, Odisha makes sense. The other three Dhams are a long shot, perhaps both physically and politically. They are in Uttarakhand, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu does not interest her politically, and the other two states are apparently politically hostile to her and run by allegedly misguiding saffron forces of Hindutva, i.e., the BJP.

There is also another significance of praying at Jagannath temple. Praying at a temple of Char Dham, it is believed to enhance the value of your worship and it is sort of an express route to forgiveness. Many of us are aware of the age old hindi/urdu proverb, “Sau Chuhe Kha kar, Billi chali Hajj ko” (After devouring on the lives of 100 mice, the cat goes for Hajj to offer prayers for her sins). If you look at the proverb closely, Mecca is of the greatest significance in the Islamic world. Hajj is considered the highest pilgrimage for Muslims. Insofar as Mecca is concerned, in all probability she would be denied entry (for obvious reasons). So the greater the pilgrimage significance of the temple, the greater is the forgiveness you pray for the sins you have committed. Hence, Jagannath temple strategically makes sense.

One wonders as to what is the helplessness, the sudden urge to visit a Lord of Char Dham. Elections are not near, neither in WB nor in Odisha, CBI is still pending inquiry in Narada and Sharada, the world is not much concerned about the riots, the madrasas filled with weapons is old news, and the minorities are seemingly “happy” and “safe”. She does not have any competitors left to challenge her as the face of the Maha-GathBandhan (Grand Alliance). No Yadavs, Mayawatis, Gandhis, Jayalalithas, Kejriwals to question her as the poster girl of such an alliance for 2019. Nitish and Patnaik are busy fending for their own territories. The Left are left with their political significance only to the campus of Jawaharlal National University, New Delhi. What exactly is it that is bothering her? What is the restlessness to visit Odisha just a couple of days after the conclusion of a successful BJP national executive meet?

Is she afraid of the rise and rise of the BJP? Is she afraid that she might also meet the fate of the other regional leaders who have been made defunct in the recent elections? Is she afraid that banking too much on the age old vote banks of minorities will seal her defeat in the State and the Centre? Or is it just that the cat mistook the cow for the mice?

Apparently, for the Hindus, no sin is bigger than that. It brought about the 1857 mutiny. One still wonders.

One of the new things to this version of Atomic Redhead is the addition of “Sleep & Eat” a section dedicated to the hotels and restaurants we visit. It should be noted that I am by no means a foodie, so these posts are not so much reviews, as they are going to be along similar lines as posts about historic locations, museums, etc., as we strive to find the most unique and historical places to stay and dine at. While I have written about these sort of places before, I am eager to expand upon this subject matter further on the blog, and hope to inspire you to visit these locations! You can find this new section under “Places to Explore.”

Fair Oaks Pharmacy has been serving the citizens of South Pasadena for over 100 years. Yep, this place first opened its doors, known then as South Pasadena Pharmacy, in 1915. And get this, it was originally owned and financed by a woman! Pretty darn neat considering the time period. At some point in the 20s it became Raymond Pharmacy and it is under this name it went from being strictly a pharmacy to also being a soda fountain. In the 1940s it changed its name yet again, but this time for good, and became the Fair Oaks Pharmacy, named after one of the streets it borders.

Fair Oaks Pharmacy reminds me a lot of what Watson’s in Orange used to be like before its god-awful change a couple years back. It’s a mix of old and new, and if you look past the retro metal signs, you’ll the true vintage gems. One of the fantastic things about Fair Oaks is it isn’t afraid of the super old-timey menu items from the past, including true ice cream sodas and phosphates!

We stopped in for lunch and split their classic burger so we could leave plenty of room for dessert, as this place is known well for its desserts, especially its Kitchen Sink Sundae which was featured on Food Network’s show Guilty Pleasures, as one of Duff Goldman’s favorites. You can check it out here.

We ordered the Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae because I can never pass up a dish with a brownie in it, as well as an ice cream soda.

And in case you’re wondering, yes, this place is still a pharmacy! Clearly others are curious too.
