SEPANG: National Sports Institute (NSI) chief executive officer Datuk Dr Ramlan Aziz believes world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei’s ankle injury may not be as serious as it seems.

He, however, admitted that they will have to conduct further scans to be sure.

Chong Wei injured his ankle on Tuesday four minutes into his Thomas Cup tie against Denmark’s Peter-Gade Christensen, forcing him to withdraw from the tournament.

“I’ve received the MRI scan which Chong Wei did in China and it will take a day or two to study it before we know how severe his injury is,” said Dr Ramlan.

“We’ll also need to do further scans to get a clearer picture of the injury and give him the proper treatment.

“Hopefully, there will be no need for surgery.

“All I can say now is that it’s correct that he’ll probably need to rest for three to four weeks.”

Chong Wei arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 6.45pm yesterday and struggled to hold back his emotions once again as he fielded questions by the media.

Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said Chong Wei will need a miracle to recover from his injury and be fit in time for the London Olympics in July.

“We’re all very sad that Chong Wei has suffered an injury that will hamper his Olympic preparation,” said Shabery.

“We don’t know how long he’ll need to recover and it’ll probably be a miracle if he does make it in time.

“He’ll have the best treatment possible and, most importantly, there is no pressure on him to recover fast.”

Chong Wei is down, but puts on brave front

KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 1 Lee Chong Wei is back home, promising to bounce back stronger after his injury setback.

Yesterday, Chong Wei was still raw with emotion and continued to shed tears over the torn tendon in his right ankle, which has put his long-cherished dream of Olympic glory in jeopardy.

When Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) president Datuk Seri Nadzmi Mohd Salleh told him not to lose heart despite the enforced layoff which will shorten his preparations for the London Games, tears rolled down Chong Wei’s cheek.

His sole focus over the last four years has been on winning the elusive gold at the Olympics.

When he regained his composure, Chong Wei said he would emerge stronger from this painful experience.

“It’s still quite painful,” said Chong Wei, pointing to his strapped ankle while seated in a wheelchair.

“I’m really sad that I couldn’t help the team against Denmark,” he said.

Malaysia lost 2-3 after Chong Wei limped off in the first singles.

“One has to be mentally stronger when experiencing an injury like this. I know that I will have to come out of this stronger mentally as I may lose several weeks of training,” he said.

On the gravity of his injury, Chong Wei said: “I will be meeting Dr Ramlan Aziz (director-general of the National Sports Insitute) and he will look at it again.”

Chong Wei will have another Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) screening soon.

The first MRI at a hospital in Wuhan on Tuesday showed a tendon tear that would take three to four weeks to heal.

Coach Tey Seu Bock has already laid out a plan to get Chong Wei back on his feet before the London Games.

“We will wait for Dr Ramlan’s assessment on Chong Wei’s condition. We will give him enough rest. We will start training once he can walk without putting any pressure on his injured ankle,” he said.

“We will begin with upper body exercises, but rather than focusing too much on his physical condition, I will pay more attention to reviving his confidence.

“It isn’t easy for an athlete to be back quickly after such an injury. It takes a strong mind and heart. I hope to have a good six weeks with Chong Wei before the Olympics. I think that will be enough to bring him back as a strong contender at the Games.

“I’m confident that Chong Wei’s dedication and determination will see him through,” he added.

The Olympic badminton competition will begin on July 28.

WORLD No. 1 Lee Chong Wei’s Olympic dream suffered a severe blow when he tore a tendon on his ankle during a Thomas Cup Group C tie against Denmark at the Wuhan Sports Gymnasium Centre yesterday.

The pain was excruciating and the shuttler wept unabashedly.

But it was the “pain” of not being able to help his Thomas Cup team-mates – and the possibility of not being at his best for the Olympics – that proved even more intolerable.

The 29-year-old is now expected to be out for three to four weeks, thus affecting his preparations for the London Games, which will be held from July 27-Aug 12.

Chong Wei, the Beijing Olympics silver medallist, is seen as the strongest rival for defending champion Lin Dan of China.

In the group tie of the Finals, Chong Wei began as the heavy favourite against veteran Peter-Gade Christensen in the first singles event.

But, just four minutes into the game, Chong Wei screamed in pain after landing awkwardly while retrieving a shot at the baseline. The Malaysian clutched his right ankle and grimaced in pain.

