The blog suggests that keeping a diary or journal of sexual activity is good way to see how many calories you can burn.

I think this a fun way to boost up your libido. Sex is an exercise and most people don't realize how much lovemaking can trim your figure.

However, I think besides having sex people should regularly exercise. Exercising on a regular basis can also improve your sex life.

Scientists work on contraceptive treatment for men

Scientists are testing a contraceptive pill that men can take to make them infertile for one day, according to a BBC News article.

Because the pills are not dependent on hormones, researchers suggest that a man's fertility should return the following day.

I think it's wonderful that scientists are coming up with this new development. I think women have to worry about fertility a lot more then men do and I think its great that men can take some responsibility.

Scientists are also studying other methods of contraception for men such as injections, implants and patches.

Though I think it's great that scientists are studying new forms of male contraception, I think it can also be risky.

I wouldn't want my boyfriend to become infertile by trying to prevent from impregnating me.

Scientists definitely need to study the contraceptives thoroughly to insure the safety of the male reproductive system.

Circumcision may prevent HIV

According to a CBS news male circumcision would prevent 3 million deaths over 20 years in Africa.

Circumcising the males would be just as effective as the AIDS vaccine.

The excess skin undoubtedly is a factor in the spread of infections and diseases. I think all men should be circumcised as a necessary precaution.

Africa has the highest rate of HIV infections and the AIDS virus but the study that found this new discovery can benefit Americans and the rest of the world.

Besides, most women I think would prefer to have the excess skin removed. It's a healthier way to have sex!

Man launches fireworks from anus

A 22-year-old man was taken to the hospital after launching a Black Cat Thunderbolt Rocket from his anus, according to a BBC News article.

The prank left the man with internal burns but he is in stable condition.

I don't know what's worse a toothbrush down your throat or a rocket up your ass. This week I have come across some surprisingly unusual stories.

The one thing that I have yet to undertand is why anyone would put a rocket in that area or any area of the body for that matter?

The toothbrush girl has a little bit more understanding then the rocket man. Atleast her heart was in the right place.

Teen swallows toothbrush while trying to practice oral sex

16-year-old Andreea Vlad, of Romania, swallowed a toothbrush while trying to practice oral sex, according to an article in the METRO.CO.UK Web site.

Vlad, swallowed a seven inch toothbrush and had to have emergency surgery. Luckily, she did not suffer any internal damages.

The teenager decided to imitate porn stars she had seen in a film prior to her emergency room visit.

Although, many people would find this incident funny I actually feel pity for the young girl who was trying to teach herself how to perform oral sex on a male.

I think most women at one point in their life have wondered whether or not they are doing the job right. I've never heard of anyone who chose a toothbrush as their preference form of practice but hey to each is own!

Though, I have to say poor Vlad for going through what I imagine was a painful fake performance.

Women who need a little guidance on oral sex should search the net or read books on the art of oral sex.

Lauren Wright talks about masturbation and it's benefits in her column in the Nevada Sagebrush.

Wright said masturbation is a taboo subject that has always seemed inappropriate due to societal and religious stereotypes.

I'm glad that someone finally said that masturbation being inappropriate is a stereotype. I think it is human nature for someone to touch themselves.

Above all I think it is interesting to note that men only do it 20 percent more then women!

I find that most women lie or are embarrassed that they masturbate. It is ridiculous to feel negative about pleasing yourself.

Growing up I felt that there was something mentally wrong with me because I masturbated. Whenever the conversation was brought up among a group of my girlfriends they would say "they didn't do such things" and I would bare my secret alone. For years I felt like I needed help with my "sickness" and now I just wish someone would have told me it was normal.

I was really young when I started to masturbate so I know that it is human nature to do it. I know that it is human nature because when I started I didn't even know much about sex.

I also think Wright brought up a good point when she said that when men masturbate it can be seen as comical and rarely a joke is cracked about women. Why is that?

A recent article in the Australian suggests that people who have sex at least four times a week are more likely to live longer then people who have less sex or no sex at all.

The production of endorphins and other chemicals cause people to look and feel younger.

It makes sense that one of life's greatest gifts is a factor in a human being's life span. There are many people in the world that believe that sex is for procreation only and this article is more proof that sex brings more to the table.

Treating sex like a chore is not the way to live. Sex should be something intimate and something that you can enjoy. So make the best out of it with the next person that you are intimate with for health's sake!

Western countries have more sex

A study showed that people in western countries have more sex though promiscuity did not have more of a role in sexually transmitted infections than poverty and mobility had, according a BBC News article.

There is no universal trend in teenagers having sex early. The study also found that sexual activity began for most men and women between 15 and 19 years of age, with men tending to start earlier.

I can't help but wonder if people should still be promiscuous. With so many diseases out in the world, is having multiple partners worth the risk of contracting some kind of infection?

I think people should watch their number of sexual partners. Although, you should be careful don't super glue your zippers either.

People should explore their sexuality in a healthy and safe way.

The fact that the study showed that teenagers are having sex around the same age proves that it is human nature to have sex.

