Signs for the Haus and Business Stops

My boyfriend and I are volunteering to organize this year's Monster Bash and it looks to be a great time! The event is the German Village Society's third largest yearly fundraiser, and involves a Trick-or-Treat segment for adults to visit predetermined stops around the village that will be handing out cocktails and other goodies, followed by a dance party at the German Village Meeting Haus. There will be music, food, drinks, costume contests, oh my! And it's all included in the ticket price. So if you don't have anything to do on October 20th from 8:00 p.m. till midnight (and even if you do), like the event on Facebook and make sure to go to our Eventbrite Page to purchase your tickets. Only about 300 will be sold, so don't miss out!

Oh Baby, Oh Baby!

2012-05-01T18:05:00.002-07:00

Just recently, I had the honor of designing a baby shower invitation. Which is always exciting, but even better when it's for your sister-in-law! I can hardly wait for this little guy to be born. If I know my brother, I'm sure this baby is going to be quite the little hell raiser!

Have your 'cupcake' and eat it too!

Simple White Cupcake
Ingredients
2 cups white sugar
1 cup butter
4 eggs
1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon and 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup milk

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a muffin pan with paper liners. In a medium bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine flour and baking powder, add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Finally stir in the milk until batter is smooth. Pour or spoon batter into the prepared pan. Bake cupcakes for 15 to 20 minutes. Cake is done when it springs back to the touch.

Cream Cheese Frosting
Ingredients
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions
In a medium bowl, cream together the cream cheese and butter until creamy. Mix in the vanilla, then gradually stir in the confectioners' sugar. Store in the refrigerator after use.

I added a little red food coloring to the frosting to make it a light pink and topped it off with sugar pearls! Enjoy!

December 3rd, 2011...

2011-12-15T07:44:00.000-08:00

was one busy busy day!

First I went to the CCAD Holiday Art Sale with Kate Linkhorn and Rachel Dangerfield. Soooo many great artists/designers. Here's a few of my favorites:

Kat Firor - The Simple Siren

Corey Ann Carlton

Katherine Elizabeth Adkins

After the sale, we ventured to Urban Outfitters...

Which P.S. they have SOOO many great gifty finds for the holidays!

Nothing new here--Kate, Rach and I then got pretty hungry. That's when Phat Wraps came in...

Then I went to the Royal Factory Fashion Show at the Garden Theatre with Chelsie Burkhart. It was so inspiring and tons of fun to see my co-workers' work that runway!

FREE 'sponsorship' support!

2011-11-21T09:13:00.000-08:00

I'm currently 'inspired' by Eternal Optimist's recent post:

As many of you probably know, I'm obsessed with reading blogs by both new and "old" bloggers. I love drawing inspiration from other peoples' fashion sense, DIYs, and just overall random blurbs. After I started blogging, I realized just how many blogs there are out there. Since one of my favorite things to do is discovering new blogs, I've decided to try something. I wanted to create a space to support other blogs/bloggers.
"So what does it all mean Basil?" *
Well, I wanted to offer up my sidebar up for FREE ~~sponsorship~~ support. Just create a button for your blog and send it to me (let me know if you need help with this). So what's the catch? Nothing really, the only thing I ask is that you support my blog in return by placing my button on your page.

& I personally couldn't have said it any better! So here's the dealio: You support me. I'll support you! Just grab the button below and start supporting, then e-mail me your button and I'll, in return, support you. How great is that?!

Don't worry! The button will be really 150X150 pixels!

sexy little script

2011-10-20T11:41:00.000-07:00

Well, it all began about 7 months ago... I was asked by my creative director to create a font for Victoria's Secret. This was truly a labor of love (most days). I didn't realize how hard it could be to generate a script font until now. I definitely couldn't have done it without the tremendous help of Erin Masur's pretty handwriting and Kelli Robinson's wonderful support. The best part about this font is how easily accessible the brand's graphics can be via the glyphs. We can continuously add new elements to the font for each new campaign, which is pretty nice too. No more chasing down people for files, hurray! My personal favorite is the supermodel signatures and kisses. Those are all real! Enjoy, xxoo!

Vivian Maier

She hadn't even seen all her work... that's what baffles me. Her photography is breathtaking!

She was like Mary Poppins to the children she watched-- eccentric,

delightful, taking them on great adventures.

John Maloof, great find & thank you for showing the world her work.