The medical team rushed to help, after quite some time, but it was in vain. Chong Wei later got up, limped over towards Christensen, shook hands with the Dane and called it quits.

About an hour later, Chong Wei was later taken to a hospital, accompanied by coach Tey Seu Bock.

A Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) was done and it confirmed that Chong Wei has suffered a tear on his tendon.

“The doctor said that it would take three to four weeks for the injury to heal. We are making arrangements to send Chong Wei home,” said Seu Bock.

“We will conduct another MRI back home and get a second opinion on the seriousness of his injury.”

Seu Bock, however, was glad that the injury is not as bad as the one suffered by former international Wong Choong Hann at the 2006 Thomas Cup Finals.

Choong Hann was then the team skipper when he ruptured his Achilles heel during the second singles match against Park Sung-hwan in a quarter-final tie against South Korea. The injury ruled Choong Hann out for six months.

“When I saw Chong Wei on the floor, I immediately thought about Choong Hann. I was there when Choong Hann got hurt. The first thing I checked was to see whether Chong Wei could move his toes. I was relieved when he could,” he said.

Then, Malaysia went on to beat South Korea to reach the semi-finals.

But yesterday, Chong Wei’s defeat saw Malaysia losing 2-3 to Denmark.

Seu Bock said that Chong Wei was very sad and down-hearted and kept asking why it had happened to him during his short stay at the hospital.

“He felt bad that he could not contribute a point for the team. He was also worried about the Olympic Games and wondered why it had happened so close to the Games. He is emotionally down,” he said.

“All he needs right now is some good rest and a time to recover from this setback. We still have time before the Olympic Games and we can help him to regain his confidence.”

Ferrari 599 GTO Crashes into Taxi and Motorcycle, Claiming Three Lives @ Bugis, Singapore

Ferrari 599 GTO crashed a Taxi causing 3 dead, 2 injured in Bugis S’pore – 12May2012

A rare Ferrari 599 GTO, where only 599 units of such specimen is available worldwide was caught in a horrible accident involving a taxi and a motorcycle in Singapore. The aftermath of the crash has resulted in the deaths of three persons at the wee hours of last Saturday, taking place at the junction of Rochor Road and Victoria Street at 4.15 am. Reports are saying that the spot is known for being an accident-prone area.

The driver of the fastest road-legal Ferrari, a 31-year-old Chinese businessman was already killed when the paramedics reached him. 52-year-old taxi driver Cheng Teck Hock, also a father of three school-going children and his 20-year-old Japanese passenger meanwhile succumbed to their injuries and died later on at the hospital. The motorcyclist and the Ferrari’s passenger however were lucky enough to survive the crash.

Although police are still in the process of investigating the accident, a camera mounted in another taxi caught the footage of the accident, and almost got caught in it by a hair’s breadth. In the footage, it clearly shows that the Ferrari was travelling in high speeds and ran over a red light, hitting the taxi and barely misses the one recording it.

The force of the crash was so violent that it had totally turned the left side of the taxi and the Ferrari’s front side into an unrecognizable wreck. Debris of both the cars and the motorcycle were scattered all over the road, along with what it seems like an engine, most probably from the Ferrari.

OMG! RM800k just for bidding a car number plate? WWW1 is that so special? I got my number plate 2 years with only RM350 if I remember correctly. In 2009 there’s an announcement that there’s personalized car number plate soon, but till now still not implemented??

Someone spotted this car with the car number plate WTF 1 “What The F*ck?” Haha. Interesting number plate to get.

Check out this WTF 1 Car Plate Number at a Nnissan Skyline GTR according to Zerotohundred forum, it’s worth RM86k for that number plate!

Another interesting Plate will be PEN 15 = PENIS or TAH 1 = TAHI or WVO 15 in a VIOS car! You can check the current running number in JPJ Web Portal.

There’s actually a few procedure to get good number but the cheap way or the backdoor way!

Tips on how to get your own Car Registration Plate Number

1) Don’t need to get any runner to settle the number for you but DO-IT-YOURSELF (DIY)!

2) Select at least 10 combinations of numbers that you are looking for because if you just have 1 number of your choice it would be most probably not available and you need to waste your time to choose again.

3) Check on the bidding board that those number are not in the bidding list so you will have your higher chances of getting the number you want!