People can't help their needs but one should always fufill those needs with caution.
Condoms are always a good way to go if you can't resist temptation.

It is interesting that this rare condition exists because at one point or another most people have dreamt of sex.

If you sleep alone how would you know if you have the condition?

I guess the only way to find out whether you are a "Sexsomniac" is if you sleep with someone else in your bed.

If you haven't had anyone in your bed for a while, you might have the condition and you don't even know it.

Director uses real sex in the film "Shortbus"

Shortbus, a film that took nearly three years to make because of its sexual content, may have audiences at the edge of their seats because the actors aren't necessarily faking their orgasms.

In an article in the Miami Herald, the cast members speak out about how they adjusted and became comfortable with each other.

This film is a great way to document what real sex and intimacy is about without the pornographic raunchy feel. I found it interesting that one of the cast members speaks about his strong catholic background and how sex in his household was never talked about and used for procreation only. What a fabulous way to open closed-minds!

I am looking forward to the release of the film locally in the Hippodrome State Theatre Nov. 3-16.

Police officer suspended because of myspace

A police officer was suspended last week because of his graphic Web page on Myspace.com, according to a recent blog.

Jeremiah Love, 26, included pictures of dismembered women on his Web page and under his occupation he listed "super hero/serial killer."

The Web page contained sexual content including a woman with the word "loath" carved into her flesh.

The Web page, which has been removed from MySpace.com, was also listed under the name Leatherface.

I wouldn't want Love to "serve and protect" fellow citizens and myself after viewing his
Web page.

Although, Love said he made the page as a joke I think I would still be skeptical about him and would not feel comfortable knowing that he's a law enforcement officer.

This issue raises important questions. Do we want employers looking at our personal Web sites???Is it a safety precaution or is it invading privacy???Although the Web sites are open to the public should employers use the Web sites as basis for employment??

Homosexuality among animals

The Oslo Museum of Natural History concluded that homosexuality among humans is not "unnatural" as a result of observing homosexuality in over 1,500 animal species, according to a Yahoo News article.

There are people who are close-minded about homosexuality. Lately, it seems same-sex marriage is a debate that each state has been battling. Take a look at this USA Today news article, which entails gay rights activists trying impose same-sex marriage back on the ballots.

What people do in their bedroom is their business. If gay couples want to get married then I believe they should. With a strong Catholic background, one might think I would be opposed to same-sex marriage. However, given that we live in a country with so many privileges and freedoms, same-sex marriage should be allowed.

Call me crazy but everyday my life is filled with stress because of certain responsibilities and obligations that I have. I don't really have the time nor the energy to worry about other people's lives and what decisions they make. I think America spends too much time worrying about issues that aren't a big deal. If only people would be as passionate about the war as they are about same-sex marriage.

The HBO hit show "Sex and the City" still reaches a wide audience, even though the show stopped airing in 2004, according to a Chicago Sun-Times article.

Many women can't get enough of watching the show that celebrates four women in their 30s and 40s living the single life in New York City.

Although, many women are instantly hooked, I think men enjoy this show just as much as women do. I think anyone can relate to or understand the realistic situations that this show re-enacts.

It is without a doubt one of the best shows that I have ever had the pleasure of viewing on television.

If you haven't watched a single episode yet, I recommend to catch one on TBS or buy the DVD collection a.s.a.p.

A recent study in Canada by McGill University found that women become sexually aroused as quickly as men, according to a Science Daily news article.

Researchers found that both genders showed signs of arousal within the first 30 seconds of watching a sexually explicit film.

Finally, proof that women are not much different in the bedroom then men are. From interviewing several anonymous female sources, I found that most women are embarrassed about their sexuality. Surprisingly, these women between the ages of 19-47 believe that enjoying sex too much is wrong.

I think it's ludicrous to think that women do not have as much needs as men do. Clearly, scientific evidence shows otherwise. I'm exhilarated that someone finally took charge and proved it.

Routine HIV tests recommended for Americans

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta said people between the ages of 13 and 64 should be tested for HIV like a routine cholesterol check, according to a CBS news article.

The spread of HIV is a problem that most people choose to ignore. Some people may have the virus and may be totally unaware that they do. I think that in today's society most people started or will start their sex lives at an early age. Take a look at this article by the Taipei Times, one of Asia's newspapers.

Clearly, teen sex is something that is occurring globally. With sex starting at a young age for most people, I think it is imperative that everyone get tested.

As I have mentioned before, casual sex in Gainesville is common amongst college students and knowing that should encourage everyone to make the effort to check. With so much bar hopping these days you don't know who has what.

The girlfriends of gang members in one of Colombia's most violent cities have called off a sex strike aimed at ending a deadly gang feud, according to an article from the BBC news on Friday.

The women started the strike 10 days before and vowed not sleep with their boyfriends until they agreed to stop fighting. The women decided to start the "cross-legged strike" because of all the murders that occur in the city of Pereira.

