“He took me places just so we could see horses, be near them.” Ever since I was little I was drawn to horses. How can you explain that feeling to others who don’t have it? It is magical, mysterious, exhilarating, and somehow you feel like there’s a little piece of you missing without that connection. This is a photo I took of a small herd of Icelandic horses last summer at the end of the day.

The other day I was at the boarding stable and looked up and saw this magical lighting enhanced by the stirred up dust created by the ponies impatiently looking forward to their evening meal (unromantic but just a fact). These “ponies” are actually Icelandic horses, by the way. Good lighting is our friend when taking photographs – it can turn a mundane scene into something that captures our imagination.

P.S.: I haven’t been posting due to some health issues, but I’m still here . . . Hopefully I will regain some of my vision and passion that has driven me for many years now.

No photo today . . . I just created this meme in photoshop.

 I saw this herd of cows along the way that I pass when I go to my riding lesson. I pulled over and walked up to the fence. Turns out they were just as curious about me as I was about them. This lady seemed to be the spokescow for the group. We exchanged pleasantries and then I headed back into town and they resumed whatever cows do when out in their field.

Using a polarizing filter helped add to the drama of the scene.

There’s another quote I like that says, “The older I get the more selective I am of who is in my tribe. I would rather have four four quarters than a hundred pennies.” Sorry I don’t know who the author is. My friend and brother from another mother came over and shared his gift of music with us recently. Bella especially enjoyed John’s playing and singing.

p.s.: I have 3 wordpress blogs. I guess it was inevitable that one day I would get them mixed up – I accidentally posted the above on the wrong one. So I did change things up here – I used the same image only photoshopped to look like a pencil drawing. I like how it shows the connection between John and Bella.

I’ve been dealing with some health issues and have not been very active with my photography. Here’s hoping that I will regain my focus and passion for getting out and clicking away.

One day I looked up, well I look up a lot, but this day I saw the patterns of the leaves on my mimosa tree. I liked it a lot with the blue sky behind it, but today I just felt like playing with photoshop filters and came up with this version.  I’ve probably used this quote before, but for me lately, it helps me to re-focus on the facet of life in us that transcends what sometimes feels like the grind of life/living . . .