4) Wear formal wear or smart casual but no shorts (wore short and they will not entertain you) and head to the “pengarah office” (find your way there and the office is right behind) tell them you want this number and they will be able to check for you. Let’s say the current the running letter is WWT, you could actually start placing your order for WWU as long as those numbers are not in the biddding list.

5) Alternative you could buy those older number that was in the bidding list but the owner didn’t take the number you have chances to get those nice number with cheaper price too!

6) Pay money and get your slip and done!

Mad last-minute rush to bid for WWW plates

KUALA LUMPUR: Some pleaded, others cajoled the Road Transport Department (JPJ) employees in a bid to have their very last-minute applications for the “WWW” registration numbers accepted.

Despite having two weeks to submit their bids, many still waited until the last day and rushed to JPJ branches yesterday to submit their bids.

Some pleaded with JPJ officers to accept their bids after the bidding closed at noon yesterday.

At the Wangsa Maju branch, many had started to queue up at the entrance even before it opened at 7.45am.

“I took the day off from work to be here,” said marketing executive Tan Sie Yie, 40, who placed bids for three numbers.

Tan said she was bidding for the “WWW” prefix as she believed it would bring prosperity and good luck.

She said one of her bids was for RM3,000 but declined to reveal the other two.

Kuala Lumpur JPJ director Mohd Nadzri Osman said they had prepared for the final rush by allowing bidders for “WWW” to go straight to the three dedicated counters without having to take numbers.

By 10am, the three counters had been increased to five.

Businessman Khairul Azuad, 34, said he decided to bid as it was a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity.

“It is a very attractive number so I am just going to try my luck,” he said, adding that he had been at the office by 8am as he had anticipated the rush.

When asked why he waited until the last day, he said: “I guess I’m a typical Malaysian.”

Just two minutes before the deadline, a man was seen rushing to the counter with 10 envelopes.

JPJ officers scrambled to register the bids, managing to accept four of the 10 bids before noon.

Mohd Nadzri had earlier predicted that the “WWW” series could attract a bid as high as RM500,000.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha had said that “WWW” received the highest number of bids ever recorded by the JPJ, far surpassing the previous record – for “WVW” at 4,750 bids.

The “WWW” series is popular because the surname Wong or Wang rhymes with “prosperity” and “emperor” in Chinese.

The results will be announced on May 24.

Even though media was earlier than Andy to announce the arrival of Little Dragon Girl on May 9, & many artistes have continuously sent him congratulatory messages, Andy is yet to announce it formally to all, this really makes everyone anxious, how come Andy is not willing to share the good news?

Accordingly, Andy is thinking if he should be open with the picture of his daughter, to share it with his fans, but he has to respect the wish of his wife. He is thus waiting till everything is more settled before he made the announcement.

Yesterday his parents as usual went for morning tea, they wore big smiles on their faces, as sweet as lotus paste, indeed the sweetness is deep down to the heart!

The media all gathered at the hosp as soon as the news was out, but there was no sight of Andy or his relatives/friends, esp his 5 Tigers buddies. It seems that his friends understand his character, know that he is going all out to protect his wife & daughter, they will not send congratulations early.

Accordingly, Carol Chu stays in the private maternity ward on the 8th floor, there are bodyguards on 24 hour duty, this is to prevent the baby from being photographed.

These 2 days Andy is too busy taking care of the mother & baby, though he stresses ‘family matter to be told in the family’, to share with his fans whom he takes as his family members, but until today there is no any movement.

Though the fans are anxious, they understand Boss is busy, they have to wait patiently. Some fans think that Andy may even wait till AWC 24th anniversary on June 9 for him to share the good news, if he were to announce when the baby is one month old, everyone will be waiting till their necks are long!

At the age of 50, Andy has become a father! His 46 year-old wife Carol Chu has given birth to Small Dragon Girl, after checking to a hospital 2 nights ago. The newborn was rumored to be 6 over pounds. Both mother & child are healthy. iAndy who becomes a father is elated & very excited, he takes full care of his wife $ daughter, & has tight security to prevent the exposure of his precious girl & unnecessary disturbance.

When news broke out yesterday afternoon, a large group of media rushed to Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital ( one of the famous p rivate hosp in HK) . Andy was however not spotted at all. Until late last night before stop press he is yet to confirm the good news. Fans & friends in the circle have all left congratulatory words, all feel happy for Andy on becoming a father!

