Her partner for life was by her side in the water .... and relentlessly tried and tried to lift her sweet head out of the water with his own. We lost a swan on the lake today.

 

Her partner for life was by her side in the water .... and relentlessly tried and tried to lift her sweet head out of the water with his own.

 

I had my camera with me as I came upon this moment but could not bring myself to take pictures of such a private, yes ... moment, between the two.

 

And it was incredibly and I mean incredibly sad to witness. 

 

I had to finish walking the lake to get home.... with my camera, yes, and with my tears.

 

And then I saw this swan - a loner - rise up out of the water in the middle of the lake and facing in the direction of the mourning swan......

 

A coincidence?  Maybe.  But I don't think so.

 

I hope that they will bring solace to each other one day.

 

The circle of life. 

 

This little precious lake is that indeed.