Women withholding sex for social or political reasons is not a new thing. This has been done in history to solve many problems. I think that the power of sex is obvious in this article. The women must be pretty desperate to see results if they have vowed not sleep with their boyfriends. It seems to me that not sleeping with a man will always get a girl what she wants. Whether the subject is a protest to end gang fighting or whether it's as simple as getting him to be in a relationship with you, sex is the determining factor. I think that this is a little disturbing and at the same time funny. Why do men put sex on such a high pedestal?

Casual sex in Gainesville is more prevalent than in New York, argues Shem Fleenor in an Independent Florida Alligator article. Fleenor suggests that most sorority girls confuse reality with HBO's hit show "Sex and the City." The lack of monogamy in Gainesville is disturbing. I think in college it is pretty much rare or nearly impossible to settle down with someone because of all the alcohol and drugs that so many of our dearest gators associate themselves with. I'm sure many college students both men and women would rather be monogamous but the reality is that the "college life" makes it difficult to happen. Time and time again I see plenty of women going home with men they barely know after a night of drinking at a local bar. Fleenor also concentrates on sorority girls in his article but he fails to mention fraternity guys. Most fraternity guys make it their sole mission to sleep with as many women as possible while attending this great university of ours. I believe having a girlfriend is not in fraternity guy's vocabulary or generally for most men in college.

Minister preaches about sex

Minister Joe Beam preaches to Christians about the importance of having good sex while being married, according to an article published Saturday. About 100 evangelical Christian couples attended Beam's seminar titled "Love, Sex and Marriage."
Religion and sex have never been able to coexist together without being dubbed taboo. I think it is a great idea to incorporate something that most people enjoy (sex) with something that structures people's lives (religion). It doesn't matter what religion you believe in or associate yourself with, reading this article enlightens one's perception about the importance of sex in a marriage. Beam speaks to his followers and tells them that by not being ashamed of sex with your spouse and actually enjoying it they are following the bible. There are a a lot of people, especially women, that think the purpose of sex is solely for procreation. The idea that one man is telling people that sex saves marriages and that God wants you have sex is fabulous.
Although, Beam is a bit more liberal then the average Christian minister he still preaches that Christians must follow biblical teachings. He emphasizes the importance of "what not to do" when it comes to sex. Topics he discusses are adultery, group sex, sex with animals and so forth.
As a devoted Catholic, I think that Beam has brought something to society that is needed and hopefully will change society for the better. With the divorce rate in this country being 50 percent, the acceptance of having amazing sex with your spouse is vital.

In a recent article inside Men's Health Magazine, writer Stephanie Williams addresses the issue of what women do before selecting the men they want to date. She sub-categorizes the way women choose their partners by physical appearance in 12 ways.
This article is suppose to help men get some kind of an idea on "what women want."
Although, Williams' article had strong examples of what women look for in men, I would have to disagree with a couple of things.
First of all, as a women when I am trying to decide whether or not to date someone I do not look at what they are carrying.
Williams advises in depth about how important it is for man to carry a book or newspaper around so they seem intellectual.
It is ridiculous to judge a person based on literary works.
Williams also claimed that women like men with big eyes and that women can tell how clever men are just by looking at them. She also explained what other traits women see in men just by their eyes.
This is not true.
Overall, I thought Williams' advice was insightful despite a few flaws. One of the biggest flaws in the article is that her message to men seems to be that women check out men based on material.

A message to men:

Men.... Not all women need money to be a factor in a relationship but the reality is that a lot of women do need it.

The differences between men and women

The behavioral differences between women and men is determined by the way both gender's brains work, argues a Neuro-psychiatrist Louann Brizendine in a Newsweek article.
Brizendine believes that women's decisions are based on their hormones and that men lack the ability to be as emotional as a woman.
She also argues, that women have 11 percent more neurons in the area of the brain devoted to emotions and memory. Because they have more "mirror neurons" they are also better at observing emotions in others, she says.
Although there are a couple of sources that disagree with Brizendine, I think she may be on to something.
As a long time feminist (not the gross kind that don't shave their armpits), one might think that I would be outraged at Brizendine's theory. However, as a women I feel that my hormones do take control over me sometimes (and not just during that time of the month).
An example is when I'm watching television, I get more emotional towards something on the tube then one of my male friends. Sometimes, I even may shed a tear over a heart-felt commercial. I ask myself, why am I crying???? It's not even that sad.

I think Brizendine may be right and it could be my hormones. Who knows? Maybe I'm just a big Sap?

However, I do know that when a woman and a man end a relationship, most of the time it takes a woman longer to get over the relationship. Why??? Because women spent most of the time reminiscing about the relationship and men just move forward. I find that men for the most part, don't think about the good times but rather look forward to fresh meat. It takes time for a woman to heal emotionally and men just brush it off. Just like baseball, they shake it off and move to the next base. In this case, the base is another woman. Why does this happen?

In all honesty, it kind of pisses me off that women stay in a state of misery for a while and men just GET OVER IT!!!

I wish that sometimes I could just GET OVER IT.

I think most women feel this way and I believe that hormones may be a conflicting possibility.

If Brizendine's theory is wrong, well I don't think anyone would lose out on at least checking out her book.