Andy’s wish of becoming a father came true last year, his wife Carol Chu was successfully pregnant after artificial insemination. On Nov 28 last year after being conferred Best Actor at Golden Horse, he announced the good news. Andy who loves his wife dearly gives his wife full day attention, he employed body guards to accompany her around, buy luxurious house & car, stopped work in total recently, it was also rumored that he donated 10 million to build a temple, for blessings of his wife & baby.

News have it that 2 nights ago he accompanied his wife to be admitted to the hospital, & he was in the delivery suit to witness to precious moment of arrival. The baby weighs 6 over lbs, Andy was very busy in the delivery suit taking care of his wife & new born, probably because of this he has no time to leave words in his official website to inform his fans about the good news. Also, if the news was leaked out too fast, it may mess up his plan to release the news when after his wife is discharged from the hospital.

To prevent his wife & BB from being photographed, he has security guards to keep guard 24 hours outside the suit & BB’s room, m aking sure they are not disturbed at all.

It was said Carol Cheng announced news of Andy becoming a father yesterday in her radio programme, but she denied.

Friends in the circle left congratulatory words in their blogs, Ada Choi exclaimed, ‘Too good ! Idol has given birth to a girl, best wishes to the family, the baby girl be healthy, wife has speedy recovery!”

Woman abusing toddler riles up FB users

PETALING JAYA: The brutal act of a woman beating a toddler that was caught on video has riled up Facebook users, about a year after the abuse took place.

The woman, who appears to be in her 20s, is seen abusing the child in the four-minute video clip by slapping and beating the baby with a pillow numerous times.

She can also be seen pinching the baby’s arms and legs and can be heard telling the baby, “diamlah bodoh (keep quiet, stupid)” as the baby continued crying.

About two minutes into the video, the young woman kicks the baby several times, while the woman taking the video asks if she intended to kill the baby.

The video titled Ibu Kejam was uploaded onto the Himpunan Cerita Lawak Facebook page at around 1pm yesterday and alleged that the abuse took place in Sepang.

According to some blogs, this is the second time the video is being circulated.

Hundreds of comments were immediately posted by Facebook users.

Some Facebook users commented that the woman should be severely punished for her action.

Meanwhile, a post uploaded on the Royal Malaysia Police official Facebook page stated that a police report on the abuse was lodged on May 29 last year.

“The woman in the video is the toddler’s birth mother and was arrested on the day the police report was lodged,” the statement added.

It also stated that the woman was subsequently charged in court and found guilty under Section 3(1) of The Child Act 2001.

The woman is currently serving an 18-month jail term for the offence.

Updates, Nayati Moodliar is back home!

We are delighted to tell you that Nayati is back home with us and although it has obviously been a very traumatic time for him he appears at this stage to be in good shape. We cannot begin to say how proud we are of him and the way that he has coped with the events of the past week.

We have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from all our friends here in Kuala Lumpur and all over the world. We are unable to find the words to express our gratitude but we will never forget what they did for us.

Even more surprising, because it was so unexpected, has been the support of people whom we have never met – and are never likely to meet – in countries as far away as Zambia and the USA, who have offered their time, skills and, in many cases, money, without any expectation of any form of compensation. We are so grateful for their help.

We also appreciate very much the tremendous practical and moral support we have received from the Netherlands Embassy and in particular the Ambassador, Mr Paul Bekkers. With his help we were able to surmount some “interesting” technical problems.

Finally we would like to express our gratitude to the Government of Malaysia, specifically the Royal Malaysian Police. Their number one priority from the start has been the safe return of Nayati and they have been most careful not to do anything that might have jeopardised his safety. We have enjoyed and will continue to enjoy our stay in this wonderful country.

PETALING JAYA: As the search for Nayati Shamelin Moodliar continues, many Malaysians took to social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook to convey their heartfelt prayers to the Moodliar family.

Nayati, 12, was abducted on his way to school early Friday morning. There has been no news on his whereabouts so far.

After a dedicated Facebook page was set up on Saturday, more than 8,000 people have “liked” the page while close to a hundred posted messages to offer their assistance and words of comfort.

Shazila Ghazi, who lives in the same area as the Moodliars, posted: “Please let me know if I can help in any way at all … just inbox me. I sincerely hope that he’ll return soon. Have faith.”

Spreading the word: Friends of Nayati’s family helping to distribute flyers to motorists near the Mont’ Kiara International School yesterday.

