]]> http://imagesofgracephoto.com/blog/mommy/feed/ 0 http://imagesofgracephoto.com/blog/mommy/ MWAC http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/ImagesOfGracePhotography/~3/X0NxDTNpiIg/ http://imagesofgracephoto.com/blog/mwac/#comments Tue, 04 Jun 2013 17:05:18 +0000 Amy http://imagesofgracephoto.com/blog/?p=8546 {Mom With A Camera)  and yes, even I am one when I am just hanging with my kids…!  Summer is here and that means more time with your kids and more moments to capture so I was inspired by Lilla today when she came in and said “Mommy, I got piggies, you take my picture”.  I have soooo much to do.  literally I am burning on both ends but I only get this day with her once.  She will only be two and one week ONCE in her life.  She will only wear her piggies for the first time once sooo I stood up from my computer (Will 10 minutes really matter) and took her to her room and shot some pictures of her cute piggies.  Our babysitter says to me “That must be the best part, getting to capture everyday with your kids”.  She is right and reminded me that not every moment has to be perfect (the light in her room isnt perfect, her piggies were not even).  But it is real! So I thought I would start a little weekly “MWAC” tips for capturing your cuties this summer!  I am up for comments and suggestions…if you like this idea please comment and let me now and I will continue : )  and I would love to see what you do!

This is Lilla and Adi’s room….

BASIC

1: remove the clutter in background (I took a picture off the wall, made her bed)

2:OPEN the windows and turn OFF your flash

3: get close!  move in!  the closer you get the better.

 

A LITTLE MORE

Dont worry, I am not going to tell you to turn your camera on the big scary M BUT telling your camera what to do will help you with get the best results sooo

4: See that little green A on your camera?  That is auto.  That means your camera is choosing everything for you.  problem is your camera does not know you are shooting a two year old, indoor, jumping all around a bed.  Now turn that little dial until it is on the TV. This is going to let you set the shutter speed.  Rule of thumb, when I am shooting snap shots I try to keep it up over 160 (250 would be optimal and I never shot below that during a session).  The faster the object the higher number you need to see in the window.

5: alright, we are indoor so chances are if that is all you do, you will have a big dark picture so we are going to up our ISO.  Remember in the days of film when we would buy 100 for outdoor, 800 for indoor?  This is basically the same thing.  Even the most basic SLR cameras can handle an iso of 800.  Start there, if it is still dark then go to 1000.  You may start to get a little grain but it is ok.

 

Remember this is just for indoor..if you would like some more tips for other activities of your kids then just let me know…besides, I cant be there to capture every moment with your cuties!

It was very fitting that the timing of this maternity shoot lined up to be my VERY FIRST SESSION in the studio!  Not only is this family one of closest friends BUT mama was my very first maternity shoot EIGHT YEARS ago!  It is hard for me to imagine it has been that long bc I still remember that shoot like it was yesterday!  I am so excited to get my hands on this little newborn!  Love yo girls!  Your going to be such amazing big sisters!
