Brightest Fall is the book all October Daye fans have been asking for. This book answers a lot of questions that fan has been wondering about over the series. It was a thrilling read and I didn't want to put it down till I was on the last page. It left me wanting more and asking myself just where the series was going from here. I need to know what happens to Toby and the Gang after all the drama they went through in this book. Can't wait to read the next book. Will be counting down the days till it comes out. Seanan McGuire is a excellent writer and really draws you in to the world of Toby and the gang.

I can’t wait to the next book to see what in store fot Toby and her rag tag family. And I hope questions I been wondering since the beginning about Toby’s heritage is reveled soon

I love me some Sherry

I know loads about booze, but sherry is one thing I know very little about other than the image of 50's housewives taking a nip here and there when no one is looking. Well, I can now just throw out that image, thanks to Sherry, A Modern Guide to the Wine World’s Best-Kept Secret by editor-in-chief of PUNCH, Talia Baiocchi.

This book is just seven chapters, but it gives loads of useful information in those chapters. The first four are about sherry production, the styles of sherry, the evolution of sherry through the ages and the current Renaissance of the wines. The fifth chapter gives information about the towns of the area and the sherry producers. The last two chapters focus more of sherry recipes and food pairing with Chapter 6, focusing on sherry-based cocktails and features classic as well as modern creations by top bartenders. It's beautifully written and not dull as some cocktail books might be.

You can tell Biaocchi knows here stuff and put loads of work into researching this lovely book. I really love the cocktail recipes and food pairing and plan on getting me a few bottles of sherry so I can try some at home. Not only does this book give loads of in-depth insight about the world of sherry, it's beautifully produced by Ten Speed Press with it love cover and beautiful photos inside the book. After reading this book, you'll no doubt be interested in learning more about sherry as well as wanting to make a quick trip over to Andalucia so you can experience the sherry world in person.

Sorry, it's been so long since my last post, but I'm traveling around at the moment and have become lazy. Personally, I blame a little thing called cable for my lack of posting. I'm at my parent's house in St. Louis and I'm not ashamed to admit I have perfected the art of doing nothing. It the first time in a while that I don't have to don't anything and I'm enjoying it a bit too much. But never fear fair readers as I will be back in the saddle soon because a girl like me get bored of doing nothing. So look for my adventure about Tales of the Cocktails and my travels soon. As a girl who is use to buying stuff at thrift stores, I have become obsessed Cambridge Satchel Bag. I want one so bad that me (who is cheap) is willing to shell out the cash ($100-$165) on this bag. The bags come in an assortment of styles like the Cambridge Satchel Backpack, Batchel, Music Bag, The Fluoro and The Metallic, but I want the green bag because it will match with my Nixon Watch. And beside I do look good in Neon. Oh, I wish I was so lucky that I could walk in some Goodwill today and there would be one for five buck, but I'm not that lucky. If I was, I be a lotto winner. So, I'm just going to have to buck up be an adult, cut back on my drinking, save my pennies and buy myself this bag. I need it, I want it, and I won't be happy till till the bag is in my hot little hands.Hmm, I might have to hit up the parents (yes, I know I'm grown), but they are spending my future inheritance now, so they I figure they could at least buy me this bag, right.

The British Fashion Council’s international London showrooms tour made a pit stop in Los Angeles to parade London’s brightest designers making waves with their work. Held at Ace Gallery in Mid-Wilshire, the showroom showcased a selection of BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund shortlisted designers including E.Tautz, Jonathan Saunders, Louise Gray, Marios Schwab, Mary Katrantzou, Nicholas Kirkwood, Peter Pilotto, Richard Nicoll, Roksanda Ilincic Todd Lynn,David Koma, Holly Fulton, J.W. Anderson and Michael van der Ham.

During the private three-day showcasing, invitees had an opportunity to meet some of London's top designers and take a look at their latest collection. And I was one of the lucky few who got in and boy, we were blown away by the amazing collections.

“The Scurvy Screw”

Finally, my love for art and booze comes together and I don't just mean me drinking some wine while I pretend to understand and like a piece of art in some cray-cray exhibit. I was looking and my friend's site, Pop Curious and came across a post about "Gordy Recommends.. ", a series of themed vintage looking painting created by artist Gordy Grundy ( nice name) with obscure classic cocktail recipes superimposed on it. Not only do you get this cool recipe, but good ol' Gordy also tells you just how you should be feeling while you're drinking this lovely libation. Now, that's the type of artwork I like. Something usefully instead of just sitting on the wall looking pretty. Now, If only Gordy could just recommends some lotto ticket numbers, I be all set. Now you know you have arrived when you get an invited to a Burberry Party. So People let it be known that I have arrived because I did get invited to such a party and it was the best ever. I have moved on up to the eastside like George and Weezy. The shindig was held a the Burberry boutique in Beverly Hills and t everyone who is anyone in this town gather at the store for a little soiree hosted by Burberry Chief Creative Officer Christopher Bailey and British actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to celebrate the launch of Burberry new fragrance, Body. Well, maybe not that little as over 400 guests, including some major A-listers like Cat Deeley, Sir Patrick Stewart, Serena Williams, Rachel Zoe, Jayma Mays, Lily Aldridge, Erin Heatherton and Kate Bosworth came out to support Bailey and Burberry.

Yay Me. I just found out I made the news. OK, not really the news but my picture did make it into the lovely N. Jayne Seward's post about Fashion Night Out for Apparel News. Wahoo!!! I was wearing my vintage blue dress I got from Jet Rag with a black belt, silver necklace that my friend Casey told me to wear( thanks), and my make-up was flawless. I had to admit that I looked good and so did others as I got many complements thought out the night. And all that attention to detail paid off.
The only thing I would do different next time is to put that jacket down and wear better shoes. Yes, I know they are ugly, but my feet were hurting and I choose comfort over style. Oh well we all make some fashion faux pas sometimes and those shoes were mine

Introducing the Yolie Smash

So after many years of begging and pleading many bartenders around town and elsewhere, I finally got a drink created for me. David Kupchinsky a.k.a. Ol' Man Winter from The Eveleigh created the Yolie Smash for me on my birthday last night. Talk about an honor. It was the best gift a girl could get. OK, I might have asked him to make a drink named after me, but seeing that I never manage to get anyone to do one, I wasn't really expecting it. Made of mezcal, Serrano pepper, heirloom tomatoes, cucumber, Pimm's and lime juice, it's a smokey, spicy drink ( just like me) and I love it. It taste so good that I had 5 last night and I'm still alive. I must get the recipe so I can make it myself at home and get it made at other bars. I'm so going to get the word out because everyone should be drinking the Yolie Smash.

Update.