Ritu Jain from Kuala Lumpur posted, “Nayati, you continue to

be on our minds and in our pra-yers. I hope all the collective good wishes are keeping you strong and safe”.

On Twitter, netizens worldwide used hashtags #FindNayatiMoodliar, #prayfornayati and #Nayati to spread the message and keep Nayati in their prayers.

Many posted links to the Facebook page and urged others to join them in praying for Nayati’s safe return.

Others posted the numbers to call should anyone have information about Nayati’s whereabouts.

Meanwhile, posters with Nayati’s picture have been pasted everywhere around the Klang Valley, including at bus-stops, LRT sta-tions, toll booths and on lamp posts.

While the Moodliar family has expressed gratitude for the “Please help us to find Nayati Moodliar” Facebook page, they also urged the public not to speculate or spread rumours as “it can hinder Nayati’s return”.

“If there are any major developments we will let you know. Until then, please keep Nayati in your thoughts and prayers,” read one of the latest posts on the page.

Meanwhile, police have refused to comment on the case as they do not want to jeopardise investigations.

Police are concerned that media scrutiny could affect their efforts to locate the boy.

However, police posted an alert on their Facebook page on Friday to urge people who had information about the case to call the Jalan Travers police station at 03-2282-4222 or ASP Erwansyah at 019-384-9480.

Family appeal for Dutch boy kidnapped in Malaysia

The kidnapping of a Dutch boy in Malaysia has triggered a media campaign by his parents and the Prime Minister appealing for his safe return, as police Monday continue their investigation.

Twelve-year-old Nayati Moodliar on Friday was walking to his Mont Kiara International School located in a posh suburb near the capital Kuala Lumpur when he was kidnapped by two men who bundled him into a car.

“He is our only son… we need him back. We don’t want any trouble. We just want our son back. It’s not too late to let him go,” father Sham Moodlia, 41, a Dutch management company employee, said in an emotional video on YouTube.

Family and friends of the boy, who has dual Dutch and South African nationality, have also used Facebook and Twitter in a bid to secure his return.

“He’s got his whole future ahead of him. He never meant any harm to anyone. We’re not rich people. Please give our son back,” the father said, who has also distributed multi-lingual posters of Nayati in a bid to locate the boy.

The kidnapping has also drawn the attention of Prime Minister Najib Razak, who used Twitter to make his plea: “I appeal as a father for Nayati not to be harmed in any way.”

Najib also tweeted he had instructed police chief Ismail Omar to investigate the incident.

Local police chief Wan Abdul Bari told AFP that police were taking the incident very seriously.

“I can confirm we have received a report (of the kidnapping). Investigations is still on. We view such incidents very seriously,” he said.

Sudah Bersih! I’m glad that we all Malaysians from all walks of life, culture, religion, race and believe walked hand in hand united as one for a common cause, a common believe for Bersih 3.0, be it from a kid to a old man or old ladies.

We made it and Bersih 3.0 is a great success I would say and all the objective were met. It’s my virgin rally and my 1st time to taste the tear gas and really feel the heart & sould and support from all the Malaysians @ Dataran Merdeka! I would say it’s really a strong crowds and all is for the better Malaysia! This was a really great experience and I’m glad that I joined in this rally and proud to be Malaysian.

All the Bersih 3.0 t-shirt was sold out so was force to do our own customized Bersih 3.0 t-shirt out of creativity.

12.30pm – Met up with friends and wanted to park the car at Taman Paramount LRT station but was full and forced to park at home and walk to the station. Station was clear and not much ppl there.

3.00pm – Bersih announced success and disperse, “Sudah Bersih!”

3.10pm – Tear Gas was fired near Masjid Jamek LRT station?! It was announced success and people started to moved out but suddenly Tear Gas was shot at the Bersih 3.0 participants!

Tear gas was then release and water cannon was shot to the crowd when someone break the barricade at Dataran Merdeka? It was mentioned that those who break in the barricade were not Bersih 3.0 participants but merely some people to buat Kacau?

All the participants of the Bersih 3.0 rally started to run and trying to hide and move away.

Saw kids crying… saw people faints… people was fed-up and annoyed why Tear Gas was shot!

Was lucky enough to saw a bus and ride in to Mid Valley and took Taxi home.

It was such an experience and dead tiring but it’s all worth while for the priceless experience in hand with all Malaysians to fight for a better Malaysia!

1st time experience Tear Gas and seriously no joke, it will cause you eyes and mouth discomfort and difficult to breath but luckily was well prepared with mask, water and salt so we survived! Next time must remember to bring goggle as well! It’s good to protect the eyes.

Was running and escaping for the Tear Gas and was lucky that there’s a bus and we manage to escape to Mid Valley.

Took cab from Mid Valley home and glad that I’m still in one piece.

This is said to be very powerful tear gas compared to 709′s.

Is this the phone or signal jammer that causing most of the phone not reachable and can’t access to internet during Bersih 3.0? Personally I can’t access the internet and very difficult to call out or receive call. Could this be the device to cause the interference that affect all the telco signals? Hmmm…

Ambiga: We can’t control what politicians say

KUALA LUMPUR: Election watchdog Bersih 3.0 has no control over what politicians say at its public events, its co-chairman S Ambiga said.

“We did not know that they [opposition] leaders were going to speak. Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim came up and spoke to the crowd. There were groups in the crowd which wanted to hear the opposition leaders speak.

“I cannot control what they say,” she said amidst reports that opposition leaders had incited the crowd to breach the barriers at Dataran Merdeka during the Bersih 3.0 rally yesterday.

She added that the plan for the gathering did not allow for politicians to speak.

In fact, she said that had Bersih known that politicians were going to deliver speeches, it would not allow them to do so.

“We wouldn’t have allowed them to speak,” she told a press conference today.

Yesterday, the peaceful assembly of about 80,000 people turned violent at about round 3pm when a few protesters broke through the barriers at Dataran Merdeka, which was sealed off.

The “attack” on the barricades prompted the police to fire tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowd.

The clash between the police and the protesters lasted for about four hours.

No political speeches

There were many news reports which singled out PKR deputy president Azmin Ali and Anwar for inciting the crowd to breach the barrier.

Azmin reportedly told the crowd to reclaim Dataran which “did not belong to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL)”.

Bersih steering committee member, Maria Chin Abdullah, who also present, said the event was to feature only speeches from Ambiga, co-chairman A Samad Said and songs.

“Before April 28, all the NGOs agreed to exclude any political speeches by political leaders… that was also agreed upon by the political parties,” she said.

Ambiga said that she could not comment on Azmin’s actions as she did not witness it in person and asked for it to be investigated.

“But Anwar [when he was on the truck with Ambiga] did not order the crowd to charge,” she said.

She added that Bersih had the last word, and which was to ask the crowd to disperse.

“Let me tell you what happened: I was on the truck and we told the crowd to disperse. We were moving into Jalan Tun Perak to tell the crowd to disperse in stages.

“Then someone charged [at the barriers]; it had nothing to do with us; we want to know as well.

“In fact, it is against what Bersih had announced,” she added.

‘Work of agent provocateurs’

Ambiga said that this could have been the work of agent provocateurs and called for a full inquiry by Suhakam into the whole protest.

Ambiga said the crowd was under control until the tear gas was fired.

“What I saw from the truck was amazing: people were gathered peacefully.

“All purported acts of violence took place only after the tear gas was fired; until then we have complete control,” she said, giving credit to PAS Unit Amal which provided most of the security for the day.

She said that such large crowds can be controlled as can be seen during Thaipusam and Wesak Day celebrations.

Ambiga also asked why the train stations were shut during the protest when police were dispersing the crowd after 3pm.

“These people wanted to leave but couldn’t. Who gave (RapidKL) the order to do so?” she said.

On the incident where a police car was overturned near Sogo, she said:

“There were some accounts that the car was overturned because the crowd believed that someone was under the car. Don’t just publish the picture of an overturned car. Please don’t make assumptions,” she said.

She again called for a full inquiry into the rally to identify who were the trouble-makers.

As for organising another rally, Ambiga said that nothing has been decided yet, adding that the group will continue to highlight the irregularities in the electoral process.
“The government must answer and not deflect [attention] from the issue just because of the violence (at the rally).

“Some 250 000 Malaysians turned up to demand for free and fair elections; what is the government’s response?” she asked.

Bersih chief medical officer, Dr Farouk Musa, said that 117 demonstrators were treated for minor injuries and dehydration.

He added that those who were hospitalised had been discharged this morning.
